The Jubal
Show on demand.
First date follow-up.
John is on the phone today for a first
date follow-up and he's not getting a call back
from Drea. First of all, before we
ask you about your date, how long has it been
since you talked to her? Week and a half. Week and a half. All right. And how many times you try to get a hold
of her in that week and a half? I mean, I called, I called once and I left it, you know, a text and
then a follow-up text. So three. Okay. Three times in a week and a half. That's, I mean,
that's pretty standard, I think. Yep. And nothing back, huh? No, nothing at all. All right. Well,
first of all, tell us about your date.
What did you do with Drea?
I thought it went well.
You know, we went out to dinner.
You know, we talked about a lot of stuff.
I mean, she watches Netflix.
And so I like there's a lot of shows I hadn't seen, but she like talked about, like told me about it.
I'm like, that sounds cool.
You know, I'll watch that.
I'll try that out, you know?
All right,
sweet.
So she's a Netflix or you're a Netflix or wow.
Unique.
Lots in common.
Yeah.
And I'm really good at checkers.
And so I told her,
you know,
there's a lot more strategy to it than you think.
And so like,
she's like,
Oh,
so yeah,
I was going to teach her that.
And so like,
we had like future plans,
you know,
like things to do.
She gave you a bunch of TV shows that you could catch up on on Netflix and you were going to teach her checkers.
And now she's not calling you back.
Exactly. Yeah.
How do you think her vibe was during the date?
Like, do you think that she was liking you as much as you were liking her?
Yeah. Like I said, maybe I'm reading it wrong, but she was excited talking about the shows.
And like we were laughing about stuff and and like just throughout
the whole dinner like it just seemed like you you know we clicked okay you said that you took notes
on what she told you to watch can you tell us some uh shows that she recommended yeah she told
me about this show called ozark she said it sounded you know i thought it would it was something I would like and, and, uh, orange is the new black.
Yeah. Just, just, you know, fun, fun, like drama filled shows.
All right. How did the date end?
I mean, like I said, I mean, I didn't even try and kiss her.
It was like the first day it's like, it's been a while for me. So I was like, take it slow and, you know, be respectful. And,
and I said, I'll call you.
And she said, okay.
So this is your first date in a long time.
So maybe you were nervous too.
Yeah.
Maybe I like forgot how to date, you know, it's been a long time for me since I've been
on a date.
So I was just like, I don't know.
Maybe I just screwed it up.
Well, why do you think she's not calling you back then?
I don't know.
I honestly, like I went over it and over my head.
I think maybe she's turned off, but I have a lot of tattoos. I mean, she like mentioned it at one point. And, you know, you can see like we met online. She saw some of the pictures and I'm like, she knew. But I think I think I was wearing shorts and she like saw the wind down my leg and everything. And so she kept asking me about that. So I thought maybe, maybe she's turned off by that.
And there was no other like awkward moment during the night that you could
think of?
Not that I know,
man.
Like,
like I said,
everything seemed good on my end.
So when you say she was questioning like your leg tattoo,
can you let us,
what was,
what exactly was she saying?
How would she question you about it?
I mean,
it's hard to remember exactly because I started getting in my head when she was asking about it but she just she said she said you have
a lot she's like you have a lot of tattoos i was like yeah and so she asked me about one of the
ones on my leg and just kind of just like again she just brought it up and then she brought it
up again later about one of the ones on my like forearm or whatever so i don't know if they
bothered her but she kept pulling them up.
Does she have any tattoos?
Not that I could see.
I didn't want to ask.
Well, I didn't want to make it uncomfortable
because she was wearing shorts
and like a tank top type thing.
So like I could see her arms and her legs
and shit in her hat.
So I didn't want to be like,
hey, do you have any anywhere I can't see?
Because I want to be a creep, you know?
So I got this like whole thing thing of Vikings on my leg,
and she was asking about it.
And so I started talking to her about the history of Vikings.
I mean, honestly, it's really fascinating.
I know a lot about it.
I mean, I won't get into it now, but you can research it.
There's tons of information about Vikings and how amazing they were,
and I was talking to her about that.
Okay.
All right.
So you think that she's not calling you back
maybe because of so many tattoos
and your love of Vikings.
Yeah, maybe she hates Vikings.
I don't know.
All right.
Well, we'll see if we can figure it out for you.
We'll play a song,
come back,
and then call her
and find out why she's not calling you back.
All right?
Sounds good.
All right.
We'll get your first date follow-up next.
It's The Jubal Show.
Right in the middle of your first date follow-up,
and John is on the phone.
John went out with Drea, and now he's not getting a call back, and he has no idea why.
The only reason that he can think of why he's not getting a call back is because he's got a lot of tattoos, and he likes Vikings a whole lot.
And he doesn't know why Drea's not calling him back.
He said that they really bonded.
She gave him some Netflix shows that he should watch because he hasn't watched a lot of shows, I guess, for whatever reason.
Also, he thinks maybe he kind of forgot how to date because it's been a while since he has dated for whatever reason.
And he also has a lot of tattoos and he thinks maybe the tattoos might have turned her off.
All right, John.
Other than that, is there anything else you can think of?
No, I'm just excited to find out what she says.
All right, We'll make
our phone call right now and we'll see if we can get you another date and see why she's not calling
you back and see if we can get you another date. Okay. All right. Thanks. All right. Here we go.
Hello. Hi, may I speak to Drea, please?
Yeah, this is Drea.
Hi, Drea.
How are you?
This is The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
My name is Jubal.
Mine's Alex.
And I'm Christian Gray Snow.
Oh, okay.
Hi, everybody.
Hello.
Hi.
Hi.
Have you heard the show before?
Yeah.
Well, I don't know why you guys are calling.
Well, we're calling you
because we do a segment on our show called the first date follow-up. That's where if you go out
on a date with somebody and end up not calling them back, they can email us to get you on the
phone and ask what happened. And we got an email about you from one of our listeners.
Oh, okay. Okay, cool. Is there anybody you've been out on a date with recently that you're
not calling back?
Yeah.
I went out with this guy named John about a week and a half ago.
Is that it?
Yes, it is.
So why are you ghosting John?
Yeah, I'm not calling him back because he told me something that I can't really get past.
So that's why.
What?
No reason to.
What is it?
Yeah.
Well, he revealed over the course of the evening that he was recently out of prison.
He had been there for 14 years for attempted murder.
Jesus.
Whoa.
Attempted murder?
He only got 14 years for attempted murder?
How was he trying to murder?
He didn't tell us that.
I tried to find out, but
he really wouldn't tell me.
So I was like, I don't need him now.
That's scary. Yeah. Well, did you
meet him on a normal dating
app or prisonmatch.com?
I want to try that.
He was on a regular
dating app. He's recently released, so he was free and allowed to be there, I guess.
Okay.
Did they make you, like, list that on Tinder or something?
I mean, I just want to know.
I think some actually have a background check now.
Yeah.
They should.
Oh, yeah.
They should.
That's a big bomb to drop in the middle of a date.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was a whole lot.
And also, like, he had a lot of ink, which I'm super attracted to.
I don't mind ink on a guy at all.
But he had one, like his leg was covered in all these Viking tattoos.
And I watched a little bit of Love After Lockup and what that stuff was about.
One of those shows.
Yeah.
It was just a little scared.
I don't know what's really up.
Why are you scared? What do Viking tattoos
have to do with the shows you mentioned?
I think they're
kind of gang related from what I've
learned from my TV education.
Oh yeah.
And then also he had this one
on his face that was like
I thought it was kind of pretty at first but but then I looked closer, and it was the name Monty.
Like, on his cheek, the side of his cheek, and when I asked him who that was, he was like, oh, yeah, that was one of my boys while I was in.
What?
He tattooed his name on his face?
Yep. I've got a bunch of questions now. We should ask him, don't you think, Drea? What? He tattooed his name on his face? Yeah.
I've got a bunch of questions now.
We should ask him, don't you think, Drea?
You guys feel free.
All right.
I'm scared.
How about you join us, because John's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you right now.
Hi, Drea.
Hi, John.
I guess I wish you had just told me, you know, that you were uncomfortable.
Like, you know, I mean, you were laughing.
We were having a good time.
And, you know, if you were going to ghost me, just tell me.
Again, I haven't done this in a long time, but, like, the least you can do is just, like, just say you're not interested, you know?
Yep.
That would have been a thing to do.
I don't think I really have ever dealt with this situation before, though,
and wasn't quite sure what to do.
I mean, I think, John, it's probably a good idea if you just close a bit of your history
before you go on dates instead of dropping it on somebody
when they're popping a meatball in their mouth.
It's a really bad time to do that.
So that's why it's been a long time since you dated, John,
because you were in prison for 14 years.
Right, right.
But, Drea, can I ask, did you have fun?
Like, when we just, like, chatted, did you have fun talking?
I mean, minus the prison stuff, I had a great time.
I mean, you're probably the nicest date I've had in a long time.
Yeah, I am nice.
I mean, I got out for good behavior early.
I was supposed to be in there 20, and I got out in 14.
So, like, I didn't put it on my bio because nobody would go on a date with a guy.
But like you said, you had a good time with me.
Yeah, he's a nice dude.
Yeah, yeah, he is.
Okay, he was supposed to be in for 20.
I don't know if that's something I can get past.
I just don't know.
I mean, maybe we could try again.
I mean, I don't know.
Well, I guess this is a good time to just ask you, Drea.
Would you like to go on another date with John?
We will pay for it.
Yeah, I'm going gonna have to pass i just
don't think i can all right well i'll find somebody else to put a meatball in their mouth
all right we'll be a good boy then okay
drea so what if if we convinced him to give you a little bit more back back you know background
information on why he was convicted for attempted murder.
Would that, you know, help you maybe go out with him again if he, like, talked about it a little bit?
Opened up?
Yeah, for sure.
So you're just saying no because you feel like he's being too secretive then?
It's a little bit shady, yes. Okay.
You know, if you're willing to talk more about the situation and let me know what happened
and I could learn more about it
and get more comfortable.
I think I could go out again
and focus more on getting to know you
rather than judging the situation.
All right, John.
What do you think?
I like that.
John?
He's literally just hung up.
You're lying.
I don't think he wants to tell you.
What?
He hung up? You're lying. I don't think he wants to tell you. What? He hung up?
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, I was actually on his team, and now I'm on your side,
because maybe you don't want to know.
I don't know.
You know.
Maybe not.
Do a background check.
Let us know which one.
Yeah, please.
Or don't.
