Starting point is 00:00:01 Ugh, we're so done with New Year, New You. This year, it's more you on Bumble. More of you shamelessly sending playlists, especially that one filled with show tunes. More of you finding Gemini's because you know you always like them. More of you dating with intention because you know what you want. And you know what? We love that for you. Someone else will too. Be more you this year and find them on Bumble.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Consider this is a daily news podcast, and lately, the news is about a big question. How much can one guy change? They want change. What will change look like for energy? Drill, baby, drill. Schools? Take the Department of Education, close it. Health care?
Starting point is 00:00:44 Better and less expensive. Follow coverage of a changing country. Promises made, promises kept. We're going to keep our promises. On Consider This from NPR. Listen on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Calling all Yellowstone fans. Let's go to work.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Join Bobby Bones on the official yellow stone podcast for exclusive cast interviews behind the scenes insights and a deep dive into the themes that have made yellow stone a cultural phenomenon our family legacy is this ranch and i protect it of my life listen to the official yellow stone podcast now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Jubal Show on demand. First date follow-up. Tyrone is on the phone today for a first date follow-up. He's not getting a call back from Nicole, and he has no idea why.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Tyrone, thank you for your email, man. Hey, guys. How are you? I'm, you know, I'm doing all right, I guess, for what it's worth. Before we get into your date and why you think you're not getting a call back, tell us how long it's been since you went out with Nicole. I'd say a few weeks. A few weeks, like three?
Starting point is 00:02:04 Well, she really hasn't texted me in about two to three weeks, two and a half weeks. Okay. Quite a long time. Well, what did you do on your date? And was it the only time that you guys went out? Well, we kind of met at a party, which doesn't really count because I just talked to her a few times and really dug her. And a mutual friend of ours, I asked her, hey, could you get me her digits? And I'm a little shy sometimes, so whatever. She gave me the number, and we kind of started texting back and forth for a few weeks.
Starting point is 00:02:34 And then we ended up going out, and it was, yeah, I guess that's why we're here today. Not calling you back. Yeah. Well, what did you guys do on your date? We started off, we went to dinner, which was really awesome it was like this italian restaurant or whatever and i thought we had a really funny time and she's really good at like laughing along and playing along there was this one time she actually like her hair kept dipping into her fettuccine like alfredo and i was like hey and you know it was just really fun we got along when her hair dipped
Starting point is 00:03:07 into her pasta sauce i'm just going to check something and i should not have to check this but i just feel the need to check it you didn't reach across the table grab her hair and then lick it off of her hair did you no i didn't know i didn't do anything too creepy i mean i could see that happening and then somebody coming on to do it as the first day follow-up going like, I don't know why they're not calling back. It's like you licked food off of their hair. You know? Yeah, right. Okay, good. You didn't do that. That makes me proud of you. Yeah, I know. It wasn't that romantic.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Okay. But yeah, no. Didn't do anything crazy like that. So we're eating and everything and we're about to leave and she has a good sense of humor. So I'm like, why don't we say it's your birthday and we'll get a free dessert. And she was holding down.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And I was like, okay, cool. So we did it. And the waiter, they totally came out and sang happy birthday. That's fun. Especially if it's a place where they sing happy birthday to you. It's fun to pretend that it's your birthday at those places. Yeah, it totally is. And it's probably the oldest trick in the book.
Starting point is 00:04:06 You know, whatever. I guess they can't say, no, it's not your birthday, but check your ID. But anyway, so we get to the point where it's like, oh crap, this movie's about to start, you know, and I'm thinking, okay, no ice cream. Let's just, you know, blow out that candle and let's get out of here. And so you want to take the brownie with you to the movie theater? Yeah. I thought it'd be a great idea to bring a brownie to the movie theater yeah i thought it'd be a great idea to bring a brownie to the movie theater you know a little dessert for the flick that's nice
Starting point is 00:04:31 right it's better than probably what they have at the movie theater i agree yeah exactly i mean come on you don't spend 20 on some gummy worms like but so yeah we end up um you know going to the movie and you know eating the brownie. And I just thought she was so cute. She's got this really cute dimple. And, like, she's got these beautiful brown eyes. And I'm such, like, I'm so into brown eyes. You're a sucker. You're a sucker.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Sucker for the brown eyes. I'm a sucker for the brown-eyed girl, so. I'd make sure to add this. But I just, you know, opposite the track. Whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever. Did you kiss her or anything
Starting point is 00:05:11 at the end of the date? We totally made out. You did? I mean, I drove her home. Yeah, we made out. It wasn't just like a peck. Oh, that's cool. You got the whole, like...
Starting point is 00:05:19 You know what I mean? It was a little, like, marathon. Right. Okay. I could have kissed her all night long. Okay. But now she's not. And it I could have kissed her all night long. Okay. But now she's not.
Starting point is 00:05:26 And I probably could have turned into like an Australian kiss. It's like a French kiss, but down under. Maybe a French kiss. Yeah. I thought I knew it all. I don't know about all that, but I had such a good time. I would love an Australian kiss. I bet you would.
Starting point is 00:05:44 All right. You should try it. Yeah. Just would love an Australian kiss. I bet you would. All right. You should try it. Yeah. Just kidding. Go down under. Now it's awkward because I'm just thinking about the... Brown eyed girl. Shut up.
Starting point is 00:05:59 We'll play a song. Come back. Get your first day follow up right after this. It's the Jubal show. Right in the middle of your first day follow-up right after this. It's the Jubilee Show. Right in the middle of your first day follow-up, if you're just joining us, Tyrone is on the phone. Tyrone is on the phone. I know. Every time something rhymes, I don't want to pay attention to it,
Starting point is 00:06:15 but then I have to say something. And I'm so glad that you did, Alex, because I was just like, I'm not going to say it, and I'm like, I hope somebody does, I hope somebody does, and you came through. So yes, Tyrone is on the phone. But Tyrone is alone. What's up, Tyrone? Who's alone on the phone? Tyrone's at home alone on the phone.
Starting point is 00:06:32 It sounds like a Dr. Seuss book. Well, let's see if we can get Tyrone unalone on the phone. Come on, please. And call Nicole. All right, let's get it. He went out with a girl named Nicole.
Starting point is 00:06:47 They went to dinner and a movie. He thought everything went great. They even made out a bunch after. But now Tyrone is not getting a call back from Nicole. And that is why Tyrone is at home alone on the phone. So we're about to call Nicole and see if she'll tell us the reason that she is ghosting Tyrone and see if we can get Tyrone another date. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:06 You ready, man? Awesome. Yeah, I'm ready. Okay. Here we go. Let's go. Dial the phone number right now. Hello?
Starting point is 00:07:16 Hey, may I speak to Nicole, please? This is she. Wonderful. Who is this? That's a good question. And I've got an answer for you. This is the Jubal show. It's a radio show. My name is Jubal. And I'm his wife, Alex. And I've got an answer for you. This is the Jubal Show. It's a radio show.
Starting point is 00:07:26 My name is Jubal. And I'm his wife, Alex. And I've got all the answers. My wife just confirmed it. Oh, I'm Chris. Then I'm also good. How can I help you? Well, you can help us by talking to us a little bit about one of our listeners who emailed us.
Starting point is 00:07:43 That's a very clunky way to say it. We had a listener that emailed us asking if we could call you and um that's probably still confusing because i'm confused myself i'm like i don't know why i'm nervous yeah i don't know why i'm nervous because i'm having trouble explaining what we're doing and i normally don't i've done like a million of these but you went out on a date with somebody and then you ghosted them so that person emailed us to get you on the phone and ask why, why are you ghosting? Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:10 It's kind of weird. Are you ghosting right now? I mean, aren't we all? I'm fine ghosting. Yeah. I mean, I went out with someone recently and like,
Starting point is 00:08:21 we haven't really talked then. Okay. Well then why are you ghosting? His name's Tyrone. Is his name Tyrone, the one you're talking about? Uh, yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Well, Tyrone emailed us because he wants to ask you the question that we just asked you. Why are you ghosting? Should we change the name of the segment to Why Are You Ghosting?
Starting point is 00:08:38 I was thinking the same thing. I like it. I mean, if I'm being completely honest, I didn't like love some of the things that happened on the date. Oh, okay. I'd love to know why. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Or what? He thought you had a good time. Well, so, like, I mean, I guess, basically, just, the guy's cheap. Cheap? I was wondering, actually. Oh, the dessert thing. See, I thought it was him just being, like, cute. I got the cheap vibes, actually. Okay, the dessert thing. I thought it was him just being like cute. I got the cheap vibes actually.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Okay, that makes sense. So are you talking about the brownie that he took from the restaurant? Well, oh, he said it was a birthday too. He told you that? Yeah, he told us that he told the restaurant it was your birthday so that he could get a dessert from them and then he took the brownie to the movies with you guys so you guys could eat the brownie
Starting point is 00:09:21 in the movies, which I thought was a genius idea. I thought it was weird. I could also see it being cheap, so you took it as cheap? Well, it's not just that, but first of all, I mean, yeah, the birthday thing, like, that was funny,
Starting point is 00:09:30 you know, whatever, but, like, I didn't realize he was getting it to go so we could eat it at the movie theater. I thought that was kind of weird. I thought we were
Starting point is 00:09:37 going to eat it there. I thought that would be kind of funny. It was just a brownie. No, the homeboy, like, he had a Ziploc baggie with popcorn in it. What?
Starting point is 00:09:45 He had what? He had a Ziploc baggie with popcorn in it. What? He had what? He had a Ziploc baggie with popcorn in it. Oh, no. Who has better popcorn than the movie theater? He didn't tell us that. He just told us about the brownie. I wouldn't tell people that either. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:57 When I go to the movie, like, I don't go to the movies often. What I do, like, I just want some buttery movie theater popcorn. Yeah. So I end up having to, like, buy it myself. Oh, hell no. And then he was giving me a hard time telling me how I shouldn't waste my money on it and stuff like that. It just brought me the wrong way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:13 So basically, you just don't want to go see him again because he's cheap. The other part was that he was on his phone the entire night. What? Like, at dinner, at the movie. Like, I'm convinced that he was on Tinder. He was working on his budget for the week. Yeah, I was just gonna say.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Looking for deals? Looking for online coupons? You think he was on Tinder? For real? I do think he was, because, like, swiping left and right. What? Yeah, I don't, like, I don't, I'm not interested in, like, I was just kidding. Nicole, thank you for telling us. What is more of a deal breaker for you, I'm wondering?
Starting point is 00:10:45 The snacks or your date being on Tinder while you're on a date with him? My date being on Tinder. I agree. For me, it would have been the snacks, I think. It's just uncalled for. Nicole, I do have to let you know that he is actually on the phone listening
Starting point is 00:10:59 and wants to talk to you, though. What? Yeah. Oh, sorry. Like right now? Yep. He heard everything you said. Why would you do this to him?
Starting point is 00:11:07 Sorry, we forgot to tell you. I wasn't on Tinder for starters. What were you on? I was on... You were doing something. No, I was archiving and deleting emails from my work. They send me emails periodically throughout the freaking night. I'm in IT, so I have to check it.
Starting point is 00:11:21 And you had to do it while you were on our date. Yeah. I didn't mean to, but sometimes, you know, it's important email stuff, and I didn't want to, like, talk to you about it. And I was having such a good time. I didn't feel like I had to tell you, hey, sorry, I had to respond to my boss. But, yeah. And the whole popcorn thing, you told them about the popcorn.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Look, the popcorn thing, I actually make that popcorn. I even told you about it. I was like, yeah, I've got my own little garden. You make your own popcorn? So you put it in the microwave? Yeah, I make my that popcorn. I even told you about it. I was like, yeah, I've got my own little garden. You make your own popcorn? So you put it in the microwave? Yeah, I make my own popcorn. No, it's locally sourced from my backyard. And it's like no GMO.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Yeah, it's all that. So you actually grow the corn or? Did you buy like a popcorn maker on Amazon? No, I actually literally grow the popcorn you grow how do you grow like i grow the corn to make the popcorn okay oh my gosh you have a popcorn tree that is amazing oh my god but seriously i don't have an issue with the fact that you make your own popcorn like that that's not the issue the issues that you brought like i know people that make beer but when they go out they don't bring their own beer with them to the restaurant.
Starting point is 00:12:28 I know, but you also make it sound like I just threw a bunch of Renegade M&M's in my pocket. It was our first date, and it just kind of wasn't a great first impression. I like saving money. Come on, inflation. Who doesn't? I'm trying to
Starting point is 00:12:44 buy more land so I can build more popcorn trees. Oh, my God. So, I mean, come on. Like, there's nothing wrong with that. Okay, well. And plus, we can go on some better dates. There you go. You know?
Starting point is 00:12:57 He has a point. I don't know. Would you like to go out with Tyrone again, even though you think he was cheap on your date? Would you like to go out with him again? We'll pay for it. We'll pay for another date. That way you don't have to worry about Tyrone. Oh, he would love that. I'll pay
Starting point is 00:13:12 for the dessert this time. I'm going to have to pass, but thank you. You sure? Not for me. Homemade popcorn. All you can eat. Popcorn trees, girl. Yeah, I'm good. Well, I guess you just missed out on a trip to Australia, the thunder down under. Yeah, I'm good. Well, I guess you just missed out on a trip to Australia, the thunder down under. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know what you're talking about. I know you don't want to know. We'll just wrap it up right here. All right. Thank you for your email, Tyrone and Nicole. Yeah, I look like Sam.
