The Jubal Show on demand.
First date follow-up.
Chaz is on the phone today for a first date follow-up,
and he's not getting a call back from an angel.
An angel?
I don't know if it's like a real angel or just somebody named Angel.
We'll find out.
Chaz, what's up?
You went out on a date with an angel.
Yeah, man.
It's so weird. So, like, we met up at a baseball game.
So, I didn't know her before then.
She came with a group of friends, and I came with some buddies.
And, you know, we had a good time.
You know, dude, at a baseball, we're drinking, eating hot.
We're just having a good time.
So, I was like, man, you know, what a cool young lady.
Let me get her number.
So, she was receptive.
You caught her looking at you, and then you bit your lower lip and looked at her and winked.
And was like, yeah.
This was like, this was like i
caught eye contact like the second inning so i waited though man until the end of the game you
know oh okay i mean we talked around but yeah before i asked for the number you know i just
wanted to see how the evening went did you talk to her during the game much? We did. Well, it wasn't a lot.
You know, it was just, you know, a little small chatter about the game
and how often she comes and, you know, hey, you live here locally.
So it was just small chat, but it was very receptive.
And she even engaged in dialogue with me, initiating conversation with me.
All right.
So you asked her out.
Yeah, I did.
Well, I didn't ask her out. I just asked her for her number to stay in contact with her at All right. So you asked her out. Yeah, I did. Well, I didn't ask her out.
I just asked her for a number to stay in contact with her at the time.
And then like maybe a week later, I had a flag football game.
So I invited her to it.
And she was like, yeah, sure.
So she came out.
So you wanted to impress her with your flag football skills.
Yeah, I hope so.
You know.
Did you guys go out after?
I mean, that's where the issue comes in because, I mean, we were supposed to.
I initially set it up.
I was like, okay, so come to the game afterwards.
Maybe we can go out, get something to eat and drink.
And she was like, oh, yeah, that sounds good.
Well, yeah, I was, yeah,
I'm glad that you guys agreed to go out after,
because just inviting her to come watch you play a sport.
Yeah.
I feel like that wouldn't necessarily be a great date for somebody. It doesn't allow you to connect with the person,
does it?
Yeah,
no,
no,
you're right.
You guys are absolutely right.
That's why,
I mean,
that's why I wanted to go out so I can have her undivided attention.
But I,
I mean,
after the game,
she's like, something came up, I got to run, I got to go. And I can have her undivided attention. But I mean, after the game, she's like, something came up.
I got to run.
I got to go.
And I'm like, OK.
How long was the game?
Was she just sitting there a long time?
Did you interact with her?
It was like literally about 45 minutes tops.
No, I gave her plenty of attention, man.
The guys were getting upset with me because I kept looking over at the bench, giving her
the googly eyes and doing little stupid stuff, you know, with her.
And so I was totally distracted that she was there.
So she got plenty of attention.
So you were saying that she had to, like, leave right afterwards and you haven't seen her talk to her since?
No, I've texted, I've called and nothing.
Okay.
How long has it been?
It's been like eight days now.
Okay.
And how many times have you reached out to her?
I was about four times a day.
Then I went down to three.
And the last three days, it's been once a day.
No, I'm just like being totally honest.
That's a lot.
That is honest, too.
Thank you.
That is a lot.
But you never know.
Maybe it doesn't bother.
I think that's...
Maybe it's because you play flag and don't play tackle.
Maybe that's it.
Maybe she wanted to see you hitting people.
Because real men hit people.
I'm a real man.
I just, you know, I'm playing
touch. Like football.
Yeah, I mean, I wonder why. So if you guys were supposed to go
out after the game, I wonder what could have
happened in that 45 minutes to make
her not go out with you after. We've had
people not go out because someone was like smelly
from working out with them. You think you were sweaty
and stinky? No, I mean the only thing, thing seriously i've been it's been driving me bonkers
we did have one pink uniforms so you're thinking that she's not calling you back because you had
pink on i don't know i i that's all i can't think of anything else yeah that seems like it would be weird. Maybe, like maybe
her ex plays on your team.
Oh yeah, you think about that?
Yeah, I don't really know everyone
personally on the team. I know them from
the team. Did she seem awkward
during the game, like if her ex
did play for the team? Not at
all. Dude, she was excited.
Like we had went out
before as if, I mean, she was, like, stoked to see me.
She was excited.
So, you know, I don't know if something happened personally with her.
I just don't know because it was weird.
Her whole demeanor had, like, totally changed.
Yeah, because she recognized Rex.
Yeah, exactly.
It was like, oh, my God, he looks so good.
I'm calling you guys for help, man.
Why are you guys?
Come on. I'm kidding. We for help, man. Why are you guys... Come on.
I'm kidding.
We'll try to figure it out for you.
We'll play a song and then come back and call her and see if we can find out the reason
she's not calling you back, okay?
All right.
All right, man, we'll do it next.
It's the Jubal Show.
We're in the middle of a first date follow-up
and if you're just joining us,
Chaz is on the phone
and Chaz isn't getting a call back
from a woman named Angel.
They met through mutual friends.
He invited her to come out to his flag football game so he could put on a clinic for her and show her how the game is played.
Anyway, they were supposed to go out after the game, but she bounced right after they were done and has not called him since.
It's been eight days.
He's texted her a bunch and has heard nothing.
And he's not sure what happened and why she's not calling back. So we're about to call
her right now and see if we can figure it out. Alright Chaz, you ready?
Yeah. Okay, I'm going to
dial her phone number and
away we go.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Angel, please?
This is she.
Angel, how are you?
This is the Jubal Show.
My name is Jubal.
My name is Alex.
My name is English Evan.
Hello.
It's a radio show.
Have you ever heard of it?
Yeah, I have. I don't listen, but I've heard of Jubal though
sorry about that
yeah it's a radio show
and somebody who listens to our show
actually emailed us about you and that's why we're calling
okay
do you have any idea who that would be
well I kind of
well
I guess it was kind of well well I guess
it was kind of a date
yeah
name was Chaz
it's Chaz
Chaz emailed us
and is wondering
why you're not calling him back
well
did he tell you
about the date
where we went
and what he did
and how
you know he was playing
he invited me to play
to watch him play flag football.
Yeah, he told us that.
He said that he met you like in a friend, like a group of friends,
and then hit you up, invited you to his flag football game,
and you were supposed to go out after, but ended up not going out,
and you left right after the game.
That's pretty much all he told us and all he knows.
And he's confused.
So he's wondering if we can get the information out of you.
That's what happened.
I watched, I saw, and I was not interested.
Why?
I don't want to be mean.
But, I mean, why invite somebody to watch you play a sport
when you have, like, no athletic ability whatsoever?
Oh, that is mean.
So he was just bad?
No, but, I mean, I don't know.
Maybe he's clueless.
He's a terrible player.
He's terrible.
He has, like, absolutely no athletic ability.
He can barely, like, hold on to the ball.
So you're not going to call him back because he's not athletic?
No, I really like sports.
I mean, he met me at a baseball game.
It sounds like he likes sports too.
Sounds good because he plays a sport.
Well, he doesn't really
play a sport. He likes sports.
Did you like him before you saw him
play flag football?
Before I saw him not play flag football?
Yeah, whatever you want to call it.
He was nice enough at that point, but it didn't, but, you know, after that, it started to go
back, you know, I mean, he lost some of his charm when I saw him play.
Wow.
Are you trying to breed, like, super kids?
Is that what's going on here?
And you don't want, you know, Chaz isn't fitting the bill?
No, I just don't want to
go to the comedy game.
Are you an athlete or something?
It was bad. It was really bad.
It was really bad. It was like, why would
you ever do that?
Why have an audience?
Wow.
I've never heard anyone be like this about sports before.
You never know. You never know.
He could be a great dude.
But just because he doesn't play flag football well doesn't mean that he's like,
couldn't be a really good.
It's not even that he doesn't play well.
He just has like absolutely, I'm surprised he doesn't trip when he's walking.
He has like no, absolutely no athletic ability whatsoever.
So how did he get on the team then?
Oh, I think he probably started it.
You know, maybe that'll help.
Maybe he started the team.
You don't even want to give him a shot because of how he plays flag football.
I can't get around that.
You should have seen him.
It was really more than laughable.
I mean, it was, whew, I was glad the game was over.
Well, I wonder if he knows that.
Because he's actually on the phone and wants to talk to you.
What?
Oh, man.
Hey.
Hey?
Really?
I mean, you have no idea.
I'm not saying I'm the best athlete in the world, but really?
Please don't say that.
I have no idea why I was running.
I mean, first of all, I was excited you were there.
I was distracted.
But I won't even get into my hamstring and groin issues that I have.
Whatever, man.
Don't get into that.
I mean, why did you invite me if you had all those issues?
Because I wanted to spend time with you and get to know you as a person,
not as an athlete.
I didn't know you were trying to get somebody for the Olympics or for the
NFL.
Had I known that,
I mean,
you could have just invited me to,
to something else,
not to like,
you know,
witness your,
your,
your injuries and your inability to be athletic.
That,
that didn't go over well.
That's just it though.
I wasn't making any excuses.
That's why I didn't mention it.
I'm,
I'm lost though,
that you did mention it just now. You said, I just, I mentioned it, but I didn't mention it. I'm lost though that you did mention it just now.
You did mention it. I just now mentioned it, but I didn't make any excuses ahead of time. I'm lost
that you would allow that freaking play in a sport not to get to learn to know me as a person,
as a human being. That's absurd. Are you aware of how unathletic you are? Just let me know that for sure.
Are you aware?
Of course.
I was not trying to pull anything further, yes.
It was all injury-based.
It was all because you have injuries,
or are you just going to be sincere
and say I'm just not athletic?
What does it have to do with anything?
I mean, yeah, I'm an athlete.
Well, it has to do.
Well, that's what I want to know.
I'm interested.
But listen, though. Now you an athlete. Well, it has to do. Well, that's what I want to know. I'm interested. But listen, though, it's not even worth it.
Now you know me.
Now you know me.
So this probably wasn't going to work anyway.
This was the best thing to happen, I assure you.
Yeah.
I'm disappointed you couldn't be human enough to have told me this over the phone or text.
Okay.
Thanks for calling.
What's your name?
Jubal?
Thanks. Yeah, that's me. Before you go. Hey, text. Okay, thanks for calling. What's your name? Jubal? Thanks.
Yeah, that's me.
Before you go, hey, before you go, before you go, can I ask you would you like to go on another date with Chaz?
We'll pay for it. Oh, he just insulted me.
Oh man, this is inhuman.
I didn't say he wasn't a nice guy. I just said that
that is what I witnessed. How do you even
know if I'm a nice guy? That's the whole point.
I wanted to get to know you.
You can't be a nice guy if you're not an athlete, Chaz.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I forgot.
I'm sorry.
You're right.
All right.
Am I done, guys?
Because I got other things to do.
For sure.
I mean, am I lost?
Is flag football in the Olympics?
Do you get paid for that?
I'm lost.
No, I think it's just a fun game that people play to kill some time on a weekend
afternoon. I think
I would prefer her say it was because of the
pink uniform. I don't know, man. Wow.
Really? Well...
Now, I'm tainted. I can't even
invite anybody else to a football game now.
I'm nervous now. You'll never play
again. Wow, guys.
Man, I thank you guys, though. Man,
thank you very much.
Yeah, lucky you. OKs, friends of Katie's to help me out, like Ezra Klein, Jen Psaki, Astead Herndon.
