The Jubal Show on demand.
First date follow up.
Dana is on the phone today for a first date follow up and she's not getting a call back from a dude named Rex.
Rex.
That's a cool name.
Like Rex from Desperate Housewives.
Or like T-Rex.
Yeah.
Or that.
I've never actually known a Rex.
Have you guys ever known a Rex?
Now we do.
He's on the line.
Well, no, he's not.
Oh.
He's the one that's ghosting Dana.
Never mind.
Yeah.
So that's how Dana feels. Dana. Sorry, Dana.
I didn't know a Dana, though. Yeah. Dana,
how are you? Hi.
I'm okay.
So, you went out with a dude named
Rex and now Rex isn't calling you back.
Yeah, no. No call
back. It's a total bummer.
Yeah. How long has it been since
your date with Rex? It's been a total bummer. How long has it been since your date with Rex?
It's been a couple weeks now.
A couple weeks. And how many times have you tried to reach out to him in those couple weeks?
You know, a few times. I don't think
anything crazy. Just, you know,
trying to check in, see what's going on.
And you've received nothing back?
Nope. Just total ghosted.
Dang. That's the worst.
Tell us about your date. Why do you think Rex isn't calling you back?
Well, I mean, for the most part, we had a really great time.
You know, we saw a movie in the park.
It was great.
Oh, that's fun.
Yeah.
I mean, there's one thing that I can think of that might have caused this.
Okay.
What happened?
Tell us.
So, I still live with my parents.
Oh, well, how old are you?
I'm 29.
Okay. Oh.
What's the reason that you live with your parents?
I mean, it's just, I'm saving
money and they're pretty
chill. It's like, I don't know.
It's just easy. Well, okay.
I hear that.
I mean, yeah. Not that many bills of you must be nice
but so like he found out or he knows that you live with your parents and then like what did
he say about it i i feel like he just kind of got a little bit quiet he i it was just it was
a weird vibe like i can't really put a pin on it but that's the only thing i can think of that kind
of derailed the great time we were having do you know who he lives with or if he lives by himself?
He lives by himself.
Okay.
And just curious, have you like lived with your parents your whole adult life or did you, you know, move away for school?
Did you ever move out and then move back?
Good question.
Yeah, I had moved out for college and then I came back and, you it wasn't the plan to stay but they just made
it really easy so I was like I'll save up
money and that way when I'm
going to have a reason to go I can go
Man your parents are better parents than me
Like if I liked my parents and my
parents if I liked my parents
and my parents didn't mind I probably would live
with them forever why not
not have to pay for things like if they let you do whatever
you want like if your parents were cool.
For me, it's the homemade meals.
Hello.
Free housing. My parents didn't cook homemade
things.
I mean, man.
I moved out when I was 16
and a half, almost 17.
Dang.
I've been living on my own for a long time. I wish I was
29 and live with my parents. I got pregnant at 17.
So that's pretty nice.
But, um, so his mood changed after he found that out.
Yeah.
It just, it, it just, I mean, I hope that's not it.
I don't know.
That's why I'm looking at you guys for help.
Was there anything else on the date that was awkward at all?
Uh, you know, no. I mean, we had a good conversation. We were like cuddling. Was there anything else on the date that was awkward at all?
You know, no.
I mean, we had a good conversation.
We were like cuddling in the movie. It seemed like it was going to be going somewhere.
And it just kind of had now an abrupt stop.
So when it ended, how did it end with you guys?
So, you know, we said goodbye.
We both had a great time. you know, we said goodbye.
We both had a great time.
You know, a little kiss.
Nothing crazy.
But I thought it would go somewhere, but it just didn't.
Did you guys meet there or did he pick you up?
He picked me up from my parents' house.
Oh, okay.
And then so the kissy kiss was at your parents' house?
Well, not like at the front door.
Oh, yeah. It's like a movie.
Your dad's going to open the door?
Get your hands off my daughter. She's only 29. She's not 29. Oh, yeah. It's like a movie. Your dad's going to open the door. Get your hands off my daughter.
She's only 29.
She's not dating until she's 40.
We'll play a song, come back, and then call in and get your first date follow up next.
Okay?
All right.
Thanks.
We'll do it right after this.
In the middle of your first date follow up, if you're just joining us, Dana is on the
phone and she went out with a dude named Rex, but now Rex isn't calling her back and she
doesn't know why.
So we're about to call Rex and try to help her figure it out and try to get her another date.
Dana went with Rex to watch a movie in a park, which sounds fun.
She thought everything went great.
They were even snuggling during the movie and even ended the evening with a kiss.
But after the date, he hasn't talked to her at all and she doesn't know why.
She thinks it's maybe because she's 29 and still lives with her parents.
But other than that, she can't think of any reason why he would just ghost her like that.
And we're about to call him right now and see if we can figure it out.
Okay, Dana, you're sure there's nothing else.
It's just that's the only thing you can think of is that you live with your parents.
That's it.
Okay.
All right.
I'm going to dial this phone right now and see if that is it or if it's something else.
Here we go.
Good luck.
Hello, this is Rex.
Rex, how are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
This is Alex from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
This is Christian Snow from The Jubal Show.
It's our radio show.
Yeah, it's The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
I don't know if you've ever listened to it before, but hi.
Okay.
Hello.
Hello.
What can I do for you?
Well, we're calling you today because we got an email about you from one of our listeners.
So if you have a few minutes, it would be a pleasure to speak with you, Rex.
This ought to be interesting.
Okay.
We do a segment on our show called the First Date Follow-Up.
That's where if you go out on a date with somebody and then end up ghosting them, they
can email us to get you on the phone
and ask what happened. And we
got an email about you from
Dana. Ring a bell? Miss Dana.
Oh, Dana. Sounds like it.
She's cool. That was fun. What the hell?
Well, you said that was cool. It sounds fun.
Oh, Dana. Oh, Dana, her. Yeah, the girl
that I said. You stood our good girl Dana up.
You haven't talked to her since your date and she doesn't know why.
Yeah, that has nothing to do with her.
She was a very cool chick.
I liked it.
We had a good time.
I just found something out, though, that it just doesn't really make sense for me to date her right now.
It might be better in the future.
We want to know, but also, why can't you just not have to ghost?
Just tell her that things aren't working out, that you need time.
I mean, you're giving me job security, but it's rude, Rex, to ghost somebody like that.
It's not her.
It's really not her.
Okay.
Sure, Rex.
It's not you.
It's me.
It's me.
I'll tell you what she thinks.
It's not me either.
I'll tell you what she thinks.
And then you tell me if it's right or wrong.
Okay.
Okay.
She thinks that you ghosted her because she is 29 and still lives with her parents.
Oh no, no, no, I don't care about that. That actually makes a lot of sense to do it, you know,
in this day and age for sure. All right. No, I don't have any issue with that. Okay. So what is
it? Well, so the thing is, is that it's kind of related to that, I would say.
So I worked down at the courthouse and I happened to see her mom going to file for divorce.
And that's just so awkward that I know that.
Wait, how would you know her mom?
Well, because when I went to pick her up at her house,
I saw a woman who looked very familiar, right? And then, you know, we go out on the date and
we got to talking a little bit and suddenly it struck me where I knew her from. And it was at
the courthouse. So why is that? Why is that making you ghost her, though? Because it's like super
awkward that I don't know that Dana knows that her mom is filing for divorce.
I mean, I don't know.
I wouldn't share that with you on a first date.
Yeah, I mean, this is definitely second date conversation material, though.
It's like, hey, what are you going to have to drink?
Also, did you know your parents are splitting?
You're right.
Exactly.
Like, how do I say that?
Right.
I'm not gonna
i don't i certainly don't want to be the one who reveals to her are you sure her parents are
getting divorced are you sure it's her mom right that's what i was also gonna say like you met her
mom what for like 30 seconds like are you for sure that it was her mom also you can have a twin
literally i'm pretty good with faces i i i feel like i'm like 99.8 sure so are you saying saying this because you think that Dana doesn't know that her parents are getting divorced?
Because like she might know.
She didn't mention it.
Well, she might not.
Well, I know.
But if she I mean, she didn't mention it.
So I'm certainly not going to be the first to mention it.
I just don't see why that's the reason for you to ghost her.
Yeah.
Like I get that it's awkward for sure.
I just you know, I just try and be a super nice guy and I don't want to be the one to share that information.
I don't want to accidentally. I mean, it's kind of being around her would kind of weigh on me a little heavily if I, you know, I just have this in the back of my mind.
So I would hate to even accidentally do it.
You couldn't go out with her, though, and find out if she knows and not say it.
Yeah. I mean, yes, I actually, I could, I, I now, I mean, yeah, I could go out with her, I suppose.
And, and, you know, kind of say hi to your parents.
How are they doing?
Because it comes out of my mouth.
I'm just thinking that's a little bit of an odd question.
She does live with her parents.
So you could, you know, ask about that.
But, and, you know, she also might just not want to tell you because it is pretty personal
she might be going through it with that but
unless you're waiting for her mom to get
divorced so that you can jump in there
okay for the love twist
oh my god
that wasn't done by my mom
is that the play Rex you want
to get with the mom and you're just biding your time
until the divorce is final
no but that certainly would be
a topic for radio, wouldn't it?
Well, Rex, I do
have to let you know that even though you didn't want to,
you kind of told Dana, so I hope
Dana already knows because she's
actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
What? Yeah.
That's not really
good. What is fine?
What happens when you ghost people.
Dana?
Hi, Rex.
Hey.
Did you hear everything I said?
Yeah, yeah, I did.
What's going on?
Are you 100% sure?
Wait, so you don't know if your parents are getting divorced?
Not until right now.
I mean, you're 100% sure that was my mom?
I'm like 99.8% sure it's your mom.
I'm so sorry if that's the case and you're hearing it for the first time.
No, no, no.
Don't be sorry.
Don't be sorry.
I'm putting you on.
I already knew.
Oh, my God.
Okay, so you know about this, my god yeah no we already knew and like
we've been talking about it's like you know which house am i gonna live at like do i go to the
master bedroom like it's all good well that's good that you're okay with it yeah yeah you know
honestly i'm the person that's the most happy that they're getting divorced oh it's been a
long time coming they definitely did need it. Okay. Thanks.
So there you go, Rex.
Dana already knew.
Well, that is definitely a relief.
See?
Now you ghosted her for no reason.
Yeah.
I know.
I'm sorry.
I could have handled that better.
Well, you know, I appreciate you not wanting to, you know, crush my dreams of a happy family.
I do appreciate that.
Yeah, that is sweet.
I saw all that.
That's nice of you, yeah. Rex, would you like to go on
another date with Dana? We'll pay for it. I think you
already said yes, but I'll ask you again.
Yeah, let's do it. Let's get it.
Yay. Dana, do you still want to go out
with Rex? Yeah, let's do it.
It'll be fun.
We'll have a good time and
you know.
I promise I'll go see you again.
I promise I will.
No more ghosting from me.
