Starting point is 00:00:01 Ugh, we're so done with New Year, New You. This year, it's more you on Bumble. More of you shamelessly sending playlists, especially that one filled with show tunes. More of you finding Gemini's because you know you always like them. More of you dating with intention because you know what you want. And you know what? We love that for you. Someone else will too. Be more you this year and find them on Bumble.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Consider this is a daily news podcast, and lately, the news is about a big question. How much can one guy change? They want change. What will change look like for energy? Drill, baby, drill. Schools? Take the Department of Education, close it. Health care?
Starting point is 00:00:44 Better and less expensive. Follow coverage of a changing country. Promises made, promises kept. We're going to keep our promises. On Consider This from NPR. Listen on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm so sick of hearing men talk about women's basketball. This is Lexi Brown.
Starting point is 00:01:03 And Mariah Rose. And we've got a new podcast, Full Circle. Every Wednesday, we're catching you up on what's going on in women's basketball. We've got you with analysis, insight stories, and a little bit of tea. Full Circle is an iHeart Women's Sports production in partnership with Deep Blue Sports and Entertainment. Listen to Full Circle on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:01:28 The new hits, 106.1. First date follow-up. You know, as a guy, when you're out on a date and your fly accidentally is left down, and by fly, I mean zipper, you have to go to the bathroom. Flying low. You can go one of two ways, right?
Starting point is 00:01:44 Either your date sees it and goes, wow, I have to have another date with this guy. Or they see it and go, wow, that's it? And Noah's on the phone for a first date follow up right now. Apparently he had an issue with his zipper. Oh, Noah. He thinks he might not be getting a call back because of it. We'll get to that in just a second. Noah, what's up? How are you? Hey, how's it going? Yeah, good. Pretty good. Not too bad. So you went out with a girl named Zoe? Yes. All right. And before we get to the zipper incident,
Starting point is 00:02:16 I want to hear about that. Yeah. Very badly, Noah. Tell us a little bit about Zoe. You know, everyone kind of has this checklist of the qualifiers that make them want to go on a second date and, you know, take it even further. You didn't literally show up with a clipboard with a checklist of things for her to check off. No, no, I left that in my car. Okay, good idea. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, she was funny. We had intellectual conversations as well.
Starting point is 00:02:50 So it just wasn't like fluff, and we were just talking about social media and pop culture. And so she just had a lot of good qualities. She was beautiful, first of all. And we just hit it off really well. Okay, well, tell us about the zipper thing. What happened with that? Yeah. We were having, tell us about the zipper thing. What happened with that? Yeah. We were having, it was like the first course. So we were having like our salad and bread and stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:17 And, uh, I, I went to put my napkin down on my lap and I noticed my zipper was down. So I tried to, I tried to just, you know, casually just try to zip in the seat. That's always the tough part. When your zipper's down and you notice it in public, the hard part is how do I do this without people noticing? Because usually people always notice. As soon as you put your hand on there, everybody looks for whatever reason. It's just the universe messing with you. Everybody looks down there and they see you zipping up your zipper.
Starting point is 00:03:45 So what happened anyway while you were trying to zip up your pants? So it, it was not working. Like the zipper was stuck on some material or something. So of course, right. During a date. Yeah. And I had to, I had to use the restroom. So it's like, if I have to get up and it's not working, Like what, what the heck am I doing? It looks super awkward for a first date. So I needed to go use the restroom and the napkin was still there. So I was just trying so hard to do this and finally I got zipped up. Uh, but however, I did not notice that a portion of the napkin got zipped up in it with it as
Starting point is 00:04:20 well. So when, when I went to stand up to go use the restroom, lo and behold, there was a napkin there as well. So when I went to stand up to go use the restroom, lo and behold, there was a napkin there as well. That's fun. I mean, at that stage, you might as well just be like, all right, date's over, bye. Or you could just be like, oh my God, my zipper was down. First of all, how long was my zipper down?
Starting point is 00:04:38 That's embarrassing. And then also, my napkin is stuck in here. Can you help me? Super awkward. So she obviously saw me get up. And so I had no choice, but I made a quick little joke about it. I was like, hey, you know, the napkin was down on my lap and I zipped it up. I noticed my zipper was down, got caught in there.
Starting point is 00:04:59 So, ha ha. This is awkward. So did you end up getting it out or did you take it home with you? Yeah. No. No, I turned around real quick and unzipped it and zipped it back up. Is that awkward moment the reason you think she's not calling you back now after your date? I mean, it could be.
Starting point is 00:05:20 I feel like she laughed it off with me, thankfully. I mean, was there really nothing else that you can think of? Nothing else at all? No. I mean, I tried to be original, romantic. And how long has it been since you've talked to her? Yeah, it was just last weekend. Okay, so a few days.
Starting point is 00:05:41 And did you guys end on good terms? Yeah, it went well. And she said, let's do this again. And I walked her to her car. And we didn't kiss or anything. But, you know, sent her on her way. All right. Well, we'll play a song, come back, and then call her and see if we can figure it out for you.
Starting point is 00:06:02 With your first day follow-up right after this, all right? All right. I think the only option is that Noah, Zoe thinks you're a perv. Call her and see if we can figure it out for you with your first date follow-up right after this, all right? All right. I think the only option is that Noah, Zoe thinks you're a perv. That's the only thing I can think of. Okay. That's the only thing I can think of. If you're just joining us, right in the middle of the first date follow-up, Noah is on the phone and he wants to call a woman named Zoe.
Starting point is 00:06:23 They went out on one date, went out to dinner. He thought everything was great and really liked her. The only reason that he can think of that he's not getting a call back though, is that he had one of those moments where his zipper was down because he forgot to zip it up after he went to the bathroom and he noticed it at the table and then he was trying to zip it up and without her noticing, which is hard to do. And then he accidentally zipped up his napkin in his pants. And then when he stood up, there was a napkin hanging out of the crotch area of his pants,
Starting point is 00:06:48 and he had to explain to her what happened. And my guess is she maybe thinks that your zipper wasn't down and that you were doing something weird. That's the only thing I can think of. Well, I mean, I hope it's not that. I really liked her. And yeah. Well, we'll call her right now and see if we can figure it out. Okay. All right. All right. All right. Here we go. Zip up.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Here we go. Hello? Hi, may I speak to Zoe? Who's calling? My name is Jubal. My name's Alex. My name's Igla Shevin. And this is The Jubal Show. Hello. What is
Starting point is 00:07:27 the Jubal Show? It's a radio show. Why are you calling me? Well, we're calling you because we do a segment on the show called the First Date Follow-Up. If you go out on a date with someone and then don't call them back, they can email us to get you on the phone and figure out what happened. So you recently went out on a date with someone who
Starting point is 00:07:43 does know the show. And who you're not calling back. Boom. So this must be about Noah. And he wants to know why you're not calling him back. Okay, well, what do you want to know? Well, I'll tell you what we do know. And then you can tell us what we should know. We talked to Noah about your date. He said he really liked you a lot. And he thought the date was great. He said that you actually told him at the end of it that you guys should go out again. And since then, he's tried to text you, but you've said nothing to him.
Starting point is 00:08:16 You pulled the old ghosty. And he thinks that the reason could be because his zipper was down on the date and he accidentally zipped up his napkin into it. Remember that? And maybe that was weird for you. Um, even though it was a little weird, but whatever happens, I guess. So that's not the reason? No, I, I mean, I haven't talked to him just because I need to like, kind of think about things a little bit. Well, what happened? I guess I just need to think about things a little more because like he was just, I mean, we had good conversations and stuff, but he was just like a little weird and corny. In what way? Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Corny.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Corny. Okay. With an H is a different word. Corny. Corny, okay. So we met at a restaurant for dinner, and we met out in the parking lot, and he kissed my hand. As like a hello? Yeah, as a hello. Is that weird? Is that weird?
Starting point is 00:09:19 You don't like that? Yeah, is that weird to do? I think so. I agree with you. I think that is kind of weird. I think it's kind of sweet. What? That's what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:09:27 I mean, like, if, like, somebody, like, a gentleman, like, takes your hand, like, hello, nice to meet you. On a first date? Why not? It's not that awkward. It's not that weird. It's like he's, like, a gentleman. I don't know. Maybe in, like, 1902 in France.
Starting point is 00:09:40 No, maybe because you're not a gentleman. That's what I was going to ask. So it's very split though because there are two like women on the phone Zoe, it was weird. You said it was weird for you. Alex says just she thinks it was romantic. So maybe he thought it was romantic. Right, which is
Starting point is 00:09:58 why I'm like just taking some time to think about things because on one hand you could think of it as a romantic gesture, but like he also, as we were entering and exiting the restaurant, like with the door, he did this like big grand gesture with his hand, like before opening the door for me.
Starting point is 00:10:15 So he kissed your hand and then opening the door, a grand gesture. Sounds like he thinks he's escorting a queen around or princess. Hello everyone. Madame Zoe has entered the restaurant. Clear the room. Is that what it felt like? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:33 It just felt like a little dishonest or ingenuous, like not genuine. I don't know. Like he was trying to be. Almost like he's making fun of the date, kind of. Or like he's trying to be romantic but just isn't he's missing the mark right trying to be romantic but missing the mark that's what it felt like so you feel like he was doing too much trying to be a gentleman or something or he's just corny and weird yeah but i'm not sure which all right well we can find that out pretty easily because
Starting point is 00:11:00 he's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you wait what yeah hey listening yeah uh so you i mean you didn't like any of that like i mean i was just trying to be gentlemanlike and romantic i thought you know women like that kind of stuff i I do. I mean, I think opening the door is like really nice, but just the way that you did that like grand gesture before opening the door made it feel like. What do you mean by grand gesture?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Did he play a trumpet? No, like his arm and then like extending it in this really like felt like dramatic way. I don't know it just seemed like that wasn't really you that sounds funny like a good sense of humor well i read that women like that kind of stuff oh they like big grand gestures i mean i know that women like to have the door opened or i don't know if they like to have their hands kissed at the beginning of a date though some could see that as weird. I think that's cute, you guys.
Starting point is 00:12:07 I think you're a one-off. I don't know. You know, it's just it's been a while. And I just Googled ways to be romantic. And that one felt natural to me. So, I mean, was it that bad, Zoe? I don't know. It just didn't feel like it was really coming from you.
Starting point is 00:12:29 And, like, I want to date somebody who's true to themselves and not, like, fake. And so then I was, like, confused. You know what I mean? I mean, maybe it was a bit over the edge. But I really liked you. And I would like to go on a second date. Well, Noah, hold on. I will ask the lady.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Zoe, Lord Noah would like to request your presence on another date sometime in the near future. Do you oblige? Wouldest thou be willing to go out with Noah on one more date to see if he is truly as
Starting point is 00:13:03 romantic as he was on the first date. And if that is actually him, we will pay for it. You will not pay a shilling or a whatever. Yes, I would go out on a second date. Really? Rejoice. You got yourself a second date.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Awesome. Okay. I promise I won't be as awkward as last time. And I can't wait to see you. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too. And Noah says that he's not going to overdo it, but wait till he shows up for your next date. He's going to be on a white stallion.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Holding a tryout. Jubal's first Date Follow-Up. Ugh, we're so done with New Year, New You. This year, it's more you on Bumble.
