Can you trust Ezekiel Elliott if you're setting your lineup by 1 o'clock?
What about Michael Thomas?
We'll give you those injury updates right now and get your lineup set on Fantasy Football
Today in 5.
Good morning.
Happy Sunday.
Let's get a win in Week 9.
Adam Azer and Heath Cummings here on Fantasy Football Today in 5, a podcast that gets you
caught up fast on the fantasy news and advice you need to know.
Follow and stream us on Spotify.
And listen, we are giving you an episode every single morning.
So there's plenty to know and a quick way to get your fantasy football fix.
Okay, Heath, same question every week.
Half the teams are dealing with COVID.
Any games in jeopardy of being postponed?
I don't understand why you keep asking me this question.
We're not postponing games because of COVID any longer.
Okay, that is not a thing.
Ezekiel Elliott apparently has a good chance to play.
What is your read on this situation?
Would you start him?
Would you start Tony Pollard if he's out facing Pittsburgh?
And unfortunately, a 425 p.m. start.
Yeah, I don't like it at all because it's a 425 start
because we heard at one point on Saturday,
the Cowboys are preparing as if they'll be playing without Ezekiel Elliott.
And then we've heard that he has a good chance
to play. And so, listen,
it's a bad offense against
arguably the best defense in
the NFL. If you have another
option on your roster besides
Ezekiel Elliott that you feel good about
starting, comfortable starting, then it's an
easy decision. If you have both
Elliott and Pollard, then you probably
just wait it out and see what's going to happen.
But it makes
me nervous. Would you start
Justin Jackson over
them? I would
start, well, that's a 4-30
game also. Yeah, but I'm just saying
it's not a good matchup anyway, and you know,
Zeke's playing Hurd potentially.
If Elliott was healthy, I'd have a hard time
starting Jackson over him. And if Elliott was out, I'd have a hard time starting Jackson over him.
And if Elliott was out,
I'd definitely start Pollard over Jackson.
How about J.K. Dobbins?
Would you just start Dobbins over a Cowboys running back?
Yeah, I probably would.
Okay, all right, fair enough.
Let's get to the Sunday night game.
How do you feel about the wide receivers?
Are you confident in Michael Thomas?
Are you confident in Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans?
What do you think?
Yeah, again, this is a situation where I'd really like to have
another option stored up when it comes to Michael Thomas.
But if he plays, I'm going to start him.
Mike Evans, I view as like a number three wide receiver
because we do expect to get Chris Godwin back.
I would rank the receivers in this game.
Assuming let's just assume everybody plays.
I would go Thomas Godwin,
Evans,
uh,
Emmanuel Sanders,
maybe Trey Quance.
No.
And then probably Antonio.
I don't have a lot of interest in starting Antonio Brown in his first game
when they've said he could play as few as 10 to 15 snaps.
And he has Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski,
and the team's leading receiver, Scott Miller, on the team.
Christian McCaffrey, all systems go?
Fire him up.
Dez Bryant's going to play for the Ravens against Indiana.
That'll be fun to watch.
Yeah.
Stash him?
If you've got a deep enough league.
I'm not stashing him if I only have five bench spots.
Two players need to clear the COVID protocol before they play.
Matthew Stafford at Minnesota and Keenan Allen against Las Vegas.
If they play, you start them, right?
They play, you start them.
Right.
Jameson Crowder expected to start.
That's a Monday night game.
How do you feel about starting Crowder without Sam Darnold? Most likely.
Yeah.
Crowder and Perryman both expect to be back.
Prashad Perryman's a boom bust flex type.
I would view Jamison Crowder as a number two wide receiver.
I'm probably starting him.
Okay.
Would you start him over Mike Evans?
Yes.
And.
Well,
in full PPR for sure.
In non, it's very, very close.
What are your thoughts on the Seattle running backs
this week?
I'm probably starting DJ Dallas.
I do think that there's a chance that Travis
Homer runs the party just a little
bit, and Alex Collins
has been promoted up to the active roster, so they
have someone else to give the ball to. They've
raved about him a little bit.
I would view DJ Dallas as a low-end number two,
and he's really the only Seattle back I'm interested in using.
Over Zeke?
Again, that's the same time, right?
Yes.
So if Zeke's active, I'll probably start him.
Okay, let me just confirm that.
Nope, it's a 1 o'clock game.
So you have to make that decision.
Make it.
I'd probably go DJ Dallas.
Okay.
And finally, you're going to be asked a lot of questions today.
Who's someone you're going to be recommending a lot,
going to be asked about a lot, and recommending a lot?
I would say it's probably going to be Justin Jackson. I feel a lot better about him with Troy Mayne Pope likely out
and just the Jackson Kelly combo,
because we've seen pretty clearly over the past few weeks that Justin
Jackson's currently a better running back than Joshua Kelly.
And there's no reason to believe he won't get a majority of the touches and
what should be a high scoring game against the Raiders.
All right.
That's going to do it for fantasy football today in five.
