Starting point is 00:00:05 Welcome to the fantasy footballers podcast with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Oh, welcome in. Jay Gris in the house, Andy Holloway, Mike Wright, the fantasy footballers podcast. Someone has no shares of Kenneth Walker, so they could not show up today. Oh, I mean, dude, you and I are living large. brother the people. We are living large. The people are waiting. If you've listened to this show for a long time, you know that Ken Walker's kind of my guy.
Starting point is 00:01:02 I love it when fantasy forces you to believe. Because the year of Mike, by the way, continues. We're doing all right. It continues. We're doing all right. I'm not dodging. I'm not invincible. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:01:18 I mean, could be the decade of Mike. My man, Trey Benson is down. Bad guys. That's true. He's down bad. I love. It's not perfect, but the white whale was landed. So everything else doesn't feel as important. Poor Mike was in the middle of doing a guest pod yesterday. When all the big news is breaking on free agency, by the way, this show is being recorded and released immediately. We were waiting as long as we possibly could because, you know, even when we're recording right now, even probably before you hear the show, there'll be more news or little signings and trades. and things that are going on. But we wanted to give as much time as we can so we could come on here and react together
Starting point is 00:01:57 and talk through all of these moves. But yeah, Mike was on a guest pod and right in the middle of the guest pod, we're finding out all this news about Kenneth Walker going to the Chiefs. And then Mike comes in about an hour later after he's done and he's got music playing on his phone. It's a little cool on the gang, man.
Starting point is 00:02:16 It was a celebration time. It was just, yeah, it was a special day. And I've got Kenneth Walker in our, League of Record, who I picked up at the trade deadline from these two losers over here, Papa Josh and the Falcon. Oh, yeah, you're not a loser. Let me go. Let me do it. Not a loser, loser, loser.
Starting point is 00:02:35 That's what I, yeah, from right to left, the two on the left of the losers. But yeah, you guys traded two. And I didn't think for a minute I might be keeping Kenneth Walker. I do now think I might be keeping Kenneth Walker the new starting running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mike. The MVP of the Super Bowl is now a chief. The Walker is on an absolute heater right now. Life is good for him. Super Bowl MVP, big bag of money.
Starting point is 00:03:00 And I mean, staying with Seattle would probably be a pretty decent chance of getting some more Super Bowls the way that the team is currently built. But going to play with Mahomes, not bad. It has to be just, you know, it might even be a better situation if you're trying to chase Super Bowls. They'll figure things out in Kansas City And as much As much as I am On the team of your running backs really don't matter There's so very few
Starting point is 00:03:32 Difference making running backs In the league CMC Gibbs B Sean And I think Walker can be one of those guys Because of his ability I think he was number one again in force miss tackles Like Shoot someone
Starting point is 00:03:46 Someone put it up Can't remember who it was but it was like a stat showing. Okay, number of Kenneth Walker 15-yard runs in the last two years versus the Chiefs. All running backs in totality. And it was like three for Kansas City versus. No, they really haven't had a weapon at that position since Cream Hunt. I think it has been part of the problem for Kansas City is.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Yeah, Kansas City had one 20-yard run last year. Walker had 10 all by himself. You need, when teams have to focus on what Mahomes is capable of doing, and they brought back Travis Kelsey and they'll make more moves. Who knows? Maybe Tyree Kale returns. But, you know, you just open up so much for the running game, especially if you're capable of catching the football. I think Kenneth Walker is capable of it.
Starting point is 00:04:31 That's what I think is such a big deal about this, is what the chiefs had at the running back position, no one had any concern in the world about having to, you know, like, oh, we've got to pick a play here, and we're going to have to sell out to stop the run. No, they were not concerned. The rubber's going to meet the road when it comes to the health of Kenneth Walker, too. Because we've talked about, like, part of this success, you know, Sharbs, as annoying as he is,
Starting point is 00:04:56 and I saw all the memes going out immediately that the chief signed Charbonnet instantly. But as annoying as Sharbs was, Kenneth Walker had one of his healthier seasons of all time. It made him ready for the playoff run. He obviously was great there. No, but I was thinking yesterday there are two players. Like Kenneth Walker, things have broke really well for him. and then, because, I mean, you win a Super Bowl, you're the MVP, and then you get a bag of money.
Starting point is 00:05:21 But the other one I was thinking of is Rashid Shaheed, because Rashid Jehijit goes from one of the worst teams in football with the Saints. He gets to go to Seattle, win a Super Bowl, and now he signs an extension and gets a bag of money. Not the only player we'll be talking about today. It's a full free agent frenzy episode of the show. Thank you for joining Mike and I Tuesday, March 10th. Ultimate draft kit.com.
Starting point is 00:05:47 The post combine update is available now. The Dynasty Pass is available now. Go check that out, and the community has joined the foot.com. We appreciate each and every member of the Foot Clan supporting this independent podcast going into year 11, 12, something like that. Are we at the point where we forget how many years? I mean, the 10-year anniversary of Megal's show was two years ago. Yeah, you're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:06:12 So 10 plus 2 equals something around 12. But yeah, big show today. Appreciate you joining us. Let's jump right in. Free agent frenzy. So we will circle back to that move, the Ken Walker move, and some of the implications. They're good. But let's start with the first bit of news or one of the first deals that we heard about yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:44 It's not Arizona. And that might be good. I don't know. The Dolphins signed Malik Willis to a three-year deal where a $67.5 million. Jason got this one in his predictions. I thought the dolphins would not be able to find the money after, you know, they hadn't cut to at that time. We knew it was just a matter of.
Starting point is 00:07:03 You mean the $99 million in dead money that they have to absorb letting two a Tunga Viloa go? That is what I am referring to. And giving a 27-year-old Malik Willis 45. million guaranteed. The truth is, if it works, this is a great quarterback contract. There's two types of working on this show, though, Mike. There's the working for the team and the working for the fantasy team.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Oh, it's going to be, it should be solid. It should be solid. It should be solid for fantasy. It's, I'm looking, you know, on our profile right now. Malik Willis, four years in the league, we are at six starts. Six starts. So, again, it could work. Malik Willis in the limited action has looked great.
Starting point is 00:07:53 He has, but we have seen backups come in who will start one or two games in a season, and all of a sudden you're like, well, that guy should be a starter. Mike Glynon. Sure. Is one of them. It happened. I think it happens more of a backup looking like in one to two starts, they should be a starter than the other way around. but the contract could be okay
Starting point is 00:08:19 but going with all that dead cap putting all the chips in the basket of Malik Willis I think is just it's so it's it is a it is a intestinal fortitude move I'll say that it was something I thought I thought Arizona was going to make the splash
Starting point is 00:08:36 for Malik Willis Kurt Warner went on I don't know what podcast it was but he was talking about like he he watched the last two years of Malik Willis and there were 28 plates so the Green Bay years Yeah, there were 28 total plays in which he had to basically play quarterback. So you're not talking about design runs. You're not talking about little screen passes that any quarterback in the NFL can make.
Starting point is 00:08:55 You're talking about, I sit back there, read a defense, make a throw. So he didn't say it was bad. Like the 28 wasn't, there were some good, there was some bad. He just said, like, that's what you're evaluating 45 million guarantee on, is 28 basic dropbacks to make a decision on Malik Willis. Now, I really, I'm not going to change my tune just because he goes to Miami instead of Arizona. I believe that Malik Willis will be successful. I think he's a good player. I think what he brings to the running game is going to be amazing,
Starting point is 00:09:22 not just for fantasy, but just for that team. But yeah, it's impossible to say it's not a risk. It's impossible to say that there isn't some unknown with Jay and then Waddle and what he's going to be able to do in that offense. Devon A. Chan in that offense, like we are, we're entering a brand new head coaching era for Miami. Part of the connection there, their new head coach is the former, you know, they have two different connections to Green Bay,
Starting point is 00:09:47 so they have familiarity with Malik Willis. But, you know, it's going to be one of those things that you're like, Malik is a gamble, right? Like, he's going to get drafted probably. Malik will be a fun late round target in single quarterback leagues. And if you're, you know, we're in dynasty season. If you have Waddle or A. Chan, it could have gone bad. Could have gone much worse than this.
Starting point is 00:10:13 could have gone horrifically bad here. So I think you can at least have optimism and you don't have to, you know, just go all the way into the season, just quaking. Quinn Ewer's fans are. Oh. Quinn Ewer's sports cards holder is not happy at the moment. Yeah. Rushing totals in his three stars last year, 41, 73, and 60. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I mean, that's a lot. So in two, a tongue of Iloa ends up. leaving Miami. He'll get paid. And now he's got a one-year deal being the second lefty in Atlanta. I know Kyle is so excited about all the amazing Atlanta signings yesterday. Atlanta and Arizona. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Just. Handshake. Just dominating the free agency period. If your goal is to be bad. It's so embarrassing. It's so for both teams, the signings have just not been. I mean, they needed some. Things work out.
Starting point is 00:11:14 They needed someone with a penix already looking very shaky as a potential franchise guy. Hurt yet again. Will he be ready to start the year? They had to do something. So I don't blame the Falcons for going for it. I mean, you're going to get him, what, super cheap? Would you rather have had Minchu? Minshu, like the Cardinals sign?
Starting point is 00:11:38 Or Tua for your backup? I think Tua. I'll take two of. Probably. Probably. Kyle says low risk, no reward. Oh, that's the move. It's a classic low risk and no reward move. That's a good line, Kyle. I mean, it's like if you have to see to a play, something bad has happened to Pinnix. He's either played poorly. I like to imagine the GM was like, we got to get the lefty.
Starting point is 00:12:08 I know. We can't ship, we can't flip the offense. It's impossible. The ball must spiral the same way. It's like when you have a your quarterback is a mobile running quarterback. It's like the Ravens. Oh yeah. You got to get to. Okay. Well, we want to go to Huntley. He's also athletic
Starting point is 00:12:25 and can sort of duplicate what Lamar is able to do. And they're just applying that to left-handedness. It's amazing. All right, we did talk about it. Ken Walker three-year deal. Let's get into the details. The chief signed Ken Walker three-year deal worth up to $45 million. $28 million
Starting point is 00:12:43 guaranteed. Nice. He's just 25 years old. He was number one in forced mistackle rate. Kansas City was dead last in that stat last year. Is it two years in a row, Kyle? Walker was extremely high on that, and that's that stat two years ago as well.
Starting point is 00:12:58 So now the question becomes Mike for this show. Where does Kenneth Walker go in fantasy football? Because there are players like Buck Irving, who they signed Kenneth Gainwell. Yeah, give me Walker.
Starting point is 00:13:14 There are players. like the incredible Chase Brown after last year's run. That one's tough. Derek Henry, a year older in Baltimore. And they lost their center. They lost Lindenbaum. Yeah. That's a devastating blow to that.
Starting point is 00:13:32 That's huge. I mean, he's getting paid more money than all the other centers by a lot. Josh Jacobs at Ken Walker. See, it's one of those things where... People are going to be very excited for Kenneth Walker. So just to zoom out real quick. This is awesome.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Like on paper, this is so incredible. A truly dynamic running back, like you said, number one enforced mistackle rate. Last year, Kansas City, if their running backs dead last in that advanced metric of,
Starting point is 00:14:06 like, the one truly, like, what, a big thing you need for your running back is, I need a guy who can actually make something happen on his own. Not just get what's there, make something happen. He, Walker, he probably jumps into the late first based off of the hope and the dreams of how, just how awesome the player was into the situation. I don't know. It's going to be risky business, but he will be, like, between Walker, Chase Brown, Jacobs. I think those are really difficult questions to answer right now.
Starting point is 00:14:45 I feel like the hype for Walker, like there could be a plan in Kansas City to not, like we all want Super Bell Cow. I don't think you're going to get that. But I don't think you're going to get that at all. And whether they bring back Cream Hunt or something to be, I mean, that's the best case to me for the Chiefs backfield is not bringing in another younger, able-bodied running back.
Starting point is 00:15:11 You need? But someone like Cream Hunt. Someone coming up The problem with Cream Hunt is like Goal line? Yeah Yeah We need to know
Starting point is 00:15:19 So they have They have Breschard Smith still too We need to know that walk Yeah Smith is not a Not a nothing Competition for the high value We need the receiving We need the goal line work
Starting point is 00:15:28 We need to know for sure that that's locked in Triple threat of super running back But it carries the receiving and the goal line It is very Very exciting If you have him in Dynasty Like me I mean, that's just part of it.
Starting point is 00:15:47 But I mean, seriously, I went back into my dynasty startup rankings and you're like, you have to move, you got to move Walker up. He's 25. He's on the Chiefs. It seems like he probably took less money, too, to go to Kansas City. Because Travis E.T.N signed a four-year deal. Possible. Worth $52 million. I mean, that's more money than Walker got.
Starting point is 00:16:09 We still haven't seen the guaranteed money on E.N. So, I mean, total value is potentially higher for ETN, but, you know, I mean, that's, it's not a huge difference of $7 million. Yes, that's, it's a lot. I get that. But I'm saying, I was two years older. It was a little surprising. You, the Saints had to, you know, we talk about the loser tax. When you go to the Saints, you should at least be believing that you're not really going to have a chance at a playoff run this year.
Starting point is 00:16:41 it's not impossible, but your odds are against you. Maybe two years from now you'll make a run. And so it's like, can you actually win a Super Bowl? If that's your goal, where it's a much higher odds with the Chiefs than you take just a little bit lighter on the money, I don't blame Walker for doing it. So the Saints made a big splash. Travis Eatian ends up in New Orleans,
Starting point is 00:17:03 four-year deal, $52 million, no guaranteed money that we've figured out yet in terms of the numbers, but we'll get that. 27 years old, year six of the NFL, earlier in the week, the Saints had converted $10 million of Alvin Camara's salary into a signing bonus, cleared a bunch of money, multiple reports from Beat Rider saying this may clear the way for Alvin Camara's retirement.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Do I understand how that all works? No, but I mean, this is like a, this is a legendary Norland saint player in Alvin Camara. And at least last year, he was the one saying, don't trade me. Yeah, I feel like that, I feel like he was setting the table for the sunset. and for them to go out and spend this kind of money at running back, to me,
Starting point is 00:17:45 like I don't think, I don't think Camara necessarily wants to play that secondary role. Maybe that's what he'll accept for a year and being a leader in the, you know, clubhouse, so to speak. Camara's advanced numbers were horrifically bad. No, and it's kind of, and he was banged up again. I mean, we got Kendry Miller back out there. He got hurt again.
Starting point is 00:18:05 So this will be Travis E.T.N. Tyler Shuck. Crystal Lave. kind of exciting. Yeah, oh, it's an exciting young team. Well, I mean, Shuck's kind of old. Can E.T. Yeah. Well, he's young enough.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Can E.T.N finishes a running back one again in New Orleans? It's in the range of outcomes. You still have the Kellanmore offense, high pace. We'll get a lot of receptions for Travis E.T.N. as well. So I think it's possible. It's just will they score enough on the ground? And then you can't miss this part of all these deals, right? Ken Walker obviously leaving Seattle.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Their backfield is now completely in flux. Charbonnet is coming off a major injury. They're going to, they got a covered, man. Well, there's rumors this morning about Rashad White to Seattle. So Mike finds this very funny. Dude, because Rashad White and Sharbs on the, that's your backfield? one yard of carry well we'll see
Starting point is 00:19:10 we'll see what they do they're trying to defend the title but you know the big move here that will be the real wake-up moment of like oh I guess Walker was really good yeah it could be or they could make a splash we'll see but ETN leaving
Starting point is 00:19:25 Jacksonville is huge I mean Bayshall Tutin I don't know that's Jason's bit that's Jason's bit no he's and he's not here but Bayshaw Tutin right now sky's the limit He's a great offense.
Starting point is 00:19:38 It's very exciting for him. I mean, ETIN was a super surprise last year in terms of how fantasy relevant he ended up being under Liam Cohen after a down year. So, you know, Tudin was fifth in rush success rate and 11th in force-miss tackle rate among 55. 55 running that. So, you know, going into a sophomore year, that's exciting.
Starting point is 00:20:02 And E-TN will, I mean, with him gone, that vacates, he had 52 targets last year. If you're telling me Tutin gets the majority of those, it'll be very, very fun. And the Cohen system just, it seems to be,
Starting point is 00:20:22 like, it might be one up there with like McVe and the Shanahan system. It's just, it's going to work. I mean, you have to look at last year, even with Buck Irving, I know he was hurt. But Buck Irving's success with Liam Cohen the year before? Compared to his success last year, Mike? Right.
Starting point is 00:20:39 Let's take a break. We'll talk about some more moves. All right, we're back into the free agent frenzy here on a Tuesday morning. The Buccaneers signed Kenneth Gainwell, who was a revelation for Pittsburgh last year, two-year deal, worth up to $14 million, $10 million guaranteed. It's not a crazy deal. He's 27 years old or about to be. And this was the leading wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year at the running back spot. This one's a blow to Bucky, because I, you know, I just shared my thoughts on Rashad White. He was not a threat.
Starting point is 00:21:22 No, Sean Tucker is just this imaginary, nebulous being that the Buccaneers never actually care for. You'd see him flash on the field, but then they would never give him work. They let him, like, they didn't tender him. and Kenneth Gainwell is a true a true player who can take away from Bucky Irving and duplicate what Bucky Irving does on the field. I've seen a lot. Not as good as Bucky, but...
Starting point is 00:21:51 Yeah, he's not as good as Bucky, but... If you're getting 85% of Bucky, that's someone who should get touches. The thing about Kenneth Gainwell that I think we've seen throughout his career is he forces his way on the field, whether you believe he should be or not. There was a point of time middle of the off-season,
Starting point is 00:22:10 Jason could not handle the inference, the suggestion that Kenneth Gainwell could take away from Caleb Johnson. There was not a pot. And he's not here to say nothing. But I remember the conversation.
Starting point is 00:22:25 It was like, hey, it was like, hey, buddy, people like Kenneth Gainwell. I mean, great teammate, great player, versatile, does the little stuff? that you don't see in the fantasy football stat sheet, but teams love. Now, I've seen a lot of people say, what are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:22:45 Bucky is fine. Bucky's everything. And Bucky will be, he'll be okay. His ceiling's down. But I think the question that you have to ask yourself is Kenneth Gainwell, a better player than Rishad White. Yes. That's enough. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:22:58 And that's not a, well, you know, in my opinion, no, he's better. Yeah. He's more versatile. He's a better athlete. Yeah, I agree. He'll get you more than two and a half yards on the ground. I don't know if the team, and I don't know all the details of what went on with Bucky Irving's absence.
Starting point is 00:23:17 It clearly wasn't all recovery from a physical injury last year. The vibes were weird. Well, I mean, I think there were some mental health things going on and they were dealing with that. But from a reliability standpoint that puts things in flux and Kenneth Gainwell is a stabilizer. So they bring them in. The Cardinals. Oh, the Cardinals.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Oh, they reworked James Conner's contract, right? And then they said, what if we made two of you? The Cardinals signed Tyler Alger to a two-year deal worth $12.25 million, $8 million guaranteed, 25 years old. I hate this just because of Trey Benson. Algier is good. Alger, with the money. I mean, James Conner had to take less money just to make sure he kept a job and to be on the team. And then you go day one and sign Tyler, Alger.
Starting point is 00:24:15 I know it's not as, you know, it's not the high profile money that the other guys are making. But Algear is a good player. And $8 million guaranteed is enough that I will project that he will end up being, it'll be him and Connor. And then Trey Benson is just cooked. Yeah. Yep. I mean, this is the, this is the, we don't believe.
Starting point is 00:24:36 We'll never get to find out if it could fly. No, this is the we don't believe in you at all. This isn't pushing you out of the nest so that you can fly. This is so you land on the ground and the animals eat you. I mean, Alger and Connor are workhorses. I think that's the headline. Like, these are not guys that need plays off. If they get it going, they're not going to turn to Trey Benson.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And they wanted Connor back enough to rework the contract. Connor keeps the job like you said. I mean, Alger himself had seven red zone touchdowns last year. The Cardinals had six total. Alger is a pretty good player. Yes, he is.
Starting point is 00:25:15 It's not a flashy signing. I thought Arizona would not rework the contract of Connor and would sign ETN. Instead, they brought Connor back and they spent less money on Alger. But I don't think it's going to be a very fun fantasy situation. No.
Starting point is 00:25:28 And by the way, they basically have come out and said, just if we want to get into Arizona, which nobody does. But you should kind of. of in fantasy because Michael Wilson was crazy and Trey McBride and they basically come out and said Jacoby Brissette's our starter. They signed
Starting point is 00:25:42 Gardner Minchew and Mike Mike's like why would you sign Gardner Minchew? Are you getting rid of Brissette as your backup? Little did you know. Brissette was the starter in that situation. And Minchew becomes the backup. So it's weird because the Cardinals are going to be awful. This is a tank,
Starting point is 00:25:58 tank move. They were one and nine with Berset, I think. Maybe 0 and 9. I don't even remember. but Michael Wilson was insane with Jacoby Brissette. Trey McBride set the world on fire with Jacoby Brissette. I will remind people there was an astronomically high pass rate as they could not run the ball at all. You know, Connor went out early, Trey Benson went out in week four, and then they were rocking demarcato and Michael Carter and Bam Knight. That was the trio.
Starting point is 00:26:30 That was getting absolutely nothing done. Algerian James Connor is a much, much better tandem than anything that they had last year for the majority of the year. So I don't think the pass rate will be anywhere near what it was. But we know how Jacoby plays and we know how he plays with these guys. So you can keep your optimism and still, you know, wherever, is pretty much wherever you were going to draft Arizona Cardinals, you just kind of leave it there.
Starting point is 00:26:59 The Broncos re-signed J.K. Dobbins to a two-year deal worth 20. million dollars. I think all three of us got this one. Dobbins back to Denver. Do you remember in the... I don't remember if we... I'm going to pull up the show, because I think... I think we were, had all said it was going to be Denver, but... I think we predicted Dobbins. It seemed the easiest one. But yeah, he's... That one in Wondale were like... the lowest hanging fruit. Oh, no, me and you got it. Oh! Jason missed it. I think that puts me in the lead then.
Starting point is 00:27:28 because Jason got the Miami-Moleque one. That was big. I got the Evans 49ers. Right. But I didn't realize Jason had switched it up with Dobbins. So Kyle's words not mine, what a loser. Yes. Speaking of Jason Moore. And the word out of
Starting point is 00:27:48 the word out of Denver is the Broncos will also draft someone. That means that the word out of Denver. ipso facto, we screwed up with RJ Harvey. They drafted him too high, and Harvey is a good athlete. Seems like a good pass catcher. He's a good pass catching running back, but at least through one year, they're saying, no, you cannot be the guy.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Depending on where they draft running back, I don't imagine it'll be anything crazy. Like probably just a day three, get some depth in there. I will be drafting Dobbins ahead of RJ Harvey. Just touchdowns? Dobbins was awesome last year. Yeah, he was. Dobbins will probably have another injury because, I mean, if you want to label anyone injury prone in the NFL,
Starting point is 00:28:41 J.K. Dobbins is... He earned it. Yeah. His body does not like the game of football, but he is a very, very good football player. Game well got more guaranteed than Algeria or Dobbins. Dobbins and Alger both got $8 million guaranteed. The deal's worth more for Dobbins long term.
Starting point is 00:28:56 had the foot injury, two months on IR. I think he was pretty close to getting back, wasn't he? If they had moved on, I think there were some rumors about him getting back out on the field. But, yeah, so J.K. Dobbins, look, that's another situation I think is going to be really murky because they'll use a committee. They're searching for jokers everywhere. Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker. Keep searching.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Between Harvey and Dobbins, the much better runner. Like between tackles, just, you know, the pure running back stuff, that's Dobbins. And I imagine he will still be, people will be in on Harvey. And they're going to hope that the second round pick can really take the leap. I will be probably on the other side. Well, there was a 15-minute period of time in which it seemed like the departure of Kenneth Gainwell may open up the door for Caleb Johnson. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Nope. Doors closed. The Steelers have signed Rico Dowdell. Yes. Two-year deal worth up to 12.25 million. Yes. So now, what is it, Warren, Dowdle, Caleb on the bench. Caleb Johnson, go hang out with Tray Benson.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Go get some Froyo. Yeah. What could have been? They won't notice you gone. Rico Dowdell is back with Mike McCarthy, which the first time Mike McCarthy was pretty frustrating. at the beginning of the year, refusing to turn it over to Rico Dowdell
Starting point is 00:30:29 as they just watched Zeke be a mere shell of himself. It's the same situation. Only to have Rico Dowdal then take the job over the second half and become a thousand-yard rusher. Why did he go there then? He must be okay with whatever. The Steelers situation is going to be,
Starting point is 00:30:47 this one's difficult. Because Jalen Warren was great to start last year. He misses some time and they figure out how to use Kenneth Gainwell better in the offense. Is Rico better than Warren? On the ground, yes. And Rico Doughto is actually... What about in the sky?
Starting point is 00:31:06 Rico's not bad through the air. This is a really tough situation to figure out who's going to truly have the value. It feels like some cold water for the Jail and Warren managers. Oh, yeah. Yeah. If I have Warren on my dynasty team, I'm upset about this sign. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:23 So... And if you have Rico... just the complete opposite. This is a situation where he can come in and take the job. Which we weren't sure he would get that chance. At least he must look at it like I can do that. Yeah. Over and over again. He has to look at those situations.
Starting point is 00:31:40 Dallas, he had to work on it. Yep. Carolina had to work on it. All right. The 49ers, this is a big one. They signed Mike Evans to a three-year deal. 16.3 guarantee. That's not a ton. the deal can be worth up to $42.4 million. But structurally,
Starting point is 00:32:03 if you're telling me it's a three-year deal worth $42, but it includes $16 million. That's a one-year deal. Yes. Yeah, this was the word for his camp was that he loved it in Tampa Bay was ready for a new challenge to close his career. That was Mike Evans saying Tampa Bay
Starting point is 00:32:20 is not a contender next year, in his opinion. That's what you think? Yeah. I don't think so. I take him at his, I actually believe the statement, and it wasn't just that. There was a second part of the statement that talked about how much confidence he has in the other dudes in that room. He talked about Abuka, McMillan, Godwin. The offense.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Yeah. I just mean, like, I think he looks at that situation and he wants to see those other guys succeed. I really do. And with him on the field, they have a clogged up, like, this is great for Abuka. Yes. Like, super great. Godwin is, Godwin's good. Godwin may be the wide receiver that you prefer to Abuka.
Starting point is 00:32:57 We'll have that debate for six months. But at least Godwin is on the way out and Abuka's on the way up and McMillan's a very talented player. And don't forget, Tess Johnson's involved in that offense. So there are moves in the offseason that just work for everybody. Now, this doesn't work for Ricky Pearsall because I think Ricky Pearsall is never going to materialize into a dominator. But maybe, we'll see. Evans is old. The, I mean, you still, we haven't heard yet on Joanne Jennings.
Starting point is 00:33:24 We haven't heard yet on Romeo Dobbs, which there's been a lot of Romeo Dobbs to San Francisco smoke. I mean, not saying with Mike Evans there that if they sign Romeo Dobbs, Dobbs is going to come be the superstar. But if they bring those two guys in, if you're talking about Ricky Pearsall, it's a, I mean, it's a condemnation for sure. if you're like, we got to go with two free agents because Ricky Pearsall, we don't think you can be reliably our number one guy. John Jennings is still a free agent, and Kendrick Bourne ended up signing with
Starting point is 00:33:59 the Arizona Cardinals. Enjoy your money. Gosh, that's 26% of their targets vacated. But yeah, I mean, overall, this is what I wanted to see happen. I wanted to see him leave Tampa Bay, because I want to see what can happen with those other wide receivers in Tampa Bay.
Starting point is 00:34:18 And he missed extended time last year. He didn't play a lot of football, had the hamstring issue. The jokes about the substations have already begun. Yeah. His hamstring versus the substation. I think it might be his hamstring versus father time, because that is going to stack up. McCaffrey needs more blood.
Starting point is 00:34:41 To siphon? Yes. Fresh meat. He hasn't tapped in to Mike Evans yet. Yeah, yeah. Colts. Big move. One of the first ones of the day.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Alec Pierce, four-year deal, $116 million to stay in Indianapolis. Imagine this deal two years ago. Oh, mama. Like if we just said this is what's going to happen in two years? You know what I see in two years? Alec Pierce getting 84 million. Alec Pierce being the bell of the ball of the off season. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Which, by the way, like New England apparently offered him more money. And he ends up being the highest paid free agent in history. The cap is through the roof now. It's $300 million, $308 million. Alec Pierce was objectively impressive on almost every step he took last year. He earned the money. But the Colts immediately sent Michael Pittman out the door. And Alec Pierce is truly their number one receiver.
Starting point is 00:35:38 I mean, that is a big transformation. Pittman goes to Pittman goes to Pity City. Michael Pittman is now Michael Pittman. because he's a Pittsburgh Steeler. So we'll talk about that and the implications, but let's talk about Alec Pierce first. They're going to try to bring Daniel Jones back. He's on the transition tag.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Alec Pearson, Daniel Jones had a great rapport. He's a big play receiver, which you love to see it. I mean, where does that put Pearson? Does that change his entire structure in your mind in terms of the kind of player he is? He's a number one now for Indianapolis. I don't see Alec Pierce. making a huge jump.
Starting point is 00:36:21 So last year, he did miss two games, ends up as the wide receiver 23. And of course, over, you know, those later weeks of the season that was no Daniel Jones, even though, you know, Alec Pierce, week 16, was able to put up 22 points and week 18 against Houston to put up 27. It's the, on the season as a whole, an 18% target share. I mean, that's going to change. It has to. It's going to change fundamentally. It has to.
Starting point is 00:36:51 The money plus the departure of Pittman, I think is unquestionably going to be, like, I would put him at, I'll probably project him on 110, 110, 115 target. Okay. It's the utilization of him. You know, he has, in his career, 41 receptions, 32, 37, 47. Yeah, I just. Those are not the numbers that you need to be a really reliable high-end top-12 type of a fantasy starter. Show me the numbers on the contract again. Those are the numbers that are going to persuade me that this was a decision by the team to say,
Starting point is 00:37:32 out with the old, in with the new, we're going to keep the young stud that we believe can be a true number one. No, he's never going to, he's going to profile more like the Mike Evans type of career numbers to me. like Evans was not a perennial 100 catch guy in Tampa Bay because the yards per-catch, I mean, Evans in Tampa Bay, premier years, finishing as a top 12 fantasy receiver, 67, 70, 74, 86, 71, he had 196 catch season, mostly he's in the 70s.
Starting point is 00:38:01 His average per year, Evans, Hall of Fame career, 72.2 catches per year. You get Pierce into the 70s, and it's, that's far better. Yeah, I'm not expecting him to transform into, to Jefferson. He's got a type. They have Tyler Warren for intermediate
Starting point is 00:38:17 receptions. They have Josh Downs. So yeah, I mean, it's a big move. And he didn't leave. They didn't let him go. And then Michael Pittman goes to the Steelers for almost nothing. I think losing the contract, well, they signed him to a new
Starting point is 00:38:33 contract, three years, $59 million. Oh, really? I had missed that one. You didn't see that they renegotiated? How good. Good for good because Pitman is good. Michael Pitman is a good wide receiver. I was hoping this wasn't just casting him to the aisle of misfit toys. No, I think that Pittman is a good wide receiver. I would call him solid in terms of like they needed another guy. Yes. I mean, D.K. could not carry the load at all. Some people are like, well, I'm going to take Pittman ahead of D.K. Now, that's not me. I'd be taking
Starting point is 00:39:11 D.K. I had of Pittman still. I think I will take neither. Neither is an option. It might be Kurt Couss. It might be Kirk Cousins. Did you not see this this morning? Oh, no. Mike just threw up in his mouth. They're going to go from Rogers to Cousins? That's the talk. The talk is to move from one veteran. If Rogers doesn't come back, move on to Cousin. One year deal with Cousins. No. No. Oh, Pittsburgh. I'm sorry. Sitting in it and relaxing. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:39:43 You'll never draft D.K. again. No, no. All right. We'll take a break. You're telling me it's Kurt Cousins? Yeah. I mean, it's just a rumor, Mike. I would go Will Howard.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I would go Will Howard. If I'm the Steelers, I would go Will Howard to. Just, I mean, what they, third round? Was that what Will Howard was? I believe he was a third round pick. I mean, to take a quarterback in the third, and then be like, no, we're going to turn it over to old beat up cousins.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Just let Will Howard go. Mike McCarthy. Oh, Howard was a six-rounder? Okay. We're way off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Never mind. Bring in cousins.
Starting point is 00:40:27 All right, we got more to talk about. Really? He was a sixth. We'll be right back. Oh, sorry, Will. Did we not talk about the bills trading for DJ more yet? I thought we talked about it on the show. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:43 All the shows blend together. Oh, yeah. I was like, what does this have to do with the bills? I did think he just randomly hit it, but yeah, the Bears got a second round pick. DJ Moore goes to Buffalo. It's one of those moves that makes sense for everybody. Especially the Bears. Yeah, I mean, yeah, the bear, especially the bears, because the bears weren't using him.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I think this move works for the Bears. This move works for DJ Moore. This move works for Buffalo. DJ Moore is maybe not as good anymore. as we think he might be. I don't know why he was the screen merchant, and that's it, and the backfield guy. But you wanted O'Don'se to have runway.
Starting point is 00:41:28 You want Luther Burden to have runway. Oh, yeah. I'm saying for the bills. I think this might have broke while we were on the footcast. That might have been what I was thinking about. But the bills traded a second. They did a two-five swap to get DG Moore. It's a big trade.
Starting point is 00:41:46 The Pittsburgh Steelers did a 7-6 swap to get Michael Pittman. That would have been better for them. That's, if you just put in the second, let's say they drafted one of the best available of a good wide receiver class. Yeah. The best available wide receiver in the second round and Pittman. Yeah. I'd rather have those two players than DJ Moore. He played with Joe Brady and Carolina.
Starting point is 00:42:10 There was familiarity there. Loveland, Burden, Adunze. That's what I'm most excited about. I'm also most excited just to have more weapons of any kind. they released for Josh Allen. They released Curtis Samuel, I think. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:25 It kind of works for everybody. The price was a lot. It was very expensive. Sometimes you got to overpay. It happens. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, and the, yeah, the bears, they got a trifect of youngsters.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Oh, man, the bears, that offense is so fun. They're so fun. Please stay goodish, Caleb. Okay. We need, no. Please improve. Please improve. Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Please improve. That accuracy, that won't. Let's go out. Let's go up. Jay Gris wants to see it. We got this one right. It wasn't hard to do, but the Titans signed Wondell Robinson to a four-year deal. My favorite comment about the Titans was that Daible is now acquiring the players that got him fired in New York.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Yeah. But Wondell's a great player. They didn't really have a receiver in Tennessee. see. That's the essence of what I think, you know, people don't realize it. I'm in on Cam Ward. I do believe in Cam Ward. I always kind of have. The end of the year was 10 touchdowns. One interception over the last 10 games. And that was, again, you didn't have weapons for him. Calvin Ridley wasn't around. Those other youngsters, you know, Chimre D.K., good player. Versatile, gadget, special teams. I. I.O. Manor. Good player. Solid player. Probably not meant to be your one. by any stretch. So Juan Dale comes in. He just gets it done. He's a productive receiver. Yeah, 92 for over 1,000. Only four touchdowns last year. And he should, with his 38 million guaranteed,
Starting point is 00:44:05 he should walk right in to be, you know, a 25 plus percent of the targets. So if you do believe in Cam Ward, Wandale will be a very interesting target. Yeah, Wondale had four top 12 finishes last year, which was more than Sutton, more than T. Higgins. So I don't know if you can get the kind of targets you'd hope for with Cam Ward in Tennessee, but maybe. I mean, he's coming off of 30%. Is there a world where Wondale is undervalued in fantasy?
Starting point is 00:44:36 Yes. Okay. Because the Titans, the Titans have that stank on them. The Seahawks re-signed Rashid Shaheed. I mentioned it earlier in the show, three-year deal worth up to $51 million. He is one of those players that, I don't know if it's ever going to translate into fantasy
Starting point is 00:44:52 as well as it does in real life. I feel like he is such a dynamic, great player, but I don't know if fantasy consistency is what you're going to see for Rashidjahed at any point in Seattle. You're going to get Tori Horton back. You've already got J.S.N. who's going to, J.S.N. seeing that contract that Alex Pierce got, put a down payment on a Scrooge Vault.
Starting point is 00:45:14 You can pre-buy the Scrooge McDuck vaults, and he bought two of them. Yeah, he's going to break it open. So will Puka, by the way. So Rashid Shahid gets traded to Seattle. And I'm seeing one, two, three, four, five, five, six, six games of eight or fewer yards. I mean, it was weird that it never got going. Maybe we'll have it with the entire offseason and having the established roles that it'll be better for Shaheed. Okay, the Raiders have signed Jalen Naylor to a three-year deal worth $35 million.
Starting point is 00:45:57 $23 million guaranteed for Jailen Naylor. There was a report last week that Jalen Naylor was going to be a hot commodity on the free agent's market. Yes, that people were going after. By the way, from the... the Minnesota Vikings, Jalen Naylor. Yeah, if you don't know who he has, he plays wide receiver. I don't blame you. I mean, Jalen Naylor is a dynasty
Starting point is 00:46:21 only name of name recognition. But they say he was going to have a hot market, 23 guaranteed, 27 years old. I mean, it's okay, this is a, what does the NFL know
Starting point is 00:46:37 that we don't, and that the Minnesota Vikings didn't know. They don't know anything. The Raiders paid the loser tax to get a solid wide receiver, not a special one. Every team has one guy like Jalen Naylor. The Cardinals is Greg Dorch. It's like a guy who's kind of productive for you and you respect their ability, but they don't go and, you know, dominate somewhere else. I can't, I can't count how many Raiders wide receiver signings have been in this category, whether it's Adam Thielen to the Raiders, if you remember that deal. Naylor's fine, but he's a 27-year-old wide
Starting point is 00:47:11 receiver who didn't, you know, he just wasn't a game changer. They have Deonti Thornton. They have Trey Tucker. They have Jack Bess. They don't have wide receivers. They're going to draft some, too. So Thornton last, or I'm sorry, not Thornton, Naylor, the past two years, 28, and this is appearing in all 17 games, 28 for 414, followed that up last year with
Starting point is 00:47:35 29 for 44 yards. Was it him and McCarthy that had the connection? Or was it wins? I just, I feel like there was a nice little run for Jalen Naylor. I would have to cross-reference him. He had two games, week 10 against Baltimore and week 15 against Dallas. Five for 124 and three for 47 and that made him $20-something million. Okay.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Good for you, man. Chiefs re-signed Travis Kelsey, one-year deal worth $12 million. He's back. Do you care? Yeah, consider it. Wasn't he the, like the tight-in two or three last year? don't take tied into away from
Starting point is 00:48:11 Kyle Pitts I'm so sorry Please Yeah I mean Second half was real rough It's Week 12 on
Starting point is 00:48:20 He would have been on page For 63 for 500 It's the amount of money That is I think interesting Of like if you're Travis Kelsey The money says That the chiefs Wanted you back
Starting point is 00:48:33 You know And he was He was weighing his decisions of the off-season decides he wants to play at least one more year of football. And it just seemed an unnecessary move that he would get paid that much.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Well, you have to. That's like the Cardinals with fits on one-year deals. You end up having to pay these legends, legend money, regardless of what they're really worth anymore. You're not going to get them back on anything else. And he'll probably end up a top five tied in. I'll probably catch 50-something passes for 600 yards
Starting point is 00:49:07 and three or four touchdowns? Yeah, there is a scenario where it matters. But as a reminder, and for Walker as well, that Mahomes is coming off a devastating knee injury and may not be ready week one. Oh, I bet he is. I bet he is. Isaiah likely three-year deal with the New York Giants.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Harbaugh likely reunited. Yeah. Theo Johnson, It gets a little kick in the... Yeah. Kick in the sensitive spot. Theo Johnson was someone I was pretty interested in, but a $3 or $40 million for...
Starting point is 00:49:48 It likely is a legit weapon. So this is exciting for Jackson Dart. I was thinking the same. It's good for Jackson Dart. More weapons on the field. It's not like Theo can't catch touchdown passes. Yeah. He probably won't be as good for fantasy,
Starting point is 00:50:00 but he's still good for Dart. Yeah, they're interesting. You get neighbors back? I mean, they did... They did lose Wondale. So they could be in the contention for Tyson or Lemon or Tate. That's going to say where they're picking, love.
Starting point is 00:50:17 How do you not add another weapon? They should. You've got to give your quarterback a shot. Kate Otten, three-year extension with the Buccaneers, 20 million guaranteed, just a machine. All right, good for you, man. Kate Otten is back. And maybe slightly more relevant if,
Starting point is 00:50:34 I mean, tight-ins aren't relevant, but maybe more irrelevant with no Evans permanently. We had the Max Crosby trade. That was a big trade. Ravens. Did you hear Jemar Chase? I was going to say Jemar Chase. Not pleased. Upset.
Starting point is 00:50:48 He was live on like Call of Duty or something. Upset. Which, yeah. I would be upset about it too. Burrow now has to face T.J. Watt? Yeah. Miles Garrett, Max Crosby,
Starting point is 00:51:04 in six games. Uh-oh. Yeah. Better fix that offensive line. Raiders also picked up Lindenbaum. I don't know if we mentioned that. That's a huge move for Gentie. Huge move.
Starting point is 00:51:14 Yeah, it's gigantic. It's gigantic. Fixing the offensive line was the most important thing I wanted to see from the Raiders. I am going to blitz the rest of this news, Mike, because I just want you to basically interrupt me if something is interesting. Gotcha. Okay. Turbisky to the Titans, pick it to the Panthers.
Starting point is 00:51:33 Kendrick Bourne, two-year deal to the Cardinals. Falcons sign John Dodson and Austin Hooper. The Dodson signing does seem chuckleworthy, but Darnell Mooney is out the door. Dotson will slide right into being their wide receiver too. Probably won't have anything of note, but... They brought Zakias back too, right? What?
Starting point is 00:51:56 Yeah, you didn't know that? I missed that. On Meadee? Yeah, buddy. Reunited. Okay. It's not going to matter. Cleef Raymond to the Bears.
Starting point is 00:52:03 That's kind of cool for the Bears. teams. Noah Fant to the Saints. Does that bother you with Joanne? Noah Fant? All right. Charlie Kohler to the charge. How many years of, how many years of Noah do we need before you're like, he's, he's fine? Not fantastic. No. Dalton Schultz, one year extension. I didn't see that one with the Texans coming back to the Texans. Bill's three year extension with Dawson Knox doing the dirty work. Tyquan Thornton coming back to the Chiefs. Oh, all right. routes when people are hurt.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Traylon Berks came, signed a one-year deal. Had one-year deal with the commanders. Yeah, but that catch ruled. It was great. Vikings restructured Hawkinson's contract, keeping them in Minnesota. And Devon Singletary is back with the Giants, which means they have Tracy Singletarian Scatterboo. Maybe it. Don't do it, Giants. Maybe it'll be smoke. The Giants are so much better off bringing in Jordan Tyson. That's all I'm going to say, than spending that early pick on a running.
Starting point is 00:53:06 We got a breaker. All right. Breaking news. This fabulous news for Jumeir Gibbs. Go on. The Detroit Lions have found their RB2, former starting running back from the Kansas City Chiefs, Isaiah Pacheco.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Okay. Does that bother you at all with Gibbs? Because it doesn't bother me one little bit. The only thing that would have bothered me for Gibbs would be a hammer. and this is not a hammer. No. No, this is, this is,
Starting point is 00:53:37 if you are inside the five, why would you put Pacheco over Gibbs? No, you wouldn't. This is amazing news. That is excellent news. Celebrate Gibbs manager. Tyler Algier, I thought was going to the line. It was a legit possibility.
Starting point is 00:53:53 And if Algeria had gone, you would have had to say, oh, man, that's five to seven rushing touchdowns that Gibbs won't get. But Pacheco, Gibbs stays in the 101 contention. Before we close the show out, and we'll get into more Free Agent Frenzy on Thursday, Mike and I. Before we close it out, though,
Starting point is 00:54:11 I'm going to throw one name into the hat or for the Seattle backfield. You ready? Sean Tucker. Yeah. Would that be? Would that be interesting to you at all? Sean Tucker released, not tendered by the Buckingham. No, because he...
Starting point is 00:54:26 Are you out? You don't believe? I believe he has talent, but it's... It's hard to have seen him have that long of a career with Tampa Bay have success, and then the team really never doing anything with it. It's very surprising. Maybe it could have been horrifically bad coaching decisions. Those do happen.
Starting point is 00:54:47 But if he went to, if Tucker goes to Seattle, I would be more confident in Charbs. All right. Well, that'll do it for today's episode of the show, Ultimate draft kit.com. If you want to jump into the dynasty pass right now, the dynasty show will release. Is that tomorrow? or release tomorrow? Yes. And more of the dynasty implications for all of these moves
Starting point is 00:55:06 if you want to tune into that. Communities Jointhefoot.com and we will say goodbye. Shout out to the Ducers. They did their jobs once again over there. Amazing. Keep deusin. Let me see. Not loser, loser, loser.
