Starting point is 00:00:00 One for the ages. Let's recap Super Bowl 55 right now on Fantasy Football Today in five. Welcome to the show. Man, that was not such a good game. Adam Azer and Dave Richard here. We got a full-length show where I can complain about the game for like an hour on Fantasy Football Today, but for now, just five minutes. We'll talk, we'll spin it with some fantasy as well. Talk about Leonard Fournette, Tom Brady. Dave, what happened there? First of all, how upsetting is it when the person who won the third quarter in your box, Super Bowl box or squares pool, also wins the fourth quarter because no points were scored? That's also like a slap in the face.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Yeah, well, I don't know if it's a slap in the face, but certainly a stroke of luck. That's really all that you can say about something like that. But goodness, what do you say about Tom Brady? He was on the right team again in the Super Bowl. He played well, did a good job of reading Kansas City's defense, but really the game was all about Kansas City's offensive line not being able to protect Patrick Mahomes.
Starting point is 00:00:57 I was extremely disappointed that the Chiefs couldn't come up with a better game plan, knowing that they were playing with two backup tackles for two weeks before the game. Just very frustrating, tough night for Kansas city and for Kansas city fans. Great night for Tampa Bay and Tom Brady just proves again. He's the best winner that's ever played quarterback in the national football league.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Yeah. He's amazing. He wins the MVP. Who would you have given the MVP to? I think you got to give it to Brady because there's not one defensive player that changed the course of the game. You can't give it to a coach. Todd Bowles really did a great job coming up with lots of pressure on Mahomes
Starting point is 00:01:33 while still playing coverage defense, zone coverage defense. Yeah, there's really not. This game came down to just the protection from Mahomes. Like I said, Bowles did a great job dialing it up. The defense got there. It just wasn't one guy doing it all game long. Devin White had the great stat line. But the guy that really helped the Bucs overall was Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:01:55 So he gets the MVP. And nothing deep for either team. The longest play of this game was 33 yards. That was a catch by Travis Kelsey. There was a 26-yard run by Clyde Eberdiler, a 27-yard run by Leonard Fournette, who had a really strong game and certainly made a case for himself to be Super Bowl MVP.
Starting point is 00:02:10 He had 89 rushing yards. He had 46 receiving yards. He was the second leading receiver for Tampa Bay. So let's talk about Leonard Fournette going into the offseason now. What do you think his fantasy value will be? Well, what team is he going to play for? Are the Bucs going to re-sign him?
Starting point is 00:02:23 I hope not. For fantasy's sake him i hope not for his for for fantasy's sake i hope not the problem is is that even with this great super bowl game everybody's going to look at leonard fordette and say well why do we need to spend money on him when i can go draft somebody else in the nfl draft we'll see where he ends up but i can't see him being outside of a timeshare where he's splitting yes he'll get'll get drafted. No, it won't be with a top 50 pick or anywhere close to that. All right. How about Tom Brady and Brady finishes his QB seven this season. He throws a 40 touchdowns to 12 interceptions and Chris Goblin's obviously a
Starting point is 00:02:55 free agent. Uh, but how do you look at Tom Brady going into 2021? If he stays with Tampa Bay and that's gotta be the very first thing that we say it's it comes down to who's around him and Mike Evans is going to be there but Chris Godwin you mentioned him Gronk we don't know if he'll be back we don't know if Antonio Brown will be back but there's still some interesting players behind those guys on the depth chart Scotty Miller Tyler Johnson are two certainly OJ Howard's going to be a free agent if he's still surrounded by great talent and that offensive line shouldn't be impacted at all then yeah Brady's got a chance to be a free agent. If he's still surrounded by great talent and that offensive line shouldn't be impacted at all, then yeah, Brady's got a chance to be a top 12 fantasy quarterback again, but we're
Starting point is 00:03:29 not going to draft him until the later round. So he'll be a quarterback that you begin the season with as your starter. And more often than not, he'll be pretty good for your fantasy squad. Not a bad deal late in the draft. I didn't expect to be talking so much fantasy right now. I thought we'd be reacting to a classic game. This is one of the worst Super Bowls ever, basically. 31-9 the final score. But one thing that caught my eye was
Starting point is 00:03:48 Clyde Edwards. He layer had a really good game. He had one of the better rushing games you're going to see against the bucks, nine carries for 64 yards, average 7.1 yards per carry. He also had two catches and he was their guy. I mean, he had nine carries and Darrell Williams had two. So I mean, I don't know that you make too much of it, but it was nice to see that he got healthy and they treated him like the number one back. And you're hoping that he can build off of that going into 2021. He's going to be a polarizing running back. A lot of people that drafted him with the first round hype in 2020, they're not going to touch him unless it's round three and everybody that kind of passed on them. They'll see him there starting in mid to late
Starting point is 00:04:23 round two. And let's say, okay, he's a running back in Kansas city. Chiefs are certainly going to do things to improve their offensive line. This off season, it's going to be a glaring point for them. And Edwards Hilaire figures to be the guy that benefits the most in the run game. So Damian Williams will be back and we'll see what else they do with the position. But I think Edwards Hilaire is in good shape to have a much better second
Starting point is 00:04:45 season. All right. More on the Superbowl, more on these two teams and Hey, who knows? Maybe we'll have a Carson Wentz trade overnight. We've got a lot to talk about on fantasy football today. So check it out,
Starting point is 00:04:54 follow it and stream it on Spotify for Dave Richard. I'm Adam Azar. We'll talk to you tomorrow morning.
