Follow the Big Take podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen. The Jubal Show on demand. First date follow-up. Reagan is on the phone today for a first date follow-up, and she's getting ghosted by a dude named Eric. Reagan, on the phone today for a first date follow-up, and she's getting ghosted by a dude named Eric. Reagan, thank you for your email.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Before we get into the date and stuff, how long has it been since you talked to Eric? It's been at least over a week that I've heard from him. And have you tried to reach out to him a bunch? Yeah, yeah. I have texted him. I even called him, you know, left a message. I'm really surprised that he's ghosting me.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Tell us a little bit about the date and Eric. Eric is great. I, man, it was a really, really good date. And I've gone on a few really crappy dates in the last month. It's been pretty bad. Was it a good date by comparison or it was actually a good date? You know, like it was a good day,
Starting point is 00:02:30 like in every way, like that you would want a date to go. Um, we went, we had sushi and we went to Damon Buster's. It was, it was so fun. Uh,
Starting point is 00:02:42 we played skeeball and we talked and laughed and shared sushi rolls. And it was just very romantic and playful and lighthearted. But also like the conversation. And he's cute and he smells good and like everything. Everything he wants. He's so great. But we just really connected and seemed to have so much in common and then yeah so i'm not i'm not hearing back from him and i got the impression
Starting point is 00:03:13 that he was really having fun too and like he uh he had even said like i can't wait till we do this again oh wow um i had the best time and we were just talking about dating and how it's weird and how this is so natural. And it's just very surprising. How did the date end? See, that's the thing. That's the one thing I'm like, did I play too hard to get?
Starting point is 00:03:40 I didn't go in my house thinking anything, you know, like questioning myself. It's been more like after not hearing from him. But when he dropped me off, he walked me to my door and he went in to kiss me. And I like pulled back. I was like, not on the first date. And we hugged and he laughed. And it was a really sweet, warm hug. And I don't know, he didn't strike me as the kind of guy who would write me off for that.
Starting point is 00:04:12 It felt to me like it would make him want to see me sooner rather than later. What was his mood like when you said no to the kiss? Did he look deflated? No, he laughed i think and then the way i hugged him too like let him know that i was i was genuinely like let's just we got time you know we don't have to go there too quickly and he laughed about it and was just super sweet and held my eyes when he walked away you know like we, we had such good chemistry. I thought it was actually very romantic.
Starting point is 00:04:49 I was going to say, it sounds very romantic. Yeah. And I thought about like during the date also, like really from beginning, middle to end, like what could it have been? And I cannot think of anything. He even said that I was, like, probably, like, the most beautiful woman he has seen. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Like, real and genuinely. Like, it wasn't even, like, it didn't feel gamey or anything. I mean, for him to say all that and then to ghost you after, it seems very, like, catch and bait. Like, he's very, like, in it and you after. It seems very like catch and bait. Like he's very like in it and like wanted to like woo you. And then whenever he left, he's like got in his own head or something. I don't know. I've been with guys who've been like that, like super cool.
Starting point is 00:05:39 And then really that's all they were after. I didn't get that from him. It didn't feel like that at all. All right. Well, let's see if we can figure it out. Then we'll play a song, come back, and then we'll call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting you and see if you want another date after you hear the reason why next, okay? Okay, thank you all. All right, we'll play a song, come back, and get your first date follow-up next.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Regan is on the phone, and she's getting ghosted by Eric. They went to Dave and Buster's together. They had sushi, and it's been over a week and she hasn't heard anything from him and she doesn't know why. So we're about to call Eric and get him on the phone and see if he'll tell us and then see if Reagan wants another date after she hears what the reason is. She thinks the reason
Starting point is 00:06:15 that she's not getting a call back from Eric is the fact that at the end of the date he leaned in to kiss her and she slapped him right in the face. Hard. You didn't slap him. Okay, you just told him no. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:29 But she said it was playful and that they shared like a long hug, and it was actually a really nice moment. That's the way you describe it, Reagan, right? Yeah. That's what it seemed like to me. Okay. But after the date, he left and has not talked to her since, so she doesn't really know why she's getting ghosted.
Starting point is 00:06:45 We're about to call him and see if we can figure it out. Are you ready, Reagan? Yes. I would love to know what's up. Okay, here we go. I'm going to dial this phone number right now. Hello? Hey, what's up? Can I speak to Eric, please? Yeah, this is Eric.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Eric, how are you? This is The Jubal Show. It's a radio show. My name's Jubal. My name's Victoria. I'm Christian Gray Snow. We got an email about you from somebody that you're ghosting, and they want to know why. Do you have any idea who would have emailed us?
Starting point is 00:07:21 Yeah. Are you talking about Reagan? Yes, I am talking about Reagan. She emailed us and told us about your date to Dave and Buster. She said that she thought you guys had a great time, and she was surprised that after your date, you just didn't talk to her at all. And she wants to know why.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Yeah, I mean, no, like, the date was great. She was an awesome person, but, like, just a few things she did, I just, like, like the great, they was great. She's an awesome person, but like just a few things she did. I just, I couldn't, I just couldn't get over. So what things are you talking about? Like what things did she do? Well, it all started like, she just like flicked her hair one time and I was just like, I was like, Oh, why? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Like she flicked her hair and it was just like it was just the same way my my ex used to flick her hair and then she said like the word tomato and it's just like the same way my ex would say it so i was like i was trying not to get in my head and then we ordered like the same sushi rolls and then she asked to split like one of the sushi rolls that me and my ex used to split and it just kept reminding me of my ex she just had like the same mannerisms as my ex and she ordered the same food and i was like man i'm i'm not trying to get back with my ex i mean you're really not going to call her back just because of that i mean it's just she's just everything she did was just reminding me of my ex.
Starting point is 00:08:46 I couldn't help it. But like her personality, was it the same as your ex or was just the little nicks and tricks what bothered you? No, her personality was great. Just my ex had a horrible personality. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Okay, so the one thing that she had that was definitely not like your ex was Reagan, the girl you went on a date with, had a great personality, and your ex not so much. Yeah, my ex had the personality of a pumpkin. Reagan's personality was great. Personality of a pumpkin. I've never heard anybody's personality described as a pumpkin before.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Thank you for that, Eric. Yeah, I dated a pumpkin for four years. I don't think, I mean, I know Reagan's not a pumpkin, but I don't want to take the chance. All right. I mean, you could have at least texted her. Yeah. I just didn't know what to text her. Like, what was I supposed to text her?
Starting point is 00:09:36 Like, hey, you seem cool, but you remind me of my ex, and my ex had a pumpkin personality. Like, what was I supposed to say? Well, thank you for being honest eric appreciate that also i do want to let you know that reagan is actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you oh no hi reagan you don't have the personality of a pumpkin i just want you to know that like thanks thanks i've been more of a watermelon uh what does that mean you're great i really do but i'm sorry i didn't text you but like i just so much stuff you just reminded my on my ex and my ex was just so dry and hollow just like a pumpkin i thought how could i be great if i remind you that much of your ex and you see her like that i mean i don't know i thought we had a really good time
Starting point is 00:10:33 no no we did we had a great time so you had a great time with me and you, you like my personality. Like you think I have a better personality than your ex, but because I, I play with my hair or flip my hair or whatever, the same way she does, you don't call or return my texts. Okay. Like, I don't know. That just seems weird. It does. Yeah. Yeah. When you put it that way, it does sound like stupid and stuff. I mean, I did have a good time. Like, I'm not going to lie,
Starting point is 00:11:11 but like, maybe it is me, but I mean, if you want to give it like, I mean, we can go out again if you want. You want to go out again,
Starting point is 00:11:19 maybe? Oh. Oh. What do you think, Reagan? Hey, would you like to go on another date with Eric?
Starting point is 00:11:24 We'll pay for it. Hmm. Um, you know, Regan? Hey, would you like to go on another date with Eric? We'll pay for it. Hmm. You know, originally, yeah, I would have jumped on that, but now I don't think so. I think he's got to work on some things and get over his ex or get over his judgment of her because I would just be so self-conscious if every like I'd be worried that if I laughed a certain way or if I sneezed I'd remind you of her so I think maybe like once you have some time getting over that but no not right now no like I'm over her. Like, I swear I really am over her. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:08 I mean, you didn't return like three texts and a phone call simply because I flipped my hair like her. So that's not a sign of somebody being over anybody. You may not want to date her, but she's on your mind, obviously. It's true. You're not a pumpkin though at all right i'm not a pumpkin i'm glad that you see that yeah i'm i'm also not your ex-girlfriend and your next date it's not a, but it's a not right now. Okay. Maybe in a couple months or maybe a couple years, you know, whenever you're over that pumpkin. Oh, all right.
