Listen to Pro Society on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
Starting point is 00:02:23 I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Tyler is on the phone today for a first date follow up, and he's getting ghosted by a woman named Christopher. us. So in a second, we'll call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him a second date. But first, Tyler, why do you think you're getting ghosted? If I'm honest with, I think it's because I actually called her mommy at the end of our date. You called your date mommy.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Spicey. Like, M-A-M-I, Mommy? I mean, not in a creepy way. It wasn't a mommy in a creepy way. It was, I mean, it was mommy. I don't know. Look, the date was actually great. We went to dinner and had drinks.
Starting point is 00:03:26 We laughed a lot. I definitely thought we were going to see each other again. But at the end of the night, Crystal ordered us an Uber because my phone, he was almost dead. And when I went to shut up, I went to Christmas like, thanks, man, thanks, Krista, but somehow what came out was, thanks, Mom. And, yeah, so obviously she started laughing and I was embarrassed,
Starting point is 00:03:50 but instead of just letting it go, I tried to correct myself, and that's when I something else said, But I mean, I mean, thanks, Mommy, which is so much worse. Yeah. Yeah. So she just stared at me and then just, like, started laughing even harder. And I spent the entire Uber right explaining that I don't call women mommy, which is apparently a sentence that only makes you sound more like a guy who calls women mommy.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Yeah. Yeah, if you're sitting there just over explaining the fact that you don't normally call women mommy, it makes it sound like you do that. You do, yeah. Exactly. And I really couldn't get myself out of it. And so, but she said to me when I got home, or when she got home, sorry, but
Starting point is 00:04:26 when I tried asking her out again the next day, she doesn't say anything. I haven't heard from her since. Okay. The mommy thing really does. It could have been it. Because whether you call her Mommy M-A-M-A-M-I or mommy, like, M-O-M-M-Y,
Starting point is 00:04:40 like that's an issue either way. I'm sorry. Maybe you'll recover. Yeah, I mean, it feels pretty tough, but I figured it was worth a shot. Tyler is on the phone, and he's getting ghosted by a woman named Krista, so we're about to call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him
Starting point is 00:04:59 and maybe get him a second date. But before we do that, Tyler, why don't you refresh our memory on why you think you're getting ghosted? Yeah, I accidentally called her mom. I tried to correct myself when I called her mommy, and that's probably, and then I didn't say anything cool after that to make it for it. So you just think that you called her mommy,
Starting point is 00:05:19 and that was too much for her. And I just left it as mommy in the lurch. And I tried to unexplain myself and it made it sound worse. So here we are. All right. Okay. Well, I'm in a dollar phone number right now and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting you. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Hi, may I speak to Krista, please? This is a show. This is a radio show. It's called The Jubal Show. Hi, Krista. I'm Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. And my name is Jubal.
Starting point is 00:05:48 What's up? Hi. How are you? I'm okay. Did I run something? No. Well, maybe. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:57 It depends how you look at it. But we do a segment on the show that's called the first date follow-up. That's where if you go out on a date with somebody and you end up ghosting them, that person can email us to get you on the phone and ask why you're ghosting them. And we got an email about you from somebody. Okay. Any idea who would email us? Well, the last date I went on was with a guy named Tyler.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Great. That's who emailed us. Would you mind telling us why you're ghosting him? He's very curious. Oh, well, did he tell you about how he kept secretly putting hot sauce on my food whenever I wasn't looking? Wait, what? No, he did. He was putting hot sauce.
Starting point is 00:06:37 That's what this is about? Stop it. No, he did. Hey, Krista, that's Tyler. He's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my God. Tyler.
Starting point is 00:06:47 You're putting hot sauce on her food without her looking? What are you doing? Yes. Yeah. Chrissy, you seriously ghost me over hot sauce? Yes, yes, because it was my food and you just, like, wouldn't leave it alone. And I know that you carry a little bottle of hot sauce and we're like, you know, this food needs help. But that doesn't mean that you can be putting, you know, food.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Like, you're like, dosing my food with hot sauce. And I mean, like, I just, like, I mean, I'm not even joking. When I went to the bathroom, I came back, my food is spiced here. You admitted to it. But then when I asked you about it again, after I'd, like, turn to look to the waiter and ask them for something, you were doing it again. And you, like, I mean, you act like you were doing me a favor. Look, it's not that, look, okay, for real, the first thing, though, is you said that you liked the food afterwards.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Like, I wasn't poisoning anything. It was hot salt. You're defending this. Thank you. Exactly. Oh, this is actually better. Like, after the first time, she said, oh, this is actually better. So the second time I thought I had established permission, you know, I was improving the meal for, I was giving her a better experience.
Starting point is 00:07:52 but you definitely did not you may have improved the food but you did not get permission okay not overtly not implied and yeah like sneaking the hot sauce into her food yes she said it tasted better the first time yeah the first time was a little bit of a risk
Starting point is 00:08:11 but I was like you know what she kept saying it needed help I think the food was just a little bit bland so you know I splashed a little bit on there she saw it I admitted to it so I put a little bit more because it needed a little bit more. I didn't get to put all of it that I needed to put on there. And I mean, she got a good result. I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Yeah, but it's just like not normal to just put something on somebody's food without asking, especially for a date. Like we have no, we have like not even established a rapport, okay? And the fact that you're arguing that just it was like, okay, because it tasted better in the end. Like you're, you're messing with somebody's food. She got, you have IBS. Yeah, she could have nominated to do that.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I mean, but nothing bad happens. I feel like you just got to get used to the fact. around me, things get elevated, you know? Things get elevated. Oh, Tyler, I'm seeing a flag and it's getting brighter. I mean, but, Krista, you admit it was better, though, right? Wasn't it better? Yeah, I admitted that it was better, but, like, you can't just be, like, retroactively
Starting point is 00:09:10 saying that, oh, but it improved your food. I would find that I, like, literally was, like, tampering with your food on our first date and expecting a second date from it. I just, no. Would you like to go out with Tyler again? We'll pay for it. We'll make sure that he doesn't bring any secret hot sauce or anything. Or he gets consent.
Starting point is 00:09:26 No. Yeah, or he gets consent before he splashes hot sauce on your food. You're saying no? No, I'm sorry. It was, you need just. No. It's a no for me. It's tampering with somebody's food and then telling,
Starting point is 00:09:40 and like gaslighting them into saying like, yeah, but it was better afterwards. You even admitted it? And then it says, uh, no. I mean, okay. So what's your address? I can just ship you a mini hot sauce model so that like next time whenever you go on your next date and the food's not up to par
Starting point is 00:09:55 you can just like sprinkle a little bit on there. Remember, because now I'm not allowed to help anymore, you know, so I mean, you could take it over. That's what you took away from that. Oh, man. I mean, I'm just trying to make some of my life better. I don't know what you want to get hotful. Your heart's in the right place.
Starting point is 00:10:09 I don't want hot anything from you, including your hot talk. Hi, this is Kylie Breakman. Angel Geratana. Jeremy Colhan, Patrick McDonald. And we're the hosts of the arts.
