Starting point is 00:00:00 Aren't running backs supposed to get hurt and wide receivers are safe? So much for that. We'll talk about all the big Week 2 injuries right now on Fantasy Football Today in 5. And welcome everybody. Good morning. It is Sunday, September 20th. Let's get those lineups set. You're listening to Fantasy Football Today in 5, a podcast that gets you caught up fast
Starting point is 00:00:17 on the fantasy news and advice you need to know. Follow and stream us on Spotify. I'm Adam Azer. I'm joined by Heath Cummings. Heath, Michael Thomas out. Kenny Gallaudet, Chris Godwin, George Kittle. We'll talk about a couple of beat-up offensive lines. But let's start with the Monday night game and Michael Thomas.
Starting point is 00:00:34 And what do you do with any wide receivers in that game that you want to start? Well, I mean, really, maybe Emmanuel Sanders. Like, the other side of that game, Henry Ruggs, is now questionable, so it's going to be very difficult to trust him since he's really nothing more than a boomer bust number three when he's healthy. So yeah, I think if I'm looking at a wide receiver from that game, it's Emmanuel Sanders, but I'm really hoping
Starting point is 00:00:56 I'm not looking at a wide receiver from that game. Kenny Galladay is out at Green Bay. First of all, is Marvin Jones going to be better than he was last week, and is Danny Amendola going to be as good as he was last week? Because if he is, you should be starting him in a PPR league. Yeah, I think Amendola is a borderline number three. You shouldn't expect what we saw last week,
Starting point is 00:01:14 and you should expect more from Jones. I'd rather start Jones than Amendola. And listen, I think Quintez Cephas has to be right up there. He was not good, but he saw 10 targets, and I believe he led the team in air yards. So that is a deep sleeper for you if you're really desperate at wide receiver this week. I know a lot of people are.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Scotty Miller, another guy who's got an opportunity. Chris Godwin is out against Carolina. Thoughts there? Yeah, he's in that, for me, that Cephas range. This Patriots, Buccaneers, of course, with Tom Brady. Team is going to be very interesting without Chris Godwin because they should be able to just run the ball at will. They should be able to dominate this game without being too risky.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I think Evans gets his deep shots. I like Howard and Gronk a little bit at tight end, but I'm also thinking this might be a Ronald Jones and or Leonard Fournette game. All right, so how about ranking Emmanuel Sanders, Danny Amendola, Scott Miller? I would go Sanders, Amendola, Miller. Oh, so I ranked them for you, Heath. I did all the hard work for you.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Now you got a guy. Let's take a guy like DK Metcalf with a tough matchup. Would you start any of them over him? I would start Emmanuel Sanders. No, I would you start any of them over him i would start emmanuel sanders no i would not start any i thought you were going to ask dj charke and i would start sanders over charke but i would not start any of them over metcalf all right what about like robbie anderson we start any of those guys over say robbie anderson i would start all of those guys over robbie anderson i believe i know
Starting point is 00:02:39 i think i still have anderson ahead of scott miller but yes i'd start the rest of them over robbie anderson more injuries to get to ge George Kittle is out at the Jets, and Jamison Crowder is out in this game. So is there any player in this game that's not a running back? Am I forgetting anyone? I mean, Raheem Boster, is that the only start in this game? Yeah. I think you could make the case for Chris Herndon and PPR as a good start.
Starting point is 00:03:05 And I think he is a good start, actually. In non-PPR or half PPR, it gets more difficult because really, if you're a tight end in that format, you have to score a touchdown or you had a bad week. And it's hard to believe the Jets are going to score any touchdowns this week. And if you want, again, in the same vein as some of the guys we were talking about before, but slightly behind them, if you were looking for a desperation dart throw at wide receiver,
Starting point is 00:03:27 Brandon Ayuk is expected to make his debut. He's a first-round pick. It's a very, very bad Jets defense. I wouldn't want to rely on Ayuk, but not a bad DFS tournament play. No, and I picked him up. I have no intention of starting Brandon Ayuk, but I do think he's a player that you could put on your bench, stash, see what happens.
Starting point is 00:03:45 If he doesn't have a good game, you drop him on waivers on Tuesday. But if not, hey, you beat the waiver wire. A couple of offensive lines are beat up. Dallas, Lael Collins is out, and left tackle Tyron Smith is going to be a game-time decision in what should be a shootout for them against the Falcons and Pittsburgh. They've got a ton of offensive line injuries, and James Conner is going to play in this game. First of all, do you have any concerns about the Cowboys' offense?
Starting point is 00:04:12 Not really because they're playing the Falcons. Okay, and then do you start James Conner? You know, there's Melvin Gordon and James Robinson and these guys who either have a tough matchup or we don't know where to start them. There's Malcolm Brown. There's Naeem Hines. Where does James Conner factor in? Yeah, of all those guys,
Starting point is 00:04:28 I think I might start Conner over all of them besides Melvin Gordon. And for me, there's this range where we get, and it's really probably right after David Montgomery, which is about running back 25 this week, where you just have no confidence at all in the number of touches or the type of production you're going to get from the running backs.
Starting point is 00:04:47 And I think I'd put Connor at the top of that group. Listen, it wasn't that long ago that Pittsburgh was saying he's going to be our workhorse back. And yeah, he tweaked an ankle early in a game and didn't look quite as good. But he was a full participant at every practice that he went to this week. They did not ever behave as if James Conner's status was in question. And I have a hard time believing that Benny Snell having three good quarters against the New York Giants has changed anybody's mind.
