Starting point is 00:02:05 Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Jubal Show on demand. First date follow-up. Colin is on the phone today for a first date follow-up because he's getting ghosted by a woman named Miriam. He doesn't
Starting point is 00:02:21 know why. We don't know why either. Nobody knows why except for Miriam. No one. And we're not, we don't, we're not, Miriam's not here to tell us, so we're going to try to figure it out right now and see if we can figure out why he's not getting a call back from Miriam, but Colin, I'm just as stumped as you are. You're welcome.
Starting point is 00:02:38 I'm so excited. Okay, so you don't know why Miriam is ghosting you? No, I've got no idea. I mean, you know, it's, yeah, I'm completely missed. Okay, and you're sure she's ghosting you? Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:02:53 I mean, you know, we met, we went out for a date, everything went off perfectly, but everything, you know. Colin, you're English? Yeah, I'm originally from London. Oh, look at that. A friend. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:09 That's exciting for both of you guys. I'm excited for English Evan and Colin. I know Colin, you obviously listen to the show, so you probably listen to the show for English Evan, right? Evan's the only reason anyone should listen to that show. You Americans got no idea what you're talking about. Anyway, Colin, so what happened? Why do you think you're not getting a call back?
Starting point is 00:03:30 Tell us about the date. So, like, we were chatting for a bit before we met, right? So, I mean, everything seemed like it was going to be perfect. But, you know, and, like, the vibe wasn't right, you know? Like, something was a little bit off. I mean, I can't put my finger on it, honestly, you know? So you just think it was super awkward? Yeah, there was a little bit of awkwardness, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:53 I mean, not just a little bit. There was a lot of awkwardness, you know? Like, I kept thinking, like, is there something in my teeth? Have I got, like, you know, did I not do my eye makeup? Nasal hairs or something? Like, what's the front is? So why do my eye makeup, nasal hairs or something like that? What's the fun here? So why do you want to go on another date with her then? Oh, because she's fine.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Okay. So you want another shot because she's hot. Wow, that's a good one. I mean, listen, if I did something wrong, then I want to know about it, right? Because, you know, everyone deserves a second chance. Yeah, okay. Well, how long has it been
Starting point is 00:04:25 since your date? A couple of weeks. Okay, and how many times have you reached out to her in that time? About three or four. Well, tell us what you guys did. What did you do for the date? So, first of all, we met on Tinder, right? And then we just
Starting point is 00:04:41 went out for a couple of drinks and some dinner, you know? She's not calling you back because she doesn't just like you. Maybe she doesn't want to date you. I mean, honestly, no. I mean, I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I'm usually a medal winner in that department. I just have a quick question. So whenever you said you heard back from her that night,
Starting point is 00:05:02 can you tell us exactly what she said to you? Was she excited? Did she seem like she was excited to see you again? Did she seem like she was thankful for the event that you took her to? How was it? I mean, it was kind of generic, honestly. So nothing about going out again, none of that? No emojis?
Starting point is 00:05:21 No. No emojis. I believe you with the whole thing about not having a problem dating. I mean, you're an English guy in America. It's pretty much slam dunks for you. I don't know. It took me 24 years to lose my virginity. Yeah, but you're you.
Starting point is 00:05:35 This guy is Colin. His name's even Colin. With one L. I bet he's sexy. With one L. It just doubles the sexiness. He sounds six feet tall. Yeah, at least.
Starting point is 00:05:44 You didn't spend the whole time talking trash about America, did you? Maybe that's why. No, no, please. Would I? I don't know if you would, but you sound like you would to me, Colin. Colin, would you?
Starting point is 00:05:56 Well, you've got the wrong end of the stick, my friend. You've got the wrong end of the stick. Okay, well, I want the Colin end of the stick just like all the ladies do, I guess. Except for Miriam. Yeah, except for Miriam. Miriam has the wrong end of the stick, just like all the ladies do. Except for Miriam. Yeah, except for Miriam. Miriam doesn't want the wrong end of the stick, I guess. We'll figure out why she wants
Starting point is 00:06:10 the wrong end of the stick and figure out why she's not calling you back. You can't think of anything, though. No reason. I mean, I parallel parked a little badly. That might have been, you know. That's a deal breaker. Is it? I mean, you guys drive on the wrong side of the road. You're probably trying to parallel park on the wrong side of the road.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Holy crap. She's like, what's going on? All right. So we'll play a song, come back in and call her and see if we can figure it out for you and find out if it was the fact that you parallel park horribly. I mean, not horribly. A little bit off. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:42 We'll see if she's not calling you back because you parallel park a little bit off. Just a little bit. All right. We'll do it next. It's a Jubal show. Right in the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Colin is on the phone. And Colin is not getting a call back from Miriam, a woman he went on a date with. And if you missed the first part, they just went out for dinner and drinks.
Starting point is 00:07:03 He thought that they had a great time. He also said normally he always gets a call back. Why is that? I'll show you why right now. Colin, say hi to the people listening. Hello, my loves.
Starting point is 00:07:13 How are you? English guy in America. He's probably doing pretty well. Anyway, he's not getting a call back from Miriam. He doesn't know why. The only reason that he can think of
Starting point is 00:07:22 is that he parallel parked a tad bit off. A little bit off. A little bit off. Is that right, Colin? That's correct, yeah. You parked a little bit off, and that's the only reason that you can think that she's not calling you back.
Starting point is 00:07:35 We're about to get on the phone and find out, see if we can figure it out for you, okay? You ready? Give her a ring, mate. Give her a ring. Okay, here we go. I'm dialing the phone right now. Hello? Hi, may I speak to Miriam, please? This is Miriam. Who's calling? The Jubal Show. It's a radio show.
Starting point is 00:08:01 My name is Jubal Fresh. My name is Alex Fresh. My name is English Evan. And I'm Christian Gray Snow. And we're calling you because one of our listeners emailed the show about you. Sorry, I'm on a radio show? What's going on? We're calling you because one of our listeners emailed us about you.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Okay, they called about me? They emailed us about you because we do a segment on our show and it's called The First Date Follow-Up. That's where if you go out on a date with someone and then you end up not calling them back, they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened. And we're wondering why you're not calling Colin back. Okay. Yeah. Colin, right. The English guy.
Starting point is 00:08:45 That is true. Yes. Look, he was kind. I just, how would you feel if you met a person and then every other word out of their mouth was babe? Babe, babe, babe. He called you babe? Yes. babe babe babe he called you babe yes oh the i babe or baby in like literally every every sentence from the time that i got here until i left i he must a hundred times on a first date
Starting point is 00:09:15 is it an english thing do you think um i have no i don't know i don't i don't know well i mean that's like a pet name that you call your significant other. Well, and also in England, it's a thing that you say to just random people. You say, oh, how you doing, babe? Like, it's more of like a... Yeah, if you're nice, if you're like, you know, extroverted, outgoing and friendly. Yeah, I mean, I don't do it. But, you know, there are people who say like, hon or honey or whatever, sweetie, things like that.
Starting point is 00:09:39 But babe? Yeah, it was just really constant. It was just after everything he said, like, babe this, babe that. What can I get you to drink, babe? What do you want for an appetizer, baby? Babe, babe, babe. Weird, yeah. It was weird and exhausting, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:54 It was definitely, it was a strange choice of word to use in that kind of frequency. Yeah, okay. How come you didn't just tell him that you didn't want to date him anymore? I don't really know. Since it was a first date, I just didn't think it was necessary. Yeah, I just knew immediately it wasn't a match, and it was just kind of like, okay, first date, I don't owe you anything, whatever. It seemed kind of like an act.
Starting point is 00:10:21 I'm not sure, honestly. It just wasn't my thing. I do think that. Do you think he's fake English? Miriam, do you think that's happening? That's not where my mind went. I guess that's a possibility now that I'm thinking about it. Did we just figure it out?
Starting point is 00:10:41 That's extreme. I don't know. Okay. Either way, you're not calling him back because him calling you babe and baby that is weird on a first date to do that on a first date that's true yeah it was just excessive yeah exactly okay i don't know sadly it was just you know 15 minutes and i was pretty uh pretty certain that this wasn't a match. Well, that just sucks. I'm sorry, what?
Starting point is 00:11:09 Oh, we didn't say anything. I think that was Colin talking too early. I didn't bring you on the phone yet, Colin, but fine. Colin is actually on the line. Mary even wants to talk to you. Okay, you're kidding. There we go. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:11:23 And we're supposed to talk about this? This is so awkward. I mean, I just, I really don't think it was that much of an obnoxious thing to do. I mean, you know, it wasn't, I mean, I was a little bit nervous, babe, you know? Now's not the time. Yeah, I don't, I'm not sure how you could see it another way. It was in every single sense. I mean, you just said it now.
Starting point is 00:11:51 I did it right now on purpose as a joke. I'm just trying to be sweet, honestly. Okay, but I'm telling you it wasn't sweet. It was exhausting. Oh, come on. I mean mean you know what i think i just don't think you know how to accept compliments oh oh i don't know i don't think that's true compliments are yeah they're not wasted on me i know how to take them i like them but i guess i don't need compliments from you i don't need to be called babe or baby in order to receive them. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:29 It's a bit, you know, it's a little bit like a nervous tick to me, Miriam. Right. I mean, back at home, like I call everyone that. Right. I call my friends, babe. I call my sister, babe. I call my mom, babe. I call my, you know.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Yeah, he's used to saying it. My dog, babe. Like, it's just, listen, but I promise you, I have a far wider vocabulary. I mean, he seems sweet. He does seem like a nice guy, Miriam, I will say. You do, yes. You seem nice. I like your genuine apology, I guess, for the word.
Starting point is 00:12:59 And you're beautiful. Come on. Oh, look at him. He's pouring it on. What was that? Say that again, Colin. I said, you're beautiful. I mean, you know.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Sorry, say that one more time. Really? Really? No, I liked it with the accent. That sounded nice. You are absolutely stunning. I mean, please. That sounds great without the baby, right? I promise you, you won't even hear that word.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Well, let me ask you a question. I think now I know the answer to this one. Would you like to go on another date with Colin? We'll pay for it. That did sound nice. I got, yeah, you just can't, you cannot use the word. That's the deal. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:53 You have, you have an absolute deal. 100% promise. That's amazing. One day you're going to be able to go to this castle. You mean castle? Castle Whatever it's called Congratulations Colin you got another date Thank you gentlemen
Starting point is 00:14:15 Thank you ladies You kids have fun Thanks See even my dog Decided I got another date. All right. What? Yeah, knock it.
