This is fantasy football today from CBS sports.
What a play!
Can you believe this?
It's a no idea.
It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
Off to the races and he stays on his feet.
It's just going to go the distance.
Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
Happy Friday, everybody.
Welcome to the show.
The next time I say happy Friday to you,
we'll be breaking down the NFC home games for week one.
Dave and Jamie, we've pretty much.
much made it kind of crazy right i mean how many more drafts do you have left jamie oh boy uh
another guillotine draft tonight i have one sunday no two sunday one monday one tuesday so four four
five left dave not nearly as many i've got an auction draft this afternoon i've got my keeper
league draft on the seventh uh we have the ffts draft if we're doing that's the ffts draft if we're doing
that league again, Jamie. We've got that at some point soon. Tuesday.
That's it. I'm keeping my number low this year. My focus is on the job, not my teams.
Yeah, fair enough. All right. Well, it's a fun weekend for a lot of people, a lot of fantasy
drafts going on. Obviously, a holiday weekend. We are maybe going to do a show Sunday night instead
of Monday morning, but we will have a Labor Day show for you in some capacity. And I'll give you
a programming update soon.
Today on the show, we're going to review our pick-by-pick series.
And I think that's better than a mock draft at this point because we can just give you
some takeaways from what we've already done.
And I asked on Twitter, what are some of the toughest calls that you've encountered during
your drafts?
I'll read some of those.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
And let's get into the news and notes, though.
We had a little bit of a Bears scare yesterday.
Romo Dunseh and DeAndre Swift, both left with injuries.
Swift, it was just a cramp, and O'Donzee is reportedly fine.
Good.
So we shouldn't care about the bear scare?
I think that's fair.
Are you a care bear?
Oh, I used to love the care bears.
Just to no one.
To no one's surprise.
Here we go.
Anyway.
Text Heath.
What the hell was I saying?
Did you guys change your rankings at all for Swift and O'Doose?
No.
I used to love the care bears, in quotes.
Andrew Destin of the Athletic thinks that George Halani will be the third downback,
but also the short yardage and goal line back early in the season.
Okay, Jamie, what's your reaction to that of George Halani potentially being the goal line back?
Look, they weren't going to put everything on Judarian Price's plate.
They're going to, you know, use Halani and Emmanuel Wilson to some degree until Zach Sharper.
A's back. The hope is that price gets the majority of touches and is not a trapback.
So I think you should still go into the draft process, or if you've already drafted,
have price as a low-end number two running back. I would take him as early as round five.
You know I've been drafting a lot of George Halani late just to see what this would look like
and how it all will play out. He's still a good dart throw late in your drafts.
And probably by the time you're listening to this, you'll see the last,
ADP review
for our CBS sports
data along with
an early look at the waiver wire.
It's a combination of both.
And Halani will be mentioned in there just as
if you have an IR spot
that you can use or if you just have
someone that you hate
and you want to drop.
You can stash, you know,
George Halani is among many players that you can
stash that are
widely available in our leagues.
So I think it's just
we're in a discovery phase early in the season with the Seahawks backfield.
That's a great way to play.
Okay, but if Hulani is, this is exactly what Jack Charbonnet was.
And Kenneth Walker was RB 28.
He had a good year last year.
He averaged 4.6 yards per carry.
He played a full season.
He was RB 22 overall.
He was RB 28 per game in basically every format.
And that's because he wasn't the third down back.
He wasn't the two-minute drill back.
And he wasn't the goal line back.
Zach Charbonnet got all the touchdowns.
basically not all the touchdowns, but only five for Walker.
So if they use Halani and then eventually Charbonabee comes back the way
Sharbonay was used last year, then you could clearly see bus potential.
Am I overreacting here for Judarian Price?
I think a lot of people are going to be concerned about that.
I mean, there's obviously bus potential when you're talking about uncertainty for both sides
of it.
There's uncertainty in how good price can be.
There's uncertainty in how they're going to use everybody.
there's uncertainty on the timeline for Zach Charbonnet.
So the thing that you're kind of hanging your hat on is
is that George Halani has never really done anything.
That Judarian Price has been a part-time running back
and has to prove himself, but it was also a first-round pick
and has plenty of talent and upside.
And then again, what version of Charbonnet
are we going to see when he comes back if he comes back early in the season?
So it's just a lot of moving parts.
I think when you start to compare him to those other guys in that range
of Scataboo, who could be in a timeshare of Montgomery,
who has, you know, if you're watching, you see the report that there could be an even split between him and Woody Marks with a questionable offensive line, that you have Basil Tutin, who could be in a timeshare and may not even be the better running back in the timeshare or could be similar to price where he's losing touchdown opportunities.
So it's that whole round five through round seven group of guys.
Ramandre Stevenson is now in this conversation, but we know Trevionn Henderson is still looming.
So, I mean, it's just a matter of like when you want to, you know, dip your toe into this pool of backs, how confident and how comfortable you are with them as starters.
I would just look at it as there's 400 vacated touches in the Seahawks backfield.
If you like Jadarian Price and his situation, you should be overly excited about just that possibility alone.
You could potentially be terrified about the possibility of everything else that's surrounding him with Halani and Charbonnet.
So if you don't want to draft any of those running backs, it's easy to pivot to wide receiver and then just kind of go back to the next group of guys,
which might be in a similar situation, Jordan Mason,
the commanders guys, the Steelers guys,
you know, we talked about this lot.
Sure.
And that's one of the tough calls that one of our listeners, let's see,
let's have some fun on Twitter, said,
tough call is what to do with the mid-round running back.
Sometimes you have to take some,
but starting at the middle of the fifth,
I get nervous.
And yeah, I think that's kind of what we're talking about,
understood.
If you're too nervous,
if you're identifying yourself as someone who hates that,
then take too early, you know,
and don't be so reliant on that group.
All right.
Ian Rappaport thinks Mike Washington Jr.
will be a thing this year.
So that's kind of been a steady drumbeat
for a little while here.
Trevion Henderson was not seen at practice,
which obviously could make you feel pretty good
about Ramandre early
because they're a week away from their first game.
They play on Wednesday.
But Seattle, New England, week one,
those two run defenses were absolutely shut down,
Lockdown, arguably the best in the NFL last year.
I don't know what we're going to get from the running backs of week one.
We have finally seen Stevenson pass Henderson in ADP.
Hey, how about that?
Okay, Zay Flowers practiced.
Anthony Richardson is Indianapolis's backup,
which, man, I don't know from a receiver perspective
if you could have a much worse backup, you know?
I don't know.
He looked much better, though, in the preseason.
I think you got to give him a little bit of credit for some of the work that he's put in.
Okay. Okay.
I mean, look, he's never going to be, oh, hey, look, that's a guy I want to watch throw the football because it's pretty.
But, you know, if he continues to work on his mechanics and builds off of what they've tried to do with him,
I would not be surprised if he becomes a reclamation project someplace else, if given a chance to compete for a starting job.
And look, Daniel Jones has had a rough time staying healthy in his career.
So it could be something that is relevant for the Colts.
at some point this season also.
So Dynasty League's super flex mostly.
He still might be somebody you should keep on your bench.
Yeah, that's kind of why I brought it up,
because Daniel Jones does have that injury history.
Cam Scadaboo said he thought about retiring
after his ankle injury last season.
He said he told himself,
if he had a serious injury in the NFL,
that'd be it.
But it wasn't.
Thankfully, he's back.
Dave Texans beat writer,
Jonathan M. Alexander,
Jamie just kind of mentioned this.
He reports,
he thinks that Dave Montgomery and Woody Marks
will have a fairly even split.
What do you think?
I'd be surprised if they had an even split in terms of rushes.
And I saw what you were talking about.
He thinks they're both going to get 800 rushing yards this year.
That would surprise me.
If you were to tell me that they were each going to get,
I don't even think 800 total yards is in play.
Let's call it 600 total yards.
I think Montgomery blows past that as long as he's healthy,
but I think Montgomery can get there,
or I'm sorry, marks can get there between,
mean, just, you know, catches and playing on passing downs, no huddle offense, that type of role.
I think that's his role.
And I'd be shocked if they put him anywhere near the goal line, unless it was in a specific
situation like the hurry up offense, maybe third down, third and goal, something like that.
I think Montgomery is obviously still a decent pick, but he's in that round five blob of running
backs that you look at and you go, okay, there's a pathway to them being great and there's also
a pathway to them being absolutely terrible.
I'd be shocked.
I really would be.
And I don't like drafting marks unless it's with a very, very late round pick.
Matt Barrow's of the Athletic says that the plan for Dejohn Stribbling is for him to be the primary slot receiver and to be Mike Evans' understudy as the X receiver.
They want versatility in their receiving core.
He also says that Debo Samuel.
What's that?
That's interesting because they could just as easily put Debo in the slot.
Yeah, they're probably going to mix a match.
If they put Stribbling in the slot heavily, that's a matchup problem.
problem for smaller corners because stripling's a big dude.
So I, and we've saw him run a bunch of horizontal routes in the preseason.
I would imagine that they would ask him to do something like that.
He's also an interesting late round pick, certainly more interesting than Woody Marks.
The Cardinal sign Michael Wilson.
Oh, he also said that Debo Samoos looked good and they haven't been shy to give him carries.
He always looks good this time of year.
And George Kittle won't play his usual 95% of the snaps in week one.
But that doesn't mean he won't play 80%, just he won't play a full snapshot.
the Cardinal signed Michael Wilson to a three-year $70 million extension with $47 million guaranteed.
I'm not going to give the numbers because we're running at a time, but Michael Wilson and Parker
Washington, same draft class, pretty similar career arc. Michael Wilson first 38 games, Parker
Washington, first 36, basically did nothing and then finished with an absolute blitz.
It was amazing. And a few late round players that have gotten some buzz that I basically never mentioned.
Adonai Mitchell for the Jets, Rashid Shahid for the Seahawks, Eric All for the Bengals.
I can't imagine people are going to be drafting Eric all,
but a name to know maybe in tight end premium.
And you guys like Adonai Mitchell or Rashid Shaheed better as a late round flyer.
Mitchell.
Sheet.
Mitchell's been getting buzz all camp long.
And I think he's their number two wide receiver and probably their number two target in that offense.
The problem is it's the Jets offense.
But if you're just taking shots on wide receivers with late round picks,
he's toward the bottom of the list.
Like, stribling easy.
You're taking him three rounds before you.
would even think about Adnanai Mitchell.
Yeah.
The thing about Shaheed is they didn't use him enough last year.
You have Cup at 33 and another injury for Tori Horton.
Yeah.
You want to hear something gross?
I like yours.
I think that is weird, not gross.
I wouldn't be surprised if Cooper Cup had a decent role and that could hurt the upside of Shahid.
I thought you're going to say.
Yeah, I mean, you say the same thing about, you know, Sadiq in New York and Omar Cooper,
for when those guys are finally up to speed.
Right.
When they're ready.
There's moving parts of both these teams.
Yeah.
All right.
So who is,
what are some tough calls
that the listeners had?
John Seeley says,
I had Pickens,
Collins,
London, and A.J.
Brown fall to me
at the two three turn.
That's pretty cool.
Maybe 10 team league.
Pickens, Collins,
London,
A.J. Brown.
I went London and A.J.
Brown.
But that was a tough call.
Did you get it right?
100% got it right.
I mean,
it's tough call
because they're all great players,
but I think the upside favors
the two that you took.
OJ Weber and actually other people too,
but OJ Weber, who donated to St. Jude and will be co-managing the FFT team with Dan Schneier this year,
which two wide receivers?
Longtime Donator, too.
Yeah.
Which two wide receivers should I draft at the three-four turn?
Which two?
Yeah.
What's your ideal?
Jamar Chase and Pookin-a-Koo?
Yeah.
I mean, ideally, Devante Smith falls there.
Sure.
If possible.
I love Ladd-McConkie there.
How about Garrett Wilson?
If he's there.
Wilson will be behind those guys.
But yeah, Wilson's in that conversation.
DJ Moore, Jalen Waddle, you know, depending on how heavy wide receivers go.
There's so many options there.
So I'm looking at Fantasy Pros ADP.
These are the wide receivers 36 through 46.
We've got Garrett Wilson, Tetaroa, Zay, Burden, Tee, Devante, McCocky.
Those two are at the bottom?
That's...
Devante, no way.
Devante is 45th in ADP on Fantasy Pros
right now. Well, in their real-time ADP, he's 30th. Yeah. That's weird. I think, okay, the real-time ADP is
Maconkey. Just use ours. Ours. Ours is very accurate. Okay. Maconkey, Higgins, Flowers, Waddle,
McMillan, Wilson. Abuka. Yeah, all makes sense. Yeah, my two would be of those, it would be the first two for me,
McConkey and Higgins. Yeah, if Smith is there or flowers there, I think they're worth two. But
but any combination of those type of receivers.
Teteroa, they're all great.
And that's like part of the reason why if you're picking late in round one,
you shouldn't be afraid to go RBRB because these are the receivers that will make it back.
You have to like these wide receivers in order to take them in rounds three and four.
But if you're hearing these names and you're going,
okay, these guys could be my wide receiver one, wide receiver two.
Yeah, this is the reason why starting RBRB does make sense.
Or if you go and you just mix it up and you go Lamb or Jefferson with a running back in your first
two picks. You still have one of these guys as your second receiver, and then you can still,
or take two and just go HeroRB. So you start Chase Brown, CD Lamb, or probably you go Chase Brown,
Jefferson in that regard, or Lamb Hampton.
I might get Lamb Brown. You could get Lamb Brown. And then you go to our receivers, and so you
just go with a Hero RB approach. Right. But then you're in late round five, and we're right back in
in that conversation. We had six minutes ago. But your receivers are amazing. Yeah, the receivers are
amazing. You can't do this in non-PPR, but in full
PPR that works. Well, Team 12
did this in the pick-by-pick that we're going to do.
Team 12, do I have that up?
Yeah, Team 12 went A-chan.
Oh, sort of. A-chan, London,
McMillan in round three and Loveland in round
four, but that could have been McConkey.
And then got Scataboo and Marshaun Lloyd
at 60 and 61, which
I just don't think, like Scadaboo at
60 was a real, like, wow,
great pick, but that could have been
Montgomery and Marshaun Lloyd,
something like that.
Okay.
That's pretty...
Oh, one more tough call from Victor.
Took Puka at seven,
couldn't pass Bowers in round two.
So I had a tough call
with the running backs
still available in a 12-team league.
Yeah, I don't know.
So the running backs versus Bowers?
I wasn't sure if you meant the running backs
in round three.
That's how I'm interpreting it.
Yeah, like if you go the first two rounds
without running backs
and you have kind of a later pick,
or because it doesn't really matter where you pick.
Which running backs would you like to come away with in rounds three and four,
maybe just one of those two rounds?
Three and four?
I think you're looking at Giovante.
You're looking at Travis A. Chan, DeAndre Swift,
Kiron Williams, Jeremiah Love, you know,
that's the group of guys you're dealing with either late round three or early round four.
Brees is in that range, too.
Brice as well, yeah.
Okay, I've got some comments about me that.
Of course you're going to read that.
We'll see if.
Oh, yeah.
Look, we're going to read this, sure.
We can save it for the end.
One of them is.
Aren't you doing a solo show today?
You could just talk about yourself?
Yeah, there you go.
At noon Eastern.
Adam looks like he brings a clipboard to a cookout.
What does that mean?
I mean, you brought your laptop to a date on the beach.
That's also not, it was not a date.
We will come back after this with our pick-by-pick series.
Were you meeting a woman there?
I was.
I married her.
Yes.
That sounds like a date.
I mean, listen, she loves your quirks.
That's the most important thing.
But you did bring a laptop to the beach, correct?
I did because I was that dedicated of an employee.
And you were wearing jeans correctly?
No, I was not wearing jeans.
That's why Nando's an idiot.
I was not wearing jeans to the beach.
Did you wear sneakers?
Did you wear sneakers?
Did you wear shone?
No, we're still mad at me.
I have no freaking idea what he's mad at me about, but he's mad at me and I'm seeing him
tomorrow.
All right.
We'll talk to you.
We'll be back in two and two and two on fantasy football today.
I'm going to talk to you right now about Omaha Steaks.

Okay, here we go with the pick by pick.
And yeah, I have like just a couple of questions because we'll never get to the whole show
if we do our normal thing here.
But all right, pick one was Jamie, right?
Yes, yes.
All right.
So you took Jamir Gibbs and then you took Brock Bowers and Chris Olave.
Why did you decide that was the right time to take Brock Bowers?
And which wide receivers would have had to have been on the board for you to not take Brock Bowers at the two-three turn?
Oh, I would have been perfectly fine taking Olave and Neighbors or Olave and Devante Smith.
So it really wasn't a question of which receivers were on the board because there was plenty of options for me.
but to walk away with the number one running back and the number one tight end and the upside for both those players,
it's hard to pass up.
So that's the range that I like to consider Brock Bowers.
I think you still can get good receivers as you saw what was available to me in the 5-6, right?
No, the 4-5 turn, excuse me.
Terry McCorn was there, Parker Washington was there, Javante Williams there.
Like, I'm fine with those guys as, you know, number two receivers.
just knowing that Bowers has the upside that he has.
And if we're being realistic here,
the ADP suggests I probably have better options at receiver than those guys
if I go that route also.
So, you know, no real run on quarterbacks,
as we see here with Josh Allen not going to round four.
There's probably three or four quarterbacks off the board by that point
that pushes some receiver talent back to me or some running back talent back to me.
So I really think Bowers is going to be an absolute monster this season.
Yeah, my question, though, was like if Nico
Pickens.
Oh, I'm sorry.
You're saying if it was the other way around.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If it was
Nico, I'm just being realistic, I guess.
Nico Pickens, probably,
Rice?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, AJ Brown's probably not going to get
to the two three turn,
but Nico Pickens, Rice,
like two of those three
could definitely get there.
Would you have taken Bowers in that scenario
or would you've gone Gibbs, receiver, receiver?
I would have gone, if it was
Nico Pickens,
Olave, I'd probably take two of those guys.
if it was any of them or sorry, one of them and rice like it was, I would probably go Bowers.
So I think I have a Bowers rice in my rankings.
So I prefer Bowers over Rice.
Second question, Jamie, is this is a three receiver league PPR.
So we're looking at here is pick by pick where me, Dave, Jamie, Heath, Dan, and Jacob each had two picks.
One pick in the first half, one pick in the second half of the round.
So this is a PPR league with one quarterback, one tight end, two running backs, three receivers and a flex.
Do you like your receivers, Olave, McLaren, Brian Thomas, Jr.?
Yes, but you have to throw Bowers in the conversation there just based on what the upside is.
So I love Olave.
I like McLaren.
A little concerned about Thomas.
You know, so I don't remember who the fourth receiver is.
I'm sorry.
Carnal Tames.
Yeah.
So it starts, you know, it's a very slippery slope as we get down there.
there, you know, in terms of who the other players are.
And since doing this draft, I've dropped Tate even further.
So I would have taken Sutton.
I think just, again, the idea would be is you have to understand when you take a tight end
early or if you want to, you know, make it a quarterback early, that you're going to be a little
deficient someplace else.
And so my whole in this roster is number three receiver.
So the high end potential of this team, though, is.
number one running back, number one tight end, potential top five receiver.
And then decent number two receiver, decent number two running back.
But like this is, I don't know I say it's like a studs and duds approach,
but it's very high end in terms of if those guys hit to the potential that they're going to hit,
like that's what you're looking at for those three guys to, you know,
basically carry a lot of what my team's going to be.
Okay.
And his quarterback is Trevor Lawrence.
So Team 1. Team 1 is fun.
I came up with a really fun team names for all of these.
One is fun.
Has Trevor Lawrence, a quarterback, Brock Bowers at tight end,
Jemir Gibbs, Quinchan Judkins at running back,
Olave, McLaurin, Brian Thomas Jr.
And the flex will be Rico Dattle or Carnell Tate.
Okay, next team, team two.
I have a question for you.
Yeah.
Okay, so go ahead to set up your team.
Two loves you is team two.
And I took Jamar Chase instead of Bijon Robbins.
And I will tell you that if you have that decision, you're probably going to feel a lot more comfortable with your team if you take Bejean Robinson in round one, just because the things we've been talking about for the last eight years, those running backs, they dry up pretty quickly. But what's your question?
That was what my question is going to be. So knowing that you can get two receivers in rounds two and three, most likely, now you took Travis Aten a little bit ahead of his ADP and I think we're a lot of people who haven't ranked.
but if you look at the way that it would have played out,
so Bijan Rice, let's say you go Neighbors,
you like your start better?
I like Devante Smith better than neighbors.
So Bejohn.
So Bejohn Rice Smith or Chase Rice,
Ace, A-Chin, Travis A-Chin.
Yeah, so it's basically a team with Rishie Rice
and either Jamar Chase and Travis A-chan
or Bejohn-Robinson and Devante Smith.
I would go with Bejohn-Robinson.
So doing again, that's what you would do.
Yeah, it's just like, just have this thing where it's like I'd rather trust the Bengals offense than the Falcons offense.
But I understand most people are going to take Bejan too.
That's overwhelmingly the ADP.
So, yeah, you're going to feel more comfortable.
Now, right, the question for this team here is, yeah, if you, I think this is really more of, for most people who are picking third.
But for me, it's picking second because I did go Jamar Chase.
And if you go wide receiver, wide receiver, what do you do in round three?
because whichever running back you take there, unless Genty falls to you,
is going to be a quote unquote reach based on average draft position.
Did I take Travis A. Chan too early?
I also could have taken Jeremiah Love, Giovante Williams, Brees Hall,
Kyrin Williams, DeAndre Swift, or something like that.
Did I make a mistake, Dave, in taking Travis A. Chan?
Because we just talked about all those running backs in round five.
I don't want to be so reliant.
I don't want to have two guys after the first four rounds.
you know, so I'm okay with it, but don't love it.
But did I make a mistake with A-chan in round three?
I think you made a mistake on two fronts.
Number one, I would have taken Jeremiah Love and his upside over Travis A-chan.
I understand that A-chan was a good running back last year in Jackson.
Really, he got a lot of work.
He's in a good offense again this year.
We think we are going to see good things from the Saints.
And he should be a feature back there.
I would rather have Jeremiah Love.
I would rather have Javante Williams, both of the.
them went after H&. And so I think you took the wrong running back. The second one is you passed up
Trey McBride, who I'm still believing in as is a difference making tight end for fantasy real close
to Bowers, if not ahead of Bowers in full PPR. In my opinion, he is ahead of Bowers in full PPR.
And if you had gone with that approach of Rice, Chase, and let's say not a running back,
you could have just started hammering RBs in round four. It's kind of a zero RB approach.
you could have had Quinnshot Judkins in late round four.
You could have had Ramandre or Judarian Price in round five.
It wouldn't be the best running backs for your team,
but you'd just think about the studs that you would have
with your first three picks and you'd feel a lot better about it.
I wouldn't feel a bad about those names.
Hold on a second.
Hold on a second.
We have somebody here joining us.
Oh, come on.
I don't want to do this.
Hey, man.
That's what you said, call me.
Yeah, Adam thinks you're mad at him.
Why?
We're probably skipping the party tomorrow because I don't want to.
No way. That can't be no way.
Do you hear him?
Yeah, he'll see. I guess you'll see tomorrow.
You don't skip the party. That's ridiculous. Why would you do that? Why would you punish yourself?
I don't get the party.
All right. We'll settle this afterwards. I don't know why you're mad. I did literally nothing to this man.
You know why. No, I don't. I honestly don't. I have no idea.
All right. I'll call you back.
Oh, weird. It's so weird.
Did you tell everybody I'm hurt?
No, bye.
All right, all right. I'll talk to later. Bye.
It's so weird, man. I really, like, I did nothing.
What did you do?
I told him to not try to sell the posters of my brother,
photoshopped into movie posters or whatever.
Like, I was like, it's not me. It's my brother.
I can't do that. And he got mad at me for that?
I don't know.
Anyway, all right.
So that's just, you know, look, maybe I took the wrong running back
according to Dave.
Let's just say hypothetically, Dave,
I had taken Jeremiah Love there.
Would you-
Okay.
Not Javante Williams.
Williams would have been who I would have taken.
If I was dead set on a running back,
that's the one I would have taken.
Okay, fine.
Did you consider not taking a running back
and just going either Smith or McBride?
So this is a tough spot for people that are picking early in round one.
It is a tough spot.
This is tough.
So I'm looking at my rankings.
I would have taken McBride.
And I would have had the differentiator at tight end.
and then just tried to find some running back starting in round four.
So let me tell you the two guys that if they had made it back to me in round four,
I would have been comfortable with going receiver, receiver, receiver, or receiver,
tight end.
But again, Jamie always says no who you're drafting with.
I didn't think they'd make it to me and they didn't.
ADP says they have a better chance of making it to you at two.
So you have the second pick or the third pick.
You take Jamar Chase, you take a wide receiver, then you take another wide receiver
or a tight end, Trey McBride,
if Bucky Irving,
not in that order,
if D'Andre Swift or Bucky Irving
had made it back to me in round four,
if I had felt confident that they would be there,
I would not have taken Travis A. Chan in round three.
But I didn't think they would
because I know this group
and I just felt like they'd go earlier.
And they did.
Swift went mid-round four.
Bucky Irving went two picks before mine.
So those were the two guys that I was thinking,
okay, if I could get them as my RB1 in round four,
and ADP says you could.
So maybe you don't have to do what I did.
I just didn't think they'd be there.
I didn't want Quinn John Judkins to be my RB1.
There's one other point if I may make it.
Yeah, and then we'll move on to Team 3.
Achan is your guy.
You believe in him.
You like you.
You want him on your team.
That might be the most important point we make here.
When you're drafting this weekend, take your guys, get the guy you want.
You don't have to follow ADP.
We talk about it all the time.
I think Jamie just mentioned it recently on one of our shows.
It's just something huge.
When you like somebody, don't worry about ADP,
get your guy.
And if A. Chan was your guy,
then you shouldn't care that.
Oh, I like Javentay Barre.
You shouldn't care about that.
Just get your guy.
All right.
Pick three.
What is it?
Oh, pick one is one is fun.
Pick two is two loves you.
Pick three.
And three is the broken skull crushers.
Three loves me.
Broken skull crushers.
Bejohn Robinson,
AJ Brown.
Terrific start.
Trey McBride.
Was this you, Dave?
Yeah.
Okay.
Trey McBride.
this is a team. Who else would take Trey McBride in early round three?
A lot of people would. And Trey McBride, so this is a team that has an elite tight end and a top five, top three quarterback in Drake May with your first six picks here.
So May went really late. I don't think you're going to expect him to go late in round six most drafts.
But how do you like your build investing a lot in a tight end and a quarterback for six rounds?
I don't have a problem doing that in the first six rounds. This is going to sound not.
nitpicky though. I do have a problem and I've found myself having problems when I take a top
tier tight end and a top tier quarterback within my first five picks. There's something about that
difference between the first five picks and the first six picks. You get just a little bit more
breathing room to build your roster and your lineup the way that you want to when you're not taking
the onesie positions a little bit too soon. So I made it a point round five, there wasn't a quarterback I
would have taken in that spot anyway. So I knew that I was going to wait a while. Plus, I want
wanted to get wide receivers. This is a three receiver league. I wasn't interested in taking a
quarterback in rounds four and five when I knew I needed to target wide receivers. I loved the start.
I've had maybe a little bit of buyer's remorse over DJ Moore ahead of Quinn Sean Judkins.
I would imagine that in a full PPR league by the time we get to the end of the season, it'll be close
between those two. And the reason why I was jittery is because my number two running back is
Jacori Kroski Merritt. And Jamie talked about you're going to have a weak spot on your team somewhere.
I opted for my weak spot to be RB2.
The way that I combat that is the thing that I do in every single draft I'm in.
And that just take a lot of running backs late and hope that one of them can be my RB2 to begin the season.
Fingers crossed, it's Crosky Merit.
Next round after I got Merit, I got Mike Washington Jr.
If there's a world where Ashton Gentie doesn't play in week one, then obviously Washington Jr.
would be my RV2.
But I love the start.
I love the stack of May and A.J. Brown as well.
And in a full PPR, I think this is a really, really good team.
Don't know why you took chase over Bejohn Robinson, Adam, but I'm grateful that you did.
Yep.
So team three, again, if you want to wait on running back, he takes Bejohn Robinson as the hero RB,
Jacori Kroski Merritt and Mike Washington in rounds seven and eight, and Zach Charbonnet in
round 10, Najee Harris in round 13.
But the starting lineup is Drake May, Trey McBride, Bejohn Robinson, Jacorri Krosky Merritt,
and then a terrific trio of receivers, AJ Brown, D.J.
Jay Moore, Parker, Washington, and the flex is probably Cortin Sutton.
We should probably revisit this if you had taken Bejohn 2 and I took chase at 3,
because that's going to be what happens in most leagues.
Most people are going to get Jamar Chase at 3.
If I take Chase at 3, do I still take AJ Brown in late round 2?
In this case, I believe I will.
And then in round 3, do I take Cherry McBride or do I take Giovante Williams?
It's a tough call between those two for me.
I think I'd still lean McBride over Giovante,
but then I would absolutely not take DJ more in round four.
That would be Quinn John Juggins.
And then Washington versus one of those running backs in that round five range,
Price, Montgomery, Tuton, Ramandre,
that's a tougher call for me.
I probably take the running back there instead of Parker.
Team four.
Four scores more.
This is one of the two teams that did a wide receiver,
wide receiver, wide receiver build.
And this is a three-receiver league, but you could do this in a two-receiver league as well.
So team four went receiver, receiver, receiver, and then four straight running backs.
And it's Pooka-Nak-Nak-Nak-Nabors, Bucky-Urving, Ramandre Stevenson, still Judari-Price,
Bachel Tutank Scataboo were on the board, but Team 4 wanted Remandre Stevenson, Jalen Warren and Jordan Mason.
And then Stefan Diggs, Dejohn, Stribbling.
my only beef with this team is like,
I don't think you need to take six running backs
or five wide receivers before you take your quarterback
and your tight end.
I don't think you have to have Kyler Murray and Dallas Goddard, Jamie.
So I think I love the first seven picks.
Puka, Nico, neighbors,
Bucky, Stevenson, Jalen Warren, Jordan Mason.
And then after that, I mean, I feel like you could take,
you could take a higher end tight end like,
well, Kelsey got it, whatever.
a huge deal. But I'm looking at the quarterback. Like could have taken Dak Prescott, could have taken
Trevor Lawrence. I don't know. I understand waiting on, on those positions, but I think this team
waited too long. Well, potentially. I mean, you know, unless you just have that strong, I'm assuming
is Dan. So you probably have that strong. I think it's Jacob. That was Jacob? Okay. I mean,
they probably share a brain. Share brand. Yeah. Very long. You know that Kyler is, you know,
I know a favorite of Dan. So I assume Jacob probably likes him also. So you're just
getting the quarterback that you like.
So if that's the case and you have a grade on Kyler that's similar to some of those
other guys, then you just wait it out as long as you want to.
I love this build.
You got to get a little lucky and I think you do here by getting Irving, Stevenson,
Warren, and Mason.
Like you could have four starting running backs there, two that could still qualify as a very
good number two running backs in Irving and Stevenson, too.
That could be high-end flexes or number two running backs in Warren and Mason.
So it worked out well, assuming that the three receivers do what they're capable of
doing. So if you're comfortable enough with this, you're going to feel queasy. But if you're
comfortable enough with this, like this is what you want to do at the three spot, at the four
spot, at the five spot, potentially the six and seven spots, depending on, you know, where
those, you know, picks go with, you know, JSN and Amara St. Brown and how the running backs fall to you.
So you see it happen again, two picks later with, with the JSN selection. So at six. So it can
work out really well, but you've got to get lucky with the running backs. I think, obviously,
if you're watching this, it's easier to see than if you're just listening.
easier to follow along. YouTube.com slash fantasy football today. It's also on the site if you want to
follow along while you're listening to. Good. Thank you very much. Um, but yeah, team four went receiver,
receiver, receiver, receiver, receiver. Team five went running back, running back, running back. And team six
went receiver, receiver, receiver. So we'll see which builds we like better. We'll talk about
team five. We're going to take a little break here and then we'll talk about team five, which is team number
Johnny five. And there's no way Dan gets that reference. This is Dan's team. But yeah, I think we, we
definitely think that this three receiver build works for you. Puka, Nico, neighbors,
Bucky, Stevenson, Warren, Mason. Yeah, again, I think you can probably go a little earlier
on quarterback and or tight end, but Dallas Goddert and Kyler Murray, you could do worse.
All right. We'll be right back to talk about team five, which is running back, running back,
and the fatal flaw that this team might have. And I don't want to call it a mistake, but something
you might not want to do when we come back on fantasy football today.
So we like the three receiver build, three receivers with your first three picks at pick four.
Do we like three running backs with your first three picks at pick five?
Dan picked Christian McCaffrey, Ashton Genty, Jeremiah Love, and then a Mecca Abuka as his wide receiver won.
And no risk.
Yeah, we've got two ankles and a toe there and Christian McCaffrey.
When Christian McCaffrey is the healthiest player on your team with the first four picks, that could be a little much.
but just the build of McCaffrey,
Gentie, Love,
Abuka, Jameson, William's, Quentin, Johnston,
Kyle Pitts, Justin Herbert,
and then Flex, oh no, we already have our Flex and Love.
Yeah, I don't know.
That's it.
That's your starting lineup.
I like it, Dave.
McCaffrey, Genty, Love,
Abuka, Jameson, William, Quentin Johnston,
Kyle Pitts, Justin Herbert.
Dan's playing for first or last.
He's not trying to take any safe.
guards, he's willing to take the chance on Christian McCaffrey, he's buying the dip on Ash and
Gentie and Jeremiah Love. Answer this question. If Gentie had never been hurt, would he even be in
this conversation in mid to late round two? If Jeremiah Love had ever been hurt, would he ever be in
the conversation of early middle round three? Yes, yes. But I don't think Gentine probably would
have been around two, but I think Henry probably would have fallen close to that spot because
Gentie was going in the first round.
Maybe.
But I think he's buying the dip on Gentie and Love by getting them in these spots.
And Abuka, we should throw him in the mix, too.
Is he a late round four pick if he doesn't hurt his school?
Yeah, Abuka fell.
I don't think Love, this was kind of the range for him to begin with.
And Genty was anywhere from round one to this spot.
So it's a little bit lower.
I remember loves ADP being closer to the two, three turn.
It, I mean.
Maybe.
It doesn't matter.
I wouldn't constitute this as a dip.
I think if you're getting him late,
round three or early round four,
that's falling from where he was.
The thing that I just don't love about this,
no pun intended,
is like you're passing,
I would have taken receiver in round three,
especially with Devante Smith staring his face.
So like you go,
those two running backs,
they're great.
You could have easily,
you know,
to me the lineup looks a lot better.
If it's McCaffrey,
Gentysmith,
Abuka,
Jameson,
and then if Quentin's your flexor,
or you want to go another running back there.
Like,
I like that a lot better.
You could have had Warren at running back
or Pollard.
All right, but look, it could work.
Obviously, the round two...
Any of these could work.
The round two pick has to be one of those top 12 running backs.
If not, you're not taking them,
and Gentie's probably going to be 12th at this point.
But McCaffrey, Genty, Jeremiah Love,
now that could have been Giovante Williams instead.
Emeka, Bucca, James,
Quentin Johnston, you know, not bad.
And then Herbert hits.
All right, moving on to 6th.
Let me just add, this wouldn't be my favorite way to build,
but I don't hate the idea of I'm going to shoot for the moon
and get as many high upside players as I can early.
We always talk about getting high upside players late.
Dan's applying that to literally every pick that he made.
And team six, six, go Nix.
Is Jeremiah, no, is Jackson Smith in Jigba?
I mean, shouldn't it be Nixon five?
Oh, like for Team 5, but I love making a Johnny 5 reference, you know.
Yeah.
Why talk about a generation?
championship when you can refer to a
average 1980s movie.
Because I did it with Team 6.
Team 6 is 6. Go Nix.
Jeremiah, geez, I did it again.
Jackson, Smith, and Jigba.
George Pickens, Zayflower.
So this is the other team that went,
receiver, receiver, receiver.
This is Heath's team, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah.
James texting me during our IDP
draft yesterday that I drafted
four of his six most rostered
players.
Oh, that's tough.
in an IDP league.
In an IDP league
because we were on opposite ends,
I think I had the second pick.
I ended up with pickens,
pits,
no.
You didn't get pits.
Oh, maybe you did.
It was pickens,
burden.
I don't remember.
But as he was like,
I said,
maybe I'm using your rankings.
Sounds like you two
are going to make a trade down the line.
JSN, Pickens, and Flowers.
So the difference is between this team and team four,
Team 4 went receiver, receiver, receiver, and then four running backs.
Team 6 went receiver, receiver, receiver, and then running back, tight end, running back, running back.
So three running backs with the next four picks.
And again, a quarterback in round 8.
So another good build here.
It's Jalen Hertz at quarterback, Sam LaPorteurta at tight end,
J.S.N. Pickens and Flowers at receiver.
D'Andre Swift, Jonathan Brooks, and J.K. Dobbins at running back and maybe flex.
could also flex D.K. Metcalfe in there. We have Woody Marks. We have Brock Purdy on the bench,
Trey Tucker. So yeah, another way you could build the team. It's pretty solid. But what do you think
about going to war with DeAndre Swift, Jonathan Brooks, J.K. Dobbins, Woody Marks, and Dylan
Samson, Dave? I'd be nervous about going to war with them. But this is the price you pay for going
receiver, receiver, receiver in the middle of the draft. So, round one, obviously you're in the
middle of every single round.
And getting those first two receivers, this is almost the same thing of what Jamie talked
about with Dan's team.
When you start your team with JASN and Pickens, that's great.
Like, no one's going to complain about that duo.
But do you even look at Javante Williams who was available there?
Do you look at Breece Hall?
Do you look at Kyron Williams?
Because you might be able to get, you could definitely could have been able to get one
of those guys plus Neander Swift.
Then you don't have Zay Flowers.
He took flowers in round three because that's one of his guys.
And so I can't fault him for that.
I would have taken a running back there.
But if he had taken Devate Smith instead of Zayflowers,
T. Higgins instead of Zayflowers,
I would have liked it a lot better.
I wonder how he would have felt if,
because I decided to take Josh Allen and run four,
I felt he just felt too far.
That would probably, in most cases,
be DeAndre Swift for me because I take him in almost every draft.
I'm guessing he would have gone Judkins.
If what?
He might have gone out.
If I had taken.
Swift.
He might have gone out.
It's true.
But let's assume it's not a quarterback.
So does it look as good as Fitzjuckins?
Over Swift?
No, I mean, Swift.
Swift looks...
I'd rather Swift.
Yeah, I think Swift fell a little bit in this draft.
So, assuming he's healthy.
It just, like, that kind of saved him, in my opinion.
Okay.
I agree.
Well, that helped him, for sure.
Well, let's see.
I mean, I don't know that he fell.
The real-time ADP for Fantasy Pros is four.
Well, I mean, we can't judge that because we're the quarterbacks are.
I'm just saying, are we using the real time or not?
Why wouldn't I use the real time?
No, I'm saying you can, but it's not realistic of what our drafts are represented.
Our drafts.
Our draft, he's going 38th.
NFC, he's going 45th over the last week.
So I think it's pretty realistic that Andrew Swift is there in the middle of round four.
Yep.
What's the CBS ADP?
38.
38, yeah.
She's just higher there.
I don't know what the reasoning for that is.
But okay.
All right.
Team 6.
Oh, wait, just to compare teams 4 and 6,
as they both went receiver,
receiver, receiver, then a running back.
But Team 4 has Ramandre Stevenson as RB2
and Dallas Goddard at tight end.
Team 6 has Sam Leporta at tight end
and Jonathan Brooks is RB2.
Anyway, team 4 is better running back depth, though.
So for whatever he loses from Leporta to
Goddard, his depth that running back is way better than what Heath has.
All right.
Pick seven here, which is seven minute abs.
This was Jamie.
He took Josh Allen in round four, 42nd overall.
So that's the only quarterback you would have taken there, right?
Oh, for sure.
Okay.
This is a pretty balanced team, Team seven here.
We've got a running back, we got receiver, running back, receiver, quarterback,
running back, receiver.
So you're starting Alan, likely, who you took 90th overall, Derek Henry and Judari in Price,
St. Brown, Devante Smith, Marvin Harrison, Jr. My question for you here, I guess, would have been,
what do you think is a better start? Amon Ross St. Brown, Derek Henry and Devante Smith,
which is what you did, or I'm on Ross St. Brown, A.J. Brown, and J. Brown, and J.
Williams. So it's Henry and
Devante Smith in two and three, or
AJ Brown and J. Bronte Williams in rounds two and three?
What's a better start for this team?
The way I did it.
I agree. Dave,
Henry and Devante Smith.
I don't have a problem with it one, but.
A.J. Brown and J.Vanté Williams. Which one would you prefer?
Yeah. Henry and Smith is good.
Okay. Yeah. It's a really good team.
And the quarterback value, just staring him in the face.
Honestly, I don't think we have to talk about this team that much.
Let's go to pick eight.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to shortchange you, but nothing but running backs and receivers in the first seven rounds.
And then George Kittle in round eight, Juan Johnson to back up George Kittle.
The pick on this team that's just kind of ridiculous is Dak Prescott 113th overall.
That's net.
His ADP is like 59.
Yeah.
So you can look at this team and say, do I like this team if that pick is Jared Gough instead of Dak Prescott?
But, yeah, so it's Cook, Barkley, T. Higgins, Kairn Williams, Christian Watson, Chris Godwin.
One thing I'd point out about this team is that it's a PPR League.
And we've got James Cook, Sequin Barclay, T. Higgins, Kairn Williams, Christian Watson with the first five picks.
None of those guys are catch standouts.
Does that matter?
I think that's probably a little bit of a nitpick.
But the expectation is that Cook and Barclay should be more involved in their offenses catching the ball this year than they were last year.
Higgins, if healthy, will offset some of the reception issues with his touchdowns.
Kyran, I think, is just amazing value in round four.
I think that's him falling to that spot is good.
And then hopefully you get just healthy seasons from Watson and Gobbin.
Like, you drafted very well here.
you could probably say, okay, maybe you don't take Kyran since you went running back, running back,
and you had the chance to take Abuka or DJ Moore, you know, as one of those, you know,
I think high-end, you know, wide receiver twos, especially if Abuka's healthy.
But I think you covered yourself well just how it fell with Watson in round five and Godwin in round six.
So you did really well here.
I wouldn't worry about like, oh, I don't have a strictly past catching running back as one of my two or three guys.
where I don't have a high reception total guy
as one of my top two receivers.
I think Godwin could be that guy,
but it's questionable.
So I really think you did a great job here,
just capitalizing on some great value picks
and guys that just give you such tremendous options.
And just to compare the two teams in seven and eight,
because that was me and you.
Are you and me?
Excuse me?
That you waited on a quarterback
and ended up with just a steal.
So to go back to knowing who you're drafting with,
I, when the minute I took Josh Allen and I,
and I didn't see any other quarterback go until Lamar Jack was like,
oh man, I hate this.
You know, like, it doesn't do with Josh Allen,
just taking that position.
And so then seeing you take Dak Prescott where you got him,
like if I took DeAndre Swift there, like I love that team even more,
knowing that I could have gotten, let's just say all the quarterbacks get pushed
down and I take somebody else where I took, let's say, Marvin Harrison.
Yeah, last point I'll make about this team.
If you're in a league that starts two flexes or three wide receivers or something,
for me, the ones I feel the most comfortable with,
doesn't mean they're going to be the best,
but the ones I leave them like,
okay,
I like this team,
is the ones where I pretty much wait
on both quarterback and tight end
and just load up on running back and receiver.
And then drafting Kyron Williams,
so Cook, Barclay, Higgins,
and then Kyrin in round four
instead of a Buka or DJ Moore.
That allowed me to skip rounds five and six
at running back,
which we talk about as the Ick rounds,
and taking Christian Watson and Chris Godwin.
And I just,
I was really happy with,
those two picks preferred them so much to add the running backs I would have taken there.
All right, except I really do like Marshawn Lloyd. If he had made it back to me in round six,
I would have had to have taken him even as a fourth running back, but that's just me.
All right. Number nine, nine. Team nine, torture demon hell ride.
Or nine saw the sign. So Dave picked this one. Shout out Wesley Willis, RIP.
You went running back receiver, running back receiver. Jonathan Taylor, just, just,
Jefferson, Javante Williams, and Garrett Wilson.
In retrospect, and then you got Tyler Warren 57th, which was really good value.
And then David Montgomery and Joe Burrow, 81st, which is insane value.
This is a great team.
But was Justin Jefferson the right pick?
You went Taylor won Jefferson over Barclay and Henry and Genty.
Then Javante Williams and Garrett Wilson.
Do you think in retrospect Justin Jefferson was the right pick in round two?
Not only do I think it was the right pick.
I feel like I got good value on every single one of my.
my first seven picks in this draft.
I loved this team.
I think Jonathan Taylor should go before ninth overall.
I think Jefferson is, I mean, it's a little bit of a value for Jefferson.
This is about the range that he's going to go in, but I've seen Jefferson late round one,
early round two.
Javate, to me, is an early round three running back.
The fact that he went late round three is good value.
Garrett Wilson, this is about the range for him.
This is about the range for Tyler Warren.
I thought Montgomery for, we talk about Montgomery in the round five, Ick.
well, he's a round six stick.
I don't know.
I sure as hell I'm going to take anybody that I'm nervous about taking in round five,
but I can get them in round six.
That feels like a win.
And then I practice what I preach.
Joe Burrow felt like an absolute steal in round seven.
Okay, good pick here.
Again, a very balanced team,
running back receiver, running back receiver.
Now as we get toward the one-two turn and we have picks 10, 11, 12,
we've talked a lot about going RBRB,
wide receiver, wide receiver,
if you're picking late.
And Team 10 did exactly that.
Team 10 wins again.
Chase Brown, Kenneth Walker,
Luther Burden, Ladd-McConkie.
And, you know, if you didn't love the Luther Burden pick
at 34 overall, that could have been McMillan or Waddle or McConkey,
and maybe get Garrett Wilson or Abuka in the next round.
But Jamie, we know we like running back, running back,
wide receiver, wide receiver.
With pick 10, we have
Bejel Tootin over Cam Scataboo in round
five. Do we think Scatabu
fell too far in this draft at 60th?
We never saw Tutin go ahead of him.
Do you think Team 10 made the right call
taking Tutton over Scataboo?
I have Tootin over Scataboo, so yes,
I co-sign that.
I'm nervous about Scataboo just with the committee
and what this could be for him.
So committee potentially in Jacksonville,
I think the offense is better in Jacksonville.
So despite maybe some scheduled concerns, I would still take two in overscataboo right now, given the uncertainty for both.
But, yeah, I think this build is great.
Brown and Walker are awesome, two of my favorites.
Like you said, I would have probably flip-flop the receivers and just taking McConkey first.
But to get McConkey in round four is amazing.
And so, you know, if you don't love those two receivers, could have had McConkey and Wilson,
could have had Wilson, you know, Wilson-McConkie, whatever, you know, Waddle or Tet.
Any of those guys, you know, make a ton of sense there.
Even Abuka was available.
So I love this build.
I love this team.
You know, if there is maybe a nitpick, it's, you know, did you take craft over maybe another wide receiver just because we start three receivers in this league?
And could you have come back and take another tight end the next round?
But I think it just ended up in a really good spot.
If there is a hole, it might be wide receiver three.
But if you love downs and pitman and that combination, just sort of mixing and matching it, you should be great.
Yeah, that was actually my question for you, right?
So this is a really good question at a tough call for teams picking late.
here. Chase Brown, Ken Walker, starting from the 10th pick, Chase Brown, Ken Walker, Luther
Bird and Ladd-McConkie, Bejel Tootin. Was Tucker Kraft the right pick at 63 overall? Could have taken,
let's put probably a wide receiver there to get your number three wide receiver. Mike Evans had
just gone off the board. Could have taken Chris Godwin, Marvin Harrison, Jr., Quentin Johnston,
Brian Thomas Jr. Those are probably the only wide receivers in play there. If this team,
10 wins again, had taken Chase Brown, Ken Walker, Luther Bird, and Lab,
Conkey, Bejel Tootin, Chris Godwin.
You now have three running backs, three receivers, and in round
seven, you could have taken
maybe Harold Fann & Jr., but almost
certainly George Kittle and Isaiah likely.
In fact, ADP says you can get Isaiah
likely in round nine or ten.
Is that better than taking Tucker Kraft
63rd overall, Dave?
I think it is by a little bit.
I don't mind craft in early
round six, one bit because I think
he can be, I think he can
finish as a top three fantasy tight end
if he can say healthy and if the Packers run game can't get going.
But those are ifs.
And I think I would have preferred taking, like if you really value Evans and even if you
don't, you could have taken O'Dunze where Jacob took Tutin.
And then you could have gotten one of those settle four RB2s where he took craft or
you could have just taken craft and hammered running backs in round 7, 8, 9.
And remember, this is a three receiver league.
If you're in a two receiver league, then it makes that craft pick, you know,
more palatable, I suppose.
All right, team 11.
Team 11 and team 12 both started similarly.
11 is heaven.
Went Lamb and Hampton and 12 on the shelf.
Couldn't really come up with anything.
Yeah, that's what everybody calls their team.
Yeah.
Big 12.
A. Chan in London.
We'll look at 11 here.
Lamb and Hampton.
Jalen Waddle, Breeze Hall.
Romo Dunzee, Mike Evans.
So you've got your starting running
backs and your three receivers and a flex in your first six picks.
Lamb, Hampton, Waddle, Breeze Hall, Romo Dunzee, Mike Evans with your first six picks,
Harold Fanon Jr. in round seven, Patrick Mahomes in round 11 and Malik Willis in round 13.
I guess, Jamie, we could say maybe this team could have gone kiddle and likely over Fanon,
but whatever.
How about Patrick Mahomes and Malik Willis as your quarterback duo?
Because other than that, I don't know how you can be upset with Lamb, Hampton, Waddle.
Maybe you don't like Waddle there, but there's whatever, pick a wide receiver, McConkey.
Breezee, O'Donzee, Evans, tight end, Jordan Addison for depth, Chris Rodriguez, Emmett Johnson.
I think it's really good.
But Mahomes and Malik Willis, did this team wait too long to get quarterback?
Did they take Mahomes over somebody better?
Golf.
Okay, so I would have preferred golf.
If you tell me he's golf, then.
A plus plus.
And Stafford, too.
Yeah, I would have taken either of those quarterbacks over my homes, but sure.
But this is like, any comments on this build?
Do we like this team?
Like this build a lot.
Yeah.
Again, you could swap out some of the players.
So, like, I don't mind Waddle in that range of receivers.
I would have, you know, preferred McConkey.
So you put McConkey there.
And, you know, then Breece Hall in round four is great.
O'Donzee, you know, you can clearly debate O'Donzee versus Evans.
But I think O'Donzee's fine, assuming he's healthy.
You swap out, fan in for Kittle or lightly.
That's great.
Addison, that spot is perfect.
So just keep going down.
And the quarterback is probably just the biggest issue.
What is better as a build for pick 11?
What did I say?
I said, so this team took London and Hampton.
Which?
London and Hampton.
Sorry, took Lamb and Hampton.
Okay, okay, I'm sorry.
This team went Lamb Hampton Waddle Hall.
What's better?
That build, or this team?
could have had A. Chan, Hampton, Waddle, McConkey.
You know, the running back, running back, receiver, receiver, or in this case,
Lamb, Hampton, Waddle Hall.
So both teams would have had Hampton and Waddle, but would you rather have
Lamb and Brees Hall with Hampton and Waddle or A. Chan and McConkey with Hampton and Waddle?
I think this is evidence that Dan doesn't subscribe to the all or nothing kind of
theory that he did with his earlier team. Remember, he's the one that took McCaffrey, Gentie,
love. He bought the dip on all those players that've got some injury history going on right now,
and there's huge upside with them. This feels a little bit safer, and I don't hate what he did,
knowing that when you take Lamb in round one, he's the last elite wide receiver. You can make the case for
Jefferson, too, I guess, if you really like Kyler. I would have taken Lamb here, and then I probably
would have hammered running back just as he did with Hampton in round two. And I, I don't
I don't mind his team. I would have taken McConkey over Waddle. The build, that's what you're asking about?
I mean, look, you know, I have a better question. I think the build that he went with is fine.
But if he were to really like lean into upside only, A. Chan would have been the pick in round one.
Walker would have been the pick in round two. And then in rounds three and four, I'm, I probably would have taken Loveland in round three and then McConkey in round four.
Okay. And Dan said on our mailbag, which you'll hear Saturday, that Hampton is his RB4. So he loves him.
Right, right.
Okay, let's look at Team 12.
There's the difference of Team 12.
We can compare these two teams, right?
Lambhampton, Team 11 was Lambhampton, Waddle Hall,
and Team 12 was London, A. Chan, or Achan, London, McMillan.
So we got receiver running back receiver for both teams,
but Team 12 takes Colston Loveland.
And Team 11 took Harold Fannin Jr.
In round seven compared to round four for Loveland.
So did team 12 on the shelf do the right thing?
H.
Ann, London, McMillan, Colston Loveland.
And then, I mean, I love Scataboo Lloyd at 6061.
I don't know how you guys feel about that.
Yeah, very good value.
And then Jane Daniels at 84 is insane.
The quarterback value in this draft was insane.
So I think it worked out pretty well.
If you just look at those first six picks of taking London
and still not really feeling all that weak at running back.
with A. Chan, Scataboo Lloyd,
but are you weak at receiver, London, McMillan,
and then Alec Pierce, who by the way,
practiced in full and Debo Samuel later in the draft.
Jamie, what do you think about how the Loveland pick
at the three-four turn changed this team?
I love the build.
I don't love the players in particular,
but I love the build.
So for me, if it was Walker instead of A-chan,
if it was A.J. Brown instead of London,
if it was McConkey instead of McMillan,
And then, you know, the players, I think, separate it.
But the build is great.
You're going to get a little, you've got to get a little lucky here because while I'm concerned about scataboo, 60th overall is still great value, especially for somebody's ADP was a week ago at 34.
And Lloyd is all over the map, you know, in terms of where it will go at this point.
His ADP is still in the 90s, but we know that's not very realistic because he's just continuing to climb.
So knowing your draft and knowing that quarterback's going to go late, you have a borderline top five quarterback.
You have a top three tight end.
You have, you know, again, if you believe in A-Chance, still top-10 running back,
no matter where you, you know, I'm down on him, but I still consider him that.
So the build is fine.
It's just a matter of, again, where's your hole?
So your whole could be RB2.
Your whole could be wide receiver three.
Your whole could be flex.
But at the same time, you could have hit home runs at all of those spots.
So I think the build is absolutely fine.
Yeah.
Nice work by Heath on the shelf.
All right, we have a YouTube poll.
Heath does a good job.
So if you like following people that buy, you know, you talked about this.
I think Dave said about Travis A-10, like you buy into taking your guys.
I don't think there's anybody who does it better than Heath does because Zay Flowers,
you see middle of round three probably a little bit early, but, you know, ahead of some other receivers
that I think will go ahead of him in most drafts.
He's going to get his guy.
He's going to take LaPorta.
You see it, you know, Heath talks about this lot.
You see here, he loves Drake London, he loves Devon A-chan.
He's going to take those guys.
He's going to take Tederole McMillan over.
some other receivers that might be better.
So if you believe in that strategy and that theory,
you should follow.
Well, I mean, again, you could get in trouble.
We've got to have conviction with your picks.
You've got to like the players you draft.
Yeah, you could get in trouble.
And I think one thing that Heath also does a good job of is when he does that to an extreme,
then he starts to diversify a little bit.
So like in the IDP draft, he didn't take Leportar, I'm sure, on purpose, and took Kyle Pitts.
You know, so good to have a little bit of diversification with your rosters if you do a lot of drafts.
If you only do one draft, go get your guys.
Yeah, that's the thing I was going to say.
If you have a lot of drafts, there's just been too many times where I haven't gotten my guy or I've gotten someone I didn't like.
And it ended up being a really good pick.
I mentioned the Tucker Kraft pick from last year.
I hated that pick.
It was one of my best picks in that Super Flex League.
I'm going to run.
I couldn't agree more in terms of trying to get players that you know enough of.
So so far, and I do this with players that I don't like.
So last night I had a draft where it was Keeper League draft.
And I was not expecting to take McCaffrey.
I'm not the biggest McCaffrey fan,
but there are a lot of players off the board.
It just made the most sense to take him in the first round where I took him.
The second time that this happened to me where I took McCaffrey,
just what I thought was a good value.
I don't have Devon A. Chan in any league yet,
so I'm going to try and change that because I don't want to miss out if I'm wrong.
And I like Barclay.
I just have not taken Sequin Barclay at all because usually I end up taking Walker and Hampton ahead of them.
Actually, the player I was hoping to take instead of McCaffrey last night was Barclay.
I was planning out the draft in my head.
I'm like, oh, Barclay will be there.
I finally get Barclay.
I'll get that card.
I'm like, oh.
I'm not going to take Barclay over McAfry.
I tell you, I've got three drafts left, I think,
and I need to start drafting more cowboys,
be it DAC, Lamb, or Pickens.
Lamb's going to be tough,
but Pickens is the one I really have to start drafting.
I do like him, and I never take him.
Yeah.
And I really want to.
I have a funny thing last night.
So my friend, he'll appreciate the shout-up.
My friend, Brett Frankel, I was drafting at his house
for the league that we're in together,
and his son was there who's 15 is named Spencer.
And so he has as keepers,
Giovante Williams and George Pickens.
He drafted Dak Prescott.
So he's,
and he's a very animated guy.
He's all in on the Cowboys.
So then he takes Brandon Aubrey.
And his son looks at him,
15 years old, keep them right.
Son looks at him and goes,
what are you doing?
You're counteracting exactly what you want to happen.
You want them to score touchdowns,
and now you're banking on their kicker scoring field goals
as good as he is.
And I'm like, he gets it.
I appreciate this.
15-year-old schooling his father, explaining exactly how it goes.
That's funny.
I should do some research on, like, the best red zone teams.
Do their kickers still do well?
Whatever, like, is the high-
You get extra points.
That counts.
You do, you do.
All right, though, the YouTube poll,
who is Adam's favorite care bear,
bedtime bear, grumpy bear, or oopsie bear or other?
I don't remember a single care bear.
You know, there was the care bear movie that I used to watch
and I was like six or something like that,
but I wasn't really that big of a care bear.
but I'm going to go with Upsi Bear.
I think he should call Nando back and settle this.
What the hell?
No, I don't get it, dude.
I didn't do anything.
He came on and humiliated me for an hour on the air.
And I told him to take, you know, that I didn't want those posters online and instead
talking to me?
No, this is crazy.
No, we're calling him.
Hold on.
All right.
Other stuff I wanted to tell you, I'll be live in 42 minutes for a little Q&A.
Programming.
Next week, we're going to start focusing a little bit.
bit on drafts, but also week one. We've got games on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday.
We've got a YouTube live stream every Sunday morning from 11 a.m. Eastern until 1 p.m.
Jamie, are you going to be? What's your Sunday looking like?
I'll be on. I'm sure for a good portion of it, but I don't know exactly yet.
Okay, but I didn't know if you're doing HQ stuff or what. Yep.
Okay, so you'll be doing that. Also, CBS Sports Network every week, Tuesdays and Thursdays at
noon Eastern.
Okay.
Anything else here?
Oh,
I don't read these stupid comments about
Adam looks like he's a,
let's see.
Adam,
Adam looks like he has a Costco membership
card on a lanyard.
I go there for pitted cherries
for my fruit salad.
I go there for the hot dog only.
The dollar hot dog only.
I go there for bulk sanitizer,
yes.
I would never go anywhere other than
like a really good deli
or bagel place for locks and bake.
So you're wrong about that one.
I go to Costco to People Watch.
Adam looks like he takes off his shoes at parties without asking.
Yeah, most people in my, like, circle, we're all shoes off people.
You come in my house, you take your damn shoes off.
Oh, wait, here we go.
Oh, all right.
All right.
We're at the end of the show.
Let's settle this.
Why are you mad at Adam?
Well, I didn't know you're still on air, man.
I don't want to talk about it in front of all these people.
There's no case.
There's no.
You're shy all of a sudden?
Well, yeah, I mean, like, it was very personal stuff in there.
It was not.
I'm not allowed to talk about.
Yeah, personal for me.
Personal for me.
I don't know, man.
I just feel like, first the second year in a row, he tried to make me miss the show.
That's not true.
And then, like, I spent all this money on posters and credits on perplexity to make these posters.
Not even a thank you.
Just you got to get rid of this stuff.
Dave tries to auction the stuff off for charity.
He's like, no, I don't like St. Jude.
Oh, God.
It was all just very rude.
It was very, very rude.
And then he never asked how I'm doing, Jamie.
You and Dave ask all the time.
Hazers never like, hey, man, how you doing?
So, you know.
I hope that's not true.
But if it's true, I'll do better.
It's a one-way friendship.
A one-way friendship with a guy who humiliates me every time he gets a chance.
It just humiliates me.
Tell stories about my family that I don't want.
Tell stories.
about my wife that I don't want to be on the air.
It's a one-way friendship on my end.
I'm sorry.
I will do more of what...
I will be more like you going forward.
I will start humiliating you and your family
every time we speak.
I can't hear anything you saying.
I just hear family over and over again.
This sounds like a good way to make up with each other
as you can...
You say,
now, just so you let you know,
the whole chat is saying,
Team Nando, I stand with Nando.
Oh, thanks.
They'll love you.
So does Scott Fish.
Okay. All right. Well, that was really uncomfortable. Thank you, Jamie.
All right. That's my job to make you phone call.
Amanda, I love you, buddy. I hope you're doing okay.
Something like that. I don't want to speak for you.
He's like the same reason.
Scott likes everybody. Love you, but I'll talk to you later.
Bye, buddy.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
And good luck in your drafts. See you later.
