Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. On the latest episode of Next Question with me, Katie Couric, I sat down with Bernie Sanders. We've talked many times over the years, and today he even throws a few questions my way. Are you ready for another question? Go ahead. Hit me, Bernie.
Starting point is 00:00:20 We talk about the billionaire class, the cost of living, and of course, the government shut down. Listen to next question with me, Katie Couric, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, America's sweetheart Johnny Knoxville here. I want to tell you about my new true crime podcast, Crimeless, Hillbilly Heist, from Smartless Media, Campside Media, and Big Money Players. It's a wild tale about a gang of high-functioning nitwits who somehow pulled off America's
Starting point is 00:00:54 third largest cash heist. Kind of like Robin Hood, except for the part where he steals from rich and gives to the poor. I'm not that generous. It's a damn near inspiring true story for anyone out there who's ever shot for the moon, then just totally muffed up the landing. They stole $17 million and had not bought a ticket to help him escape. So we're saying like, oh God, what do we do? What do we do? That was dumb.
Starting point is 00:01:22 People do not follow my example. Listen to Crimless, Hillbilly Heist, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I live below a cult leader, and I fear I've angered her. Wait a minute, Sophia. How do you know she's a cult leader? Well, Dakota, luckily it's I'm not afraid of a scary story week on the OK Storytime podcast. So we'll find out soon. This person writes, my neighbor has been blasting music every day and doing dirt rituals.
Starting point is 00:01:51 And now my ceiling is collapsing. I try to report them, but things keep getting weirder. I think they might be part of a cult. Hold up. A real life cult? And what is a dirt ritual? No clue, Dakota. Find out how it ends. Listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the Iheart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:02:06 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, everybody, it's snacks from the trap nerds. All October long, we're bringing you the horror. We're kicking off this month with some of my best horror games to keep you terrified. Then we'll be talking about our favorite horror and Halloween movies. figuring out why black people always die further. And it's the return of Tony's horror show, SideQuest written and narrated by yours truly.
Starting point is 00:02:29 We'll also be doing a full episode reading with commentary. And we'll cap it off with a horror movie Battle Royale. Open your free I-Hard radio app and search trap nurse podcast. And listen now. First date of follow-up. Powered by the advocates injury attorneys. Online at Advocateslaw.com. Connor is on the phone today for a first-day follow-up,
Starting point is 00:02:50 and he's getting ghosted by a woman named Gia. So we're about to call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him a second date. But first we have to find out about the date. Connor, how long has it been since you talked to you? It's been a little over a week, and I've tried everything. I've tried calling, texting, you know, the works. Okay, well, that's a frustrating feeling.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Maybe she lost her phone. That would be a good explanation. Right? This looks going to be hopeful. Why don't you tell us about your date? okay so we did something that's i don't know i guess it's a little quirky um it was a scavenger hunt at the art museum downtown and basically you like download this app right and it gives you all these clues and like riddles to solve and you basically like run around finding the stuff like
Starting point is 00:03:41 you know the ugliest statue or the most romantic painting and we were like when we started i was like, you know, do you ever watch, like, amazing race or any of those, like, reality shows? And she was like, yeah, that's, yeah, I love those, I love that stuff. So I was like, me too. Let's, like, pretend we're on one of those. So, um, I don't know. There was like a lot of playful banter and conversation. Some of those conversations got, like, pretty deep.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Um, and we were like, it felt very, like, easy and intimate because we were doing things like we were sharing our earbuds to listen to the audio tour and we're like, we kept making front of how the like narrator sounded very dramatic so I don't know we were just having fun you know yeah and it seemed like she was super into it too oh totally it was easy we were it to me it was like we were in our own bubble like um even at one point like we sat we were sitting and we found this like weird abstract sculpture that was on the like scavenger hunt and we just sat there and Before I knew it, I looked at my watch and 40 minutes had passed. We had just been like talking and I don't know, like, you know, that kind of, when something like that happens, it just feels like you clicked and it doesn't happen that much.
Starting point is 00:04:56 So I really felt like we clicked. Yeah. Okay. So why do you think you're getting ghosted? Well, that's it. I don't know because I guess I've never had a date that I would actually describe as, like, fun. I feel like I meet a girl. I go out on like the obligatory.
Starting point is 00:05:15 a coffee date we have small talk or there's like an awkward dinner where you're wondering oh am i paying for this or we splitting it like it's just so awkward and and this was not any of that it's kind of like we were i don't know we were on like a little adventure you know yeah and and i think the part that was like i'm not trying to sound corny or anything but like the part that was most attractive is that I got to see her brain at work, you know, like how she solves stuff and like how she thinks and how she approaches
Starting point is 00:05:48 the world and I was just very, very attracted by what I saw. Yeah, you're into her. We can definitely tell you're into her. I am. It's weird. Like, she even made this super dry joke about modern art that like
Starting point is 00:06:04 no one else would have caught and I to this like a week later I'm thinking about it every single day. like the joke like replays in my head and I'm like I don't know it's just so smart you know you don't run into someone who's like as attractive but also so interesting and so easy to have fun with yeah are you smart too because I mean if we're thinking about what could have gone wrong I don't know like if she's super intellectual and you can't think of anything like there weren't even any awkward moments I didn't have any and like I'd like to think that I'm pretty
Starting point is 00:06:38 smart, which is why I'm always looking for intelligence as, like, a part of the package. So, no, I mean, I don't think that would be it. I would be pretty surprised if she didn't find, like, you know, she didn't feel like I was keeping up. Okay. Well, we'll see if we can figure it out for you then. We'll play a song. Come back, call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting you or if she lost her phone.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And then maybe get you a second date, okay? Thanks. I appreciate that. All right. We'll play a song, come back, and get your first date follow up next. On the latest episode of Next question with me, Katie Couric, I sat down with Bernie Sanders, who is 84 years old, has spent 34 years in Congress, and he can still pack a rally with people a quarter of his age. Denver, 34,000 people come out, Salt Lake City, 20,000 people out, you know, huge turnouts. People are really dissatisfied about the status quo.
Starting point is 00:07:34 His fighting oligarchy tour with AOC and other young progressives has become a movement, but is his message too far to the left? Well, he certainly doesn't think so. Is that sound like a radical idea, Katie? Is that too far left for you? Okay, okay. I get your point, Bernie. We talk about the billionaire class, the cost of living, and of course the government
Starting point is 00:07:58 shutdown, not to mention the current state of the Democratic Party. To me, the failure of the Democratic Party. party has been an unwillingness to recognize the relationship. Open your free I-Heart Radio app. Search next question with Katie Couric and listen now. I've never done a
Starting point is 00:08:16 live recording before. I've just never done it. This week on the right side, Chrissy Teigen, like you've never heard it before. I think I showed the messiness of life like even before kids. So like it was kind of a natural thing just to show every part of it
Starting point is 00:08:32 after kids too. From viral moments to real life motherhood. Chrissy opens up about what it means to live life out loud, even when it's hard. When Miles was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I remember feeling like, okay, I want to get this right for everybody that's depending on us. Chrissy talks about turning fear into advocacy, building community, and finding joy in a very full house. I had four kids for a reason.
Starting point is 00:08:59 I love the chaos of it. This live conversation is raw, funny. and full of heart. Don't miss it. Listen to the bright side on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I live below a cult leader, and I fear I've angered her. Well, wait a minute, Sophia.
Starting point is 00:09:20 You know she's a cult leader. Well, Dakota, luckily it's I'm not afraid of a scary story week on the OK Storytime podcast, so you'll find out soon. This person writes, My neighbor has been blasting music every day and doing dirt rituals, and now my ceiling is collapsing. I try to report them, but things keep getting weirder.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I think they may be part of a cult. Hold up, Sophia, a real-life cult? And what is a dirt ritual? No clue. But according to this person, contractors are tearing down the patio to find out what's going on with her ceiling and her neighbors are not happy.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Well, she needs to report them ASAP. She did! And now they've been confronting her in really creepy ways all the time. So, do we find out if this person survive? their neighborhood cult or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast
Starting point is 00:10:08 on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Right in the middle of your first date, follow-up, and if you're just joining us, Connor is on the phone, and Connor is getting ghosted by a woman named Gia, so we're about to call her and see if she'll tell us the reason she's ghosting him
Starting point is 00:10:25 and maybe get him a second date. But first, Connor, why don't you break down your date again real quick with Gia? Yeah, it was perfect, at least on my end, I thought she had fun. We went to the art museum downtown. We, like, downloaded this app where you can go on a scavenger hunt and solve riddles and, like, find different pieces of art.
Starting point is 00:10:43 And it was, it was everything I look for in a date. It was fun. It was easy to talk to her. We totally clicked. And, yeah, I just really feel like I got a glimpse into not only, like, not only her, but, like, I said, sounds kind of corny, but I am really into this girl. So I'm really hoping that there's some. I hope there's some fluke that, you know, as to why she's not, like, responding to me.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Okay. Are you ready for us to call her? As ready as I'll ever be. All right. Here we go. Hello. Hey, Gia. How are you?
Starting point is 00:11:31 This is the Jubal show. It's a radio show. Hi, Gia. I'm Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. And my name's Jubal. How are you? Hi. Good. Thanks. Do you know the show? Not like that well.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Okay. I don't remember submitting to anything, but, yeah, what's that? Well, I don't think you did, but we did get an email about you from somebody who listens to the show. That's why we're on the phone. Oh, cool. Who? Okay. You have the most chill attitude. I know. Well, we do a segment on the show that's called the first date follow-up.
Starting point is 00:12:06 That's where if you go out on a date with somebody and then you end up ghosting them, that person can have us call you to ask us why you're ghosting them. Who are you ghosting? So this is about Connor? Yes, it is about Connor. He said that he really liked you, thought your date was great, and is confused that it's been, you know, over a week now and you haven't responded to him. Do you mind telling us why?
Starting point is 00:12:29 yeah well oh my goodness um the date was fun like surprisingly fun he's you know clever and charming but also he was just a lot like what does that mean well you know how people can just like there's a line of like too much sometimes at first we were clicking and like i thought it was you know cute how into the scavenger he wasn't you know I love, like, interactive things and games and everything, but he kept making, like, literally everything into a bit just the whole time, like, narrating the date in a, oh, God, the worst fake British accent I've ever heard. You know, it's cute the first time, but not, like, you know, an hour later. And then, you know, trying to solve clues that, like, weren't even, you know, part of the game and, you know, high-fiving strangers. is like not everyone is into this dude you know you're high-fiving strangers
Starting point is 00:13:29 I mean that's kind of a warm energy no yeah I mean like this old guy just kind of looked at him weird which actually was pretty funny but then he like he climbed up on a fountain to like look for another clue I don't know he set off his emotional arm and this what's their thing
Starting point is 00:13:48 like a docent uh huh yeah yeah like he got into like an argument with him and like they were threatening to like call security he was arguing about whether this like you know I see it in different TV shows where it's like a banana or a fire extinguisher or something just like on the wall whether that counts as art you know like having this debate about modern art and it was just like I feel like those two is able just kind of like explain it the best it was just like chaotic energy and I was just um like at first I was excited but then by the end I was just exhausted
Starting point is 00:14:25 wait wait that's why you ghosted me because I was too fun hey Gilles that's Connor Connor's on the phone oh my god oh my god you guys didn't tell me she was on here you didn't say anything at the time I mean you were laughing and we were having a really good time we're having fun we were but then I also laugh when I'm stressed like a nervous you know like I'm not going to tell someone I barely know like how to not act when they're having fun and yes some of it was fun and funny but then I was just like I didn't feel safe leaving you unsupervised in public I feel like I should have had one of those backpacks to the least on or something listen yeah I wasn't trying to be extra I just I really liked you I was nervous so I leaned into the jokes because if I felt easier than, like, being awkward or quiet or, like, too serious.
Starting point is 00:15:25 I get that. However, it's, like, okay to be quiet for a little bit in a museum, you know? There wasn't any room for just, like, being and, like, stopping and observing. It was just, like, on to the next, onto the next. It was, like, being stuck in an improv show. Well, look, I know I can be a lot, but, like, on that date, I swear I was not putting on a show. I was genuinely having one of the best dates I've ever had in my life. life and I was just so surprised and it was so refreshing that you were so smart and funny and you
Starting point is 00:15:56 you made art to me feel like less pretentious so I just didn't want it to end yeah he loves your brain okay well that's really sweet actually um thank you I mean listen I'm not looking for you to change your vibe or anything like if you're camomile that's great but I don't know Camamil and espresso. Espresso can work together, balance each other out or whatever, right? I was so lost. I was so lost in a second, so you're espresso? I mean, I do like lavender more than chamomile, but what you want to be a latte? Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. See, I can be a whole damn macchiato if you'll let me.
Starting point is 00:16:42 What do you think, Gio, you want to let him be a macchiato? Would you go on a new date with Connor and we'll pay for it? Some sweet talk. Yeah. It was some macchiato. Oh, I mean, okay, let me think. I appreciate that. I want to see.
Starting point is 00:16:54 I do. I did have a good time, minus the part where I thought we were going to get banned from the museum forever. I will not climb on fountains. I will not climb on fountains, I swear. I will not get in fights with the dothin, and there will be no fake accents. And high fives. No high. Unless, like, maybe our next state is maybe signing up.
Starting point is 00:17:18 for an improv show or something. I mean, I think you should give, we should give it one more shot. Yeah. You will? You will. Yeah, because even today, it made me laugh. Yay.
Starting point is 00:17:31 All right. Okay. Congratulations. This is awesome. Oh, yes. This is exactly how I hope this would go. This is great. Okay, well, I'll text you,
Starting point is 00:17:42 and we can go get those lattes and plan the next thing. Cool. Just let me know when, and I won't be latte. What? What does that mean? Like late. Like latte, late. I don't see late.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Jubil's first date follow-up. On the latest episode of next question with me, Katie Couric, I sat down with Bernie Sanders.
