Getting you ready for week eight with some weather updates and some injury updates and more right now on Fantasy Football Today in 5.
Good morning. It is Sunday. We are ready for football. Adam Azer and Heath Cummings on Fantasy Football Today in 5,
a podcast that gets you caught up fast on the fantasy news and advice that you need to know.
Follow and stream us on Spotify. Heath, no matter what happens today, the big winner is Daylight Savings Time.
Hope you enjoy that extra hour.
Extra hour of research in the morning is fantastic.
I really celebrated Halloween.
Celebrated the heck out of Halloween.
It was great.
Now it's week eight.
I'm sure you did.
Okay, well, I'm going to ask you the same question to start.
Any games in jeopardy of being postponed?
You don't have to ask me that anymore.
We're not doing that anymore.
We don't do that anymore.
It doesn't exist anymore.
I was a little worried about Monday night.
I might send out a worried about Monday night.
I might send out a note about Monday night to have replacement options
just because the Giants had a COVID scare,
the Bucs had an equipment manager test positive,
so it's not the worst idea,
but we expect it to be played.
Let's talk about Seattle and San Francisco.
Any running backs you like in this game?
Who's playing?
No.
Listen, I think with Tevin Coleman back,
you have to really be
cautious with the 49ers running backs.
Tevin Coleman, Jamichael Hasty,
Jarek McKinnon, all three
have top 10 upside,
but it might be dependent on who's
the first guy to run through
an eight-yard hole and not
anybody touch him for 30 yards. That's what
49ers running backs do. I don't know who that
first guy will be. They are boom or bust
flex, nothing more.
DJ Dallas is really interesting
if Chris Carson,
Carlos Hyde, and Travis Homer
all can't go. We kind of expect
they all won't be able to go, but they're all going
to try to go before the game
and pregame warm-ups. That means
if you were considering using dj
dallas you have to have a backup ready somebody else playing a late game thankfully there's a ton
of games that you could choose from and sunday night games uh monday night game like whatever
but i would be very hesitant using any back from this game if dj dallas is the only healthy one to
see the best back in this game he would be my is the only healthy one to see the best back in this game?
He would be my highest ranked.
I assume one of those three 49ers running backs
would probably be better,
but who in the world would know who it would be?
You're going to get a lot of questions,
so I have been defaulting to Tevin Coleman.
I'm definitely not going with Jarek McKinnon.
What about you?
If I had to choose between Coleman and Hasty
I'd probably start Hasty
What are you thinking about the weather today?
It's not great
all my weather
information comes from Kevin Roth
you talked to Kevin Roth earlier in the week
it's changed a little since you talked to him
he has three games on Sunday morning
in the red
that's the Patriots at Buffalo
you weren't going to play any Patriots anyway.
Might be a problem for Josh Allen, though.
That's the Raiders at the Browns.
And that's a game with Derek Carr and Baker Mayfield,
two of my favorite streaming options coming into the week
that I'm a little bit less interested in.
And then the third one in the red was Minnesota at Green Bay.
Again, Kirk Cousins, another streaming option for some people.
And then also I think that Cincinnati Titans game, not quite as bad.
And all of these are basically wins.
There's, I don't think, much concern besides that.
But it's really, really windy in these places.
And it might just be something to consider if you have a kicker
or if you have a wide receiver and you're trying to decide between that guy who's playing in one of these games and another guy who's not.
I would use this as a tiebreaker, not as something where you have to bench all the quarterbacks and wide receivers in these games.
Okay, well, one of those games that you mentioned, Bears hosting the Saints, Michael Thomas.
I didn't mention that game.
Oh, you should have mentioned that game because that one could be a bad one too.
That one is not in the red or the orange it is in the yellow i think it's a little bit later right
so i think they're gonna miss i think it's a four o'clock game okay i'm sorry so one game that kevin
initially mentioned that apparently the forecast has gotten better which is a good thing saints
bears um when you look at that game michael thomas out but alan robinson in uh your thoughts
they are like can you trust any saints wide receivers and are you starting Allen Robinson?
Traquan is a number three wide receiver for me.
Allen Robinson immediately becomes
my start right back in my lineup,
not even worried about it.
He gets 10 targets a game.
Sorry, Dallas Goddard is going to play,
start or sit?
I would like to start Dallas Goddard
unless you have someone
you really feel good about it. Tied in, I'd start Goddard. Unless you have someone you really feel good about at tight end,
I'd start Goddard.
Phillip Lindsey is probably going to play.
If he plays, start or sit Melvin Gordon and or Phillip Lindsey.
I lowered Melvin Gordon from a top 10 back to a low end number two running back.
I'm probably still starting him.
Lindsey is a flex.
Right in that Jemichael, Hasty, Tevin, Coleman,
all the other running backs you don't quite want to start but behind the guys like the baltimore ravens running backs behind the chargers
running backs um in the flex range are you feeling good about the three big replacement running backs
this week jamal williams boston scott giovanni bernard bernard concerns me a little bit titans
run defense has gotten better lately, and he's got three
new offensive linemen, and they haven't been able to
run the ball well all year. The thing
is, that's the thing. His
offensive linemen that he lost weren't
good in the first place. They don't
have good offensive linemen. Two starting tackles at a center
though. I mean, now you've got second stringers
at three spots. Yeah, I would anticipate
he will have more receiving yards than
rushing yards.
And I'm not sitting Giovanni Bernard.
We've got 11 games now where he's played without Joe Mixon or he's received at least 10 carries.
He's pretty much 11 for 11 and delivering at least running back to production and about 50-50 for giving you 18 plus PPR fantasy points.
I'm starting Jamal Williams as a top six back.
I'm starting Giovanni Bernard as a top 12 back. I'm starting Giovanni Bernard as a top
12 back. I'm starting Boston Scott as a top
18 back. It'd be very
unlikely I'd sit any of those guys.
Okay, everybody. As I sit here at
815 a.m. Eastern, it feels
like this could be the lowest scoring week that we've
had all year due to the weather, due to the
buys, due to the fact that Thursday was
kind of a dud. We shall
see. Thanks a lot for listening to Fantasy Football today in five.
Make sure you follow us and stream us on Spotify.
And for Heath Cummings, I am Adam Azer.
Good luck in week eight.
