to the fantasy footballers podcast with your host, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright.
Oh, welcome in.
Do you guys hear that?
The welcome?
I heard it.
No growl.
Ah, yes.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
The boys are back together for a week.
Take it easy over there.
Are you gone again, Jason?
Yeah, sorry.
Yeah, remember we have the, his, our spring brakes don't over it.
Yeah, it's pretty annoying, but.
So your kids are off a different week and yeah.
Okay.
Well, whatever.
We're here today.
He's like, I want to spend time with my kids.
That is exactly what he sounds like a bad person.
Yeah, I know.
And so guilty.
Welcome into the fantasy footballers podcast, Tuesday, March.
Third, also known as Mike's birthday.
Oh, hey.
Happy.
Happy biggest one ever.
He is a regular Adam Thielen here on the show.
Hey, it's me, Mike.
Well, I could never be that because I can't outage Jason.
That's true.
Jason's the oldest.
But happy birthday, Mike.
I mean, still champ.
Yeah, we know.
I mean, the year of Mike.
Hold on, hold on.
Also still champ.
Was the last birthday, the birthday that was in the year of,
of Mike or is this
birthday in the year of Mike?
It's a great question.
Because when did it begin?
When does it end?
Does it end now?
Is it from birthday to birthday?
It could have been both.
It could be years.
It's all downhill now, man.
I have no idea.
If it's the years of Mike,
honestly, we're in deep trouble.
Tell me how Christian McCaffrey does next year
because I still have them everywhere.
Well, yeah, it worked out okay for you.
Thank you for joining us.
Fun show today.
we got free agency predictions on today's podcast.
Oh, man.
Because free agency is right around the corner, so I am super excited about that.
We went through, you know, we have our projections for, or I should say predictions for
kind of like the bigger movers and shakers of free agency, obviously not George or Kyle Pitts,
who at least for now will remain on their teams because they're going to get the franchise tag.
I, man, it didn't feel, not all of them felt really.
easy where usually you go in you're like
there's this rumor mill going on
I'm bought into it there's so many
rumor mills right now that I'm not bought into
I feel like I'm throwing a dart
really okay so you're
you are with me yeah I mean I have I have like
a few convictions yeah
and the convictions are less players this year
than they are teams like I have some convictions
around teams doing something
splashy with this position
right but I'm taking a shot on
the names and the like
what's extra difficult for me this year,
my convictions of how I think rationally things should go
and there's always surprises.
My convictions are not aligned with the recent rumor mills
for many of the players. So I'm like, do I just stick with what my gut is?
Do I, am I bought in that? It's a wild one this year.
Well, it will be fun. Do Mike a favor on his birthday? Head over to Spotify or Apple
drop him a five-star review.
That helps the podcast.
So this is for Mike.
It's for Mike.

We appreciate each and every one of you over there.
Our quick question of the day, any big takeaways from the NFL combine this past weekend?
Other than everyone running 4'3 something.
I mean, Kyle said he looked at the dad and he's like it wasn't really an outlier.
It just felt like every time I turned on the TV I'm watching someone sub 4-4 at running back or wide receiver and even one at tight end.
to at least help you and your thoughts, Jay.
This was, at least NFL was reporting, like, this is the fastest running back group that we have had.
Some of that.
Not necessarily all, they're all top in, but just, I think the average is up.
I think some of that is due to the fact that agents are wising up to like,
Yep.
Hey, dude.
Don't run if you're slow.
Yeah, you're not going to benefit.
Jonah Coleman.
I really wanted to see his 40 because I think he is very fast.
on film, but I don't know that he has that true breakaway speed.
I was so curious to see what his 40 was. That was the player I was most anticipating
watching for his 40 time. And here's what I learned. He must not be super fast because he did not
run it, which means he is smart and his agent is smart. Don't do it. Don't hurt yourself.
And we didn't. Don't Emmett Johnson. We didn't get Nicholas Singleton who said he was going to try
and run a four three because he has the
injury. Do they normally try to run like a
four or five? And this time he's like, I'm going to try to run. I
I tried to run a four or five. I was a few
seconds off, give or take. It seems like
within a couple seconds, man. I believe
we're going to be in a permanent state of
some tight end, if not more than one, just being the
bell of the ball at these. This was.
and in the draft and in fantasy football.
Yeah, Kenyon Sadiq.
Cool, man.
At the Combine first stores.
Yeah, yeah, both of them.
Yeah, I mean.
But like we're going, like,
here's the thing.
If you perform like this at the Combine,
like Sadiq did, you mentioned Stowers,
you're going to be drafted very highly.
Yes, you will.
The value of a tight end in the modern game,
we have seen it year after year after year.
We had Leporta, we had Bowers this past year.
We had three guys in Fannin,
in Warren and Loveland.
and you're going to have a couple, at least in this draft
that are drafted with such draft capital,
and we can't ignore them again.
Yeah.
You watch me.
Oh, I will watch you.
It's tough because I'm very difficult.
I'm completely in on the fact that in today's NFL,
you don't need to have multiple years for a tight end to come in and break out.
That's fine.
Sadiq specifically is very interesting because his athletic profile off the charts.
He was already projected to be a mid-first-round pick, and now with the combine measurables, I mean, he ran a 4-3-9.
He ran the same 40 as Jemir Gibbs, and he has an extra Jemir Gibbs on him.
It's like, that's crazy.
But his production profile, it wasn't like, okay, why didn't you do all the special stuff you're going to do in the NFL when you were in college?
Why didn't you do that?
Because I call me a little skeptical.
We're still...
Yeah, but where do you think he's drafted?
Oh, definitely in the top.
Yeah, I would say top 15.
Top 10, top 15 pick.
Yeah.
And so, yeah, you are welcome to doubt how he performs at the NFL level.
I think that's fair.
We have not had...
I mean, not every tight end has worked out, but we are on a recent streak of multiple
rookie tight ends contributing immediately or contributing even more over time.
Athleticism matters for our game, for favor.
fantasy football, trying to find the guys who can become standout tight ends,
athleticism matters more for the tight end position than it matters for everybody else,
as long as you're, as long as it's not just a complete disaster athletically.
No, I feel like it's, I think tight end's the biggest.
It definitely is.
However, so is production and especially touchdowns and like your dominator rating,
which is a combination of the team's yards and the team's touchdowns,
What percentage of them did you have?
And Sadiq's is very low, at least for, okay, very, not very low, but, but too low for
us to be like, I'm going to, all my chips are going to go in.
Like if he had a monster production profile with that athletic prototype, we, I would be
losing my mind right now.
But where it stands, I think he's going to be a very difficult decision for a lot of people.
because we're working on the dynasty pass, right?
The combine happened.
The second drop of the dynasty pass is being worked on right now.
We're tweaking some rankings, adding some guys.
You know, looking at the trade targets, making sure those are still good,
which, by the way, Woody Marks was in the tradeaway target.
Hope you did that.
But in that is another mock draft, a three-round rookie mock,
and I was at the fifth pick, and I'll just share it.
I took Sadiq.
because after the four big players, it was like,
we still have so many questions that I guess I'll just take the shot on the onesie position of this dude is just a freak.
Yeah, the production, it's tough.
You want to see it.
I think he was probably, I don't have the exact number, probably at around 40 to 45 yards a game this past season.
For Oregon, one of the best teams in the country.
He had 560 yards and 14 games.
Yeah, that's got to be like,
41 or 42, if you did the math on that.
I'm not a nerd.
Are you going to pull out a calculator?
Yeah.
Okay, so give me the number.
What do you want me to do?
560 divided by 14.
By 14.
You got it.
40.
Okay.
So 40 a game.
Price is right.
Very, very talented team.
But you would also like, you know, you'd love it to be Brock Bauer's Georgia production, right?
Yes.
Exactly.
Exactly.
If he had anything like Brock, it would just.
be number one pick. Good and is gracious.
It could be. He could legit be a
number one pick if that was the case after that combine.
Jason, any other takeaways from, you have
a Mike Washington note here? Yeah, I mean,
Mike Washington is the
he was the, I mean,
there's several, but one of the
big, like, whoa moments
was Mike Washington, a
223 pound running back
who was already, I feel
like he, I feel like he was
everyone, myself included,
but like everyone looked
Mike Washington is like this, oh, I think he's better than we think he's a sleeper like,
ah, he's, keep your eye on him. And now it's like cats out of the bag. You know, he ran 4-3-3.
He ran 4-33. And I've always said this. I said this literally the last dynasty show and I've
said it forever. If you're over 215 pounds at running back and you run sub 4-4, I'm in.
Because historically, that's a really good bet. That's that speed score, that trans, that trans.
translates to the NFL. He's 223 pounds, runs a 433. So it's exciting. It's good. But now I'm
actually, it's, it, the pendulum is going to swing too far. This is not a prospect that is looking
like a first round pick. And I do not doubt that he will go at the back of rookie first round draft.
Like, like, when it comes time to do your dynasty leagues. After the NFL draft? After the
NFL draft. Because it'll be early day two pick? No. Because people are too excited.
and they just are, I worry that his rocket ship might take him too close to the sun.
I don't think that'll happen unless the draft capital backs it up.
I mean, if you're coming after the NFL draft and he's a fifth, six, seventh round
pick, that's a problem.
If he's an early day two pick, if he's a third round draft pick, if he's a Trevion Judkins area.
My biggest worry.
Here's the worry.
He's a fourth round pick.
Now that's that could be the dangerville.
That's a trap.
Yeah, but look at these shoulders.
Yeah, that's where everyone's going to be.
Like the draft capital is going to get kind of put out of, you know, it's, it's one of those where
here's what's going to happen. It's going to be a day three pick that is a trade up to get him.
Right. And then all of the narrative is going to be like, ah, it's worth more capital.
So anyways, I like my Washington Jr. I was so excited with his combine time. I am worried that it overhypes him now.
What if he's the second round pick?
I'm in.
Yeah, I was used to. I'd be in then too.
He'll be the man.
I think an interesting part of the process at this point,
you know, there were some other guys who were kind of in the consideration to be,
maybe they're the RB2 in terms of the NFL draft.
And those, you know, like price didn't have a great combine.
Like there's the guys who were in contention to be, oh, this is the second.
This is the RB2.
they kind of faltered.
And so I don't think there is really
anything close to a consensus on
who should the running back to be right now.
And I'm not just us, but, you know,
other dynasty players out there.
So it's, I don't know if that's good or more fun
at this point.
I mean, if you have those rookie picks, you'd be,
you wish there was a two.
I mean, we had, we had ambiguity last year, too.
Because, I mean, we had some of us here that really liked Hampton.
You had people that like Trampton.
Right, but we knew they were all going to be drafted real high.
Yeah, we had like four good ones.
Yeah, we didn't know what order it would be in.
Let's move on, talk some news.
News and notes from around the league.
All right, let's start here.
ESPN's Rich Semini reporting,
if the Jets can't sign Breeze Hall by Tuesday, they will use a tag.
By the time you're listening to this, they might have used a tag.
It's such a skin tag.
Those are disgusting.
Skin tags are gross.
And that's what they're doing.
Sorry, Breece.
We thought you were going to get away.
Which one of the three of us has Briece all on their dynasty team.
I wonder.
David Montgomery traded to the Texans for fourth rounder, offensive linemen.
And a seventh rounder.
The Texans traded two linemen.
What could go wrong?
What are we doing?
Well, I mean, listen to this.
show Houston. They did this
last year. Going
into, so two years ago
they had the worst offensive line. I think it was the
worst in the league. It might have been like 31st,
but it was awful.
And then they got rid of
a lot of their line and it was like,
how are you, their starters, they're losing
starters, they're getting worse. Then they were
terrible this last year and now they're getting rid
of more. They're like, let's do it again.
But what's interesting about this
is that it was originally reported
that the compensation was a fifth
round pick. And then
it changed to more.
A fourth rounder,
office of linemen, a seventh
rounder. And there were
I think right now
it's unconfirmed but pretty
substantiated rumors that after
it was reported that this trade
had been made, another team
tried to scoop in
and pretty much all of it confirmed by
Benjamin Albright. Right. He's saying
that it was the Broncos that came in to try
to get David Montgomery for that price or for better, and then the Texans paid more.
Regardless, that's...
Yeah, it turned into a player and a fourth and a seventh.
Yeah, it's an interesting deal.
It obviously has a lot of ramifications for David Montgomery, for Woody Marks, for
Jamir Gibbs.
Yeah, I've gone...
I've gone full circle.
So you're back to where you began.
I've gone one half of a circle.
I don't know, man.
I've gone oval.
Tell me where you started and where you are now.
I started with a reaction of, oh, great, this...
good running back is free to be what he is capable of being.
And then I moved all the way around to where I don't think it's going to be great.
And it's not just the offensive line.
That's part of the problem.
But, I mean, we've seen David Montgomery when he's had the reins with the bad
offensive line in Chicago and he was the dude there for a while.
The system is so perfect in Detroit, obviously.
Great offense, high efficiency offense.
That's not what we've seen from Houston.
Now, you could find some hope, I think, in the success that Joe Mixon had.
Yes.
Which I think you can go that direction.
I don't think it'll be as good as that because I do think, look, where does Woody Marks fit into an offense?
Exactly where he's going to fit in here.
Not the dude, but a dude that will get work that the team respects.
He can now go out for a few plays injured every day because David Montgomery can come in and play.
And who knows what else they have in the works.
So to me, I feel like he will be the leader of a committee behind him.
a bad offensive line with a quarterback that has shown.
He's not exactly capable of putting up top half numbers in this league with a defense first team.
So all that to say, like what is Monty?
Is he better in Houston than he was in Detroit this past year?
Yes.
He will be a dead zone running back.
He just, I'm more on the nervous side now than I think I would have been before because I think when he was in Detroit.
he was an easy pass in most drafts until late.
But in Houston, I think there will be a percentage of us that are like, yeah, it's going to work great.
It will be very interesting.
And he's almost 29.
It's so crazy the parallels here with the same team from a few years ago.
Like you had Damien Pierce, who was this later round rookie who came out and was like, hey, he's a stud.
You've got your running back on lockdown.
He's not going to go away.
But then the team was like, you know what?
Go away.
Go away.
We want to trade for a 29-year-old running back, and they brought in Joe Mixen.
And then it's like, well, Joe Mixon's going to have to split with Damien Pierce,
and I don't know, will it work?
And it's not a great offensive line.
And then Joe Mixon was outstanding, and he got all the work, and Damien Pierce vanished.
And now it's like a couple years later with the same team, they had Woody Marks look pretty good.
And then they're like, go, you know, let me trade quite a bit here.
for a 29-year-old running back who's proven.
And I think they're going to give him the work.
I really do think that they are making this move
because they think it's important for the style of football they want to play.
However, that doesn't mean it's going to be easy to work out if the offensive line isn't good.
I mean, we saw Jamal Williams be awesome with the Detroit Lions,
lead the league in rushing touchdowns, go out and get a bag of money.
That's a good one to bring out.
Turns out the Lions were part of that recipe.
mattered. But I do think we have seen success and we know that Stroud can throw to the running
back. You know, it'll be interesting when we stat everybody out for the ultimate draft kit
to see how high or how low Montgomery goes. But as far as team volume share, rushing share,
target share out of the backfield, I'm going to believe that David Montgomery is very involved.
The last two times who's in Chicago, I just wanted to look at these numbers and throw them out there,
no conclusions.
The last two years in Chicago where he had 276 and 241 opportunities,
he was the running back 21 and running back 23.
I could see him at RB 20 this year.
RB 18 to 20.
Mike, are you more optimistic than that?
No, I'm on Jason's side of.
I think he gets all the work, but I'm not,
I'm less confident how successful it will be.
I mean, we didn't even talk about the other side of it.
I wanted to talk about that because the reaction.
The reaction on.
in the Twitter streets, as they should be.
It's like, holy crap, Jemir Gibbs,
101 in redraft.
You throw out all the numbers.
Jamir Gibbs games where David Montgomery is not there.
He is an unstoppable force.
You could do it now.
He could.
You could take him 101 now.
The, where I do, it's just a final.
This is just a full speculation show because we're talking about free agency
where we think guys are going to go.
The Lions will do something.
at the running back position.
They will do something.
They're not going to go in with, like, I mean,
what if, let me, let me ask you this.
According to our lads is their current RB2.
What if they signed, um, Al Jir?
Well, that's what I mean of could someone sneaky like Al Jare come in where you're like,
oh boy, that is like that's young David Montgomery.
That's a hammer.
The difference to me is that Gibbs arrived.
with an incumbent starter
who lost his starter job.
Yes.
This at least,
whatever free agent move they make,
is it's in
the right order, right?
Like,
you know your number one back is gifts.
Yes, it will be understood.
Like,
I feel,
I finally feel like
we can put Gibbs in that place
where you know the workloads
guaranteed enough.
Now, yes,
the variables are there.
I mean,
they could bring in the Jamal Williams type.
They could bring in those guys
that get goal line.
I just want to know how Mike will feel,
how he will,
handle emotionally and practically
Ken Walker the signing of
Rico Dowdle. Daudill. Daudill is a strong
Doughton makes so much sense. It's a perfect signing for them. Yeah. And
because like they're going to have to
pay Gibbs. Like that is, that time
is approaching. Where are we with that? With Monty and Detroit
while you look at that. So he's in Joe Gibbs is going into year four.
As a first rounder, this is where he will probably be like,
come on now.
Give me bag time.
Give me some more of that cash.
So you can't.
I'm not saying they can give Gibbs the cash and then go get a superstar running back,
but someone like Doubtle where it can be a contract large enough to make you like your eyebrows start to wrinkle at the situation.
I think he belongs in conversation for number one.
Yeah.
I agree.
I think if you took him at number one, there's plenty of arguments as to why to take him over CMC at this point.
Oh, it's, it's, we be genre games.
The, the, the 101 right now is in the hands of Tyler Algear.
Sure.
Where do you go, sir?
Does he go back to Atlanta?
Yeah, because that's going to change.
Does he go to, does he go to the Lions?
Because that, you know, it's like Tyler Algear gets to decide fantasy football.
You know, well, I want to go to Detroit.
I want it to be somebody like Dobbins.
I want it to be somebody that is older.
It's not the contract of the first, you know,
Al Jir, this is his first contract he's going to get.
I want it to be, you know, Dowdell.
Right.
He said, Dowdell doesn't want to go.
I don't think Dowell wants to go to Detroit.
That's the only comforting fact that I have there.
He may not have a choice, but he said he wants somebody to give him the rock.
And goodness, Montgomery left because he wasn't getting the rock.
So to me, what is this stat, Kyle just throughout?
Gibbs has the most total touchdowns in NFL history by any running back through the first three years of his career.
Oh, yeah.
Which is crazy for an undersized, like, yeah, running back.
That's just an insane stat.
Yeah, we better move on. ESPN on the other side of the coin here.
They decided Adam Schifter reporting the Vikings will release Aaron Jones if they can't trade him.
This just in. The Vikings will release Aaron Jones.
Yeah, no one's going to trade for Aaron Jones and they need cap space and so bye.
Emmanuel Wilson.
George, Jordan Mason guys.
Yeah, you know, I watched Jordan Mason.
Yeah, he wasn't very good this year.
He had his moments, but that is everything I watched about him said, man, you need another dude,
that backfield. But they don't have money. Like getting rid of Aaron Jones that is purely a
financial thing. Like all reports are he's one of the leaders in the locker room. So it's like this
will affect and shake up the vibes of the team that they don't necessarily want to do, but they have
to make a move. So I just mean, Jordan Mason will still be under contract with an okay amount of money.
So he will be the leader and there will certainly be someone else. And it'll come down to just, can they
be the draft. Can they fix the line enough to get Jordan Mason going?
All right, quick break, and then we'll talk some more news.
Packers did not tender restricted free agent, Emmanuel Wilson. He will be a free agent.
Okay. Go to Detroit.
Sure. I will let you know which players I would approve in Detroit.
Emmanuel Wilson is now one of them. What about Aaron Jones?
Fine with me. Perfect. Just have them tour the entire division?
That's fine. Oh, man, that's funny.
this is this is a conversation yeah are we even going to get into predictions i who cares this is
i tried to warn you this is scary this is legit because i love i love it we're just teasing it's not
it's not just a quote like watching it what i'm about to say right now yeah i mean it was it was
scary saying is unbelievable that i'm about to tell you raiders head coach clinkubiak says they
quote definitely want to have a two-man show at running back this season uh last year ashen ginty
you saw 39% of the team's total rush attempts and targets.
Only Jonathan Taylor, CMC, and Bidjan had a higher percentage.
They'll be drafting Mendoza.
They've got Bowers.
They've got Genti, and that'll be part of the...
And we've got free agency predictions,
and I have the Raiders with at least one of them.
But we'll have some...
This is not...
Discussions here.
The staff...
You know, it's like...
Even though Ashton Genti was drafted last year,
it's a new regime.
And so this is like the pot committed...
That part I don't care about.
The thing is, is when you spend capital like they did, a top 10 pick on a player,
you are guaranteed to give him all of the work.
Now, his talent will still retain the majority of the work.
He's too good.
But they're not beholden to that other truth anymore now.
Who else is really, really, really, really good?
You're going to say Kenneth Walker.
Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker.
Yeah, I mean, I'm not really worried about the workload and I'm not really worried about the report.
unless you give me a body in
Las Vegas that makes me worried about
because there isn't a body there that's going to do anything
where I think
I have, this is not worries about Ashen Genty.
He is a great player.
It is just the circumstances
around him and running
in circumstances for fantasy running backs matter
so much. Maybe Mendoza
comes in and he is the truth.
Like he's one of these
that quarterbacks that immediately is like
Justin Herbert out of the game. Holy crap. This
his team really, really improved, or he's like the vast majority of rookies where you're like,
okay, I can see it.
It's going to take some time.
And my projection would be the Raiders are not going to be a good team next year.
We know the numbers of just fantasy running backs when they're playing with a rookie quarterback.
Their touchdowns are way down.
That's where it gets scary for Gentie.
The receiving work will be there.
But the pie of touchdowns is going to remain small.
And if you bring someone else in and there is a chance that they are siphoning off touchdowns.
We didn't see this with the Mara though, right?
What do you mean?
For Cuba.
In, I mean, we were in New Orleans and Camara was the dude and he was the dude all the time.
Last year, I mean, look, we had two years of injured Ken Walker.
They liked Charboning.
I'm just saying, I think that if you don't give me a name that I have respect for in Los Angeles, in Las Vegas's backfield, I'm not going to worry about it.
Yeah, I mean, the backfield is what matters.
But I do think, I mean, you just said, you and your free age.
I mean, he had all the work for Kubiak.
Yeah, but I would go off of the most recent example of Kubiak being in charge of the office.
He did just have great success.
And won a Super Bowl.
Winning a Super Bowl with taking Kenneth Walker and saying,
Charbs, you're up.
So it's not a, this isn't an actionable piece of news as in like, go, go get trade for Gentie or trade him away.
No, no, no, no, no.
is just be aware of this
that there might be a name that shows up for the Raiders
and it will bum you out.
Yeah, it sounds like they are going to need to add somebody
if he wants to have a two running back committee
because Lauby is not going to be the answer.
Neither is Moesterd who is 200 years old
or is Amir White, who I think we have one of his runs here.
And it's also possible that when he was, you know,
when he was the coach,
with Camara, remember that the back they brought in, you know, to be that other guy was Kendra Miller who never got to play football.
Sure.
Yeah, they could not get somebody else on the field.
But that speaks to your depth.
Your current depth chart says, oh, yeah, I'm in agreement with that.
Like, they have to bring someone in.
But I'd, yeah, I, look, everyone's got their own opinion.
I don't, this bothers me zero.
Okay.
For Ashton Gentie.
All the problems with Gentie before this news, I have a problem with.
like you just brought up.
You just brought up rookie quarterback.
Touchdown opportunities and offensive line.
How about best ball?
I don't care about any committee situation.
Best ball, running back seven, the 12th overall pick.
I mean, give me more names that have a better ceiling than Gentie.
Who would you rather have right now, Gentie or Hampton?
Amarian Hampton or Ashen Gentie?
Honestly, probably Gentie.
I don't like saying that.
I have Hampton.
Interesting.
Probably Gentie.
Let's say Jeremiah Love goes to the Washington Commanders
That's seven.
Jeremy Love.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah.
No, Jeremiah Love is really, really good at football.
Yeah.
In our combine chatter, we didn't even talk about him because he was already the consensus
number one rookie pick, and it's now even more.
Genty has tons of, like, red flag situations going on right now.
But when I think of a best ball, I'm thinking of like, who could freaking take the league over
next year?
That's fair.
You watched him in the last handful of games having those.
That offense was putrid, and he had breakaway runs and breakaway catches.
And I'm just thinking of explosiveness.
it's like, are we having this conversation next year going,
oh, remember when we said that?
And then Ginty's RB2 or something.
Because part of the equation of all those red flags that we should give Kubiak credit for is he's freaking awesome.
Like they have,
they don't have Pete Carroll.
They have a freaking awesome coach in Clint Kubiak who everybody wanted.
And there's just no way Mendoza is less competent than the last two years of quarterback.
And it's not Pete Carroll's son running the offensive line.
Right.
So it's like maybe they'll have more touchdown opportunities with a better coach.
Okay, I hadn't seen one of these rumors.
We're talking about a couple of different things here.
I hesitated to bring one up because I thought maybe we talked about it in free agency predictions,
but I don't want to bring it up now.
The Giants are, quote, seriously looking at some of the top running backs in draft and free agency.
Thank you.
The people hate it.
The people hate it.
The people hate it.
We all hate it.
Don't you hurt my camp scataboo.
I know he's only got one leg right now, but.
it makes obvious sense that they'd be doing that.
I know, but I don't like it.
But the names and the amount of money it will take.
Yeah, I mean, they're talking about,
they're talking about Jeremiah Love.
They've been rumored.
There's rumors around Ken Walker.
The Walker ones are the rumors where it's like,
if to bring it,
the reason why they're saying,
where Seattle is saying,
we're probably not going to get Walker back
is because of the bag of money he's going to get.
Like, if you're,
Ken Walker and
money's all the same. Why would you go to the
Giants and not just go back to Seattle? It would have
to take an amount of money
to lure me away from the team
I just won the Super Bowl. They picked fifth overall
so the love conversation if he's not
gone by then, we'll be watching
with bated breath. It sucks
because this is the
you know, this is the second
blow of the injury to Camp Scatterby.
You know, if he doesn't get hurt,
this conversation is not happening
because you feel really good about him and you just feel about
adding an ancillary piece.
But with the injury, the severity of it, the timetable, the risk of re-injury,
the risk of getting back at full speed.
The people hate it. The Giants are sitting there going, well, look,
we're not going into the season with just this one asset at running back.
Jim Harbaugh is not doing that.
That's why I was so excited about Tyrone Tracy being very competent because I felt like
Tyrone Tracy could hold off the Giants doing this.
This was my big fear.
So I was like, Tyrone Tracy is good enough to let Cam.
have the time and then come back and take over.
Maybe it's smoke. That's my hope.
That's my hope. I mean...
Maybe it's to make the people drafting at six
and seven and eight think that they want
Jeremiah love and swip-swap them.
Yeah, I sure hope so. Let's go with that,
Cam. Because I... Scada boom!
I rebuke this report.
Kyle rebukes this one.
Jeremy Fowler reporting,
a head coach told him at the scouting combine to watch
for Tuotunga Vilo to Atlanta.
What do you?
you get when you have two left-handed
quarterbacks that can't
complete a path? There
was a... Two lefts, don't
make it right. Another interesting rumor
which...
So Matthew Barry writes
an article every year. It's a great article
because he goes to the combine and he gets a bunch of rumors.
And one of them was
Joe Flacco to Atlanta.
You're like, that makes
so much sense. Oh my
gosh. Also, that
would rule. Like, imagine
Drake London. Oh, Drake London with Joe Flacco.
Back in Stefansky's offense,
catch a passes from Joe Flacco?
That would rule, man.
45% target share.
Tua? No.
Vikings.
Reporting, uh,
this reports from Tony Pauline.
They're quietly exploring an exit strategy
for J.J. McCarthy. hasn't been that
quiet. No. I think it's like I can't get
away from the rumors of they're totally
willing to move on right away.
Tyler Murray, Gino Smith.
Anthony Richardson, all names that have been mentioned.
I mean, you never are 100% sure where it's coming from.
Like, is the call coming from inside the house?
We don't know that for sure.
But it's like, if you're Minnesota,
and this is what's going on right now,
like, you better replace him.
Like, you can't have an entire offseason of this of, like,
J.J. McCarthy, anytime the sports rumors are on,
like, we're going to get rid of McCarthy.
We want someone else.
And you better do it.
This reminds me of like, let's say you're putting on a play and you cast a bunch of people.
And then they cast JJ McCarthy for this role.
And then he gets up there and the dude can't sing, but everybody's around him.
I'm just saying like, oh, it sounds all right.
No, it sounds pretty.
Look, everybody in the audience, everybody on the team around him, they know the truth.
And we're all wanting to say maybe he'll come along.
but now instead of him just being good,
the story is he has to become good.
That's the problem with J.J. McCarthy.
You can believe he's going to become good,
but you can't possibly feel as good about him now
than before he played.
And we're all going, yeah, you know what?
Maybe some voice lessons.
You know what I mean?
Kevin O'Connell, he's a whisperer, man.
What's ironic about this situation?
We all know it might not work.
Is the last time that a team drafted someone very high
to be their future and then immediately moved on,
it was easier because they had the number one pick.
It was our Arizona Cardinals.
They drafted Kyler Murray and got rid of Josh Rosen after one, you know, flame out year.
And then the ironic part is the only way that the Vikings can truly just easily move on is also Kyler Murray.
Like if they can just go and sign Kyler, he can, but I'm saying that would give that.
I think if they knew that they had Kyler in tow, if he was a free agent and signed or they could trade for him or whatever, I think they would do that in a heartbeat and move on.
Kyler, the entire off-season discussion around every single player on the Vikings' offense is different.
Oh, yeah. And all of a sudden. And we don't like Kyler that much. And all of a sudden,
everyone out there is going to love Kyler if he goes to the Viking. Yeah. And the other report,
Anthony Richardson, that was the report about them having an interest in a trade. The Colts are going to move on from Anthony Richardson.
Jason and I had briefly talked about him a little bit in the office. He still lives with this like aura of promise that formerly was there.
but we forget he's played a lot of football.
He played more games than I remembered this last year.
I went back and I looked and I was like, oh, that's some bad.
Yeah, 11 games last year.
Passing percentage?
What?
I know, right?
No, no, no, that year before.
Oh, four last year.
We're in February, so the last year moniker is a little bit.
Yeah.
Gotcha.
This past year, four games, the year before 11.
And you were out, but let me ask you this, because he obviously has physical tools that are unteachable.
if you were...
Please don't teach me as tools.
Would you rather
have J.J. McCarthy or Anthony Richardson.
In Minnesota?
No. A totally different team. General manager.
They're both on the market and they're both dealing with the same stuff,
which is they had promise, but then you saw them.
And it was a lot of uh-ohs.
That part of you could say, hey, I just want somebody to run around and figure things out.
Yeah. And then there's most of me says J.J.
I'd take McCarthy.
Yeah.
McCarthy had some good games.
No, he did.
But Anthony Richardson had some awesome games too.
He sung a couple songs pretty good.
Oh, man.
But man, he can't hit the high notes.
You remember that locker room?
Yeah.
Named.
He did give us that.
That would be the greatest contribution.
Potentially he gets to the...
Yeah, Josh Rosen never gave us anything that good.
The meme?
No.
Not as good as that meme.
We got to take another break and then we're into it.
Fantasy, free agency, prediction.
free agent frenzy.
All right, we're going to get into our predictions.
And man, are they going to be so correct?
I can't wait.
It's a good time to let you know the NFL's cap is now $301 million.
It had kind of been moving upwards and upwards and upwards.
It went down right after COVID.
But to go from $208 million in 2022 to $301 million in 2026,
is unbelievably amazing.
I feel like the NFL's doing all right.
In terms of teams of cap room, it's always, it's always good to.
Makes me even angrier at Bill Bedwell, dude.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
What?
Cap room for teams, Titans number one, Raiders number two, jets number three,
Chargers number four.
And that was,
I believe that was both.
Bidwell when the cap number comes out.
Degummit, you're raising this thing to 301?
True.
He's like, I ain't got that money.
You got to pay my players.
I think these numbers are all before the cap raise as well.
So I think there's a handful of teams, the Titans Raiders, Jets, and Chargers,
who will have over $100 million in available cap space for those.
The Chargers are so exciting.
I know that I'm like a lifelong Herbert Stan, but at the same time, that is, if you look at
the teams that have a lot of money, not many of them have as many tools and weapons available.
No, that one stands out.
I mean, they're just ahead of the game.
Titans Raiders, Jets are three horrible teams.
And they lost two really good tackles last year.
Imagine that team.
They get those two tackles back.
Sure up the inside of the line.
Like they don't have to spend this cat money to, you know, to get some tackles.
They just get them for free.
Yeah, and then they get to go spend the money.
It's not free.
Well, for the same price they were already paying.
They're not paying a dollar more.
The Seahawks have a lot of space and they're going to be able to pay the guys they need to pay in that young defense as well.
J.S.N about to just consume that entire cap.
We're recording this episode in the afternoon of March 2nd.
So it's being listened to on Tuesday.
4 p.m. Eastern is the franchise tag deadline.
The legal tampering period where teams can enter contract negotiations is Monday,
March 9th. And then Wednesday, March 10th is the official beginning of the league year,
which is just about one week away.
So I'm the reigning champion of free agency predictions.
That's never happened before.
And it must have been like a score of two to one to one.
But I'll take it.
Amazing, Kyle.
We get so many of them right.
Well, this year for sure.
All right, we'll start at the quarterback position.
Just two names we want to throw predictions out for.
Really kind of just one.
Daniel Jones, who is a free agent.
They've talked about tagging him, whether it's a transition,
a franchise, they're working on a contract.
I think the expectation is he's going to be a cult.
The reason that they're literally willing to shop Anthony Richardson is because they know
their solution.
And I don't think Daniel Jones wants to go anywhere.
I can't imagine that it doesn't work out for him to stay in Indianapolis.
So the big name then is Malik Willis in terms of free agency predictions.
And we actually all have different destinations for Malik Willis.
So rubber meets the road right now.
Who do you got, Mike?
So I have the Cleveland Browns.
honestly, I think it really comes down to two teams,
and it's not the one that Jason's going with.
I think it's either my team or yours, Andy.
It's just such a, it's a weird situation
where teams should want Malik Willis.
What you have seen, you know, not just last year,
but two years ago as well.
He believes in him.
He seems like a starting quarterback in the league.
but for a guy who seems like a starting quarterback and the amount of money that your team will have to commit to him,
that's where it becomes difficult to figure out who's actually willing to take that jump.
So he had three starts the last two years in Green Bay.
And I'm going with Cleveland.
He had rushing totals of 73, 60, and 41 in those games.
That is a fantasy, like superpower.
I actually believe in Malik Willis being a really good quarterback.
Mike went with the Browns.
That was, I was between the Browns and my Arizona Cardinals.
I think that's how I'm going to go with Arizona.
I think they'll spend the money on Malik Willis.
I'm trying to not let the like, the 30 million numbers should shock you.
However, you just had a cap go from $208 million to $301 million in four years.
Those numbers, it's market rate for quarterbacks.
He's earned it or he'll have earned it.
That's where it's different.
I get it.
If you're going to pay him to be a starter,
you're going to have to pay starter money.
That's all I'm saying.
And there are multiple teams that seem to want to make them a starter,
including maybe Jason's pick.
Yeah, and this is where he's going to end up going.
Oh.
It will be the Packers East.
The new Miami Dolphins regime is basically coming from Green Bay.
This is their new GM, their head coach.
They are intimately familiar with,
Malik Willis and they've got connections to him. That's essentially why I've got him going to the
dolphins. The dolphins need a quarterback. They're familiar with them. And we just see too often
when things happen. It's like, well, who are you connected to? What what personnel were you
comfortable with? Who did you know? And that's, you know, where players go and who coaches want.
And that's as part of the Arizona thing too. Yeah, sure. I mean, there's obviously in the NFL,
like most teams have a handful of connections to other players. These ones are pretty
direct and the need is for all three of these teams.
We'll see. I'm excited. I think we're going to see Malik Willis as a starter, which adds
a very interesting name to the quarterback pool for fantasy players for next year.
Kyler Murray is the domino of what does Arizona actually decide to do with Murray? Do they
keep him for another year? Do they just full-on cut him? I think he'll be released maybe by the time
the show is being talked about. It sounds like he's going to be released, which I just can't imagine.
you can't get something.
It happens so often.
You know that, though?
Yeah.
There are these big names that this happens so often where you're like,
you've got to be able to get something.
Somebody should throw you a third, a fourth, like, whatever.
Like, you'd be like, I'd take an eighth.
You know what I mean?
You're like, sir, there's no one and eighth round.
I'd take a.
Deal.
I'd take 50 bucks, you know, it's amazing, but it happens all the time where these guys just get cut.
Running backs.
We have one.
We'll start with the one.
we're unanimous on. It's Brees Hall, 24
years old. Despite all of
our hopes, dreams, and his
goals for his life, he seems to be,
he's going to be a jet.
Yeah. He's going to be a jet by
contract or by, when
you're listening to this, he'll either have signed a contract
or been franchised. That's the truth.
So let's go with Ken Walker. We have three different
destinations for Ken Walker. Let's start with Jason.
I'm going to have him going back to the Seahawks.
I know that he can get
a lot of money on the market, but they won the
Super Bowl. He wants to come back. They want him
back. This is, this is, I'm not bullish that he goes back to Seattle because all running back
should take the bag. Go test the market and take the bag. But you're confident enough to pick them.
I'm giving the Super Bowl nod to, to the reunite. I'm going with the New York football giants.
I think that they make a splash, Harbaugh. Be a smoke screen. I'm going to go with the sad truth.
Ken Walker to the Giants. Mike? No. I'm going Washington. They really need a running back.
and I don't know,
that just feel like they're,
they need to make a splash at that position
and get it short up.
All right, Travis E.T.N. Jr., 27 years old.
Three different destinations here predicted for him.
I'm going to go with Arizona.
I think part of this offseason,
the bad press,
the Cardinals are dumb.
They will be dumb again.
They'll be dumb and spend on Malik
and they'll be dumb and spend on Travis E.T.N.
Arizona with James Conner's injury.
Benson's injury. I mean, they went through four or five running backs last year.
ETN's a dual threat. I think they bring Arizona.
ETN to Arizona. We're talking about Willis and Travis ETN.
Yeah, I've got him going to the Chiefs. I know the Chiefs are everyone's favorite place to pick for Jeremiah.
I love to go, but I don't know that he lasts till the ninth pick.
And the Chiefs clearly need a good workhorse dual threat running back.
I don't feel like Kareem Hunt and, you know,
Pacheco this version post-broken leg are good enough.
So I would love that.
And maybe this is just hopeful as I've got them on my Dinosty roster.
Like I just, come on.
Go to Kansas City.
Pacheco and Kreme Hunt, well, they won't be there.
And like they have to do something.
I'm going with a running back is always fun because you like, you can be surprised.
Well, yeah, you're like, well, these are the four teams that clearly have to go get a running back.
And then it's like, oh, this team that you thought they were perfectly fine, I'm going
with the Chicago Bears of...
Makes sense.
This is a DeAndre Swift release?
Not necessarily.
It might just be, hey,
like,
look,
Manangai was great.
He was a seventh round pick, though,
and with these...
It happens to those guys all the time,
and, like,
the Monty to his...
Bring E.
And you...
It's not necessarily a Swift release.
It might be both of them this year,
and then prepping for
when DeAndre Swift is no longer on the team.
Swift can, is a one million
dollar dead cap if they release them.
It may be a cut too. J.K. Dobbins. He was good.
J.K. Dobbins last year was very good in Denver.
Got hurt. We just talked about Denver. They were
maybe swooping in to get David Montgomery.
Dobbins, I have going back to Denver. Mike, you have him going back to Denver.
I love him going back to Denver. He says he wants to be a Bronco.
But the things Sean Payton has been saying, I mean,
he talked about their three biggest needs this offseason, the three positions they're
going after the most. I don't remember.
number one of them, I think it was the defense. The other was tight end and running back.
If you remember anything, remember these three things. Something? Number one. I don't remember.
Number two. But number two is a big one. Look, I don't care about the defensive side of the ball here on his needs.
But I was surprised that he said running back is like one of their biggest party.
I know, RJ Harvey. So because of that, I think they're looking, and they were the rumored team that was trying to get David Montgomery. I think they've got a type. They want a bruiser.
and so I've got him leaving and going to the Falcons.
Okay.
Well, the bruiser you've got coming to Denver is the next man up.
Yes, I've got Tyler, Alger, Jason, you have him going to the Denver.
Little Swapski, Team Swaps.
Yeah, there you go.
I've got him going to Washington.
I don't, I think the Washington splash might not be as exciting as the one you had predicted.
Al Jio would be fun.
And Mike, this would be the same case in your.
I'm going with Kansas City over.
I went him over Travis E.T.N.
Because I think that they need.
while ETN is a is a versatile player
like they need
a thomper on the ground like they need a
they need a beef boy they need someone
who can actually make the other team very scared of the run
almost like they should have drafted
Jonathan Taylor over
almost almost like that should happen but like
that's a huge part of what's missing for the chiefs
is there no one's scared that they're
gonna just take over the game on the ground
get those safeties pulled forward
and then hit with the deep play.
So I'm going with Beef Boy, Alger and the Chiefs.
And Rico Dowdo will predict for him as well.
I have him actually going to the team with a ton of cap space.
I have him going to the Chargers.
I think he could look at the Chargers situation with the offensive line coming back
and the opportunity and say, hey, I can make a mark there.
It's O'Marian Hampton.
He's young.
You're not really dealing with anybody else there.
I'm going to go to Chargers for Dowell.
I'm going to go the Saints.
Yeah, that makes sense.
They've got Camara and not a lot.
and Camara's old and he just feels like a good stopgap for them.
I'm going with Arizona.
I think.
Your boy coming home?
I think they move forward with Trey Benson and a not a super high tier running back,
but someone to compliment Benson as the writing on the wall in Arizona is that
James Connor's time will be done in Arizona.
And I think if I'm Rico and looking at if Benson's the starter,
I'm going to come here because I think I could take the job.
How many minutes before you would own a Rico Doudal jersey?
Oh, he would get one quick.
Wide receiver predictions.
We're going to start with the 32 and a half year old Mike Evans.
This is so sad.
And none of the three of us have him going back to Tampa Bay.
He needs to resign with Tampa.
He has a lifelong buck.
He needs to retire as a buck.
It's like Larry.
Larry just stayed here in Arizona.
You want to be first ballot.
You stay home.
But we didn't predict that.
I have him going to the 49ers in a splash move.
getting a big name there, they need it bad.
They do. Someone else needs it bad.
Mike and I both have the same team.
The bills.
He's going to a Super Bowl contender.
If you leave, it's only to chase a ring.
And so you've got to say, what team can I put over the top?
The bills are perfect.
Oh my gosh, I need him to leave for a Bucca.
Sure.
I feel like that would just rebirth some optimism there.
For fantasy, I would like Mike Evans to leave.
Yeah.
For the NFL, I certainly want him to be a buccaneer until he retired.
Well, it is a slight step down, not in the Hall of Fame tier anymore.
But Alec Pierce, 25 years old, had a great season.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Colts have, quote, made it clear to Alex Pierce that he would be a cult, either through the tag or a long-term deal.
So I will go with the Colts.
I've got the Colts as well, but the issue here is that they're kind of saying the same thing about Daniel Jones and Alex Pearson.
And they can only tag one of them.
Yeah, exactly.
So how about if he left?
Do you want to give a, like we all say Colts, but if he leaves.
leaves.
I wasn't prepared for that game.
Well, there are a lot of different contenders.
You don't have to do it.
If he leaves.
I have the Patriots.
If he leaves, I would go Titans.
Okay, that's good.
Raiders are up there, I'm sure.
If he leaves, I'm going to go Washington.
Washington.
Okay.
And then...
I wish it.
I don't, do you guys see the reports of, like, it's all...
It seems certain that Debo will not be there.
Oh.
Oh, I hadn't seen it.
Yeah, that seems about right.
It's time to move on.
Debo and Tyreek, we loved you for a long time.
It's over.
Wondale Robinson, 25 years old.
I didn't realize this.
We all have more in the same spot.
We've all got them going to the Titans.
The dayball connection is obvious there.
I think that.
And the loser tax.
Right.
If I'm Wondale Robinson.
Oh, yeah, you want to get that loser money.
Loser money.
You're like your Tennessee?
No, that's another zero on there.
That's why Alec Pierce to the Raiders is also a possibility.
Yeah, it could be.
Let's go through a couple tight ends here.
Kyle Pitts already signed the franchise tag.
David Njoku, Dallas Goddert.
It's weird because when you say those names,
I think of Goddard as somehow younger than Nogoku.
Really?
Really?
Really?
Really?
And been around for so long and been hurt and not hurt and good and not good
and just been around the block for so long.
Goddard is two years older than Njoku.
I've got Nogoku going to the dolphins and Dallas,
Goddard signing in Philadelphia back home.
Yeah, the reports from local beat report,
reporters recently have Goddard pretty confidently going back to Philly, which I was surprised
with. That's why I went to Philly. Then we had another one that he is definitely not going
back to Philly. Ah, there you go. The rumor of middle this year. I don't think it's going to be. Now you see how
I easily won last year. I don't think it's going to be a hot market for him at his current age.
But he's a safety blanket. He had the most touchdowns. Like taking him away from Jalen Hertz
feels foolish right now. And if he doesn't command a big market, I think they'll do it.
David Nogoku is the prize possession, in my opinion, of current existing Titans available on free agent on the market.
And the Broncos, Sean Payton, really wants someone like Nogoku.
Would you like to know why he feels older?
Why?
Njoku feels older than Goddard.
He doesn't to me.
Well, he entered the league a year before Goddins.
Yeah, he's played more.
He came in.
No, I know.
I'm just saying he's had more seasons, so that's why it feels that way.
I'm pretty sure he was drafted at like eight years old.
eight years old he was such a baby boy no but he's he started in 2017 goddard in 2018 so
my mind had the draft class is not the age yeah do you have him going back to philly mike i have
yeah i have got her going back to philly and what about nojoku i'm i'm going to send him to the
bucks where you have you lose evans and you got to go make a splash and i think kate otton
is kate's a free agent right let me double check that yeah he is he is always isaiah
likely another interesting name darren waller right fan Travis kelons
Daryn Waller, you.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
So here we go.
I mean, by the time you're listening to this, the franchise tag deadline is over.
Some of the news might have already broke, but we're a week away from the new league year and a lot of new homes.
Updating all our player profiles for new teams for some of these players.
And, you know, Ken Walker, that's one of the bigger names that we're going to see where he ends up.
It's funny because you're like, I'd like to see Ken Walker go back to Seattle and do his thing, right?
But at the same time, you're like, man, change is fun.
Yeah.
Changes is exciting.
It's the unknown.
Who knows what's going to happen?
As long as it's not New York.
Yes, thank you.
Oh, man.
It might be.
We'll see.
We have a Thursday show.
It's a big one.
The Walker Bros.
Can't handle that?
We can't survive enough.
Look, we were on top of the world when we had Ken Walker all alone.
And then Sharbs in the second round ruins everything to feel like we have finally escaped the clutches of Charbonnet,
to go to Skis.
A guy you like.
I love Scataboo.
You didn't even like Sharbs.
I know.
I did.
I love Charbs.
That was part of the problem.
Well, look.
Come on.
We'll find out soon.
