This is an iHeart podcast.
On the latest episode of Next Question with me, Katie Couric, I sat down with
Jasmine Crockett, Democratic representative of Texas.
She's holding out the fork for her party in one of the most conservative states
in the union. I think that ultimately who will become the Democratic nominee for
president will be someone that has been out there and has shown that they won't allow themselves to be punched and just say thank you.
Like they will punch back.
Listen to next question with me, Katie Couric on the iHeart radio app, Apple
podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
First date of follow-up powered by the advocates, injury attorneys
online at advocates law.com.
Oh man, she's back for another first aid follow up.
Selly sell. What's up?
How are you?
Hi, this is the last day.
Hey, it's not like, oh, it's a pain.
So we have you on again for and you're getting ghosted again, huh?
I mean, it's crazy out there.
OK, like you guys need to dust off these, like, scrubs.
Like, I am not having it.
I hear you.
They have, like, emerged.
They're back on the scene, and I'm not feeling it.
Like, I deserve my Jay-Z.
Like, I am, you know, I am the Beyonce of today,
and like, a young, up-and-coming Beyonce, essentially. Like a young up and coming Beyonce essentially.
I love that.
Self-proclaimed.
So last time you were on, the guy was ghosting you because you made out with another guy
in the club, but you thought you were kissing him.
Oh my God, whatever.
Like he totally disappeared.
And like I, it was, it was dark.
There were like strobe lights and I had glitter in my eyes. I could like barely even see.
I'm like, I don't know.
They kind of smelled the same.
And then he like called me and like, he's upset, but like he left me.
Like, what was I supposed to do?
Like just be alone and like not enjoy myself.
Like, what do you want me to do?
And now you want us to call a guy named Brandon?
Yes, please.
So what's up with that?
Okay. You want us to call a guy named Brandon? Yes, please. So what's up with that? Okay, so we went to this amazing food festival
and it was perfect.
Like every bite was flirtatious, you know?
It was like, act just like, yeah, like, like sensual,
you know?
Even with like, like dumplings, you know,
and like hot chicken.
I was making it super slow, you know?
And then they had this like big, stupid, boring thing you eat like a caveman, you know what like hot chicken. And I was thinking, you know, and then they have this like big,
stupid for me, like a caveman.
You know what I mean?
And it was just like it was hot.
It was like messy, but hot, you know, like territory.
And I mean, he was a gentleman.
I was so taken back, you know, like he even offered me a napkin for my corn
because like the juice fell over my face.
And it was like low-key gross.
And he was a gentle gentleman and like kind of dabs the quarter of a foot in the house.
What a dave.
And he, yeah, he was sweet and he was looking out and you know, he just had like a quiet
confidence and he gives off this vibe like a journal and I take care
of my cuticles, you know, like that kind of energy.
Okay.
So like, I'm like, okay, keep his hands clean.
You know, that's actually important in the bedroom.
Like girls might understand that.
Like wash your hands.
Wash your hands.
Amen.
So I liked that.
And you know, I just like, I really needed that that night. So he just like brought that calming, soothing, you know, sanitized energy that I kind of
needed.
Everybody needs a little sanitized energy.
So what could have gone wrong?
It sounds like you guys are having a great time.
Okay.
Well, I might have gotten a little carried away, you know, it's like opposite the track
kind of thing. Like, like he, so he was kind of, he was being a little like shy and reserved.
And I took that as like, you know, maybe like come hither, you know, and
my vibe was more like flirty and I'm a toucher.
Like I, I touch, you know, I, that's one of my love languages.
Like I love physical touch and they were sitting in line for empanadas
and I kind of, kind of grabbed his butt.
Like I was just being playful and it was more like,
it was like two handed affirmation of interest.
And then I went in for a kiss and you know,
then we have this like public make out session. I mean, it wasn't crazy.
It was just like passion with true dust, you know, there was like, you know, it's just
like, it was beautiful.
It was magical.
And I just, I don't know, I guess I'm honestly confused because I thought things were amazing
and like fun and it's been like two weeks. So I mean, I apologize for being so grabby, but I was just
so excited, you know, and I guess maybe like he, I don't know, he wanted to take it slow.
I mean, I want to take it slow. I'll take it slow.
Okay. Okay. And that's why you think he might be ghosting you is because it got a little grabby.
Maybe I was like, maybe too much hands on affection. Maybe it was the double hands maybe he needed just like one
hand. Yeah like we needed a safe word. Yeah I mean I felt like he was okay with what was
happening you know. Okay all right we'll play a song come back and then call him
and see if the hands were the reason that you're
getting ghosted in just a second. Right. Yeah. Okay.
We'll get your first day follow up next.
I think Democrats have for a very long time,
allow Republicans to play them.
So essentially Republicans came up with a narrative and Democrats decided to
play into
that and that only hurt the Democrats.
I'm Katie Couric.
Jasmine Crockett, Democratic representative of Texas, is not known for holding back.
And our recent chat on Next Question is no exception.
But when you hear how she got to where she is, her intensity makes perfect sense.
It's just hard to imagine a world where you don't have enough people that care to do right by people.
And so that same passion that carried me through as a public defender, that led me
to want to change laws and thinking about the harm that will happen, not just to my
constituents, but just to my constituents,
but just generally, like I carry that weight with me because you've seen it up close.
Yeah.

Right in the middle of your first date, follow up. and if you're just joining us, a repeat customer
is on the phone.
Her name is Celeste, but she calls herself Celie Cell and she was on the show before
for a first date follow-up, but now she's getting ghosted by a guy named Brandon.
So we're going to see if we can figure out why he's ghosting her in just a second.
But first, Celie Cell, why don't you tell us about your date again real quick and why
you think you're not getting called back.
Yeah.
Hey guys, it's Sally Saul. I went to this food fast with this like super adorable,
cute, clean cut kind of guy and like I just think maybe my PDA might have done too much for him,
but like he was giving the vibes that he was totally okay with it on the date and then
I kind of like squeezed his butt and maybe that was too much. I don't know if I need to like keep my hands to myself, but it's been two weeks and I apologize,
but I don't know.
Maybe I was just a little too handsy.
I feel like some guys like that.
So that's kind of, we'll see.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like his mom.
Yeah.
I mean, if somebody, if I was into somebody somebody I wouldn't mind it
All right, let's try to figure it out for you, okay, you ready for us to call him. Yeah. Yeah, all right here we go
Hello hi, man speak to Brandon,? Uh, speaking, who is this?
Hey, Brandon, how are you?
This is the Jubal Show, it's a radio show.
Hi Brandon, I'm Nina.
And my name is Jubal, what's up, how are you?
Uh, I'm doing, I'm doing well.
What, what, what is this?
What, what shows us?
It's called the Jubal Show, it's a radio show.
Okay.
And, uh, we do a segment on our show It's called the first date follow-up that is where if you go somebody the person that you ghosted can email us
Asking to call you to see if you'll tell us why you're ghosting them and we got an email about you
Okay, do you have any idea who would email us?
us? Uh, yeah.
Yeah, I got Celeste.
Okay, yes, it is Celeste.
Celeste emailed us, we talked to her a little bit about your date, but she says you're ghosting
her and she doesn't understand why, so would you mind telling us why?
Yeah, the date was going great and then she insulted me while I was eating corn on the
cob and then she tried to seduce me with her hands down my pants.
Oh, in this in broad daylight, like right in front of the truck.
That's kind of a vehicle truck.
I know that kind of works out.
Now, she insulted you while you were eating corn on the cob.
She did. And I think she laughed at like how I eat corn. Like she called me dainty
and then like tried to apologize by like getting very handsy. And I asked her to stop and she
like giggled like it was a game. And then like, then she like chased me.
Chased you around the festival?
Yeah.
Like how?
Like trying to get away from her cause she kept on putting her hands down my pants and
I was just like, get away from me.
And it was getting awkward because I was like, stop.
And she just kept on doing it and kept on following me with that.
And that's why you're ghosting her?
Yeah.
I mean, it was just, it was really awkward.
It was super awkward. I mean, it was it was just it was really awkward. It was super awkward.
It sounds like it was.
Brandon, that was not teasing.
Like rude.
That was sort of tedious pursuit.
Like it was hot and we're into it.
Like, hello.
Have you ever played tag before?
Like this is just like adult tag.
Brandon, that's Celeste.
She's actually on the phone and wants to talk to you.
Yeah, I'm here.
I heard everything you said.
I heard it all.
Rude.
You tackled me next to a funnel cake stand.
Screaming.
Wait, what did she do, Brandon?
You tackled me next to a funnel cake stand and people were like screaming.
I was playing with you.
Like you were running and like having fun with it like that's not rejection
that's foreplay I was like chasing in you were like ha ha like laughing and it was like an
invitation for me to like get closer and like chase you like what like why are you leading me on
then like why are you playing into it I wasn't I was looking back to see if I needed to duck Celeste
I was looking back to see if I needed to dump Celeste.
You tried to stick your hands in my jeans in line behind a family of four
and were screaming so I said, I quote,
so we so is going to get you.
I go by my stage name often. That's not unusual.
Like this is Sally.
So and you acted like that wasn't the most exciting thing that happened you all you're like
It was
Wow well listen with with Sally's all there's always excitement, okay, so get ready and I
Brandon please please don't walk away from us
Please because if you if you are looking for a good time,
like Sally Sel will bring it,
and I am not afraid to bring the party, okay?
So if you can't handle it, then you don't deserve us.
Sally Sel, whatever, you're fun, okay?
You are definitely fun.
But I am not built for your brand of
whatever the hell that was.
So thank you, but no thanks.
Well, hold on, Brandon, would you like another day with Celeste?
We will pay for it.
Hmm.
Well, that is tempting.
I died.
I like my meals and my gates calm and fully closed.
Call me crazy. That's just me.
And honestly,
I did not get the silly cell is going to get you out of my head.
It is just haunting me and I just can't, I'm sorry.
Wow. I can't wait to have you in your dreams.
So just know that you missed out on a lifetime of spontaneous space.
And, um, I mean, I guess
questionable public behavior, but like that's up to you to determine.
Your fate has been determined now. I feel very much at peace with this decision.
OK, whatever.
I you know what?
There is a line of men waiting for me who can handle this whole snack and us not at
the same time.
So.
All right.
Celeste, I'm sorry it didn't work out, but another one bites the dust.
Yeah, you're going to be all right.
Yeah, I guess another chump bites the dust, whatever.
