First date follow-up.
Patrick is on the phone for a first date follow-up
and apparently the girl that he went out with
he went out with because
her mom wanted him to.
Wow. And before
we get into all the details of that, Patrick, how
long has it been since you heard from Shannon, the girl that you went out with?
It's been almost two weeks now.
Oh, that's a while.
Yeah, it is. And how many times have you reached out to her?
I don't know. I was trying to not be too creepy.
Yeah, especially since you know her mom. That might be a good idea.
Yeah, exactly.
Okay, so your email said that her mom set you up.
How did that happen?
So we actually work together.
Well, she's my boss, technically.
What do you do?
I run like all the social media for her mom's business.
Oh, cool.
Like in the marketing, yeah.
Actually, that's a good sign
that her mom would want you to date her daughter
because she knows how you are at work.
Professionally.
Professionally, if you're responsible, if you get things done, if you're respectful.
Yeah.
Yeah, she was actually really aggressive about this.
A lot of?
To be honest.
She would bring it up a lot, all the time.
And now her daughter's ghosting you.
Have you talked to your boss about it?
No, I haven't. I've actually
just been avoiding her at work because I'm afraid of the awkward conversation that she like will
ask me about. I'm sure she was excited for you guys to like be going out. Yeah. Oh, she was
ecstatic. I mean, what happened was her daughter came in one day to the office and, you know,
I finally met her in person and I heard a lot about her from her mom and we
ended up actually like exchanging numbers and you know right off the bat we actually did get along
and I was really surprised she was like really pretty really cool really funny um you know I
thought it went really well um now I'm just wondering like what the deal is like I mean
if she's not feeling it that's fine but at least I'd like some closure, at least so I can stop avoiding my boss at work.
Yeah. Well, I know you're here to maybe get a second date with Shannon, but have you thought
about Shannon's mom? Maybe that's the problem.
Whoa, that could be it. Shannon's mom got jealous.
Yeah, I don't think I'm Kathy's type.
Okay. So what did you guys do for the date?
Oh yeah.
So I picked her up and we went to like a really,
really nice restaurant.
And then we went out for some drinks afterwards at like a really like hip
bar,
you know?
And it was great.
Like the night went awesome.
I thought anything weird at all.
Yeah.
I mean,
overall the day went really well.
I think the only thing I could think of is that her mom was just
being as aggressive towards her as
she was towards me with going out
with me.
So I think maybe that could have scared
her off. Maybe she just went out with you because her
mom was telling her to. Yeah, maybe she
ultimately doesn't like you
and is like, I did it, Mom. I went out with him, but I
don't like him, so you can stop asking about it.
So you didn't get the vibe
that she really liked you on the date?
I mean, it was a good first date.
I think she had a good time.
I don't know if she was like,
wants to marry me.
Sometimes when you're feeling it a lot,
the other person is just kind of being nice
to get through the date, you know?
Yeah.
Typically, you can tell if there's chemistry
from the other person.
Yeah, we didn't have to go out
for more drinks after dinner, and she did.
So it seemed like she wasn't into me.
Well, that's a good sign.
She wasn't trying to get away from you right away.
Like, oh, well, you look at that.
I know the appetizer just came,
but man, I am tuckered out.
I'm tired.
Yeah, exactly.
So did you pick her up
or did you guys meet at the restaurant?
No, I picked her up. Oh? No, I picked her up.
Oh.
Yeah, I picked her up.
That's why she couldn't get away.
That's a big deal.
Not that I'm a paranoid person at all,
but do you think that maybe her mom wanted to set her up on a date with you
because her mom is your boss and she just wanted to see if you speed
and pay and adhere to all the traffic rules
because she wanted to see if you're maybe a criminal
or a rule breaker or not.
So she wanted to see if you're breaking any rules at work.
Not that I'm paranoid, but maybe that happens.
Wow.
I don't know.
That's an elaborate plan just to tell somebody the criminal.
Yeah, Patrick, that definitely isn't the reason.
Maybe she had you pick her up
so she could put little recording devices in your car
so that her mom, who's your boss,
could hear and see every single move that you make to know if you're being a good employee or not would she want to do that
because i'm paranoid about one very paranoid do you think that happened um definitely not i know
every inch of my car i love my car if somebody did anything i would have definitely noticed
okay well we'll try to figure it out for you we'll play a song come back and then call her
and get your first date follow-up okay all right cool all right we'll do it next you're just joining us for
today's first date follow-up patrick is on the phone and patrick went on a date with the boss's
daughter oh and now he's getting ghosted by the boss's daughter he went out with a girl named
shannon and he works for her mom and her mom was bugging him to go out with her. But now Shannon
isn't calling him back. He thought everything was fine
and doesn't know why. So we're
about to call her and see if we can figure it out for him.
Alright Patrick, any last words before I make this phone call?
No, I just
really want to know what's up.
Alright, cool. Here we go. I'm going to dial her phone right now. Hello? Hi, may I speak to Shannon, please? Yeah, this is her. Hi, Shannon. This is the Jubal
Show. My name is Jubal. Hello, this is Alex Fresh. Hello, this is English Evan. I don't know who you
guys are. What are you guys calling for?
Okay, so you don't know who we are.
Well, I'll explain it to you.
It's a radio show.
It's called The Jubal Show, and it includes me.
My name is Jubal Fresh.
And it includes me.
My name is Alex Fresh.
And it includes me.
My name is English Evan.
And right now it includes you.
Your name is Shannon.
Whatever your last name is.
Oh, okay.
Shannon, I know it's kind of weird.
We're calling you because we do a segment on our show called The First Date Follow-Up.
It's where if you go out on a date with someone and then end up not calling them back,
they can get us to call you and figure out why.
And you recently went out with someone, and now you're ghosting them,
and they have been crying about it at home for weeks, and they want to know why.
Do you know who you're speaking about?
Oh, is this about Patrick?
It is about Patrick.
Ding, ding, ding.
You nailed it.
I don't really, I mean,
have you really been crying about this?
He didn't tell us that he's been crying about it.
I just assumed.
It is possible.
I have no idea.
He said it's been two weeks, though,
since you guys went out
and you haven't responded to anything from him
and he wants to know why.
I added the crying part.
He seems like a crier.
Yeah, but he does seem like a crier to me.
We talked to him about your date.
Oh, wow.
That's kind of weird.
Yeah.
You know, he reached out to us
and he knows that there could be, you know,
something he might not want to hear.
So he's ready for it.
Okay.
Are you ready for it?
So I guess, well, I was actually a little annoyed at first.
Because my mom kept telling me over and over again about how much of a great dude this guy was and that I had to get with him.
Like, she's borderline obsessed.
Yeah.
He was telling us about her.
Your mom, Kathy, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Your mom, Kathy.
And he works for your mom, which is kind of weird, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, that kind of put me off as well.
I mean, she was just really pushing it on me.
Like almost every day she was talking about how much of a good guy he was.
Has your mom tried to set you up with other people that have worked for her?
Not necessarily working for her, but she's definitely tried to set me up with quite a few men.
Does she just want like grandbabies or what's going on?
Yeah, she keeps telling me that she wants grandchildren and needs me to marry someone soon.
And I'm not really a crush.
Even my grandmother does that like even
she says you better get married before I die you went out with uh Patrick who works for your mom
and I'm guessing maybe he wasn't marriage material then since that's what your mom wants you to do
well I mean in the beginning he actually seemed really cool and like actually a really sweet guy, especially the whole time when I was texting him.
But it's I mean, we had a really good date and everything.
It's just there's a couple of things that really just set me off.
That you didn't like?
Well, he took me to a really nice restaurant, but it was when he picked me up he oh my gosh i think this
guy was more into his car than he was into me oh really what kind of car does he have
like a nissan gt something oh that car is dope it's so fast it's like a that's like a hundred
thousand dollar car too when i in, he used a lint
roller to lint roll my entire
body. What?
So that nothing would get in his car.
He lint rolled you?
Yes. And then
he made me put on those shoe covers
like the ones you put on in the hospital
before I got in. And then
when we went out to dinner, he literally put the
cover over his whole car.
Like, it made me feel like
he thought I was like a dirty person.
I would never drive with him
if I was in a relationship with him.
Sounds like he'd make out with the car
before he made out with you.
He even made me tie my hair up
so that my hair wouldn't get all over the car.
Maybe he has a girlfriend.
Oh.
That's what made me think.
That's just what...
Ding, ding, ding. There's like no signs of anything. I didn't even think about that at all. I car. Maybe he has a girlfriend. Oh. That's what made me think. That's just what... Ding, ding, ding.
There's like no signs of anything.
I didn't even think about that at all.
I'm like, ah, right there.
He has a girlfriend who works for a crime scene investigation unit.
I mean, I guess I didn't think of that one, but...
I feel like a dude like that buys a car that can go hundreds of miles an hour and they
drive it under the speed limit because they don't want to damage the engine.
They drive 40 miles an hour in a Lambo because they don't want to damage the engine.
Like they're constantly in a school zone.
Well, thank you for telling us.
Appreciate it.
Yeah, no problem.
Well, now I need to let you know
that you also told him
because he's listening to this conversation
and wants to talk to you.
Are you serious?
He's on the phone?
Yes, he is.
I forgot to tell you about that.
Now?
Right now. Oh my to tell you about that. Now? I'm sorry.
Right now.
Oh, my gosh.
Hey, Shannon.
Yeah.
Hey.
I don't have a girlfriend.
FYI.
Oh, that's good to know.
Yeah, it is.
So he just said he doesn't have a girlfriend.
I don't know if you heard him, Shannon.
So we got that out of the way.
Are you dating your car?
Ha ha.
Funny.
Yeah. Well, I wish you would have just told me this. You could have just texted me back. Are you dating your car? Ha ha funny yeah
Well I wish you would have just told me this
You could have just texted me back
Patrick you don't think that that
Would have been a reason why she's not calling you back?
No I mean
Well like cause I'd like to take care of
Like my stuff
Like I like to take care of my own
Did you really lint roll people before they get into your car?
Yeah, I mean,
you gotta keep it clean.
I'm gonna be cleaning it every day.
Maybe you should just give a forewarn. Be like, hey, can you just lint roll
yourself before you come? Also put your hair in a bun
with a net over it
and then just prepare
for these shoe things that I'm gonna put on your feet.
I mean,
nobody else seems to have a problem with it.
I don't see anything wrong with it.
Is it like a brand new car or maybe your dream car or something?
Yeah, it is.
Like, I worked really hard to get it and I want to take care of it.
I don't see a big deal with that.
I mean, I really don't think you had to go to the measure of lint rolling me.
Like, I don't think, I think that was unnecessary.
I mean, whatever.
I'll just tell your mom that you apparently don't like nice things and we're not seeing
each other anymore when she asked me in the office, I guess.
I mean, I thought you were nice, but maybe that's why this doesn't work out with other
girls in the past because you lint rolled them and made them wear shoe covers.
I got to ask the question anyway.
Shannon, would you like to go on another date with Patrick?
We'll pay for it.
Honestly, I'm really not interested just in the way he's acting.
He just doesn't really understand the situation.
Like at least if you're going to lint roll someone, at least be like, Hey,
do you mind just wiping yourself off real quick?
Don't like grab a lint roller and aggressively start vacuuming.
Yeah. You can call me ugly. You could say that you don't like my personality, but do not come near the car. Don't attack the car. This is just offensive to me.
