First date follow-up.
Bryson is on the phone today for a first date follow-up
and he thinks he's not getting a call back
from a woman named Trinity,
all because of what he did or didn't do with his mouth. He thinks he might have, he thinks he should have
kissed her. We'll get to that in just a second. But first let's find out a little bit about his
date. Bryson, before we find out any info about Trinity and why you like her so much and why you
think she's not calling her back, how long has it been since you talked to her? Oh man, I gotta say
it's probably been about a couple of weeks at this point.
You know, I thought by now, usually you get a follow-up call within a few days.
So I'm just wondering what's going on.
That's a long time.
You must have really done something bad to this girl.
How many times have you tried to reach out to her?
Oh, I mean, you know, I gave her the couple of follow-up texts,
but I don't want to be too aggressive or anything like that. So I've just been kind of hoping that she'd call back and it's it's not happening need a little
clarification on that because your standard follow-up texts might be different than my
standard follow-up text mine's about three yeah I went I went with just two I just went with had
a really great time and then uh just making sure I have the right number, which usually works.
Making sure I have the right number is kind of a, that's a cry for help a little bit.
I don't know if that's the reason that she's not calling you back.
We'll figure that out in a second.
All right.
How'd you meet Trinity?
We met on Hinge.
You know, I've been trying out a bunch of different dating apps and I really liked that one just because the idea of it being, you know, not just like a hookup, but like somebody that I can actually connect with was really cool.
And it seemed like we were connecting really well.
So it was working until the end of the day.
What did you guys end up doing for your date?
Just a good old restaurant date.
Went out to eat, you know, appetizers, main course, couple glasses of wine, conversation.
She's a great girl.
Sounds like a good time.
Okay. You didn't call her a great girl on the date.
No, no, not at all. I probably said a wonderful person or something.
Okay. That's much better.
I could say that'd be a reason you might not get a call back. I'm really enjoying my time with you.
You're a great girl.
I don't date in the forties.
Well, the conversation was good. Tell us a little bit about, like, did it feel like you guys really had a connection?
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's a first date, so you just sort of start with, like, your interests and stuff.
We both like being outdoors.
We both like traveling, all that good stuff.
And, you know, it felt like just a regular good date.
And I don't know, I felt like I could have easily seen her again,
but I just feel like maybe I wasn't maybe aggressive enough for showing enough interest.
Okay.
So there wasn't something that actually specifically happened during the
date.
Well,
it's,
I,
I,
I always have a hard time figuring out at the end of the date,
like whether it's appropriate to sort of like go into the good night kiss or
if you don't do that or if that's being too much.
Yeah, that's always the tough part about a first date.
It's a difficult choice.
It's very, very obvious.
You don't know if you should go in for a kiss or not, you know?
And there's that weird little dance that you do.
You're talking and you're kind of dragging out the conversation,
hoping for an obvious sign.
They're either like, I hope he's not trying to get a kiss right now or
I hope he tries to kiss me right now but
sometimes you can't tell so both of you guys
are doing this weird awkward thing where it's like I don't
know which one it is and
it's just an
awkward experience. Right so if there's any like doubt
or should I probably not probably not the best
idea. Yeah that's a good point. Probably not right
yeah you want to make sure you're being
good so like you know I'm trying to break the tension I'm trying to you know keep it light the best idea. that's a good point. Probably not, right? Yeah, you want to make sure you're being good. So like,
you know,
I'm trying to break the tension.
I'm trying to,
you know,
keep it light
and I don't know,
I just didn't go for it
and I wonder if maybe
that's what kind of
set me back
was that she was looking
for someone who was
going to show a little more
interest right off the bat
like that.
Be aggressive.
Come on,
be aggressive.
Just kiss me.
How do you know?
Yeah,
you don't know
which one it is,
so.
Yeah,
I get a lot of
conflicting information
on the internet on whether or not that's
appropriate. Don't use Google
for that sort of thing. So you think
that the reason you didn't kiss
her might be why she's not calling you back?
I don't know.
I'm hoping that that's the reason because
if she's looking for somebody who can be a little
more aggressive, I mean, I really liked her so I'll
kiss her plenty next time if that's the truth.
You can feel those boots.
Yeah.
Hope you didn't tell her that.
You're a really good gal
or good girl,
and I'll kiss you plenty.
Yeah.
Yeah, I tend to turn into
a real sort of like
old Bob Bill actor
when I'm talking to women.
That's good.
All right, well,
we'll play a song,
come back,
call her,
and see if we can figure it out
for you, okay?
All right, thanks, man.
All right, we'll do it
next
it's the Jubal show
before we make
our phone call
for the first date
follow up here
you want to call
Trinity
you guys went out
to dinner
she hasn't talked
to you in a few weeks
you've texted her
a couple times
the reason you think
she's not calling you
back is because
you didn't go in
for a kiss
yeah I think she
was just looking
for someone who
was a little more
into moving forward
faster
alright we're gonna
try to call her right now and see if we can figure it out for you, okay?
All right.
All right, here we go.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Trinity, please?
Oh, speaking. Hello, Trinity, please? Speaking.
Hello, Trinity.
My name is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
My name's Alex Fresh.
My name's English Evan.
It's a radio show.
Yeah, I think I know what the show is.
Okay.
It's nice to meet you, Trinity.
You have any idea why we're calling you?
I have no idea.
Okay, well, I'll explain.
We do a segment on the show called
the first date follow-up. It's where if you go out with someone on a date and then end up ghosting
them, they can email us to get you on the phone and find out why. And we got an email about you
from someone who listens. I don't, I mean, the last date that I went on was with Bryson. That is it. It was Bryson.
So why are you not calling Bryson back?
I just,
I guess I just didn't want to see him again.
That's obvious.
Bryson emailed us because he wants to know why though.
So we went to dinner.
We had wine and we had.
Yeah, he told us about dinner.
He said that you guys really vibed.
Yeah, we were.
We were vibing.
I wanted it.
I wanted it to go well.
OK, so I didn't text back because at the end of the date,
you know, like when it comes down to a hug or a kiss,
he asked to see my smile.
Okay.
That's kind of cute in a way.
And I see your smile.
He hadn't seen your smile yet.
No,
I,
I'm pretty sure I laughed at least once or twice during the day.
Was it offensive to you?
Like the whole,
you know,
dude being like,
you need to smile more.
Let me see you smile before you leave the day.
I hate when people,
I mean, I think anybody hates when people say smile or like yeah more whatever I I
didn't take it so much like that because I had just spent like two hours with him um but anyway
I smiled and then he asked me to open my mouth larger and he wanted to see my gums,
like the inside of my mouth,
like... Wait, what?
Is he a dentist?
That's what I started thinking, but he
didn't tell me that he was a dentist during the date
so that just didn't
add up. What in the heck?
For a minute, I was
opening my mouth larger and then I
was like, wait, wait, wait.
This is ridiculous. Yeah.
Do you ask him why he wanted to see
your mouth? No.
I called an Uber, and I
literally left the scene of the
crime. Oh, my God.
I'm confused because we
talked to him, you know, and he told us that
he didn't tell us about wanting to inspect your mouth.
I mean, obviously. He thought the awkward part for both you guys and the
reason he wasn't getting a call back was because he didn't go in for the kiss. So he didn't
explain why he wanted to look in your mouth. He didn't explain,
but then I also didn't really give him a chance to explain. I was just like,
I just got out of there, you know? I mean, that sounds like
the worst ending to a day possible.
Yeah.
Very, very creepy.
I want to know what he was looking for.
Well, let's just ask him then,
because he's actually on the line listening
and wants to talk to you anyway, so.
Wait, he's been listening this whole time?
Yeah.
Bryson, why'd you want to look in her mouth?
I'd like to know.
Okay, I feel like to know.
Okay. Okay. I feel like I can explain. Hi, Trinity. It's nice to talk to you again.
Hey, Bryson.
Now that I hear that back, it does sound incredibly weird. I got to say that.
You know, I was just, I was getting really nervous toward the end of the date. I really,
I really liked it. And, you know, we got to that part where it's like, you know, is this going to be like a hug situation or a kiss situation? And I just,
I panicked completely. And I thought like maybe like some mouth-based humor might like start figuring out whether or not this was going to be a kiss situation or not.
Mouth-based humor. Never heard that sentence. Open wide. Let me see how wide you can open.
Yeah.
And, you know, I mean, like I said, I freaked out.
And I was raised by a dental hygienist.
So I think that's just sort of like what came to the front of my mind first. And I just feel like such a dweeb for going there.
What were you looking for?
I don't know.
I just figured maybe like if we're like talking about mouths and we're like thinking about our mouths,
then like, I don't know, that's's gonna prime our mouths to like want to meet each
other or something like that oh dude no no you need some new material that's not mouth-based
have you ever tried that before on a date and I never claimed to be a comedian uh but
no I've never tried it before and obviously it's not something I should go forward with. Yeah, no, that one got you ghosted.
So, yeah, I mean, like, Trinity, are you still there, or have I blown this again?
I'm here.
It's just like, I mean, if it comes down to a hug or a kiss at the end of the date,
in this case, I would have rather just taken the hug because of how weird it went. But I don't need
to think about my mouth to kiss. You know, it's a pretty natural thing that people do typically at
the end of a date. But what you did is just like super weird. I actually got really self-conscious about my teeth when you
did that. You know, I'm not missing any front teeth, but I have had a tooth pulled, so I didn't
want to ruin the date in that aspect. Yeah. And just for the record, like I said, my mom's a
hygienist. You have great teeth, if that helps. That's sweet. Wow. sweet. I think what he's saying is
you have a pretty mouth.
Oh God, that's even worse.
Well, thank you for being
honest with us about the reason you're not calling him back.
Bryson, I hope you never do that again.
That is a creepy move.
Yeah, I think
I've learned a lesson about
having some material prepared in advance.
Trinity, would you like to go out on another date with Bryson?
We'll pay for it.
To be honest, I mean, I don't know what he'll do next.
And I don't want somebody who's going to come to a date with prepared material either.
Like, if you have to prepare material, not going to go well.
So, honestly, I'm going to pass on this one.
Really?
You know what?
I'm sorry to hear that.
But, yeah, I mean, you know, if you change your mind,
I promise no weird mouth stuff on the next one.
I'll try to think of something else.
Trinity, not a lot of guys can promise that on a date.
No weird mouth stuff.
You sure?
Now I'm worried that it'll never
happen.
