We get that other person on the phone to see why they're "ghosting".Dominic is on the phone and is not getting a call back from Valerie. The Jubal Show on demand. First date follow-up. Dominic is on the phone today for a first date follow-up, and Dominic took his poll out on his first date, and now he's not getting a call back.

Why did you have to start with that? He broke the rules. We'll get to the poll in just a second. But first, Dominic, how long has it been since your date with Valerie? Yeah, so we went out about a week and a half ago. Week and a half, all right. 11 days. Nothing, I'm counting.

Have you reached out a lot, though? Have you tried to bug her a lot since your date? Yeah, yeah. I mean, I thought the first date was like, it was great. You know, we... Like I said, you took your pole out. Impressive. Yeah, well, a fishing pole.

Yeah. You said you guys went fishing on your first date. Tell us about that. Yeah, and she seemed like she was super into it. Y'all admitted the date wasn't perfect, right? But it just took me a while to kind of rent the boat. And it was a different boat than I was used to, so it took me a minute to kind of figure out how to actually operate it.

You don't know how to drive a boat, do you? Oh, gosh. Don't worry, I don't either. I mean, it's harder than it looks, you know. I just wanted to make the date special special it was supposed to be real romantic but uh by the time i actually got the boat going i was a mess i was sweating i had like a funkadunk smell so you think you smelled bad on your date i i think i stunk yeah i mean you're in the perfect spot to stink though because you i don't know what is in this water, but it smells terrible, doesn't it?

Oh, trust me. Once I figured out how to get the boat going, I was, like, aware of where the wind was, and I was like, I'm going to stay downwind. Oh, my God. I mean, then I let it go because she started laughing, having a good time. We even caught a fish. Really? How big was it? Like a 12-pound fish, you know?

That's some meat to it. That's a big one. Yeah, I thought we were having a really good time, and then she just went like Mission Impossible ghost protocol on me. How did you guys part ways? Did you kiss? Did you kiss the fish? Did you hold the fish up to her mouth and move its mouth and go, I'll hope to see you later?

And do a little funny fish voice moving its lips? That'd be hilarious. Wait, were you there? Oh, no. Thank you for catching me. I hope to see you later. I didn't do the voice, but I did kiss the fish, and then I tried to get her to kiss the fish.

Did you actually? Yeah, yeah. I thought it was a fun idea. You know, we were playing around, and maybe it was the fish kiss, but it's hard to say. Fish kiss. Fish kiss.

Fish kiss. I kind of wanted a little kiss after that. And I don't know if it was because you kissed the fish or. You kissed the fish and then you tried to kiss her? Yeah, but I wanted her to kiss the fish too. I thought it was going to be like my end show. You know, we both kissed the fish now. I would.

Did she kiss either one of you? Absolutely. Ew. Did she kiss either one of you, the fish or you? The fish and I both struck out. Oh, good. Okay. She was laughing. She was laughing.

She was laughing. It wasn't like creepy, you know? It was like, we're having a good time. Was she laughing with you or at you, though? Or like uncomfortably. Or that. I mean, it was laughter. We talked about a second date.

I don't get it. Even though there wasn't a kiss at the end. Well, there was a kiss. You kissed a fish. Still a kiss. I mean, yeah. If you want to get technical, at least I did get a kiss. It was an unwilling participant.

Well, that's never good. And you think the reason she's not calling you back is because of the body odor or the fish kissing? It could be a combination. Or maybe she had too good of a time that she's just worried about you. Can't top it. Okay, well. Well, I don't know. She's just been busy or something. And we haven't been able to cross streams again, you know?

Okay, well, we'll see if we can get your streams to cross up. Who doesn't make her kiss animals? Maybe. Maybe she's dating that fish now. We don't know. Have you seen the fish since your date? Has the fish been around? I ate the fish.

I didn't know who was laughing. You ate the fish. Oh, yeah, no, I ate the fish. Maybe she met another fish I ate the fish. I didn't know who was laughing. You ate the fish. Oh, yeah, no, I ate the fish. Maybe she met another fish on the water then. I don't know. I thought of her

the whole time. I was like, wow, she'd really love to be eating this with me. And that was actually my plan for date two was, you know, we ate the fish together.

Yeah, that's always my plan on a date. Anyway, we will play a song and then we'll come back and we'll call her and see if we can figure out why she's not calling you back and get you another date, okay?

All right. I mean, I'd love to go out. You know, we could have someone else drive the boat next time, right? You know, it's... Yeah. Okay. Third party. Yeah, that isn't a fish.

Let's get it. All right. We'll play a song, come back, and then call her and get your first date followed next, okay? Sounds good. We'll do it next. In the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Dominic is on the phone, and Dominic is not getting a call back from Valerie.

They went fishing together. And Dominic thinks that there were multiple reasons why she might not be calling him back. First, he smelled bad because he was trying to get the boat started for so long. Yeah, not fishy. Just BO. Because he was sweaty, trying to get the boat started. He couldn't get it started. So he was sweaty and stinky.

He thinks that might have been what started the bad things on the date. Then he tried to stay downwind from her while he was driving the boat so she didn't have to smell it. It didn't seem to bother her too much because she seemed to tune back in. They fished for a little while. They caught a fish. He thought everything went great. And the end of the date, though, is another thing that could have gone wrong because they

caught a fish. He actually gave the fish a kiss as a joke. She laughed, but then he tried to get her to kiss the fish. She would not kiss the fish. Then Dominic tried to kiss her. She would not kiss him. So she left, hasn't talked to Dominic. Dominic left with the fish, took it home, and ate it.

And this is where we're at. Dominic, is that a pretty good recap of your date? Yeah, I mean, it doesn't sound too bad, actually, when you reply back to me like that. I also just want to give Dominic some kudos because we often have callers that are not very self-aware. He's calling. He's like, yeah, I had BO. I tried to get her to kiss a fish. There's plenty of reasons why she might not want to go out.

And it's not going to be any of those. Watch. And never is. And never is. But he still wants to give it a try. Good for him. All right. We're going to call her right now and see if we can figure it out for you and see if

Do you ever listen to the show um i have actually yeah okay but how can i help you well we're calling you today because we got an email about you from somebody who listens to our show too and they want to know why you're not calling

them back because you went on a date with them and then ghosted them oh so this is a first date follow-up yes it is you guessed it the segment where if you go on a date with someone and then end up ghosting them they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened you recently went fishing with a dude named dominic didn't you yeah i remember dominic yeah that's good it wasn't that long ago if you forgot i'd be like maybe you're not calling him back because you have memory problems yeah bad short-term memory that That's what it is. He told us about your date. He thought you had a good time.

Why aren't you calling him back? I didn't really have a great time. He had a great time. I absolutely hate fishing. Oh. Oh. Yeah, that wouldn't be the most fun date for me either. That would be the worst date for you then.

Yeah. And he told us that he made you try to kiss a fish. Like, absolutely not. I would have slapped him in his face. And I've never slapped anybody in my life. Oh, yeah. I slapped that fish right out of his hand back into the water. Yeah, I was so aggravated by that. That was the most annoying

part of the whole date. I just couldn't believe this guy. If you didn't like fishing, why'd you go fishing with him? Literally. Like, you should have known that was going to be a terrible date, right? Yeah, I kind of had a feeling that it wasn't going to go so well, but I wanted to, like, get from the benefit of the doubt, make me a believer that fishing is actually fun. You're better than me because if I'm not into something, what I'm not going to do is go be trapped on a boat with a stranger.

No, definitely not. And fishes. Yeah, it wasn't probably one of my best decisions. Yeah. So he told, I mean, he was honest about it. We talked to him about your date. He said that he had trouble getting the boat started that he rented. He said he was sweaty and he might have had some BO.

Did he have BO? Oh, yeah. Okay. He definitely did. All right. So he did have BO then. His hips were sweaty. He had a big back sweat stain.

It was like. So that's actually the reason. It was just the date just in general going fishing and then him being all sweaty and stinky and you don't like fishing anyway and then wanting to make out with a fish at the end. That's actually what it is. That's the reason you're not calling him back? Yeah. It just sounds like too much.

Terrible date all day. Yeah, just too much. Like bad vibing. Yeah. I wanted him to like go with a fish, but he murdered it right there in front of me. Murdered? Did you tell him to stop? I expected him to throw it back.

I thought that's like what you had to do. You know what? I would never play pickup basketball with no score. What is the point of catching these things just to put a hook in their mouth and throw them back in? That's worse, I think, than catching them. Like, throw them back in there. Like, what just happened? Holy crap.

And then tell all their other fish friends. And all their other fish friends are like, yeah, right. You expect me to believe that there are these big things that are above the water that come down every once in a while, hook you in the mouth, take you out, look at you, talk about the size of you, and then throw you back in? Yeah, right. Valerie, I do have to let you know, you might not like this, too. He's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you. Oh, yeah.

Okay. What? I thought you knew that, though. Like, you listen, I thought. That's what you said. I just f***ing forgot. All Like, you listen, I thought. That's what you said. I just f***ing forgot. Oh, all right. That happens, I guess.

Yeah, he's been on the phone the whole time. Yeah, the fish murderer is on the phone, unless he had to hang up because the cops are hot on his trail. Dominic, are you still there? Dom? Oh, yeah, I'm here. Hey, Dom. Hey, Dom.

Hi. I thought we had a good time. Yeah, I know you had a good time. Yeah. I know you had a good time. You were having a great time out there, but I just hated this. I'm so sorry. I hate fishing. If you had said, you know, like, I hate fishing, I would have never taken you fishing. Like, there's plenty of things we could go and do.

Yeah. Really not interested at all in going on another date. I mean, really? Like, I feel like, I feel like your profile said that you want an experience. I feel like this was a f***ing experience. We gotta ask her. Ask her what she likes. Yeah, I just did not want to go

fish murdering with you. Okay, it's definitely not fish murdering. People eat fish. Well, what else do you call it, though? Is the fish still alive? Yeah. Fishing.
