First date follow up. Jerome is on the phone today for. First date follow-up. Jerome is on the phone today for a first date follow-up. He's getting ghosted by Tabitha.
Starting point is 00:01:51 And he has no idea why. So we're going to help him out. See if we can figure out why he's getting ghosted. And if he still wants another date after he finds out why, maybe even get him another date. What's up, Jerome? How are you? I'm hanging in there.
Starting point is 00:02:02 How are you doing? Are you only hanging in there and not great because Tabitha isn't calling you back? Yeah, I don't really know what to do. All right. Well, let's see if we can figure it out for you. Before we get into your date and all the reasons that you loved Tabitha so much, you didn't tell her you love her, did you? No.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Okay, good. All right. How long has it been since you talked to Tabitha? Like almost a week. And how many times have you reached out to her? Twice. Okay. And did she respond at all?
Starting point is 00:02:33 Nothing. Let's talk about the date then. What did you and Tabitha do? We went out to dinner. She was hot, you know, really, really hot. Okay. You know, people were looking at us, like, I think we were like a hot couple and we all sparked, like she was really interesting.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And we, we have a lot of stuff in common, like movies and she's got an interesting job. Like we were just clicking. I don't know. It was just, it was a great date. Okay. So you felt like you, you did, you felt like you had a bunch of chemistry. Do you think she felt the same towards the end? You know, it started to feel like she got a little distant with me, but like, but not really. And then, you know, like we kissed at the end of the date. Like, I feel like she was in it. Like she seemed focused.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Was it a passionate kiss or was it just kind of like, you know, you went in for a kiss and she kissed you because she kind of had to? I, yeah, I don't know, man. My heart was racing so fast. It's like tough for you and I just placed it, but. My heart was racing so fast it's like tough to even place it. It's been it, by the way. You said at some point she kind of grew
Starting point is 00:03:31 distant. What happened if anything before she grew distant? Dinner was great. And then after dinner, we were deciding where to go. When we first matched on Tinder, it was kind of like, things got pretty sexual. So it was you know when we first like matched on tinder it was kind of like you
Starting point is 00:03:45 know things got pretty sexual so it was like okay you know so where are we going next kind of thing like maybe a bar like maybe my place your place whatever but she just her demeanor got a little different like she's a little closed off she was kind of like pulled out her phone like wasn't really like looking at me that much i was listening a bunch of places she should go you know we could go like i don't want her to feel pressured or whatever. But then, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:04:07 it just seemed weird and she was like, well, I'll take a rain check on it. Like, you know, I'll text you. She said like,
Starting point is 00:04:15 I'll text you and we can like figure it out and then just nothing. Okay, so she got weird. Did anything happen that you noticed to make her weird or?
Starting point is 00:04:24 The only thing I can think of is I had something sent back at one point. Like food? Yeah, because I'm just weird about onions. My friends always give me crap for it because I'm just kind of a picky eater. I specifically asked for no onions, and then it came with onions on it. And I was real respectful of the waiter, and I just asked him, can you please take this off the bill, and I sent it back. But that was it, and I thought I was real respectful of the waiter and I just asked him you know can you please take this off the bill and I sent it back but that was it and I thought I was pretty nice about it I know that for some people they don't it doesn't matter if you're nice about it it
Starting point is 00:04:54 doesn't matter if you're rude about it sending your food back is just always disrespectful some people hate it when you do that even if you got the complete wrong thing I could see how that might be a thing was it after that that her mood kind of changed yeah oh yeah i guess so because that's sort of well yeah i mean it changed a little bit after that and then at the end of dinner it also changed more so that's when you noticed it okay you know i get 15 you know i always do my thing okay i mean i also feel like when like you asking for it to be taken off the bill versus a server saying, I'll take it off the bill can be perceived a little different. So that could be it.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Yeah, that must have been it. It wasn't the fact that you sent the food back or anything, but the fact that you asked him to take it off the bill. Yeah, I didn't even think about that. So you guys started really talking about it. It had to have been that. Okay. All right. Well, we'll call her and find out.
Starting point is 00:05:43 We'll play a song, come back and then call her and see if that is the reason that you're getting ghosted with your first date to have been that. Okay. All right. Well, we'll call her and find out. We'll play a song, come back, and then call her and see if that is the reason that you're getting ghosted with your first date follow-up next, okay? Okay. All right. It's the Duel Show.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Right in the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Jerome is on the phone and he's getting ghosted by Tabitha. They went out to dinner and he said he had a great time. They really clicked. He even got a kiss at the end of the night
Starting point is 00:06:04 and now she's not calling him back. And the only reason, Jerome, what's the reason, again, that you think she might be ghosting you? Well, I think it might be because I had something sent back and taken off the bill when we were eating. You don't like onions, right? That's what you said, Jerome? Yeah, yeah. I don't like onions. And I asked for onions.
Starting point is 00:06:20 You know, without onions, it came with onions on it. And so Jerome sent it back. And you promised you didn't get in a fight with the server or throw a fit. Or throw a punch. No. No. No, no, no. Okay. Alright. Well, we'll see why she's ghosting you and see if we can get you another date if you still want one right now.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Alright. You ready to call her? Yeah. Alright. Here we go. hello hi i was looking for tabitha uh this is she hey tabitha what's up how are you my name is jubal from a radio show called the jubal show and there's three other people with me so there's four people on the phone right now. Hello. Hi. Hi, guys. Have you ever listened to the radio show before? Yeah, totally.
Starting point is 00:07:13 That makes me slightly worried. What's up? This is a first date follow up. That's why we're calling. You know what that is, right? I do. Yeah. Yeah. That's where if you go out on a date with someone and then you ghost them, that person
Starting point is 00:07:24 can email us to get you on the phone and ask why you've been ghosting them. And we got an email about you, Tabitha. Oh, yeah? From who? Do you want to guess, Tabitha? Okay, so if they're feeling ghosted, I have a feeling you're calling about Broke *** Jerome.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Tell us how you really feel. We just know him as Jerome. I didn't know Broke *** Jerome. Tell us how you really feel. We just know him as Jerome. I didn't know Broke *** was his first name. I don't know if it was before the day, but it's his first name now. Oh, no. Oh, gosh. Okay. Yeah, it's Jerome, and he wants to know why you've been ghosting him.
Starting point is 00:07:58 I'm guessing Broke *** has something to do with it, or maybe you just call him that for fun. Listen, I'm just saying, like like all the fine in the world, that man is fine, but all the fine in the world don't pay bills. And with all due respect, homie took me to Chili's for our first date, which was fine. It's like whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Chili's is amazing. That was my first date spot in high school all through high school. Never did me wrong. Okay, but like a first date at Chili's in high school is fine. That's cool. We aren't in high school never did me wrong okay but like a first date at chili's in high school is fine that's cool we aren't in high school anymore and also getting declined at a chili's is pretty rough especially since there was no backup card on hand and i ended up paying for everything so things happen did he offer to like venmo you back or apple pay or anything like
Starting point is 00:08:40 because maybe his car just wasn't you know i mean things happen no okay okay just no no i mean usually if your card gets declined you start you know you either know why it got declined because you're overdrawn and make up excuses or you're like i don't know what happened with this card and then you feel like they're gonna think you're lying you know what i mean okay but like listen like i don't want to sound mean okay i've been through some rough times. I've been broke as s***. It's all good. But my big beef here was like during the meal too, he's like making jokes about how I'm doing so well for myself
Starting point is 00:09:11 as a film critic and like, do I need a house husband to take care of things while I'm gone? I'm like, you're just digging the hole, dude. You're digging the hole. He's definitely trying to be kept. Yeah, which I support. It's just you gotta find someone who wants to do that. And you also gotta find the correct way to deliver.
Starting point is 00:09:27 So you just basically think he was trying to use you for money? I'm not trying to be a sugar mama. I'm looking for a partnership. And it started to feel a little, I don't know, I saw some red flags. And then at the end of the date, he's like, oh yeah, I borrowed my friend's car
Starting point is 00:09:44 to get here. And I was like, that's it. I'm done. day, he's like, oh, yeah, I borrowed my friend's car to get here. And I was like, that's it. I'm done. Oh, wow. Check, please. If he did explain what the money situation was or, you know, just have that conversation with you, would you give him a second chance? Because you keep on saying he's so fine. And, you know, maybe some transparency will help you guys get back together. I mean, at this point, yeah, I guess it would at least be nice to know there was a reason and not just like being exploited because I'm at one of the, finally at a good place in my life.
Starting point is 00:10:15 And I don't know. He's on the line listening and been listening this whole time and wants to talk to you. So let's ask him. Oh my God, y'all did not tell me he was on. Sorry, I forgot about that. You said you listened. Yeah, figured you knew. I forgot did not tell me he was on. Sorry, I forgot about that. You said you listened. Yeah. Figured you knew.
Starting point is 00:10:27 I forgot. It's been a long week. Whoops. Hi, Jerome. Well, I do have money, so I don't know. She said how much, though. I don't want to know how much. Just kidding.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Please don't tell me that. No, the card thing, the bank screwed up because I had a new card. Oh, okay. I know it sounds convenient, but, like, and Chili's, like, what she's not bringing up, also, to defend myself on the radio, is that when we were talking on Tinder, she had mentioned, you know, that Chili's was her favorite place to go when she was younger. And so, you know, I would have taken her to a nice place, but I was trying to, like, show her that I was listening to her and I care about her. Okay. That's kind of cute.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Yeah. Okay, Jerome, you get one brownie point there because that is actually pretty cute. All right. There you go. Okay. All right. I'm back. As far as the car goes, that was on me.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I probably shouldn't have said that i borrowed my friend's car but i have a car i got a honda civic i got just a regular you know normal car but my homie works at a dealership and so i wanted to impress you and so you know i had asked him to hook it up so that i could have like you know nice wheels when i took you out like you know i didn't want to be dishonest and like tell you that that was my car or like pass off like it was my own. So I wanted to be honest with you. So you were nervous? Yeah. You kind of messed up your words because you were nervous.
Starting point is 00:11:51 I know. It's just kind of impressive. No, I mean, it makes sense. It tracks. It's fine. I don't make a ton of money, but I make enough money to take a woman out to a chili dinner. Especially if they put onions on something, I send it back. Okay. I'm sorry that
Starting point is 00:12:08 I was harsh. I actually feel really bad now. As far as the sugar mama thing goes, I was joking around, but that doesn't sound too bad to just hang out at home. And if you need me to just lay there on the couch with my shirt off looking good all day, I'll do that.
Starting point is 00:12:23 I'm not sure that's what she wanted to hear. You did say he was sexy, Tabitha. I don't know. He's driving a hard bargain, guys. But listen, this is all to say it's all true, and I'm really bad at first impressions. You know, if you're willing to give me another chance, I would love to take you out again and prove that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Well, Tabitha, would you like to go on another date with Jerome? We'll pay for it. Jerome. We will. No cards declining please ask. Okay. Well, Tabitha, would you like to go on another date with Jerome? We'll pay for it. Jerome, we will. No cards declining this time. Okay. So, first of all, I just really need to say that if all this is true, you suck at first impressions, Jerome. I'm just
Starting point is 00:12:58 laying it down, okay? I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just letting you know. No, I'll go out again with you. Oh, congratulations. I'll tell you what out again with you. Oh, yay! I'll tell you what sealed the deal for me. It's nice to know that someone's actually listening to what you have to say. Oh, yeah. See the Chili's thing.
Starting point is 00:13:13 That's so true. Jerome, I'm sorry that I called you bro. Jerome, that was not necessary. I really do mean it. I'm so sorry. No, it's okay. It's okay. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:13:24 We'll make nice. I got sorry. No, it's okay. It's okay. It's all right. We'll make nice. I got you. Oh, and real quick, I just want to say that the Chili thing is really sweet, but if that happens more than like twice, that's not going to be an excuse to not make nice. You better write that down, Jerome. Yeah, no, I got it. Just dollar menu McDonald's. I hear you.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Oh, okay. I got you. Oh, I swear to Lord. The Jubal Show on demand. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the homestretch right in time for a new season of my podcast. Next question.
