Starting point is 00:01:03 Stalin, fold your prostates back out. Yeah. This is about as good as it gets. It doesn't get better than this. Yeah. In the 20th century history, Stalin, mid-30s onwards.
Starting point is 00:01:16 You were saying potentially our biggest episode yet, which I think is definitely up there, for sure. This is the Great Terror. It's terrifying. Are you feeling terrifying? This is Oogly-Bugly. Yeah. This is a horror film.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Yeah. You know, in this episode, we're going to deal with Stalin's Great Terror, with the Goulags, with the assassination of Trotsky, and then the two genders will meet. Yeah. Yeah?
Starting point is 00:01:43 When two become one. The rutting stags. Never have two stags rutted harder than... There's a Nazi Soviet pact. My God. It doesn't get bigger than this. Yeah. This is a juicy steak.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Yeah. Okay. Enjoy it because as sure as water turns to snow, there will be a woman on at some point. Right. Which means it's unlocked, yeah. It might not happen. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:08 I don't know. All right. I'm excited. Yeah. And can you blame me. No, I can't blame you. Can you blame you? right.
Starting point is 00:02:14 There's a lot of good stuff. So we're in the... I love that it's called the Great Terror and we've just had one of the worst famines in history and then we've moved on
Starting point is 00:02:22 to the next chapter which is the Great Terror. Yeah. Sort of undermines what's just happened. Yeah. It should be called you think that was bad.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Yeah. Basically, it's always great about Russian history. It's just each chapter is like, hold my beer. Hold my beer.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Hold on my beer. Holomodore. Hold on my beer. Hologda on my beer. We had the Holog of more and now we had the whole lot of my beer. You thought that was bad. By the mid-30s, Stalin, you know, he, this is like, Burnham in four years time.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Yeah. The change has been foundational. Okay. Pret is dissolved. Yeah. No more prets. Everything's Greggs. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:00 You go to the Waldorf, it's Greggs. Yeah. Claridge is Greggs. Number 10 north is, you know, like specter, it's tentacles are everywhere. Yeah. Yeah. You go stay at the Ritz first. Just a big Gregs.
Starting point is 00:03:12 You forgot what food that isn't Greg's. tastes like. Forced collectivization. The Holodomor has devastated the Ukrainian countryside as well as the Holodomu, okay? 11 million cows. 11 million cows are gone, yeah? And they're not even being made into beef.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Have you seen how much beef is in a cow? You get those videos? No. We have very different algorithms. I get Welsh butchers showing me how much. I basically am tempted, much as in the way that I subscribe to olive oil, I'm often tempted.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Beef subscription? No. if I have the I am already married, thank you if I have If I have If I had the freezer space You buy a whole cow at once
Starting point is 00:03:53 Right The amount of beef You get a cow You're already on the road to that You buy wholesale right Yeah You buy big cuts of meat Yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:04:02 My freezer space Is taking up with a lot of kids food like turkey dinosaurs And potato waffles Right So what you want Is an actual cold room And a hanging carcass
Starting point is 00:04:12 Yeah That's the dream. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you start building the fucking eagle's nest. When I start building Burtas garden in the home counties, which is the end point of this podcast. Yeah, of course. Where I can look out across the Kent Downs from the Eagles Nest.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Yeah. I will have a cold room and people will come around and I'll open the door and I'll show them in it and they'll be slightly menacing. I'll be like, you know, you get the wrong side of me. I'll hang you up in my cold room and I'll eat you like a cow. But if you're on my right side, what flank of beef do you like? What would you like? Do you like a salon today or a riby?
Starting point is 00:04:41 I've got everything. I've got an entire cow in here. The amount of beef... How long does the cow keep in a cold room? I think it's just... If it's cold, it's fine. Yeah, I mean, how long is stuff keeping the freezer? It's the freezer.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Forever. I think it's forever, isn't it? Really? Yeah, you're not going to get ill. It's just going to taste like dust. It's just going to get a bit chewy, isn't it? Okay, but there's quality difference for beef. I'm sure some chef nonts listening will be like...
Starting point is 00:05:04 A peterfarl. Yeah, I'm sure a pedophile would complain. Yeah. Because the bacteria in there fucked. Are they dead? Do they leave? They're fucked up. Yeah, they're frozen. So they're kind of waiting.
Starting point is 00:05:18 I think they're waiting. Bacteria are kind of immortal. You can get a crow chamber of bacteria. It did say about four weeks. Four weeks? No, indefinitely. Did it say that? Food stored continuously, safe to eat indefinitely,
Starting point is 00:05:29 although quality and flavour declined after a few months. Yeah, okay. Okay, that's good. So you've got about four to 12 months for quality of raw meat. So now you're inviting people who don't even like over, just to try and finish this fucking cow. No, I'm not. I'm just muck-banging it myself.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Next grill again for dinner while I look out over the Kent Downs from the nest. Yeah. With my massive fireplace. Yeah. There was a gift from Mussolini. Anyway, let's get back to Stalin part three. He has transformed Soviet society. That's fair to say.
Starting point is 00:05:59 And he's been reading about Ivan the Terrible. Which, yeah. Yeah, I guess this is one of the few red flags that start to appear for Stalin. Well, he's a Soviet. I mean, there's a lot of red flags. because it's communism. Right. They're fucking everywhere.
Starting point is 00:06:13 And that's what makes it confusing. Yes. To know what's a red flag. That's why he managed to get away with so much. What is a red flag when there are red flags on every lamp post. Yeah. So he reads about Ivan the Terrible, but maybe he starts to draw the wrong lessons from him.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Yes, from the terrible. As he puts it, death is the solution to all problems. Yeah, so he thought it was Ivan the brilliant, which is a different reading. No man, no problem. It's his cover version of No Woman, no cry. No man, no problem. Yeah, he starts to get these lessons from Ivan the Terrible. You know, I mean, if you're into Russian history
Starting point is 00:06:45 and then you're acting on it, it's bad. Right, right. So, now there's a bloke called Kirov, who is his mate, I think, who's a loyal supporter, and he's becoming one of the most popular figures in the Communist Party. Yeah, you can't be liked.
Starting point is 00:07:00 No. You can't be liked around the office. You've got such a needle, you've got a thread. Yeah. Because you can't be too crap. No. And you can't be disliked. You just kind of got to be,
Starting point is 00:07:09 it is sort of like the traitors where the people who go under the radar the ones who win. It is. This is celebrity traitors. You've got to come out of the woodwork, episode seven, episode eight is when you do the explosive stuff. Yeah. But you've got to be just blending in.
Starting point is 00:07:23 And the thing is, the problem that people that go on the traitors, they are, you know, this is the most exciting thing that will ever happen to them. Yeah. And so they're trying to use it to build a platform that they can put out a shit web series afterwards, right? Reviewing cars or whatever. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:35 So the problem is they get too giddy and excited about the platform they have, when really they need to bide their time. By their time. And also, you know, if you've got a deformity, you're out, the vote for you first. I remember Traitors, one of the first Trader's seasons. Aubrey was the first guy who was this old guy who said that he was amazing at reading people
Starting point is 00:07:54 and he kept telling everyone, I'm brilliant. And he had a really big trillby on. Yeah, he was the oldest guy there. And everyone was like, we have nothing to go off. What about that guy? Keep saying he's amazing at reading people. Yeah, we've done such a big, big read. And immediately was out.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Didn't even get a chance. Yeah, idiot. That's not how you play the power game. In Stalin's Russia, he's dead. He's dead immediately. He'll be saying, I'm a master of reading people. We'll kill you then.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Fucking off. He says he's a master of reading people. He's clearly not. In October 1934, there is a disgruntled communist called Leonid Nikolaev. He walks into the building where Kirov works,
Starting point is 00:08:28 but luckily security guards have stopped him before he reaches Kirov and they find a gun. And Nikolive is questioned, but then released. And they give his pistol back to him. Okay. Weird.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Yeah. Six weeks later, he comes back to the office and shoots Kirov in the back of the neck. Okay. So the police were like, now don't do that again. Yeah, yeah. And then they load it. They take the safety off. Don't do that again.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Yeah. He works up there. Don't do that again. When he comes back, what have you done? Yeah. What did we tell you? We told him. Fucking hell.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Some people. Yeah. So the murder becomes, again, a great turning point, they say. There's a lot of turning points. There's a lot of turning points. He sort of turned back on himself. He should be nice. now if it's a turning point he should be really nice yeah it's actually consistent the
Starting point is 00:09:12 problem is he doesn't turn it's just well he's he's turning he's turning 360 every time then just carrying on going forward um Nikolive is arrested interrogated placed on trial and is then convicted and executed by firing squad the same day yeah now that is an efficient judge same day judicial system you know think about all the inquiries in liberal democracy britain it well yeah they take years and years even the the man city charges that that's going to how long is that take, how long does that take? No, I'm suspicious of you, I'm going to kill all of you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:41 In the same day. Confession, executed, done. Former political rivals start being accused of organizing Kirov's assassination and because Stalin is turning it into a conspiracy, right? And so he's becoming more and more paranoid, yeah, because he's, he's spoken to a hook. He's spoken to no man, no problem. No man, no problem.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Oh man, not problem. Right. Really pranging me out. It's a strong stuff. Yeah? Super skunk. And then he's looking at all the red flags, being like, fucking out.
Starting point is 00:10:09 This all clicks. It's all connected. Yeah. So. But the whole, the thing is he also has a bit of insecurity about his role in the revolution because he wasn't that involved. So the big problem is obviously Trotsky was much more involved. But also any of the old Bolsheviks who are the ones.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Sorry. Old Bolsheviks have the most respect of power because they've been there from the start. So they're as biggest threats. And he's just killing anyone who's been there for a while. Well, he's starting to. Yeah. So, because Trotsky's in Mexico, shacked up with the even more insufferable for Hidalo,
Starting point is 00:10:45 and he's publishing, you know, I mean, he's defaming Stalin's what he's doing. Right, okay. Yeah, he's basically publishing, he's like tweeting him. You know, there are people who just won't stop tweeting one person. It's sort of Graham Linnahing in it from Mexico. Yeah, okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:57 So Stalin's feeling a bit under pressure, and you're right, he has his intellectual insecurity about the revolution because he's not one of the big brains of it. Trotsky's the only one who has a righteous way to retell event because he was there. Yeah, exactly. And also has the only kind of authority. Yeah, authority as well.
Starting point is 00:11:11 So what he does is he takes, now, Zinov and Kamenev, who were two of the huge Leninist loyalists from the revolution. And they both helped on defeat Trotsky in the 20s. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:23 But they then turn against him because of all the grain stuff and the whole lot of my beer. Yeah. So they were part of the Troika, which was the three-person leadership straight after Lenin. So Kamenev and other prisoners are taken to the Kremlin confronted by Stalin.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Stalin says their guilt has been established. They don't need, they have no like comeback, right? He says, you either confess publicly and your families are spared or you don't, and they all die. They agreed, right? Foreign journalists are invited to watch and these are where we get the show trials. Show trials, for some reason, it's too close to show tunes and stuff. It feels musical theatre.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Show trial. Yeah, for some reason, when I think show trial, I think it's got like, it's like a lawyer, you know, he's guilty, your honour. Guilty, guilty, yeah. So they all confess that all these heroes of the revolution. So this is only what, 15 years on or something, they confess to plotting assassinations,
Starting point is 00:12:21 so sabotaging the Soviet economy, conspiring foreign powers, attempting to restore capitalism, etc. And the public are kind of convinced by it. Stalin himself is up at night writing slogans and like actual confessions. The left is a unique ability to eat itself because you can always claim someone working for another team.
Starting point is 00:12:38 In a way, the right doesn't really do in the same way. No. You don't really have, you're not actually a racist. Yeah. Racists are actually very welcoming. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:46 To other racists. That's the great irony. Yeah. Is it the left are more intolerant? No, he's pretending he's a racist. He's not. No one's saying that. No one's saying.
Starting point is 00:12:53 I trust your racism. Yeah. You know? I think we'll get on. Yeah. You know? We may be different, but we're both racist.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Yeah. Whereas the left are like, no, I'm more anti-racist than you. You're actually a bit racist. Yes, exactly. Yeah. So. You're saying not racist, but you're thinking racist stuff.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Yeah, we're all thinking it. Microracist. We're all thinking it. We're all thinking it. It's about whether you say it or not, all right? Or you say it too. Yeah, exactly. Are you using WhatsApp or are you using Facebook?
Starting point is 00:13:21 Are you using Facebook? Are you closed? Are the windows closed? There's different levels. Is it, is it WhatsApp or is it Facebook Marketplace? Yeah. My book is out now. Reminder.
Starting point is 00:13:33 This is still out now. And not only that. It's a Sunday. Bestseller. Number two. Number two. The Wi-Fi password for a name. Yeah, I was gutting.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Fat cump with the Wi-Fi parcel for a name. Talking about, I don't know what he's talking about. I don't know. How's, like a myth, like health myths? DeBahs. Some bologues. Anyway. But you ate Gillian Ansel for breakfast.
Starting point is 00:13:52 I ate Julianne and I would eat Julian Ansel for breakfast. I will still like to do that. Gillian, if you're listening. Yeah. Ideal breakfast. Let's put the books down. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Stop fighting. Stop fighting. What's really going on? Come over. It was number one Saturday Times bestseller, which I didn't realize was a thing until my publisher sent me that and I was like,
Starting point is 00:14:07 I never heard of that before and he went yeah, no one really cares. Right. It's still available. And you know, with the gift, the Christmas season coming up,
Starting point is 00:14:13 what am I going to get my dad? This book. Yeah. Yeah. It's a great Christmas gift. It's a great, a great stocking filler. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:20 You don't know what to get a bloke hard to buy for. If he wants something, he'll buy himself. Introduce him. Introduce him. Introduce him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:28 To a new world of ideas. To the esteemed racist work of Finn Taylor has drawn. My words. My words. My words. Who's eating in the history section? Who's eating my dust?
Starting point is 00:14:40 Lucy Worsley. Oh, fuck. See you later, love. See you. Get in the bin, Lucy. Get in the bin, love. Yeah, that's where you belong. Messrs Holland and Sandbrook.
Starting point is 00:14:49 Get to fuck me. Oh, shit. Yeah, yeah, they ate my dust. Yeah, fucking punch. Number 10 on the list, who fucking cares? Buy the book. It's out now. Unlock unlimited free grocery delivery with PC Express Pass.

So this is, but this is probably like, this is, to what my point earlier,
Starting point is 00:15:47 this is the foundational left eating itself moment, isn't it? This is kind of the archetype. This is the main time that the left implodes. But there's a lot of communism in the 20th century, and it's because this is the first time it's been tried, this sets the tone for how it happens almost every other place. Yes. Paul Pot, communist China it has very similar but this is the first time to do it really But then people would say
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yeah but then people People would say This is inevitable When these ideas come into contact with the reality Right That's what people would argue Who's people? You?
Starting point is 00:16:19 Yeah that's what I would say Yeah Me and Jermaloxon That's what we'd say We're writing a Times op-ed Yeah So just on your iPad In your pants
Starting point is 00:16:26 You're glasses like that Yeah Andy Berdom is a communist He's gonna eliminate the preck class. We got to be going to kill Caleb and everything's going to be Gregs. You're going to stay at five sides of it.
Starting point is 00:16:38 It's just Gregs. That's what I'm going to be. Don't read it through once. Send it off. Send it off. Publish it. I'll take the money. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:42 And then I'll go and fucking kill a cow or something. Now, so in just a few years, Stalin basically kills everyone from the October Revolution. Yeah. So he is the remaining guy from the revolution. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Apart from Trotsky, who's still in Mexico. Yeah. Right. So this purge. Now, is it the first, is it the first kind of political purge almost? Certainly the great purges.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Well, I mean, he's inspired by the Ivan the terrible who did it to the boyars. If you remember the kind of elite class of the aristocracy, he purged them. Yeah. I guess in a modern sense, potentially. But I guess, you know, purging. But Hitler did like, night. But that was after this night. The long lives.
Starting point is 00:17:20 It was about the same time, actually. 34. So they're both, you know, purging. They're peas in a pod. Perjers in a pod. Purge is in a pod. Perj is in a pod. Right?
Starting point is 00:17:27 Hitler and Sardin. Parallel lives. Yeah. Peas and a purge. Now, but in terms of like purging nowadays These days, these days It's fucking wankers having something shoved at their ass And you know
Starting point is 00:17:41 Hold up, what? What do you mean? Oh, you mean like a full... Fucking flavour flavour over here. Right. Hold on, hold up. Run that shit back. Oh, you mean like a full body purge.
Starting point is 00:17:53 It's throwing up. It's getting something to shove up your ass and flushing your guts out. You know, this is a purge. Phoebe says a purge is throwing up because of an eating disorder at these things. days. Yeah. And there wasn't eating disorders. But that's her extremism once again. It takes of the script. State eating disorders. State eating disorders.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Women made famines. Thank you for you. Okay. What is it, Charlie? Are you tempted by a juice purge? Say that again? Are you tempted by a juice purge? What the one Hitler did? Lovely stuff. Come on. Lovely bit of business. What else do you want? Yeah. Smoothies. Did you get what I said? Juice purge, yeah. Yeah, right. Perj of the juice.
Starting point is 00:18:31 You just kept, just said smoothies like nothing in that happened. Anyway, so this purge bleeds into the Great Terror. Right. Okay. This is the Holodomar bear. Yeah. This is what I mean, though. These names sort of, they blend into each other.
Starting point is 00:18:45 It's sort of the whole thing's the great. Do you know, the awful famine blends into the evil purge that goes to the Great Terror. It doesn't really. It doesn't really mean anything. So just, again, let's just, if you're Russian, okay, and you're born, let's say, 1910. Oh, I mean, insane life. Revolution. Holodoma.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Holodomor. Yeah. Holodomavir. If you're Ukrainian. Great. Oh my God. Then you get, um, no, if you're, 90s, World War I, Revolution, all of that. The whole of communism, um, uh, fucking Chernobyl. And then the fall of the communist, you'll die as communism's falling and all that shit
Starting point is 00:19:19 happened there. Kind of insane. Amazing. And if you make it to 9-11 as well. Yeah. If you move to New York for 9-11, perfect life. Perfect life. Four marks.
Starting point is 00:19:28 And you die in 9-11. Yeah. Yeah. But you have to die in. the, um, in the impact zone. What's this? The oldest, reporter person in Romanian,
Starting point is 00:19:40 Romanian history. Ukrainian. Ukrainian. So she lived through it all. Wow. She's just died. In the Chernobyl mini series, there was that old babushka who wouldn't,
Starting point is 00:19:51 she's milking a cow. Oh, sorry. In that, you know that fucking old babushka. You know what I mean. Like that out. I'm like, mate, we're podcasting. You can put my bushka.
Starting point is 00:20:02 We're podcasting. Can you fucking. Keep your ablutions to yourself. We must say Ethel Gatorum has not lived as a, she's had a privileged life compared to the Ukrainians. Well, when was she born? She's just turned 117. She's done World War II, I guess.
Starting point is 00:20:15 The Blitz and stuff. 909. 909. Shipton Bellinger. Born Shepton Bellinger. She's born in, she wasn't called Chippedon Bellinger. Oh, right, I see. But it's a good name, Shepton Belanger.
Starting point is 00:20:24 That's a sturdy woman. Yeah. 1909, so she's sort, you know, the Titanic happened. World War I. Iron brew. Iron brew was invented. yeah she saw it all anyway so there's current Ukrainian people oldest Ukrainian
Starting point is 00:20:37 that Phoebe just got up who was born in 1917 yeah and now she's still alive so she's and they're living through now if they live it make it to now they must be like guys I've seen this before I know can you change the fucking record yeah yeah wow that is awesome
Starting point is 00:20:53 yeah let's just try let's try being happy for once can we try that one or does that to be miserable each time and they die I wonder what's next it's like the blue zone thing yeah in Ukraine From the Great Terror to the Super Awful to the really bad. Yeah, to the Oh my God, the Terror again.
Starting point is 00:21:10 This bleeds into the Great Terror, as you said. And so this is a campaign of mass arrests, executions, deportations, enemies of the state. This is, you know, Communism 101. Now, what's interesting about this period is he basically, the Great Terror, he runs it like the grain re-inquisition, where it's all like targets to be hit.
Starting point is 00:21:31 So he does the same. with murdering people as he did for grain. There's a sentence where he says maybe it's not him someone says find me the man
Starting point is 00:21:40 and I will find the crime yeah incredible because he's got his attack dog barrier who I think will get to on the patron we'll be discussing Berrier in full detail
Starting point is 00:21:48 but yeah he's the head of the NKVD which was the Checker which was the Akrana Beria is the mingler of this story really he's sort of like you know
Starting point is 00:21:56 he's gone on an alt direction but sort of you know focused that was his quote sorry that was his quote Show me the man and I'll find you the crime. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:04 He's also one, yeah, numbers-wise, maybe the biggest rapist of all time. Wow. Which is a big saying something. Wow. You know, and we've got to give Russell around his flowers for trying to reach those numbers.
Starting point is 00:22:15 There's a chance he did hit those. I mean, there's a chance he hit those numbers. Not chaggot the year, no chance. No, no. Berrier's rapist at the year. They're very different. Yeah. So Stalin issues massive numbers.
Starting point is 00:22:26 He says there are these huge quotas. Now, he, this, I enjoy, I enjoyed this. a lot. He would sit there. The kind of the montage of this. Yeah, it's great amazing. It's just him and his desk just basically ticking. People just giving him names. He's just ticking. And you see he wrote little things.
Starting point is 00:22:42 So he would write these names in front of them. And then he would write little like notes in the margins including. He writes deserves it. So he would, oh yeah, scum, prostitute deserves it. I love deserves it. Yeah. Because it's a bit gay as well. Deserves it.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Snake. See, that's what happens. Yeah. Yeah. deserves it. Come in the king, you best not miss. Is there any more satisfying
Starting point is 00:23:07 man sitting at desk than having a list of names you're killing and just going scum, prostitute? Also, you're ticking their, they're dead. You've killed them already. You've ticked their life off.
Starting point is 00:23:17 I like that's still adding insult to injury. You've already killed, you're already killing them in front of their family. That's how I go through job applications. Scum. Prostitute. Deserves it. Deserved the job.
Starting point is 00:23:26 That's how we got Phoebe, actually. Yeah, exactly. Scum prostitute. Scum across that. Crossed out, deserved it. No, give it the job. Give her the job. When we looked at the rest of the applications.
Starting point is 00:23:34 I saw the name went prostitute. I went, sorry, deserve the job, actually. Very good TV. Yeah, but also ticking someone to death. Yeah. That's communist, right? Yeah, it is. Yep.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Deserves that. He also enjoyed adding comments to photos of male news, which we discussed in the Russian Revolution series. I don't remember this. Yeah, there was, we'll maybe deal with the next part, but he goes through a period later on in his life of critiquing male news. nudes saying you need to work and not wank. Do you remember that? Yeah. But that's later, Stalin. I think we'll get to that later. I get to that next part. Anyway, so. That's when he's got no more like real enemies to fight. He's gone a bit mad at that point. He's gone a bit mad because
Starting point is 00:24:14 he doesn't know where to put his energy. So now he's putting it into male nudes. Exactly. I mean, what do you do after World War II? Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Anyway, so, uh, now you wanted to talk about this particular order. Well, I was looking at the purge because I couldn't work out. When I think of the Great Terror, it's quite hard to conceptualize because I know he got rid of his political opponents. But that's like, what, max 200, 300 people? I think it's 180.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Do you know what I mean? So 750,000 people died. So I was wondering where the vast majority those executions were. Apparently, almost half of them came from one order, which was the NKVD order number 0-047, literally Star Wars shit.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Yeah. And I think it was, I mean, once again, quite similar to the Ukraine family where it was just former Kulax and not, it was just, you know, anyone. It's just Phil, Phil, kill, get 350,000 people and kill them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Just make up a reason why, basically. But there was all on one, one order. So half the people, so half the total of people who died in the Great Terror are from one order assigned on the 30th of July 1937. Yeah. 400,000 executions. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, back of the head.
Starting point is 00:25:30 It's like a work from home sort of stuff. Back of the head. Where would they do it? Just where would be a normal place they'd do it. There'd be like secret trials where they just go, how do you plead innocent? Well, we think you're guilty. Bang.
Starting point is 00:25:41 It's bang, basically. They're in basements. Mandated method with death by shooting. Yeah, it's just shot in the back of the head. A lot of bullet. Okay, there's like a shooting range near Moscow. Okay, secrecy and burial. Execution were carried out in strict secrecy.
Starting point is 00:25:57 So it wouldn't be out in the street. prisons, regional headquarters or secluded suburban fire ages such as the Botevot shooting range. Can we go on there? There's a lot of bullets. But how are they got so many bullets? Because Stalin has got the economy moving. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:12 He really has. So it's, you know... He's eating fibre. He's eating fibre. And they're eating bullets. You know? Get the economy moving. You can do anything. Yeah. Right. Can you shoot someone with a cabbage? Yes, you can. Obviously, you just put
Starting point is 00:26:26 a cabbage in a cannon, Charlie. Cabbage ball. Hold up and it can cause severe injury or even death, depending on the velocity. While it sounds like a joke, firing a dense, heavy vegetable like a capuchat of a compressed air cannon, transforms it into a dangerous projectile. Well, thank you, AI. Yes, we may be joking, but there's serious, the serious damage that can be done. This is why the Ukrainians have held out so long against the Russians.
Starting point is 00:26:49 It is. They're firing cabbages at drones. That's what I understand is the current conflict is... The cabbage derby. Impact. In tests conducted by shows like Mythbusters, cabbage is fired from a pneumatic cannon carry enough force to shatter targets
Starting point is 00:27:00 and punch through solid structures. If a two bound cabbage strikes a human being at high speeds it acts as a blunt force object. Well, there you go. Facial trauma if it hits the head. Imagine dying from a cabbage to the head. You couldn't, I would say you wouldn't live with yourself, but obviously you'd do.
Starting point is 00:27:15 But my God. Yeah, human being. I really hope I don't die that way. Give me the ick. Yeah. I mean, at the funeral, you just be laughing. Yeah. You know?
Starting point is 00:27:26 This is what we were laughing. Charlie recently went skydiving and we were worried. What were you thinking about when, about you if you died? Obviously it would be devastating and it would be, you know, personally quite, be quite emotional, of course, but it also,
Starting point is 00:27:44 it also, it's like, I don't know how long before we'd joke about it. I don't know if, like it's obviously so shocking. I'll be so upset. I don't trust myself. But if you jumped out of plane and just splurbed, Brazilian Dignitas stuff. It's like, like what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:28:00 What comes first to laugh for the cry? I really don't know. I don't trust myself. Genuinely. Before I started crying, I go, of course he did. Of course he did. Don't have a plane with no one attached to? I go for fucks.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Yeah. Yeah. We died how he lived, didn't he? Yeah. Throwing poo into the toilet. He threw himself out of play. Instructor. Wait.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Oh, fuck. That's what. Skydiving instructor. you're not chain onto the fuck gonna lose my license fucking idiot wait
Starting point is 00:28:35 Finn I show you have you seen this video you've seen the video no I've seen the photos of you it gets the mouth open like a fucking fish the whole time yeah have you noticed
Starting point is 00:28:49 that he's strapped to Beethoven's brother you noticed that look at his smog face the guy's skylighting is looking at the camera like look at that You would be a bit smug, though. Yeah, and Charlie's absolutely losing his mind. And bait over his brother's just like...
Starting point is 00:29:04 You look like a turtle. You look a tortoise. What are you thinking? It's like a tortoise. It's like a tortoise spotting a lettuce. What does it feel like, Charlie? It feels like you are about to die. It feels like you're plummeting to... I think your body thinks you're about to die.
Starting point is 00:29:17 Look at my fucking face, is it? Not looking at the ground? Yeah. Hating it. Yeah, to be honest, for the first... I'm screaming Look at that screaming
Starting point is 00:29:29 Where are you doing this In the fence In the fence In the fence Fats part of the UK Dying in the Farrant I don't want to die in the fence Anyway
Starting point is 00:29:35 Fucking hell I don't think I'd do that Yeah Right Anyway So Yeah basically the pressure To meet all these targets
Starting point is 00:29:46 They're just random Limits They was called Basically means that Tortures encouraged Accusations It's a complete complete blood bath.
Starting point is 00:29:58 When people are uncooperative, Stalin just says squeeze them until they talk. I don't think that's literally squeeze. I think it's probably more brutal than that. Yes. It depends whether they're squeezing. Children are encouraged to think of themselves as Stalin's children first and then their parents' children second.
Starting point is 00:30:14 There's Mao as well. This is the communist thing. You destroy the race between the parent and the child. It's all powerful. Exactly. Get the children to tell on their parents. Yeah. So a lot of people are sent to the gulag, which is essentially, we deal with this slightly
Starting point is 00:30:31 in the last episode. It's like the, it's prison labor. A productive concentration camp. Yes, exactly. Berrier holds these, Stalin says to bear it at one point, who's going to remember all this riffraff in 10 or 20 years time? No one. Well, they don't know that we, they had no idea that we'd be doing an episode about them.
Starting point is 00:30:46 But they were right. What do you mean? I don't remember, I don't know where any of their names are. Right, fair enough. Stalin, yeah. Barrier, yeah. You know them. We're not doing a patron episode
Starting point is 00:30:56 and maybe we've got squeezed. Exactly. Some people are forgotten because they're meant to be. My words, thousands of names bear his initials and ticks. Deserves it.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Deserved prostitute. Scum. Scum. Scum. So, crucially, he also sends a lot of the high-ranking military to the Gulag. So 80%
Starting point is 00:31:23 of the highest ranking generals and commanders are removed, executed. That's so many. 35,000 red army officers removed. Yeah. So this is all just before World War II as well. Bear in mind, yeah, in the sort of late 30s, everyone is re-arming. Germany under Hitler has an army of about three and a half million men, right? Britain has like a tiny army.
Starting point is 00:31:42 The US have less than 200,000, right? Stalin has a huge army, but takes out all his own high command. Yeah. Right. A lot of them gets sent to the gulag, rather than, you know, than killed, which is important for later, but many of them do just get executed. Now, the gulags were actually Lenin's idea. Give him his flowers.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Those are Lenin's idea. He's not all bad. No, he was a good guy. He could have fun when it mattered. Yeah. Right. But Stalin expands it. And prisoners are expected to work to make the camp economically useful.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Yeah. Yeah, their output would depend how much food would determine the food they get. slave labor, industrial development, etc. I feel like we, I mean, the camp's become quite full after terror. And prisoners refer to it as dry execution. Death through hunger, cold, relentless physical labour. What's wet execution then? When your brains are splattered everywhere, maybe?
Starting point is 00:32:38 Yeah, I guess so. Drowning. Yeah. It's like, yeah, dry food versus wet food for dogs. Yeah. Yeah. Kibble. Wet food's better for dogs, right?
Starting point is 00:32:47 It's classier. But it's gross. It's expensive and it's gross. Yeah. And it makes the kitchen honk of tribe. Are you doing wet food? We put a bit of wet food in with the kibble just to help her get the kibble.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Okay. She won't go for kibble. Fussy? I'm talking about the dog, right, rather than... She's fussy about the kibble. Yeah. Yeah. So she's more discerning than Charlie's.
Starting point is 00:33:05 She... My dog, yeah. My dog actually does have more. Yeah, does have a higher discerning. Well, her loss. Her loss. Yeah. Get competitive with the dog.
Starting point is 00:33:16 I'd love to see... Slagin the dog off. I'd love to see the two of you go. out for a meal and there's two bowls on the floor and you're both just you're gonna eat that? You're gonna finish that? You can finish that kibble?
Starting point is 00:33:27 She quite often leaves a bit of kibble around the bowl because she's eating all the wet food. I don't know what kibble is. You'd like it. It's like dry food. Sort of biscuits. I like meaty biscuits. Crackers.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Yeah. Yeah, if you like. You'll be on the floor face down. This is fucked. This is fucked. Who made this? Fuck me. Awesome in the air.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Awesome in the air. Yeah. Facing the bowl. so they think 2.7 million people died in the gulag however dying prisoners are like this they were released shortly before death so that they didn't die in the gulag doesn't count go over there but it doesn't count there's not a gulag death no it's not it's not in the gulag yeah yeah you fucking died in natural causes you left and you died which means you should
Starting point is 00:34:09 have stayed so don't leave yeah who's that for her who's that who's that for Stalin's enjoying that. What do you mean? Is that as a joke or is that for the papers? What? It's for papers. No, isn't,
Starting point is 00:34:22 is it that so that we don't think that he killed as many people? Yes. But who's that for at the time? Who's, what's the question? Why does he care? He's angry. He's angry.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Yeah. Come on. Smacking his head. Why does he care? It's about perception, isn't it? By who? Well, the rest of the world. Is anyone there?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Is anyone there? But Daily Mail? gate what's going well there's other equivalence of the daily mail really the reporters are at the gulag she's been like what the fuck is going on communism is all about numbers it's all about targets so
Starting point is 00:34:54 fudging the numbers and targets is important for the way that you sell and propagandise the regime who's checking who cares I think it's just general discrepancies you just you don't want a foreign journalist finding out it's quite hard to do his your podcast when you're just going yeah but who
Starting point is 00:35:15 care who fucking cares quite a lot of people yeah no I care a lot of people care well you care then I care about this question well then it's to stop you finding out then yeah yeah well I know now it's all for you everything it didn't work it didn't work everything everything everything was for you um now
Starting point is 00:35:31 Stalin has a huge cult of personality right uh he presents himself as Lenin's successor and then gradually Photoshop's Lenin out of the picture um so there's lots of photographs showing Lenin Stalin having a good time together Yes. Which is a kind of doctored.
Starting point is 00:35:46 It's early Photoshop stuff. Yeah. Yes. Early AI stuff. Yeah. From 1935, nurseries display the slogan, Thank you, dear Comrade Stalin for a happy childhood. And that's like when we had,
Starting point is 00:35:58 thank you, dear comrade Stama for a happy church. We have the same thing in London that's recently just gone. So they have, during a speech, he has an 11 minute standing ovation because people are terrified to be the first person to stop clapping. It's like Cannes. Yeah. Yeah, it is like a crap film at Cannes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Any film it can. Bollocks. Everyone's clapping. Yeah. Yeah. So let's get to my favorite bit of the story. Stalin tying up the loose end of that wanker in Mexico. The ultimate loose end. The ultimate Leon Trotsky.

Starting point is 00:37:49 what I like about this as well is that he's writing loads of stuff condemning it he's sending it's like British publication stuff none of it's allowed in the Soviet Union but Stalin's reading all of it and it's hurting his feelings he's getting pissed off no man no problem
Starting point is 00:38:04 let's hunt Trotsky down so he's obsessed he becomes obsessed with Trotsky's writings even though you're right he's the only person reading it yeah so he's like you what you fucking over here and say that.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Come over fucking in and say that. So, now, there's a, Trotsky basically is also quite paranoid, but with good reason. Yeah. So he builds himself,
Starting point is 00:38:25 he builds himself, essentially bin Laden's a butter bad compound in Mexico. Yeah. Right. He's living with, a burrito bad. A burrito bad. Bad burrito.
Starting point is 00:38:38 He's on the toilet, right. Trotsky's had a bad burrito, stuck on the toilet. So, The NKVD are trying to penetrate Trotsky's inner circle. The Trotsky knows Stalin's out for him. So he would always hide behind the seats in cars and stuff in Mexico. He settles in the Koyakan neighborhood of Mexico City,
Starting point is 00:38:55 a little suburb outside. Now, he's not with Frida Carlo, but he's hobnobing about with her. Yeah. Frida Carlo, our male listeners won't know, but she's that annoying woman with a monobrow who's on all this kitsch stuff your girlfriend, lives.
Starting point is 00:39:05 It feels like they're part of a polychule almost. It's just an artistic sort of everyone can rummage around in each other if they're so please. What did Frida Carlo do, apart from having a monorbrow? because I'm still bewildered. She did self-portraits about female health and what it means for a woman's body to change, I believe, or something like that.
Starting point is 00:39:25 There's a lot of stuff about periods. What's actually? Yeah, I think she used to do self-portraits in ways that hadn't been done before. It was actually. And she was incredibly ill. She had polio and survived a bus crash. Because that's what I say is a joke. And her body deteriorated and she like did portraits of her own show in a woman's
Starting point is 00:39:43 body injured. That's just funny that I was like, I don't know, some fucking woman with the monobrow just draws her periods and it does actually
Starting point is 00:39:49 I was spot on. Spot on. Once again, never miss. Taylor's laser guided focus bangs again. Well, there you go.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Fine. Anyway. Her and Trotsky are banging on about fucking other. Are they banging each other? I mean, they're chatting a lot
Starting point is 00:40:05 more than they're fucking I think, but I think they fucked a little bit. They did fuck. Did they? How are you just can just tell? Fuck it out. Charlie finally having
Starting point is 00:40:12 any, hasn't said anything. Is there a more punchable wedding? Is it going on a double date with Trotsky and Frida Carlo? This is my reaction. You got two fists. That's what the double punches made for.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Left, right. Fucking hell. Tap ass with Trotsky and Carlo. Kill me. But then again, every double date I'll go on like that. Do you still go on them? Hey?
Starting point is 00:40:36 She still going on double days? Yeah. You have to. You're a couple. If you're a couple. You're married. Husband and wife. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Yeah, of course. Yeah. They're not swingers. no I'm not swinging you're not double dating as in like couple friends yeah it's called a double date what'd you guys do
Starting point is 00:40:50 you go out for dinner crispy cream don't go to crispy cream any people have similar lives so you can't if you're a couple you can't just keep going out with single people
Starting point is 00:40:57 because you know you're living in it for life because you're fucking flicking your shit at the walls you're you know yeah exactly you're working a gulag in south London
Starting point is 00:41:05 yeah you're going to fucking you know ambient music listening parties underneath railway stations couples can't do that I can't do that I've got a mortgage and two kids
Starting point is 00:41:14 yeah we can find a middle ground. Well, yeah, it would be our ground. It would be having dinner like us, like an all person. So it's quite hurt by that. Digging a fucking trench in Patagonia. Right. Anyway, so Trotsky and Carlo, right, insufferable squared.
Starting point is 00:41:29 They're wanging about Mexico. And now, there's an initial assassination attempt where 20 armed men enter a burrito bad, those compounds. Disguised of Mexican soldiers, big mustache, sombreros. Hey, Capron! They've got nacho hats
Starting point is 00:41:45 They got Dorito in here They're doing the Natchez They're difficult Got Jesus And Trotsky's like Well they're Mexicans Of course I mean It's an authentic dress
Starting point is 00:41:55 That's authentic Mexicans You know You'll explore the culture They got Doritos They're fucking sombrero They then gun him They fire 200 bullets at the house But Trotskin and his wife
Starting point is 00:42:05 Hide underneath their bed I don't understand how they escape I think one of his grandkids dies or gets hit Anyway they both survive Stalin, livid. Absolutely livid. So they then go to a guy
Starting point is 00:42:17 called Ramon Mercada, who's a Spanish communist who gets recruited by Soviet intelligence. And he's a Stalinist who is unknown to Trotsky, crucially. So he starts to hang out with, is it Trotsky's misses? He starts to become friends with his misses.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Soft underbelly. The soft underbelly. Interestingly, I said that about Amanda the other day. She was your soft underbelly. Yeah, she didn't go that. she didn't get the reference so it did not go down well at all and i was like no no like churchill in italy and forty fuck yeah i fucked it i've got to i've got to realize i can't talk like i do here at home that's what's what works for i know manders the soft underbelly
Starting point is 00:42:59 what oh fuck no you do the reading anyway um so uh yeah sylvia agelov who's a trotskist uh so maced maced maced macaida russer juices her. Anyway, so he chats to the guards, hands out cigarettes, doesn't immediately want to see Trotsky. And then eventually becomes part of the furniture.
Starting point is 00:43:22 So this is after like weeks, is it? Then he takes Trotsky's wife shopping, takes his grandson out of the compound, drops his grandkids off at the pool. And then... Too much information. Then...
Starting point is 00:43:34 I don't need to hear all this personal stuff. Then one day, what day is it? It's in 1940, I think. 20th August, 1940. He arrived at Trotsky's house, wearing a suspiciously warm coat for the summer. Yeah, and also there's a lack of nachos in a sombrero. Something's not right here.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Is this guy really Mexican? Where are the cool original Doritos in your sombrero? Yeah. Why is he not followed by a mariachi band signaling that a Mexican character has just arrived on the scene? You know? It's like in sharp when a Spanish rule comes on.
Starting point is 00:44:05 And there's, d-l-l-l-l-l-l-ling. Well, I know you're Spanish now because there's a Spanish guitar. But you don't have any nachos or, cheese in your eyes. Something's just not adding up again, it's a red flag that Trotsky misses. Yes. Because it's blended
Starting point is 00:44:19 with all the other red flags in his room. He's a communist. He's a fucking communist, right? So he goes and says, I've written something I'd like Trotsky to look at. So he goes into his study and then they were left alone and then Trotsky starts wanging on about some bullets on his desk and then
Starting point is 00:44:35 Maccada. I don't know how you say his name. Is it Mercedes or Maccada? Anyway, Maccada basically reveals an ice axe, not a pick. It's an ice axe before anyone humachial, he's me. And he smashes it into the back of Trotsky's head,
Starting point is 00:44:51 which must have felt so satisfying. And this is kind of, it's, you know, it's Anne Whittakerum stuff. Yeah. I mean, it is the long road to... He gets Whittickhamed. He gets Whittickham, or rather, Wittakeran gets Trotsky.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Which is funny, because they're both very different politicians. Well, exactly. It's the horseshoe theory. It doesn't matter if you're left or right. some guy can hit you over the head at the end of it
Starting point is 00:45:14 yeah if you're an annoying politician yeah if you're annoying you're gonna get hit over there doesn't you got nothing to do with policy
Starting point is 00:45:20 you know it's actually quite sort of centrist stuff really at the end of the day if you've got an annoying voice it's pretty like this
Starting point is 00:45:28 doesn't matter if you're on the right or the left oh fuck oh shut up fuck off shut up yeah um
Starting point is 00:45:37 shut up shut up Fuck, I'm just idiot. Prick. But, right, unlike Widdickum, Trotsky only gets one blow to the head. As opposed to 21. At close to 21.
Starting point is 00:45:50 Which is perhaps over-egging it. Yes. Anyway. Got to be sure, though. You have to be sure. Yeah, he had driven for a long journey. He's got to make the drive worth it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:02 So I think did it get lodged? I think he gets lodged in his head. Yeah. And then Trotsky, I mean, Maccardo later claims he'd never forget Trotsky's scream. That's it, is it? Horny. Ah.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Well, it depends what... Fuck. Bored. Is that bored? Is that you and your board? The one you just... The one you said was like a bored pawn star on the fifth take of the day.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Ah, fuck. Ah, fuck. Charlie, give me... You're a bored porn star. Give me a bored orgasm. Oh, fuck, I'm gonna come. Oh, my fucking God. Right, so it soundscape.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Hey, cabrude. Ah. I will never forget that scream. Uh-huh. It was kind of bored and poorly. Oh. And I forgot my national hat. Great Doritos advert, though.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Brilliant Doritos advert. Cool original. Probably more chili heat wave actually I reckon No, Widdickum's shitty heat wave It's got nothing to do With Mexico or Doritos
Starting point is 00:47:16 Just play the ad What's that Doritos? What's that Doritos? That's fucking weird It's just CCTV footage Rammandoam getting her head bashed in
Starting point is 00:47:25 And then just Doritos Chili Heat Whed This is quite an edgy podcast But for an ad That is spicy That's funny Even for me
Starting point is 00:47:32 I'm like I wouldn't sign that off I'd be like how All up for a laugh But that is I'd be like How is it? got to my desk.
Starting point is 00:47:40 How has it got to my desk? It feels like middle management really should have put us up to this. Sorry, you're advertising. I think of the episode of Mad Men, Don Draper. Yeah. What? Chili, he waved do you do.
Starting point is 00:47:51 What, you're just saying play. We hammer her head in 21 times. Yeah, that just says chili e wove. What? There could be a comb advert where it's like somebody, he's bashing her in the head with a comb. And then it's like, she's, she's on the floor.
Starting point is 00:48:08 but she's got a comb in her head and it's Anne with Decombe Oh, it's all for that I don't know I knew it was gonna be crap but I don't know which flavour of crap it was gonna be It's nearly always to rhyme
Starting point is 00:48:19 It's all for that Rubbish Rubbish Well unlike Anne Widdickam Trotsky fights back He remains conscious long enough He Rasputin's it He does
Starting point is 00:48:30 Ah Rasputin with a small knob Oh And then Macada's like, Cabranoi. And Trotsky says, don't kill you. This man has a story to tell.
Starting point is 00:48:47 So he's chatting? Yeah, he's chatting. He still won't shut up. He still won't fucking shut up. Right? At least Whitacom zipped it. Maccada cries out, they have my mother.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Right. Anyway, Trotsky gets taken to hospital and he dies the following day. Now, Maccada is sentenced to 20 years in a Mexican prison, but he never acknowledges that he acting on Stalin's behalf. And then when he's, when he is freed,
Starting point is 00:49:11 he gets the, like, hero of the Soviet Union medal. Yes, and also while he's in prison, Stalin makes sure that he's getting sucked off all the time and stuff like that. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, it's just a nice thing. He gets more comfortable chairs. He gets better food.
Starting point is 00:49:23 More flavors of Doritos. And then he's getting lots of women sent, Mexican women there to suck him off. Oh, that's nice. It's a touch of class from Stalin. A Mexican girlfriend who would visit. You're going to have to serve the time. Rogelia.
Starting point is 00:49:35 Now, Roger as a female name is... I don't know about that. Well, look. To be honest, we couldn't find any women who would suck you off if we had to do. I got Roger, put an A on the end. Rogelia.
Starting point is 00:49:45 Yeah, he's wearing a wig. Look at the ceiling. Pretend it's a woman. It's a prison. It's the best going to get, but yeah. Just eat some of the nachos out the top of his sombrero hat
Starting point is 00:49:53 as he's sucking you off. Is that what that hat's for? Oh, that's nice. Christ, they've really nailed it. Mexican blow jobs. Look at that. I mean, sensory. think about that 4D experience
Starting point is 00:50:05 like subway surf a video on top of a podcast clip you get sucked off and you're dipping next good but can you keep still please I'm trying you've got like a tray of dips you've got like a yogurt one and a spicy one
Starting point is 00:50:17 can you keep still spill in the salsia that's hedonistic that is hedonistic no that is too much come on that's not very just a camera vites no it's not
Starting point is 00:50:24 not very Stalinist oh boy yourself together um Christ there's still so much history to do now just before Trotsky meets his end there is probably the most significant event of the 30s
Starting point is 00:50:38 yeah definitely the Nazi Soviet pact now by 1939 friend of the pod Adolf Hitler had spent years denouncing Bolshev This is like the Thurneberg Netanyahu pact isn't it? Yes it is exactly It's the kind of it's the opposites right
Starting point is 00:50:54 yeah because everyone's head's just like what the fuck I thought Greta Bebe packed. What on earth? But you're opposites. Yeah. It's opposite day. Yeah. But what are they carving up? It was great. I just going to have a bit of Palestine. I don't know. Is that what the pact is?
Starting point is 00:51:13 Because Nazi Soviet pact is they're going to basically carve up Poland. Yeah. Maybe they get Netanyahu who gets a bit of her flotilla navy. Netanyahu's like, if you never have Palestine, I'll solve climate challenge for you. Yeah. She's like, well, all right. Jews do control the weather. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Yeah. Fine. Okay. Yeah. It does it does read
Starting point is 00:51:34 I feel like Because Nathan Yah is just like Right there we go Glim warning Zzzar Yeah Done Yeah done
Starting point is 00:51:43 Now stop being annoying Yeah Now zip it And let me get on with this Yeah I feel like You know I just watched
Starting point is 00:51:52 Burnham's You know Yeah I watched the last night Everyone's saying It's brilliant Yeah I feel like he's
Starting point is 00:51:57 Mr Tricking Not What We could We could solve Climate Change and the Middle East with one solution.
Starting point is 00:52:05 So what? Is he going to be the one brokering the deal? Is that what you think that would be a good move for Burnham? Yeah, it'd be the Burnham Burnham-Nat-Nehud deal.
Starting point is 00:52:14 Yeah, well no, rather than, it's the Molotov-Rivenya-Pact. So it'd be Ben-Gavir. That's what I mean, Burnham-Bengavir pact. Yeah. You can have Gaza,
Starting point is 00:52:21 but the Jews have to stop climate change which is in their power because of trouble. And I know they can so we can stop pretending. So actually just do it, would you? Actually do it.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Yeah. And thanks to make it rain on my birthday again. actually use your powers for once please. It was a barbecue in July. Why did it have to rain then? I'm sorry. Yeah. That we stopped fucking settler colonialism in the fucking haloddible over a birthday.
Starting point is 00:52:42 Everyone went home hungry. Yeah? Anyway, yeah. So the so the precursor to the Ribbon-Trump Molotov pact is the Burn and Ben-Gavir pact. Which is a great idea, I think. I back that.
Starting point is 00:52:58 I feel like we should also... It would be actually Miliband-Bengivir, wouldn't it? It would be the Miliband-Gavir. Yeah, with Miliband-Gavir pact. Because Miliband was energy secretary. But yeah, but now he's foreign secretary. So he'd be like, fuck, you've got me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:11 I have to say yes to this. Both issues solved. Yeah. Anyway. Um, so. Did you see fucking Ben-Gavir is now siding with Argentina's claim for the Falklands? Fuck me. Did you see it?
Starting point is 00:53:24 He did a tweet saying, The State of Israel should recognize Argentina's rightful claims because Ed Miliband supported. said that what was going on in the West Bank was... Jesus Christ. But that's like, what the fuck? Because... But part of me, I don't know if you agree.
Starting point is 00:53:38 Part of me wants them to try again. Oh, do you know what I mean? I'd love them to try again. Get Israel involved. We'll show them anything or two. The same reason I don't want Tottenham relegated from the Premier League. I enjoy pumping up the Emirates every year. It's great for mental health.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Normally happens about springtime. It just gives me a little pep in my step. Yeah. I want them to try again. Every 10 years, I want the forklums to be alive. Let's just do it. Let's just do it. Let's just run that shit back.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Come on. The boys need a run out. Prince Harry's back in the country. Come on. Come on. Let's do it. We can do another flying Pido. I mean, Andrew can, a redemption story.
Starting point is 00:54:12 Oh my God. Can you imagine the narrative? What about Andrew Kamakazis? I mean, what always. Into Port Stanley. Andrew 9-11's, the Malvinas. And everyone's like, do you know what? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:24 He was a, he was a war hero. He was. He was. He was. That's an honorable way out for. Andrew. Fully. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:32 Absolutely. I think it's the only out now. Yeah. He goes, let me back into the fold and I will 9-11 Port Stanley. Give me a state funeral. That's all I ask. And then he does.
Starting point is 00:54:42 And we're like, oh, no, they haven't invaded. Oh, no. You've just crashed a plane into British territory. Oh, you got to have to wait. Yeah. And it was like, there was a young child in there.
Starting point is 00:54:52 This is exactly what we did want to happen. Oh, no. You've flown the Lelita into Port Stanley. You've flown the Epstein Express into Port Stanley. That's, the optics are awful. Fuck, but the thing is... No, but Israel, Israel allying with Argentina. I know, this is the craziest shit.
Starting point is 00:55:10 I was chatting to be doing this. What is going on there? What about the whole Eichmann thing? Yeah. It's insane. Argentina just dropping out of there. Yeah. You know, fucking Nicholas Winton from Britain.
Starting point is 00:55:23 I don't give a fuck about us anymore. They're going to support the fucking, the country that house Mengele. Well, look at that. So they're going on the side of the country that house Mengele as opposed to, the country of Nicholas Winton. Come on. Come on. But once again...
Starting point is 00:55:35 But do you remember... I'm so honest, I don't want to try Israel that. If Israel are helping Argentina, then that's not... I don't mind playing Argentina, but I would be a bit scared fighting Israel.
Starting point is 00:55:43 No, come on. They're a long way from home. Yeah, okay. That's our southern border. We could take them. Yeah. They won't have a navy. Israel?
Starting point is 00:55:52 Yeah, they won't have... Well, they get Greta Thumbog's... We've got two ships. What about Thumbugs' rape for... Fottes... Okay. Well, yeah. Okay, they've got one rape plitilla, but we have two ships now.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Okay. We do have two ships. There's a new one being built? I think that's a long way off. Okay. But we've got two ships. The Navy's down to two ships, is it? I think it's two ships currently.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Ours at a friend's 30th, seeing a military wife whose husband is a submarine captain, but he doesn't have a submarine because we don't have them. A captain without a submarine. Devastating. 60. We have 60 active ships. That doesn't sound like enough. It's not enough.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Oh, and one historic vessel, HMS victory. Get the victory. out, getting the victory back out. If we retake the Falklands with the victory. Come on. Fucking hell. There's no way it would get out at Portsmouth. It would sink before it even left.
Starting point is 00:56:38 Come on. Right. We digress. What are we going to do? We're fighting Israel and the Falklands, I think. We're now sort of enjoying the fantasy of fighting Israel and the Falklands. We haven't really talked about an Nazi Soviet pact.
Starting point is 00:56:50 I think we'll have to leave that to next episode now, I think. So, I don't know how long this series is going to be now, but it's all on the poachian and the rest of it. And we will, in our next episode, episode, we will get to the Tatemic Nazi Soviet pact, the Finnish War, Barbarossa. Some of the best photo ops? Yeah, 100%. Of all time, maybe?
Starting point is 00:57:11 Yeah. And we will get to Stalin's Tatemic role in World War II. That's all the next episode. Thank you for joining us, patrons. Apologies, we enjoyed Trotsky's assassination too much, as I knew I would. Yeah, enjoyed the fantasy of Israel and evaded and the Falklands. I don't know how we got there, but what a time we've had. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:57:26 And as soon as these hats come on, there's just something happens. I want to talk about the Falklands. See you next time. Bye-bye. Goodbye. Bye. Unlock unlimited free grocery delivery with PC Express Pass. Shop online and get the same low,
