Let's talk about the biggest questions for week one.
Next on Fantasy Football Today in 5.
Welcome to FFT in five.
I'm Chris Towers.
I'm here with Heath Cummings.
And we are looking ahead to week one, which starts in two days.
And unfortunately, we've got a gigantic question mark
at the number one tight end spot for week one
because Travis Kelsey left practice on Tuesday
with a hyperextension of his knee,
which is the kind of initial diagnosis that I think a lot of people look at
and say, well, that's okay.
I've heard a hyperextended knee and seen guys come back from that pretty
quickly, but I think it's worth keeping in mind that it's an incredibly
vague diagnosis that could mean like literally he's back for week two i think
week one is probably a real stretch at this point i think it could also i mean look there's no point
in speculating but it could be a multi-month absence depending on the extent of the injury
hopefully we'll know more you know in the coming days but probably not in time for anyone who's
drafting so he the big question first tuesday is the biggest draft night of the year on CBS Fantasy.
More drafts happen on Tuesday night than any other night.
Where are you ranking Travis Kelsey for the rest of the season?
I still think you take Travis Kelsey in round one.
I think it's around, I think in our draft, most recent recent draft today he went at 12 or 13 and i think
that's a perfect spot for him like if i'm picking at the end of round one i'm definitely not passing
on him twice i might pass on him once but we know what the end of round three looks like in terms of
your chances of getting a true star player and so i think you just got to swing and take that shot
if you get a chance at him somewhere after pick 10 before pick 13 i did move him to 16
that that was me maybe i'm just a big scaredy cat but it is a soon to be 34 year old who in
fairness has not missed more than one game since his first full nfl season his first season he
played one game every year since then he He's missed no more than one game.
Incredibly consistent, incredibly productive, biggest difference maker in fantasy last season.
But it's just, man, it feels like he could go really wrong.
And you're kind of you need him to be a real difference maker in order to justify that first round pick.
I moved him behind aj brown who i think
is kind of the end of a tier and maybe that's too low but it's a big concern for me if you don't
have him in week one who are you looking to pick up i think this will be the greatest test of can
we have a handcuffed tight end because of how like set the chief's offense has been for the last 10 years and using
that position and their lack of options. And I mean, we don't know for sure that Kadarius Tony
is going to be 100% Sky Moore is the sure thing at wide receiver. And he had like 200 yards last
year. So I do, I think Noah gray is going to be a top 15 tight end for me for sure. Um, if Tyler
Higbee is out there, then he's the easy answer.
The Seahawks were far and away
worse than anybody else
against tight ends last year.
And Matthew Stafford
just dumped it off to Higbee over
in full PPR.
I think Higbee is an easy guy.
I might even flex Higbee.
He's a he's a top eight
tight end for me.
Basically, I think Kittle's
the number seven tight end
in that in that like sure thing group.
Higbee for week one,
at least is number
eight for me. Yeah. And again, I think Noah Gray will be top 15. The only other guy who
might be on the waiver wire who I will have ahead of him is likely Gerald Everett. Just because of
the role we've seen for the tight end in Kellen Moore's offense in the past. I think Everett,
when he's healthy, is pretty involved in that offense. He has a hard time staying healthy,
but he should be healthy for week one. All right, let's move on to some of the other big week one
questions. And the first one up, can you trust, I know you're high on Anthony Richardson for the
season, top 10 quarterback for you. Are you actually trusting him as a top 10 quarterback
for week one? I think it really, like I'm not ranking him there. No, I think what you do with
him depends on how closely you listen to us.
Because just about everybody at CBS besides Adam Azer was screaming,
draft Anthony Richardson as a top 12 quarterback,
and then go get one of those boring guys in the double-jit rounds to pair with him.
Gino Smith, Aaron Rodgers, one of those guys.
Cousins, Goff, Daniel Jones, any of those guys, I'm starting over Anthony Richardson.
But if you drafted him and you, like, say, drafted Kenny Pickett as your backup,
or Derek Carr, or something like that,
then I'm going to start Anthony Richardson.
But no, he's around QB 18 for me this first week
in six points per pass touchdowns league.
I do think he's still pretty close to top 12
in a league that rewards four points per pass touchdowns.
All right, one more big question for week one before we go.
How are you handling the young stud running backs coming back from injury, Javante Williams and Brees Hall for week
one? I've got Williams ahead of Hall, neither of them in my top 20 running backs. I would view
Williams and Samajai P Ryan very similarly as low end number two running backs against a really bad
Raiders defense. I think, I think probably Brees Hall has to share more with Dalvin Cook
and Michael Carter probably gets involved
there as well this first week. And
they're playing a very good defense in Buffalo.
So Hall is a low-end flex
for me. I would rather start Jamal Williams over
him. I would rather start Raheem Mostert over him.
I agree on all those. That's going to do it for
FFT in five. We'll see you tomorrow.
