Starting point is 00:00:00 It is a sad day for our movement, but her brave sacrifice. It shows that we are willing to lay our lives down on the line, and it only makes our determination for women's suffrage even stronger. Thank you. No more questions. Well, I don't know. Personally, I think you should keep politics out of horse racing. Yeah, it's just virtue-siggling. You know, people come to the horse races to escape politics.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Yeah, to watch horses running. I mean, I've been training all year for this. I was having a really good race, some mad bint runs out in front of me and I don't know what she's trying to say well when a lesbian runs towards a horse you're thinking oh you know what she wants you know she wants that big big fucking juicy horse cock and i'm like do you mind i'm i'm i'm at work here yeah do you know i mean there's a time of the plate you know i'll sign your tits afterwards yeah you chose not to get a dick down by humours doesn't mean you can have a fucking ride on my thing well i mean i'm
Starting point is 00:00:46 not interested some mucky lesbian at the front i'm being ridden by an irish bloke up top no i don't know i'm annoyed i'm annoyed i'm annoyed yeah sorry sorry sorry and we're got him fucking carrots yeah if i could kill for a carrot Welcome back to Finn versus history. Joining me is Horatio Gould. Today, we're talking about the suffragette. Aw. It's Edwardian whining and dining.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Yeah. It's almost successful winters all the time, to honest. I'd say so. I'd say so. Yeah. It's amazing what you can get done if you just be annoying. Yeah. For a decade.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Turns out their experts are being annoying. My God. Yeah. I mean, and also, I did not realize before researching this. topic, but it's talking this topic in, you know,
Starting point is 00:01:43 spitefully. The vote that women now enjoy, and I say, I'd say waste as well. Yes, is frivolous. It's built on the backs of terrorism.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Yeah, 100%. I did not know that. No, these guys are domestic terrorists. They are. They are. The titty ban.
Starting point is 00:01:59 The fanny ban. Yeah, I mean, Emily, Emily Pankhers, I call her Osama bin laundry, more like. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:02:06 It's a very sad story, this. It's a fight that ultimately we lose. But it's a cautionary tale for whenever the issue of suffrage comes up rears its ugly head as it will continue to do so.
Starting point is 00:02:21 It's a cautionary tale to keep it as it actually. Yes. And more vote does not mean better outcomes. Well, I think we should have a referendum. On female suffrage. I could on sex it. I would be 100% in favour of sex it. Women can't vote in that because they'll be biased.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Exactly. Exactly. The body, it would just completely ruin the vote. And non-binary can't either. Sneaky.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Sneaky. Sneaky. That is Jerrymandering. Jerrymandering, who, by the way, is a non-biring. Jane Mandarin. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:53 I guess Jerry works both ways, so, isn't it? Yeah. Is it? Yeah. Jerry. Jerry Adams. And Jerry Hallow.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Jerry Hallowell. Yeah, you're right. Exactly. Let's just deal with a little whistlestop tour of women's rights up until the terrorism begins.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Yeah. At the dawn of the 20th century, women had, well, they'd had quite a lot to be fair to them. In 1848.
Starting point is 00:03:16 They went back for seconds at the breakfast buffet. Well, you've already had a lot, Laura. It's bottomless brunch, isn't it? They don't know when to stop.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Because right now, they're the woman behind the sofa, aren't they? Yes, they are. Yeah, they're upside down behind the sofa. That's for women today. And they had an opportunity
Starting point is 00:03:34 to just have some breakfast and get on with their day. Our female researcher, who's, secretly a terrorist has said though in 1848 they had access to university's education
Starting point is 00:03:44 they didn't get degrees which feels like a nice balance no no hang on it's not up to just because you go to university doesn't mean you're good enough to get a degree if they never got a degree
Starting point is 00:03:52 that's because they're stupid and that's an argument against the meritocracy yes it is it's the free market okay if you don't get a degree that's not the university's fault
Starting point is 00:04:01 all right just because you're allowed in doesn't mean that you get a degree just as nowadays you know women are allowed to drive doesn't mean they
Starting point is 00:04:09 can. Yes. So in 1878, they finally are being able to, the first woman gets a degree. That's how I'm going to phrase that. Right. The first woman gets a degree. 30 years, surely. To be the first one. Charlie, can we find out who is the first woman to get a higher education degree in 1878? If you're transitioning, the first one to do it, you have to start the lesbians before you come to straight women. Yes. Because you have to fade it. Oh, don't get me wrong. I think lesbians should have the vote. I 100% think lesbians should have the vote. They should also. be on the front lines in the British Army? Yes, yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:04:43 They should also be flying all planes. Would you feel all right if you went into like an easy jet flight and there was a lesbian flying? It's Captain Boulding speaking, good evening. Welcome to this easy jet flight. I would be, I would feel safe as houses if Captain Boulding comes on.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Yeah, the butcher the lesbian. Fem lesbian, it's getting a bit. No, no, no, no, no. A butcher lesbian flying a plane. I know exactly, I know, I'm completely... With a policeman's haircut. Yeah, we're landing safely. But I want a gay man to serve me drinks.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Of course. Because I want to forget about the seriousness of flying. And I want the frivolity of a camp man to serve me a gin and tonic to make me think that I'm at gay pride in the sky. Yeah. A disaster. Gay man flying a plane lesbian as a hostess. The worst of all worlds. He's checking grinder.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Loop to loops and then you're getting around. Here you go, mate. There's some crisps. No. Captain balding. Captain balding. you go, mate. Captain Boulding,
Starting point is 00:05:41 first officer Winton, okay? That's what I would like on the plane. Perfect setup. Charlie, what have you found? Mary Eliza Lister,
Starting point is 00:05:49 the first university of degree. What was the degree in? What was the degree in? Muff diving, I imagine. Is that a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences?
Starting point is 00:05:59 Sciences. 100%. It's BSC. Muff diving. BSC. It's not an art, muff diving. It is a science.
Starting point is 00:06:09 And back in those days, they would have had those massive head things to go down there. Jack Cousteau. 40,000 leagues under the muffs. Yeah. No, muff diving is a science because you have to really stick at it
Starting point is 00:06:19 and it's about persistence. Yeah. And the more creative you are, actually the worst it is. Yes, it's true. It's mechanical. It's consistent. Rick Stanton's an excellent muff diver.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Yeah. He's getting the job done. Yeah. So Mary Lister is the first woman to get a degree. It took her 30 years because she found it tough, all right? Oxford refused.
Starting point is 00:06:38 as women degrees until 1920, Cambridge until 48. So they're allowed to go to university, yeah, but you can't graduate. Yes. That would be mad. Yeah, because then you could maybe get a high-paying job or something. In 1857, civil divorce was allowed if adultery was proved or another serious offense, which I guess is what would be murder. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:59 In 1882. They're allowed to be divorced if they're murdered by their husband. Yes. I think that's fair. Yeah. No, you qualify for divorce. In 1882, and I think this is probably the beginning of the end, women, married women, could own buy and sell property,
Starting point is 00:07:19 sue and be sued in their own name. I think that's the beginning of the end. So this is selling sunset sort of stuff. Yes, because before this, women's legal identity was with their husbands. Yes. They emerged. Well, yeah, they're part of the property. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:07:31 They're part of the estate. It's sort of like your fridge being able to sell your house. Well, exactly. Who's getting the fridge and the will? in 1891 R. V. Jackson, kind of R. V. Wade, if you will, the courts ruled that a husband
Starting point is 00:07:43 could not imprison his wife. Right, really? Was this a big, is this like a famous? Can a man not replace his fridge, you know? And then by 18904... So husbands can't imprison their wives? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Does that mean in the home for like a naughty step? No, I think it's that a man... You can't lock your wife in a cage? Violently abduct or to attain his wife simply to enforce the marriage. Oh, I see. So before that was completely legal.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Yes. It must just marriage, isn't it? You know, come on, suck up and just take it, love. So they're being hysterical. Yeah. You throw them on your shoulder. They're kicking and screaming. You chucking up a cage.
Starting point is 00:08:16 It's called marriage, love, all right? It's tough, yeah? It's about compromise. You have to compromise being imprisoned. This is old common law. Yeah. So if she refused to live with him, so if she said no to the engagement,
Starting point is 00:08:28 you could just sort of firemen's lift her into the house. Right. I mean, you recently got engaged. Yes. Did you think she'd say no at any point? Well, she had said no, and she's in the basement at the moment. and I'm waiting for her to cool down because she says completely hysterical.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Yes, well, she'll be. We've got two weeks, and I'm hoping that she'll change your mind. So by 1894, women could vote in the county council parish and district council elections, and they also paid tax. Did they, though? Yes, what are they earning?
Starting point is 00:08:53 Yeah. What's the tax from? Where are they getting that? So anyway, that's what I'd be saying. If I was a tax collector, I'd be like, well, where have you got that for? Where's this money from? Are you dealing drugs? You can't work.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Now, let's just get into the arguments against women's suffrage, okay? Okay. We'll touch on these. Well, no, I mean, I know it's kind of stating the obvious, but we should just for people who aren't aware of the history. Yeah, okay. The first argument is that it would, two words, racial suicide. Okay. And the vote would lead to declining birth rates and the white race would die out.
Starting point is 00:09:32 I mean, this is your favorite period of history. I imagine a kind of a newspaper columnist. It's never been spicier headlines maybe than right now. Should, yeah, yeah. Women shouldn't vote racial suicide. That was a headline in 1900. Yeah. The colonies wouldn't respect Britain if women were given the vote.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I think that's a fair, there's a sound, the sound argument. I mean, a lot of the former colonies don't respect Britain because the way we treat women. I think it's the beginning of the end for the empire to be honest. A lot of people come over here and they'll come from a war-torn country. Yes. And they'll come economically to the UK
Starting point is 00:10:06 And they'll arrive here and be like What do you mean I can't cut my wife's clit off What do you mean? They can vote And you say we're back with What? Where fuck am I? I'm covering a civil war
Starting point is 00:10:19 I have to be here But this is a fucking disgrace I brought my fucking clipbushet What do you mean I can't use it? I'd just smuggle that through customs You mean I can't use it here? What is this? Some bongo bongro land
Starting point is 00:10:29 Listener this episode of Finn versus history is brought to you by Surf Shark. What more can we say about our friends at Surf Shark that we already haven't? They are the lone brave salmon who are sponsoring this podcast. The unsponsorable podcast, they said. Not Surf Shark. The people who provide the best virtual pussy networks in the entire country said no. No.
Starting point is 00:10:53 They are responsible. I believe the kind of people who are buying Surfshark are the same sort of people, good people who listen to Fivis History. Innocent men. Innocent until proven guilty. Ignorant. Thick. Ignorant until proven guilty.
Starting point is 00:11:06 They use VPNs because actually some of this show you need a VPN to watch. Yes. What is a VPN? Imagine your trial and you spend your time Googling questions that you have no right to be bothering with. But you're worried, this stops you being like Charlie. You're not worried about coming across like a freak. This is where VPN comes in. It protects your search history from your employer, from your spouse,
Starting point is 00:11:32 From whoever. Now, we must stress the trauma that you have from what you've searched, if that imprints on your brain, if that changed your relationship to sex, to go into the toilet, to work, that VPN can't help with. We can't help you with that. We can't help you with that. Do not come looking to us for liability over the fact you're a head case, all right? What you look at in your own home is none of my business, okay?
Starting point is 00:11:57 Keep it to yourself. Keep it to yourself. You searchark to help keep it to yourself. They have three and a half thousand service in 100 countries. A hundred countries. What does that mean? What does that mean? I do not know.
Starting point is 00:12:10 I don't know. But all I know is that they're the only brand that sponsor us. And so I will die for them. You're brave man. You're brave than me. I am. Right. Yet again, I'm a lone salmon swimming upstream.
Starting point is 00:12:23 30 day money back guarantee. Risk free. Yeah. God bless Surf Shark and God save the king. Keep your day to save. And we'll see you next time. Goodbye. Do you struggle to keep up with the news every week?

Starting point is 00:12:56 The United States is the weirdest country in the world right now, and it doesn't make any sense to anyone. No, it doesn't, but I want to make it a bit less confusing. Oh, I do. Good. Well, our podcast can help. It's called American Friction, and it's out every Monday and Friday. We discuss all the big news from across the pond and explain it all with world-leading experts.
Starting point is 00:13:19 That's American Friction. Listen, right now, wherever you get your podcasts, right now. American Friction! They think that entering the political sphere would force women to unsex themselves. Shivalry has died. Shibblery was in a sense. It was a sort of framework for coping with inequality. It was an olive branch?
Starting point is 00:13:45 Yes. The whole point of chivalry is like you can't have anything, but will at least be nice to... Oh, please say my seat. Yeah. But now I would like to say, well, if you've got the vote, there should be no chivalry. So stand let's get up. And stand up. There's a lot of arguments for women at the moment who miss chivalry.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Yeah. Where all the chivalrous men. Well, hand in your badge. Hand over your badge and your gun, right? You're voting, right? And then I'll let you sit down. Yeah, you can't have both. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:14 You can't vote and also get my seat on the bus. If you want to be patronized, right? Let's do it. Then let's do it. Yeah, we're ready. We're ready. I'm ready. I'm ready for now.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Right? So women, it was thought. And remember, this is science. Okay. So this is 1887ness. right? Yes, so women were thought to be too emotional
Starting point is 00:14:32 and to lack intellectual capacity. So, evolutionary biologist, friend of the pod, Georges Roman. 1887, yeah. This is Pete. 1887. This is right in the middle.
Starting point is 00:14:41 This is Jack the Ripper's time. This is science, okay? Quote, the average brain weight of women is about five ounces less than that of men. Her intellect is lower. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:51 That's science, okay? So we're talking about the weight of brains here. But there's just, but there's less brain to have thoughts in. Well, exactly. It's clear. It's obvious.
Starting point is 00:15:00 You have less compartments to your brain to keep information. Yes. How much is five ounces in today's weight? About 142 grams. Right. And again, you know, weight is important when it comes to brain matter. It is. And with that comes the ability to make analytical judgments about political direction.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Deciding what you want to eat for dinner. Yeah. Or deciding to eat dinner. If they had five ounces more weight, maybe they wouldn't just have some crisps and then go to bed sad. These are all the arguments against women's suffrage that were fairly clear and obvious to everyone alive at the time. Queen Victoria strongly opposed the idea saying,
Starting point is 00:15:42 quote, mad and wicked folly. She's the woman at the age. So, you know, if she's saying it, in the late 18, I think 90s, a woman called Millicent Forset, which, a terrific name, Millicent Forcet, She sounds gorgeous Yes
Starting point is 00:16:01 Should we let the There's a lot of rabbits For these dogs to see today Can we let the dog see the first rabbit She's a page three girl Millicent What's Millicent say About the Iran war
Starting point is 00:16:10 I think we should have Supported Trump By using the islands Millicent force it Yeah Stern I'd say Tough Millicent's not a name you hear much
Starting point is 00:16:19 Nowadays is it It's died Lovely baby Millicent She doesn't look unattractive But she looks She looks difficult Yeah
Starting point is 00:16:27 To check A difficult woman So she founds the Women's Suffrage Societies, the National Union of, in 1897. Essentially, the story of the campaign for women to vote is one of men going, yeah, we'll get to it, you know. There's other stuff going on. There's bottom of the priority list. There's the home rule issue in Ireland.
Starting point is 00:16:52 A huge issue of home rule. World War I's brewing. World War I's coming. I mean, you know, the Germans are militarising. We'll get to it. We'll get in the minutes. Stop nagging. You let me have some space for a second to just think and be.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Yeah. It's like, my fucking wife is planning the next holiday when we're on a holiday. And you're like, can you just enjoy this for a second? Can you just enjoy not having a vote? Please. Can you just enjoy the privilege of not having to vote? You know? It's like looking at a homeless person thinking, you don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:23 You never have to worry about fucking bills or parking fines coming through the door. or fucking ooh les you don't have to worry about it yeah i'm always getting fucking letters through and they're always asking for money yeah from the government because i've sped yeah and then this guy you just need to ask for money you're the asker exactly anyway in 1903 an extremist emmeline pankhurst founds the w s p u uh we should place 1903 i think this is the um the forming the forming of the Fanny Ban. The Fanny Ban. Yes, the Fanny Ban.
Starting point is 00:17:58 The Jihadettes. 1903. Have you got one, Charlie? Would you like to have a go? Is it after the forming of the Fanny Ban? And before the forming of the Taliban? Well, I'm calling the suffragettes the Fanny Ban. So it's before the Fali ban.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Fanny ban. Well, no, it's not. That is what we're placing. It's the formation of it. Okay. It's after. The first Fanny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Could Phoebe, could you just find out when the first Fanny was, Charlie? So I don't want to... No, you carry on, Charlie. So it's after the first Fanny, right? And before Bonnie Blue used it to its logical end point? Well, yeah, it's the long road to that, I suppose. And before Manny to a Langey? Oh, that's the rhyming thing again.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Yeah, 300 million years BC. We would think the first vagina emerges. Probably on some sort of fish-like creature. Yeah. Out of a swamp. emerges. The first fanny. Yep, the first fanny.
Starting point is 00:18:56 I imagine it's like a scollop or an oyster. Hissing. I mean, it is the beginning of this story, to be fair. Do you know what? You're right, Charlie. We should start in a sort of lake
Starting point is 00:19:05 in, I guess, Ethiopia. If I was doing a history film about the Suffragette, this is how I'd open the film. Yeah. And then a bloke blew up. Well, shut out, would you? No, it's just complete calm and bliss.
Starting point is 00:19:22 And there's a bloke just a bloat just that they're just meditating. It's just staring to space going, oh, this is beautiful. Isn't it great? And then this sort of Arabic, fishy, sea creature emerges.
Starting point is 00:19:36 You're going to fucking shut up, would you? Anyway, so that's 1903, and that is the birth of, let's have a look at Emily Pankhurst, another rabbit to see. She's got something about her. Hey? She's got something about her.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Do you think? Yeah. But you're in a feat liberal cunt. Right. So maybe you would say that. You know, I, I don't like her raised eyebrow.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I don't like how she's Roger Moore yet. I think... I reckon we should have the vote. All right. Emmeline. All right, Emmeline. I also know that nowadays there is a type of wet dad who names their daughter, Emmeline.
Starting point is 00:20:09 You're like, all right, mate. What are you going to name your son? Fucking Mahatma. You're trying to fuck me as well? Yeah. Just fuck off. We get it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:18 We get it. All right? We lost it. We lost it. We're planning for the divorce. You get some fucking young Poontang. Yeah. Yeah, it's a red flag.
Starting point is 00:20:25 I should call my daughter Emily, actually. Get goblin. Get goblin, love. Yeah, I'm one of you guys. I think women should have the vote. I'm wearing a T-shirt. I think we should vote. So the suffragette, the term, is coined by the Daily Mail in 1906.
Starting point is 00:20:42 And I suppose it's like, it's a derogatory term. But they then reclaim it. The W-S-P-U embraced the label, adopting a hard G pronunciation. That is offensive. Suffragette rather than suffragette. Yeah. Suffragette, more, too close to Corgette, I guess that's what it.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Suffra. Suffragette means to get it. Oh, like that? Yeah, Suffragette the vote. You'd fucking suffragette. Is that what they say? And there's also the suffragette. The suffragette of it. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Yeah, we get it. Well, you'd fucking suffer get it, mate. So Pankhurst is born in 1858. She marries, uh, Dr. Richard Pankhurst, a lawyer. he was 44 and she was 21. Let's have a look. So a problematic age gap relationship. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:31 I mean, they're animals. So she is one of the most arrested women in British history. Nice. So she's a delinquent. Yes. She's a terrorist seven times. And I do think we've glamourized breaking the law a lot, you know, but it's not a laughing matter.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Charlie, could we get a list up of the most arrested women in history just to place Emilyne Pankhurst's crimes alongside her accomplices. I'm thinking of women... Who's the Moores murderer? I'm thinking of people like Rose West. Yes. Minnie McGuire...
Starting point is 00:22:01 McGuire. Who's repeatedly arrested for public disorder. Lindsay Lohan and Courtney Love have been arrested many times. Let's find out what Minnie McGuire did because this is sort of the closest to... Because she got arrested almost 500 times.
Starting point is 00:22:14 She was drunk and disorderly. Yeah. Yeah. The same thing. Whining, exactly. So by 1910, Pankhurst has a surveillance operation to tail her. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Okay. So the Edwardian sort of equivalent of MI5 are tailing Pankhurst. Yes. All right. I think that's the least. It's a very polite age. It is a very polite age. Which is quite funny, the way that politics and political action is happening in a quite like
Starting point is 00:22:39 after you sort of era. Well, you'd say... Well, you'd say they, this is the first, these are the first rude people. This is but the birth of rudeness. It is. It is. It's the suffragous. And to be honest, the British state,
Starting point is 00:22:51 has no defence. No, he crumbles. The first sign of people going, no, what do you mean? I don't know what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:22:56 What do you mean? Sit down. Stop shouting. Please. I've said, please. I've said, please. Do you don't need to say it again?
Starting point is 00:23:04 Deeds, not words is her big thing. So she's had a lot of, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll get to it. And so she goes, well, what are actions, please. And it's her daughter, Cristabelle,
Starting point is 00:23:15 who becomes a leading figure in the suffragettes. Yeah, radicalized. Sorry? She gets radicalized. Yes. She is a lawyer trained in law, but she can't practice as a lawyer because she's a woman. So she feels a bit annoyed by this. Sure.
Starting point is 00:23:30 But again, I would just say, we'll just be better at law. So it's like, has Kim Kardashian passed the bar? Has Kim Kardashian passed the bar? Has Kim Kardashian past the bar? Have you been keeping up to date with her attempts to be a lawyer? Oh, are you serious? Oh, do you not know this? Like, Kim Kardashian lawyer.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Well, her dad was obviously a terrific lawyer. No, it's not past the bar. She completed her four-year legal apprenticeship in May 2025 and has taken a break from the Bar exam. Let's resume her attend in 2027. She has, Kardashian previously
Starting point is 00:23:55 struggled with the state's baby bar exam which she ultimately passed on her fourth attempt. Okay. Right. So she is trying to
Starting point is 00:24:01 become a lawyer. She's trying to become a human rights lawyer. Really? Yeah. To be fair, a human rights lawyer with a bundle like that.
Starting point is 00:24:09 I'm listening. Bring people together. Yeah. I'm listening. Christabel. Now, she's quite clever in that she understands PR.
Starting point is 00:24:18 She's the first PR. Just the gerbils of the Yes. Yes. Yeah, suffer gurbals. She also is the first kind of annoying PR woman, which we have a lot of experience in Edinburgh. In our industry.
Starting point is 00:24:27 It's an absolute cesspit, the PR industry. They are crooks. And they do nothing. Yeah, and they end up with Edinburgh, everyone gets ransacked and they do the least work and gets the most money somehow. Yeah, and then they just get, they're just drunk all the time.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Yeah. Can you maybe do something for me, I've just given you three grand? Oh, chill out. Chill out. I'll get to it. Yeah. So the press quite hilariously obsess over her appearance,
Starting point is 00:24:49 which annoys her. She's, no, I think they're getting worse, actually, I'd say, from an attractiveness point of view. Does Christabel do anything for you? I think Christopher has something about her as well. Really? Her eyes are quite far apart. There's a certain look that some women can have with the eyes far apart. Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:25:07 No, but I think you're reading into vibes. Okay. What are you trying to say? Just pure, you're trying to remove the... I'm trying to be objective and scientific. Right, okay, so you're trying to remove the kind of like having a little bit of Geneseecois. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:25:20 I do, it's not what you're going to say quiet because I know what it is. What is it? I will say that this is a terrible era for women's hair. Yeah. I just feel they're not doing much for me because she was probably like in her 20s there and she's got my great aunt's haircut.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Yes, that's true. She just... Yeah, like it's not, that's not a good look. No, the sort of big nest of hair. Like on, if you're watching polons, you're not clicking on the video with the woman with that hairstyle. No. In 1905, Christabel and Millworker Annie Kenny interrupt a political meeting in Manchester.
Starting point is 00:26:02 But I mean, that is incredibly rude because... Just interrupting, aren't you? There's a meeting. Wait until the meeting's finished and then maybe raise your points. And they get ejected and Christabel spits on a police officer to ensure that she gets arrested. Right. Right. So this is like 7-7 bombing?
Starting point is 00:26:17 Yes, it is. Yeah. The first 7-7. And because she wants to get arrested because she actually understands that if she's imprisoned, it's a PR tour. Because she gets into jail, suddenly it's a big story. What is it, Charlie? Did she do it in like a hot way or is it? I knew you were going to ask that.
Starting point is 00:26:32 I knew, I knew you were going to be like, she didn't spit on that dang. Yeah. Hock tour, the policeman. Hot tour. Maybe this is the first hoctor. Yeah. Christopher. A political hot tour.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Yeah. Is there any way she could have done it that would have avoided arrest? would a policeman have been persuadable back there? Yeah, if she spits in his cock. Yeah, it spits his knob and sucks him off. Yeah, and he says, he lets her off with a warning. Yeah. Do an impression?
Starting point is 00:26:59 Let that be a warning to you. No. But this is like, it's like, you're trying to make suffragette porn. That's what you're searching. I want to vote. It's looking like, I actually want to see suffragette porn. Yeah, Charlie, try and find some suffragette porn. So, now we need to talk.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Right, so she understands that imprisonment is a political weapon. and this is all about the suffragette's becoming more radical, okay? No, no, what's that, Charlie, Charlie. That's not suffragette, why is, why is, this is, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, come. There, there, there, sort of.
Starting point is 00:27:35 It's just got a bum out. No, come on. What did you expect? Bum out playing the violin. Charlie. Play a GTA sufferer. Charlie, just get rid of it. Just get rid of it.
Starting point is 00:27:44 You can't tell me to get up on a minute of media. No, I know. Yes, we can. Yes, we can. Yes, we can. Yes, we can. Yes, we can. So, we need to talk about H.H. Asquith.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Yes. Friend of the pod, liberal prime minister. He is the suffragettes enemy number one. And he is a decent man. Yeah. Head of the Liberal Party. And he basically... Clear head, clear conscience.
Starting point is 00:28:07 He starts the welfare state. Yeah. He starts pensions. He's a titanic figure in British politics. And he's the peak of the Liberal Party, which then will split. In rankings of all British Prime Ministers, is he in the top ten?
Starting point is 00:28:21 Possibly. Yeah, he seems to... Although, well, no, maybe not, because it's Lloyd George that follows him. But him and Lloyd George split the Liberal Party, which ultimately kills them. He's like Thatcher to the IRA,
Starting point is 00:28:33 to the suffragettes, right? Yes, yeah. So Asquith argues that the parliamentary vote to women would not, in my opinion, be for the benefit of the state. Okay, that's calmly made point. Calm, clear,
Starting point is 00:28:46 no, thank you. Good point, well made, Henry. Brilliant. That should end the argument. So he was the kind of enemy number one. So suffragettes would hiss the mere mention of his name. Snake. Snake.
Starting point is 00:29:01 They had dartboards with his face on it. He, as they became more militant. So they're already becoming more blokey. Yes. It's already happened. The death agenda has already started. Blastard. Shiverry is dead.
Starting point is 00:29:11 They're all fucking loot Littlers. Yes. He refers to the militant suffragettes as a band of his hysterical women. Asquith is then stalked by suffragettes. Okay? And his second wife, Margot, derides them as wombless, vicious, cruel woman. Because she is an anti-suffragette.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Now, we need to get into these people, these women. There were women brave, you know, heroes of their gender who were anti-suffragists. Yeah. Black restore Britain counters. Exactly. Yeah. What's going on there? What's the equivalent to Uncle Tender?
Starting point is 00:29:47 Tom in this case. Auntie Sheila. She's an Auntie Sheila. Auntie Pam or something, yeah. Yeah. So you have Violet Markham, okay, who is one of the movement's most articulate opponents. She's very well educated.
Starting point is 00:30:01 One of the smartest women at the time. Yeah, she's the only woman who's smart. She's got the, getting the same vibe from that picture of the disabled people protesting how they should be sterilized. You get that picture up, Charlie. I shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. sign so I shouldn't
Starting point is 00:30:18 reproduce. Violet Markham quote, I believe that women do their best work for the state outside the arena of party politics.
Starting point is 00:30:27 Well, the whole idea because a lot of the anti-suffer jets, they viewed the vote as kind of vulgar. Yes. And there was like, there's a big thing
Starting point is 00:30:34 that like you can get more dumb through charity and you should be Jackie Weaver in the local council. The actual political vote is a vulgar masculine thing that you shouldn't be
Starting point is 00:30:42 tainted with. Yes. And it's the cut and thrust of politics, which would get in the way of a lot of sort of charitable work that women could do. The lemonade stands.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Yes, exactly. So there was also Mary Augusta Ward who founded the Women's National Anti-Suffrage League in 1908. She, yeah, she does, to be fair, looks like a bloke. She thinks that entering party politics would damage the influence a woman can hold through family life, charity, etc.
Starting point is 00:31:13 And newspapers would say that anti-suffragists like women who climb on a platform and then say that women shouldn't get on platforms. Which is the only reason of women should get on a platform was to say, yeah, I shouldn't have done this. Get your tickets now for the dog stars. It's no surprise how fast civilization can disappear.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Go! Out there, just kill or be killed. Jacob Allurety. There are people out there. They need her help. Josh Bullen. Shoot first and inquire afterwards. Margaret Quali.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Okay, tough guy. And Guy Pearce. Arm up! The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott, in Theaters Friday. Get tickets now. The United States is the weirdest country in the world right now, and it doesn't make any sense to anyone. No, it doesn't, but I want to make it a bit less confusing.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Oh, I do. Good. Well, our podcast can help. It's called American Friction, and it's out every Monday and Friday. We discuss all the big news from across the pond, and explain it all with world-leading experts. That's American Friction. Listen, right now, wherever you get your podcasts, right now.
Starting point is 00:32:25 American Friction! Do you struggle to keep up with the news every week? The bunker has got you covered. Every Monday, we really start your week, where we go over the big stories to follow in the coming days. And then on Fridays, we have our weekly wrap-up, where we give you the context and the meaning behind the biggest and the weirdest stories of recent days.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Search for the bunker wherever you get your podcasts and subscribe so you never miss an episode. What are the tactics the suffragettes are using? This is the equivalent of getting a Prius, plowing through a farmer's market, driving down a beach promenade. You plowed through a farmer's market. I have been up in the Prius.
Starting point is 00:33:11 I've done it by hand, okay? Crystal Palace Farmers Market, not far from here. It was arguably terrorism, what you did. I paid for everything. I paid for everything. Okay? Not terrorism if you pay for it. But yeah, no,
Starting point is 00:33:26 farmers markets are quite, they're quite, I'd like smaller portions so that I can eat more of it. Yes. The whole thing about the suffragettes is deeds, not words, because the British government
Starting point is 00:33:35 and asked it to be like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll get to it. So Pankhurst immediately starts interrupting political meetings, heckling ministers. There's a story where one of them,
Starting point is 00:33:46 in a fucking church organ for 24 hours and then pops up. There's a comedic side to it though. Yes. It's quite lighthearted, seemingly. But you can see why people are like, well, it's all a bit of fun, isn't it? Yeah, it seemed like it was just kind of quite like a chart.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Like in the film, it's quite a funny montage, right? They're more jumping out of like bins and stuff. Hiding in bins. I want the vote. Well, you're in a bin, love. So I don't think you should vote. Get out of the bin. And then ask me.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Yeah. No. Ask me probably. right done so the police would be called for these women they would go and shout at people speaking yeah the image of like a really uptight British police would the hat's like
Starting point is 00:34:26 you know try come on right come on right come on come on come on but this is where the suffragettes were different they would not they would resist arrest which for the wardens they don't have no idea what to do what do you mean resist arrest right we've we've
Starting point is 00:34:42 we've found you fair and square And so there were like media, the press photos of policemen rugby tackling women with big hats. And this is all part of the PR campaigns. They know it's images in the newspaper that's going to win them. This is what Christopher understands. Many ways the first influencer. She understands the power of images. So the tactics get more militant.
Starting point is 00:35:05 They chain themselves to the railings outside number 10. Yes, Charlie, it could be quite sexy. I can see what you're about to ask. There's a real, they've got a real bruiser called Fiore. drummer is it or flora she called flora what's she called a bruiser called flora yeah flora drummonds and I get a photo of her up she's an absolute fridge right she's like she's a bulkhead of the movement there we go look at her that's a that's I mean if I go if I check the pilots if she's the
Starting point is 00:35:37 pilot we're landing I'm going long haul with Flora Drummond right I'm not stopping for fuel floor drama she's got a foot down she's not sleeping. Look at her. Fuck me. That's a woman. Looks like Tim Dillon. It does look like to get a photo of Tim Dillon up. Yeah, yeah, no, remarkable. Tim Dillon, the suffragettes enforcer, Flora Drummond.
Starting point is 00:36:08 So she would, she... I'm terrified. My man, I see Flora. I'm terrible. She slipped into number 10. She just walked into a cabinet at me. What's happening near love? What are you talking about? Suffragettes chain themselves to the grate of the ladies' gallery in the House of Commons.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Had it worse Mondays. And then the authorities had to escort them out, still chained to the gate. But, you know, it's humiliating. And of course, being women, they resort very early on, actually. To weaponising girl dinner. Weaponising girl dinner. Hunger strikes. So July the 5th, 9th.
Starting point is 00:36:45 2009. The first suffragette goes on a hunger strike for 91 hours in prison. It's later called that. She just didn't eat any dinner. She did it on her own. No one told her to.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Five glasses of white wine. I've told you. No, I don't need to eat. Fucking mess, love. You're a mess. How's a man with her? Because she's type on diabetic.
Starting point is 00:37:05 She just doesn't have any of that. Yeah, BB it's a complete disgrace. No. I can imagine. Yes. If I'm not around her, she will forget to eat any sort of normal
Starting point is 00:37:15 any normal food and then we'll sort of muckbang at like 11pm but watching muck banning just like ice cream and stuff fucking toddler it's insane yeah
Starting point is 00:37:27 it's protein you gotta have protein how do you forget to eat I mean they have smaller brains yeah I mean it's the only explanation I don't need to keep bringing phrenology into this
Starting point is 00:37:41 but you know so she just forgets to have dinner and then the WSP you call it a hunger strike because she's like I'm I'm not criminal, I'm political now what if you did this in the IRA hunger strikes what is it about being
Starting point is 00:37:56 a political prisoner which means you don't eat your dinner? Yeah. What is it? You're still in prison. Yeah. I don't care if it's political. You've got to eat. You've got to eat? Man's got to eat. So, but they release her so that she doesn't become a martyr, right?
Starting point is 00:38:12 So then they start, they're like, oh great, well let's start hunger striking. That becomes policy. And in 1909, the party introduces a pretty hunger strike medal. A little shiny thing for the women to try and get. Because they like shiny things, you know. And then they'd be presented with this at a brunch. Is this eating disorders? Is this eating disorders? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Weaponized eating disorders. Yeah. And you get your anorexia badge, you get your bulimia badge, then you go and have a nice brunch where you all awarded, then you go to the toilets and chuck it all up. So the authorities find themselves snookered because if a suffragette dies in prison, then they look bad. But if they refuse, whenever they refuse food,
Starting point is 00:38:52 then the government appears weak. So the solution, as it is for all male partners, and you know this as well as I do, force feeding. You have to. You have to force feed. You have to force feed your fielsaid. Trick them into eating protein, steak, salmon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:08 So what Horatio will do, 11 p.m. He'll put some salmon fillets in a blender with some creme fresh, a bit of dill maybe, bulk it out, maybe some wet bread. Put an episode of the pit on
Starting point is 00:39:18 and I'm distracted. Yeah. Oh, jeez, wow, what's the shapes in the TV and then just, and then you just open a jaw, put a funnel in her mouth and just pour the salmon paste.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Rinse repeat. Yeah, that's our daily routine. So prisoners, we've got a photo up here. You can see a woman just being shot. That was me last night. That was, sorry, that's from Horatio's phone.
Starting point is 00:39:39 We can get rid of that by them. restrain the prisoners and then push rubber tubes through their mouth or nose and pour liquid food into the stomach right okay so the liquid food is
Starting point is 00:39:49 milk eggs and sweetened bread gruel or a bone broth and Sylvia Pankhurst calls it the most terrible torture to have to eat to have to eat at meal times yeah so between 2009 and 1914 there are hundreds
Starting point is 00:40:05 of suffragettes that go on strike and force feeding becomes quite a big PR boo-boo. I think Emily Davison will get to her next episode. She writes a account of it and it goes sort of like viral. It's not a good image. No, but I suppose it's the first woman, the first time a woman ever went,
Starting point is 00:40:26 I don't think it is. Isn't it? I don't think so. Do you know what I think? I don't think they go is in that way, though. No, not these women. No. I don't think women are gagging on Cox until after World War II.
Starting point is 00:40:38 Yeah, but I think they were gagging on. on cocks and then they stop gagging on. It's like it's up and down throughout history. Do you think? Yeah. So I think the Victorian zipped it up. Right. I think in the restoration though gagging on cock.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Do you think? What is it, Charlie? I know somebody who, um. Gags on a cock? Yeah, and then she threw up on his knob and then, I mean, when he jumped off, he, um, jumped off. Jumped off. Sorry, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just trying to, I'm just trying to picture.
Starting point is 00:41:09 How that, jumped off. He reacted to, to, he reacted to, he reacted to, he reacted to, he reacted to, um the sick and then and then like jumped off and then uh she jumped backwards and smashed her foot with the tv she basically smashed the team she threw up on his knob and then he reacted and then she smashed her TV with her foot and then had to leave oh you've told me this as well and then um didn't the bloc ask for didn't the blocations ask for reparations yeah for the the woman had to pay some bollick yeah yeah no the tv was off the wall and so he asked for a new She kicked back like a donkey.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Yeah. And I think he asked for half the payment of the TV. Yeah. Which you knows. I think that's fair. You know. Look, you, you gobbled me cock, so I'll pay for one half fit, but you smashed my TV. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:53 You also threw up on my cock, so really you should pay for everything. It must happen quite a lot. How often a day? How often a lot? How often a day? How many times a day? You know there's one born every minute. How many times is it?
Starting point is 00:42:03 One cock thrown up on every minute. The disappointing sequel to one ball every minute. Yeah, we just thought after the first one. that would be another hit. I reckon globally maybe like 60 a day. 60 cock's thrown up on. I don't think that's enough? 2000?
Starting point is 00:42:17 I think it's enough. I think it's enough. A day. A day. Think about how much porn is being made all the time. Yeah, but you never see any sick going on. What? You heard.
Starting point is 00:42:26 There's got to be more than that. A couple thousand? Jekin is happening now? Yeah, somewhere. Charlie looks scared, but also kind of interested. So, yes, women are being force-fed in prison from 19, no nine. The suffragettes are as more arrests happen
Starting point is 00:42:43 they're getting they're getting tall up basically they've got fucking floor of the fridge drummond yeah they've got an Amazonian guard of lesbians genuinely they have a lesbian Gaddafi Amazonian guard right because whenever Pankhurst is going through the street
Starting point is 00:42:59 she's I mean she's being tailed by the state and people are pelting her guy you're terrorists or whatever is it a scrum is that the collective noun for lesbians a scrum of lesbians. Yes.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Or a hike, maybe. I think it's a hike of lesbians. I don't know what, what's the, what's the collective noun for non-binary's? Is it a, like a, a wist or like a... A question mark of long binaries?
Starting point is 00:43:25 A mist. A confusion? A confusion. Thank you. A trap. No, it's a trap of trans. It's a trap of trans genders. And a confusion of non-binarys.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Yeah, they have a hike of lesbians. the surrounding Pankhurst at all times. They're known as the Amazons, and their main objective is to shield Emmeline from all the police attempts to detain her, right? So they learn fucking jiu-jitsu. Okay, this is getting serious now. This is.
Starting point is 00:43:54 There's a 4'11 fucking absolute weapon of a woman called Edith. Is she French? Edith Garud, right? She's the world's first professional female martial arts instructor. But also, Edwardian fashion is the least judge. it's a sort of friendly fashion. We're seeing a photo now it looks like you've got a wedding cake
Starting point is 00:44:13 on her fucking head and she's throwing a man to the floor. It's insane. Right. She is British, right? She trains this bodyguard unit. Yeah. This is like when the Taliban are in the hills
Starting point is 00:44:24 of Pakistan, right? She's in the like Surrey Hills. This woman is training Respectable Edwardian women how to throw policemen to the floor. Formerly respectable. Formerly, yeah. Lost women.
Starting point is 00:44:36 How to throw policemen to the floor. So she's like, use your hatpins as daggers. And then so there's a spate of officers trying to attempt to arrest middle class women who get absolutely humiliated because they get thrown to the floor by deadly.
Starting point is 00:44:53 I mean, this is insane. Little ninjas. I did not know that, you know, women vote on the backs of jiu jitsu terrorists. It's astonishing. And this violence, right, which is one-sided, it must be said,
Starting point is 00:45:07 leads to it's one-sided, okay, Black Friday, 1910. Another Black Friday. Another, another. We stop calling a Black Friday, just come up with a new name for it.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Pink Friday, probably. This is the peak, okay? This is November of the 18th, 1910. 300 women marched to Parliament after yet another suffrage bill is collapsed, and for six hours, police and protesters clash in Parliament Square, officers had been instructed
Starting point is 00:45:38 not to make arrests because they were getting wise to the fact that this is their PR tactic and then protesters accuse police of widespread violence and sexual assault but I would like to ask what were they wearing?
Starting point is 00:45:51 I think they're wearing a wedding cake on the head. Well, fair enough, you know? Come on. I'm flesh and blood. Yeah? Look at that. You wear a wedding cake
Starting point is 00:45:58 and fucking flawed in the skirt. What I meant to do? What are I meant to do? I'm not a human. I can't even see your toes. What are we going to do? Yeah? You covered everything up.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Literally only your neck on show. Only your neck on show. Well, fucking, come on. Come on. I'm a hound dog. Let men be men. All right. Boys will be boys.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Yeah. Numerous women later report being punched, twisted, groped and assaulted. Yeah, but they're doing digitzes. They're fucking. I mean, come on. You know. Stay in the kitchen. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:46:28 And also stay in the kitchen. The government refuses a public inquiry. Okay. Because it's being run properly by H.S. I always don't need this. Just. just calm, everyone calm down. This is the long road
Starting point is 00:46:38 is David Cameron telling that woman to calm down. Was Asquith the one with a young piece? Is he the one who's always writing letters to his... Don't know. Can we find that out? Do you know about this? No. Asquith, he becomes incredibly horny
Starting point is 00:46:52 for his daughter's best friend I believe he's 18 when he's 65. Oh. There's a collection of his unbelievably horny letters. Yes, is it? Yeah, yeah. Venetia Stanley. A close friend of us.
Starting point is 00:47:05 daughter of Ireland. Oh, hello. So you know, in World War I when there was like the meeting about Gallipoli, right? The whole time he's writing a letter during that.
Starting point is 00:47:14 No. Just like writing horny. He's basically sending dick pics. In the meeting. Edwardian dickens. Fuck. During the meeting. Like Glypilly something.
Starting point is 00:47:21 He's like, yeah, yeah, whatever you want, Churchill just doing it. Yeah, yeah. As he's just drawing his knob and fucking posting it to. I mean, that's where my great granddad thought.
Starting point is 00:47:27 You're saying the part of the reason he got. Yeah, yeah, because this fucking ask was completely horned out his mind. Part of the reason that he got shell shock, came back. His wife killed himself was because this cunt
Starting point is 00:47:36 was writing love letters to an 18 year old during the meeting. That's amazing. Yeah. That absolute horn dog ask with. So was he,
Starting point is 00:47:46 was he, what did Vinisha, did he write to her about suffragettes? Because he wrote to her about everything. He told her all state secrets and stuff. Yeah. God. So he did respect women's opinion
Starting point is 00:47:56 if they were vomiting on his knob. How explicit do you imagine that the writings about them would have been? Now it's like, feel you dripping out of me or like i'm Jesus Christ I think you'd be surprised
Starting point is 00:48:11 now it's like that is it well remember Charlie all you have is writings because now it's much more visual culture it's far more literate back then so the filth would have to come through the words but is it like I'm throbbing or like or is it just is it much more kind of like my delicate flower burns well there's a Napoleon wrote to Josephine Josephine saying I'll be back at three days don't wash
Starting point is 00:48:33 but also what was that thing with the Russian Revolution was about a similar time, the Roman office. What was it? Miss Lizzie. Yes. Nicholas Zars, Nicholas Second would write to Miss Lizzie.
Starting point is 00:48:45 You write letters to someone at her fanny. Yeah, but it's not like, I'm going to blow Lizzie's door, like, you know, back out. I'm going to tear Lizzie to pieces. It's like,
Starting point is 00:48:53 I want to see Lizzie. Is anyone going to say, I want to tear your cunt to pieces? Is anyone saying that nowadays? I imagine so, yeah. Really? Yeah, people are saying that. Are they?
Starting point is 00:49:00 Yeah. Gosh, I really am. It's not like a common vernacular, but. I really am, quested away, aren't I? Sorry, are they saying that in the confines of a relationship?
Starting point is 00:49:07 Will they just go up to women? I imagine you're... Grab your coat, love. I'm going to tell you a cunt of piece. Um, do women want their cunt to be mulled, is my question.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Maybe the, the kind of... They want to be wanted. Just went like this. I'd worse my... I'd worse my... I'd watch my... I'd want to...
Starting point is 00:49:38 I'd call. Got mauled. Fucking hell. Like an ex-el bully. On a toddler. Christ. Do you know that Werner Hotzog went to a grizzly man?
Starting point is 00:49:49 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. At the end, he listens to him. He gets more. That's what women want from their... Yeah. I don't understand. It's a hurt song to listen to it, go.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Oh, no. Don't ever listen to this. Oh, man. Don't ever listen to this. I don't understand female sexuality. I don't. So are you, are you a dirty talker in the bedroom? Oh, kiss me by me.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Dino first and then more my cunt like a dog. Well, yeah, it's the two sides. They want, they want both. I know. And that's, that's what, I think that's all women ask for is they want both. And men seem to struggle to switch. Get you a guy who can, you know, take you out to dinner. It's like the guy who maw's cunt is also the rapist.
Starting point is 00:50:25 Can we have the, the guy who reaches to dinner and then. A gentleman. Yeah. I think if I use kind of, if I say like pussy, I, I, I try to say like, let me, I'll just be like, I want to fuck your pussy. But then I kind of start, I cringe because I'm just. Yeah, I'm, I'm pringing now. I can't pull it off.
Starting point is 00:50:41 So if I say, like, let me touch your, let me be with your garden or something. Oh, for fuck sake. Do you say that? That's worse. It's way worse. But how much are you, are you chatty during sex? Yeah, but the other day we, I was like, you chat, do you laugh a lot? Yeah, I just made a curry.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Which I think is unacceptable. We were in the bits of it and I was like, are you feeling a bit burpee? But like, during it, at a. That's horrible. Sorry, sorry, you're saying that as if it's getting you off? Like, you, like, mid-thrust going, are you feeling burpy, are you?
Starting point is 00:51:07 Yeah? Do you need a Rennie? Yeah? And then we had stil. I'm going to spout. Gaviscon all over your tics. I'm going to sploge his rannie off my cock. Yeah. I'm going to splooge Gaviscon all over your tits.
Starting point is 00:51:20 Crazy. Am I a good boy? I say, am I a good boy? Do you say that? I do you say, I'm a good boy. That's what you say during sex. Do you like being called a good boy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:30 But I want to be like kind of in charge when it's happening. But I am I want to be a good boy. Am I a good boy? Like a dog? Yeah. Fucking hell. So ladies, if you want to be cooked to curry, get you a man who can do both,
Starting point is 00:51:44 cook you and curry, then fuck you and ask you a burpee. Yeah. So, yeah, Ascuth is busy, mauling the cunt of his teenage daughter's best friend. Yes, Black Friday is, um,
Starting point is 00:51:57 uh, women be shopping. Yeah. Almost immediately, the event's known as that. Um, so there's a, there's a deal on at Primark.
Starting point is 00:52:05 Yeah. And again, there's just, they're trampled over each other. Yeah. And the, the police are just, trying to get them to form a queue,
Starting point is 00:52:12 but the bargains does something to their small brains. They're beating up grannies, they're even fucked. Yeah, they're trying to just get their hand around. Any collectivism has gone out of the window. No, they're just trying to grab them the nearest Nutri Bullet and run. So,
Starting point is 00:52:25 115 women are arrested and four male feminists. We need to see these guys. Yes, now they are, that is something. So four Benedict cover matches. The long road to this is what a feminist looks like. Can we have a look at some male suffragettes?
Starting point is 00:52:40 I do think we should start calling male feminists to male sufferers. Yeah. Because, yeah, here we go. That's Keir Hardy, who fans the Labour Party. Yeah. He's the first one, who are one of the first ones? Are these guys getting a lot of pussy? No.
Starting point is 00:52:53 They're trying to. No, but these guys don't mall come. Right. Do they? Because they're too, you know, this is the great problem of female sexuality. I want to be respected right up until I want my cunt maud like a dog. And you go, when do I push that button? You want someone who respects you, I get that.
Starting point is 00:53:16 But then think about how much cunt Errol Musk gets. Exactly. The messages I'm getting from society are marry your stepdaughter because one woman's another woman. He's not right. One woman is another woman. I mean, he is right about that. Technically, one woman is another woman. He would have eaten these cunts for breakfast, by the way, Errol Musk.
Starting point is 00:53:32 This is the opposite of Errol Musk these guys. Hugh Franklin, we're looking at now. He's a member of Men's Political Union for Women's Enfranchisement, the NPR. I imagine it sounds like this. I think women should have the vote, actually. I'll piss off you. I'll piss off you. Would you fucking take a day off, would you?
Starting point is 00:53:51 This is what a suffragette looks like. Miao. He set the side of protest. So he attacked Winston Churchill on a train with a horse whip. He says, take that. People don't say take that anymore. Take that, Winston Churchill, you dirty Kerr. Now his Kerr...
Starting point is 00:54:06 Is that a slur? Must be. Must be. it must be a but it's I don't think it's a racialised slur we can make it racialised
Starting point is 00:54:13 it's an old fashioned what's a dirtie dog it's a mixed breed sort of mongrel dog okay fine and Churchill looks like a bulldog so that's pretty offensive
Starting point is 00:54:21 that's very offensive actually I do apologise I imagine he's quite insecure about his weight yes and his hygiene what is it Charlie Hugh Franklin might be
Starting point is 00:54:28 you know those guys that kind of pretend to be you know those do you think he could be quite nasty behind closed doors well there is a pattern there's a nastiness
Starting point is 00:54:34 there is a nastiness to the outward male feminist. You know, Errol Mask, I don't think there's, like, hidden evils. It's all out there. It's not hiding much, I don't think, Errol. He's not got many skeletons in his closet, does Errol.
Starting point is 00:54:48 He's putting skeletons on the fucking front patio. But, you know, there is a... It's fucking Halloween outside Arrow on itself. But there is a sort of, there is a trope, certainly within comedy. I don't know about the rest of the... Spoken wordtons is a lot of... Oh, I can
Starting point is 00:55:02 imagine. Charlie, I think every spoken word artist is a rapist, and there's not much you can do. That's the whole podcast. by that opinion. Yeah, there's not much you can do to change my mind on that. I think if you're doing spoken word live, I think you've raped in the past. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:15 And you will rape again. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's just my opinion. That's just fact. You were saying. Certainly in comedy, there's definitely a feeling that the most outspoken male feminists are actually the ones women have to worry about the most.
Starting point is 00:55:30 There's lots of stories of, you know, the guys who fucking... You're a deeply problematic man, but then you go home to two kids and family and mortgage with a cash guy in the drive. Exactly. Yeah. My cash guy's problematic, but that's for hygiene reasons.
Starting point is 00:55:44 It is Ulaz compliance, all right? But yeah. Well, I mean, I monetize my problematicness rather. Everyone see, you get all the wild stuff is out. Yeah, exactly. Anyone who only shows this kind of perfect image of themselves morally because you're hiding. Especially if you're a stand-up act where you're working at it.
Starting point is 00:56:01 It's like, why are you working at being nice? Yes. Isn't it better to work to be like a very, version of yourself that's awful that people find funny. Yeah. Right. Whereas, and then you turn that off,
Starting point is 00:56:12 you're just like a normal guy, right? But if you're like the, but we know it in common. There's the trope of the, there's so many stories. The archetype of the male, the male feminist stand up.
Starting point is 00:56:21 Yeah. Always the biggest comeback. I mean, yeah, always the biggest comeback. Anyway. That's why, you know,
Starting point is 00:56:27 people like Earl Musk are less problematic, I think. Yes, yes, exactly. Because it's about deeds, not a skunkberg. Yeah. Deeds not words.
Starting point is 00:56:33 He's not hiding anything. No, one woman's another woman. So, after Black Friday in 1910, it's all getting quite violent. The suffragettes, okay, are getting increasingly a militant, right?
Starting point is 00:56:45 And in 1912, we have the Great Window Smashing Campaign. Crystal Nacht. Healing Kristallnacht. They launch a coordinated attack on windows, all right? They, you know, they bite off their hand despite their face. They're smashing up shop windows.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Where are you meant to spend the fucking weekend? Yeah, so you're really obsessed with the quality, but don't give a half. hell about windows. Yeah. Square that circle. Hmm. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Right. Hypocrical much. Does a window have a right to exist? Should Windows have the vote? I think Windows have a right to defend themselves. They would conceal
Starting point is 00:57:20 hammers in their muffs. Oh no, what's a muff at this point? What is a muff? It's an Edwardian thing. So how baggy are these muff? I reckon floor drummers got a fucking hammer in our muff.
Starting point is 00:57:31 I mean, she takes ages to find it. Exactly. Right. Leading on a haystack. Fucking hammering drummers muff. Oh,
Starting point is 00:57:37 muff is like a big, big glove thing. Right. Right, okay. So they'd walk around. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:42 So it's like you see those scooters, delivery drivers have the oven mitts on their scooters now. That's a sort of new age muff. So big hairy thing. Big hairy thing. And so I was like, oh, that's a nice muff.
Starting point is 00:57:52 He goes, no, that's literally my pubic hair. Yeah. So we'll pull on it thinking. Is that where it began? I think so. In the, in the tundra,
Starting point is 00:57:59 millions of years ago. Or Florian's Muff. Flora Drummers Muff. There was, when there was a little, stop clicking at me. little, when there's a little scallop woman, when there's that thing,
Starting point is 00:58:11 the first woman has a really big hairy muff and she keeps her hands warm in her pubic hair. Well, I'd love to keep my hands warm with floor of drummer's muff. I mean, is there anything warmer? Yeah. The problem is it's not a safe place to be. It's not a welcoming space for us, floor of drummers muff.
Starting point is 00:58:25 It's a hostile environment. Yeah, but as the great explorers. She's hissing. Yeah, it's a frontier. It is the frontier. So, women can seal hammers in their muffs and their handbags, and this is what's crazy is that these are respectable middle class
Starting point is 00:58:40 you know women probably the most respectable looking women there have ever been big fucking cake hats you know not an ounce of flesh on show and they're terrorists they are asking for it
Starting point is 00:58:53 they're asking for the vote and I'm like well that's not what I'm here and you know they damage thousands of pounds worth of shot windows I don't know if we've recovered financially from it yeah I don't think, but also, you know, the Nazis, Christalnacht is when the Nazis turn, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:59:11 Yeah. Because Anglos happens before that. Yeah. And like, as we say, we're pro-antelous. Cristanax, we go, well, hang on, guys, where's this going? Yeah. I'm going to get off the bus here, actually. We don't say the same about the suffragettes.
Starting point is 00:59:22 No, we don't. You know? Where is the suffragette duremberg? That's, yeah. We still have time. There is still time. Sandy Toxvig is head of the party, isn't she? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:32 The Women's Equality Party. Is she? She is? They've got the same colours, green, white and purple, whatever it is. I think we should haul her over the coals. Yeah, we should at least get her to pay for the windows that are smashed. Listen, Christabel Pankhurst flees to Paris, right? And then she kind of operates from there, and she gets criticised
Starting point is 00:59:48 being like a general directing battle from a safe distance because she's now wanted for incitement, incitement of violence. And we just before we end this episode, we need to get into the practice of whipping. Right. Because this... And with Frankhurst. Emily Spankhurst
Starting point is 01:00:06 Again, they love They love it They love it rough when they want it Do you know what I mean? When are I meant to turn rough? Help me out. You know, I'm buying your dinner, I'm respecting you,
Starting point is 01:00:16 I'm kissing your first. Is it in between the main course and the dessert? I'm meant to all your cunt before dessert or after? You know? Where did de jestiefs come in? So November the 13th, 1909, Theresa Garnet fucking strikes Churchill with a dog whip
Starting point is 01:00:32 shouting, take that in the name of the insulted women of England. Okay, nice. She gets a month in prison, forgets to have dinner and is force fed, but that's irrelevant really. That's just come on.
Starting point is 01:00:42 At a Scottish golf club, two young ladies ambush Asquith. But he's having, is his time off? It's just, can a Prime Minister not have a holiday? It's stressful.
Starting point is 01:00:51 He's not the Prime Minister on the golf course. No. They knock his hat off and they whack him over the head with a rollout magazine. Right, which is terrorism. Edwardian terrorism.
Starting point is 01:01:00 For an Edwardians, this is terrorism. Right. And on the same day, at midnight... They're basically driven through a German Christmas market. You might as well have done. At the same day, Flora Drummond, right, Tim Dillon with a massive muff, corners asked within a hotel corridor, and attempt to lash him with a whip. Now, is this a sexual thing?
Starting point is 01:01:17 Well, it can't... Why the whip? Why is that a tactic? Well, is this a beginning of dominatrix? I think we must be. The beginning of the dominatrix. Didn't hate it. It was surprised.
Starting point is 01:01:26 Because he was like, God, that's annoying. Oh, who are you? Do you have any younger friends? So Flora is always known as the general. The general. And always dressed in her navy get up. And so, yeah, Pankhurst justifies the whipping by saying it's perfectly proper for him to be assaulted with dogwhips given his political stalling.
Starting point is 01:01:49 Fuck it. In 1912, some mad woman throws an axe at Asquith during a meeting in Dublin. And it misses him, but fucking hits an Irish nationalist leader. who luckily survives. Because that's all going on. The whole rule at the time. It's like a much bigger deal. We'll get to it, guys.
Starting point is 01:02:07 All right. There's stuff going on. Yeah. We've got more winching from over the virus. I mean, I know. It's winging on winging. We're surrounded. A man gets whipped at Houston station
Starting point is 01:02:17 by suffragette who mistakes him for Asquith. I mean, it's getting unreasonable. It is carnage. And yet, chaining themselves to things, not eating their dinner, smashing up their shop windows,
Starting point is 01:02:29 and whipping men is not working. Okay. And so it is time for these terrorists to up the ante. If that was possible. I don't know where you go from here. Well, you started big. New lows will be found.
Starting point is 01:02:42 In our next episode, women be bombing. Lesbian terrorists are ousted. And we will finally learn if women ever do get the vote. Yeah. That episode is already on our Patreon, which for £3 a month,
Starting point is 01:02:59 can join to getting into access to series. We're the biggest in the UK. And we are proudly anti-suffragist. Okay? Proudly. It's a safe space. There are forums there where you can discuss all your anti-suffragist policies and thoughts. Okay?
Starting point is 01:03:14 Yeah. There are some women there as well and they believe they shouldn't have the right to vote. And they, I understand, respectfully, every election spoil their ballots. On the pageant, the bonus episode this week, we're talking about Nancy Astor, who's the first female MP, which is a crazy story. She was an artist sympathiser. Anyway, you never know what do this sort of stuff. Never know where it's going to lead.
Starting point is 01:03:40 Anyway, that's on the Patreon, but if not, we'll see you on Thursday for part two of the tragic tale of the suffragettes from all of us here. Goodbye.
