Listen to Decisions Decisions on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First date follow-up. Antonio is the dude on the phone for a first date follow-up today, and he thinks that something he did in the kitchen might be the reason that he's not getting a call back from a girl named Tina. Did he take a dump in her food or something? I'm not really sure what he did yet, but I do know that I've had at least 15 dates
Starting point is 00:02:07 back when I was dating that were ruined by me doing stuff in the kitchen too. I don't even want to know. I'm not sure if it was due to the thing he chose to use to mash the potatoes like mine was. Whoa. What did you use? You'd think people would give me props for what I used.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Anyway, you'd think they'd give me props for being flexible, but no, they didn't. Oh, my God. Anyway, they just filed charges. But enough about me. I'm talking about Antonio, and let's find out what Antonio did and why he thinks he's not getting a call back right now. Antonio, what's up, man? How are you?
Starting point is 00:02:39 Hey, guys. Yeah, I'm doing well. So I'm assuming if you did what I did, is the burn healing? Okay. yeah, I'm doing well. So I'm assuming if you did what I did is the burn healing. I definitely did not do what you did. I was not burned in the process. Well, good. All right. So the girl you want to call today, her name is Tina. Tell us about your date. Well, I mean, it went really well i thought i mean this girl is beautiful i mean magazine cover kind of beautiful and her sense of humor was just unbelievable like you know what i mean she's just like one of those girls that can kind of hang
Starting point is 00:03:20 you know she was so cool and uh i i really thought that we hit it off, but, um, it's been about a week and I have not heard from her and I've tried contacting her a couple of times now. Okay. So what did you guys do for your date? Well, I had her over because I thought it would be really romantic to make some food and cook for her. Okay, so you're a good cook? Normally, yes. Normally, yes, but not in this occasion? You know, I think I was just really nervous because, you know, I really enjoyed chatting with her before the date, and I really wanted it to go well.
Starting point is 00:04:06 And I was getting ready while I was cooking, and I wound up burning the food. What kind of food was it? I made steak. Oh, steak. You can't fix steak. No, yeah. If you burn steak, it's bad. So what did you end up doing?
Starting point is 00:04:27 Instead of just like coming clean and taking her out somewhere, which is probably what I should have done, I ordered some food and passed it off as my own. All right. Oh. I mean, that's pretty, I think that happens a lot probably. Okay. All the time. Yeah. So why do you think that she knows though?
Starting point is 00:04:51 Well, I can't think of any other reason why she's not getting back to me. I mean, the conversation was really good. Like I said, we were laughing. We were having a great time. You think that she thinks you are a liar? I think that might be it. Well, depending on what you ordered as well. And also what you said about it. You took it out of the boxes you got it in, right?
Starting point is 00:05:08 No, yes, yes, I did. I even took out the trash where all of the containers were in before she got there. Like, I really covered my tracks. I ordered from this great Italian place. But it's kind of well known in the town. And I think that she just might have recognized it. And she complimented me on the meal a couple of times. And, you know, I totally took credit.
Starting point is 00:05:36 So I'm just, I'm hoping that that didn't turn her off. Okay. Is that a reason not to call? Yeah, that'd be a huge turn off. Really? Because they lied? Yeah, because he lied. But if they told you, if they were like, if they came clean and said, hey, I burned what I was going to make, so I ordered this Italian food and joked about it, that'd be better.
Starting point is 00:05:53 It also depends on what he said, though. Like when she was complimenting the meal, like, you know, it really depends on like how much he went into it. If he's just like, oh, thanks, you know, like, yeah. He's like, I've been prepping it for months. Well, I mean, I was just really nervous. She was so beautiful and I wanted to impress her I mean
Starting point is 00:06:08 everybody boasts a little bit on a first date I think except you were boasting about food that you didn't make and if she knew that
Starting point is 00:06:16 maybe that's the reason you're not going to call back well we'll play a song come back and then call her and see if the fact that you're a big liar is the reason
Starting point is 00:06:24 you're not going to call back right? could be alright thanks guys yep we do it next. It's the Jubal show. Antonio's on the phone with us for a first day follow up today. He wants us to call a girl named Tina. He actually invited her over for dinner and she was excited about that. He said that she was amazing and now she's not calling him back. And he thinks the reason is because he burnt the food that he was trying to make her. So he ordered from a restaurant and then took credit for it and then like really took credit for it when she said that she liked
Starting point is 00:06:50 it and said it was his grandma's recipe, mom's recipe something like that. His mom's recipe? Yeah, it was mom. You even brought your mother into this. So he said it was his mom's recipe. He thinks that she knew he was lying and that's why she's not calling him back.
Starting point is 00:07:05 So we're going to see if we can call her and find out if that is the reason. All right, Antonio, if that is your real name, are you ready to go? Yeah, let's do it. All right, here we go. Hello? Hi, may I speak to Tina, please? This is Tina. Hey, Tina, how are you?
Starting point is 00:07:34 This is The Jubal Show. Hello. Hi. Wait, what? This is The Jubal Show. We won't do that whole thing again. It's a radio show. My name is Jubal.
Starting point is 00:07:46 With me is my hottest wife, Alex Friash. Hello. And English Evan. Hi. Sorry. And we got an email about you. That's why we're calling you. Okay. You got an email about me? Yes, I did. Cool.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Well, I'll tell you in just a second. We do a segment on the show where if you go out on a date with someone and then end up ghosting them or not calling them back, they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened. So you recently went on a date with one of our listeners and they emailed us because apparently you're not getting back to them. Okay. She's been super excited about this. Yeah, you do. Have you been out on a lot of dates in the last week or so? A lot is an interesting phrase to use.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I wouldn't say a lot. More than one? But I've been on more than one. Okay. Yeah. So what were the names of the people that you went on a date with? I'll let you know. Or who you ghosted.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Yeah, who have you ghosted? Antonio. Oh, who have you ghosted? Antonio. Oh, all right. Okay. So you've been out on two dates and one of them you're still talking to and Antonio is the one you're not talking to. Now, I'm not a mathematician, but if I were to try to guess which person emailed us, I would probably go with Antonio. I think so. Yeah. You sound excited.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Yes, you do. So why did you stop talking to him? Look, I'm going to be real with you. I feel kind of bad talking, you know, bad about someone on the radio. Yeah, but he wanted it to happen. Well, he didn't want necessarily want you to talk bad about it, but he wants to know why. Yeah. Anybody that does this on the show, we always tell them you might hear something you don't want to happen. Well, he didn't necessarily want you to talk bad about it, but he did. But he wants to know why. Yeah. Anybody that does this on the show, we always tell them you might hear something you don't want to hear, so. Okay. Do you guys just want me to be blunt? Yes, we do. Yes, we would love it. I kind of
Starting point is 00:09:36 think Antonio is a crackhead. I mean... A crackhead? That is blunt. That is blunt. He didn't sound like it. I mean, you told me you were okay with it. Well, no, I mean, that's fine. I just... He doesn't sound like a... Yeah, he doesn't sound like a crackhead to me. He didn't sound like it. You told me you were okay with it. Well, no, I mean, that's fine. I just, he doesn't sound like a, yeah, he doesn't sound like a crackhead to me. He didn't sound like a prepaid phone.
Starting point is 00:09:51 What do you mean by that? Well, like, maybe not crack, but like cocaine or something. Why? Why? Oh, you're right. That's much better. I mean, he like made me dinner, which was really nice. The whole time he was just really fidgety.
Starting point is 00:10:14 And it seemed like more than just nerves. Really? I was just going to say maybe he was just nervous. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Did he have big pupils? I mean, the pupil thing, I guess I didn't pay as much attention to, but I definitely noticed that he was going to the bathroom a lot and his nose was really runny.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Oh, yeah. Okay, those are telltale signs. Yeah, for sure. He's been skiing. Yeah, he just kept talking about the food really fast. I mean, he could have been nervous or something, but I just thought all of the signs were kind of weird. Well, he definitely didn't mention that part.
Starting point is 00:10:55 No, he didn't. He told us about your date. He said that he made you dinner and that you guys hung out. And that he burned the dinner and then he ordered takeout and tried to act like it was his. But he didn't tell us that he was a cokehead. I didn't know he ordered takeout.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Yeah, apparently he burnt the dinner. Yeah, apparently he did that. He burnt the food and then told you that the stuff that he ordered from a restaurant for you guys to eat was actually his recipe. On top of that though, you think that he was doing drugs because his nose was running
Starting point is 00:11:25 and he was talking all crazy. I don't know. It just seemed like the most plausible thing because he was just talking so fast and he kept going to the bathroom and he was fidgeting and his nose was running and you know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:40 We should ask him if he's on drugs because I'd like to know because it didn't sound like it at all when we talked to him. Wouldn't you like to know, Tina? I mean, I guess. Not really. Well, I'm just, you know what? I think we should ask him right now, because he's actually on the line listening and wants to talk to you. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Hey, Tina. Hi. I am not a drug addict. I promise you. So then what is the, why the nose running and the bathroom trips and the fidgety? How do you explain all that? Well, first of all, look, Tina, I really liked you a lot. And I'd really just love to explain what actually happens.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Okay. My allergies always act up this time of year. It's been like really bad since like about five years ago. And I do everything that I can, but nothing seems to work. I have a neti pot in the bathroom. I was using that. And, you know, a lot of people get turned off by that kind of stuff. So I didn't want to say anything. Not exactly sexy talk there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:57 So you say your nose was runny because of allergies. And you kept going to the bathroom to try to clean your nose. 100%. Okay. So what about the fidgetiness, though? Well, the fidgetiness, thank you for selling me out there, Alex. Oh, yeah, you're welcome. Anytime. But I guess I might as well, you know, come clean now that it's all out there.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Yes. I burned the dinner that I was baking for you, Tina, and then ordered takeout and passed it off as my own. You know, you were complimenting me on the food and, you know, I wanted to impress you because I was just really enjoying our time together. And I just I really hope you'll give me another chance. Tina, what do you think? Will you go out with Antonio again on another date? We'll pay for it. You can go to an actual restaurant, eat their food, and
Starting point is 00:13:53 he can't lie about it. Put him in an environment where he can't lie. Yeah, and lock the bathroom door. As long as you don't lie about making the food, which I guess you can't with this date because we're going to a restaurant. And as long as you take some allergy medicine beforehand. Now's a good time to mention this is brought to you by Allegra. I will call my doctor right now and get that allergy medication.
Starting point is 00:14:20 And now his doctor code for drug dealer and his medication code for cocaine. That's what we need to know. No! No! Alright. Well, congratulations. You got another day. Yay! Yay! Amazing. Thank you guys so much.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Hey, Antonio, I know something we can do to celebrate. Don't even try it. Alright. Jubal's First Date Follow-Up. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the homestretch, right in time for a new season of my podcast,
