The Jubal Show on demand.
First date follow-up.
Josh is on the phone today for a first date follow-up,
and he's not getting a call back from Savannah.
And he thinks it might be because he's a terrible parker.
I don't know what that means, but find out more about that in just a second.
But first, Josh, how long has it been since your date with Savannah?
It's been a few weeks now.
All right, a few weeks. And how many times have you tried to reach out to her since your date with Savannah? It's been a few weeks now. All right.
A few weeks.
And how many times have you tried to reach out to her since your date?
Three.
That's a lot for me.
Okay.
Yeah.
Three times.
That's about standard.
That's a good amount to reach out.
A little bit more than that could be creepy.
A little bit less might seem like you don't care.
Three is just persistent enough.
Yes, it is.
Three is just right.
Well, let's see if we can figure it out for you. Tell us a little bit about might seem like you don't care. Three is just persistent enough. Yes, it is. Three is just right.
Well, let's see if we can figure it out for you.
Tell us a little bit about your date with Savannah.
Yeah, you know, it was kind of a long time coming.
We've known each other for a while.
I'm from a really small town, so we all kind of,
everyone knows each other. So I was really looking forward to it,
and she's really into theater.
So, you know, there's a local production, Wizard of Oz.
I was super pumped to take her to it, you know, and all that.
It was downtown.
It's going to be a whole night, you know, make a whole ordeal out of it.
That sounds cute.
I just know that if I were to go to the theater, I would be pissed off after because it just seems like you're supposed to if you go to the theater.
Like, it's never going to be as good as the first one no or the other one that you heard about that's
how i feel like theater people are it's never that good there's always a little bit of a problem with
it well i mean it makes sense i should i should have brought like a turtleneck
um okay so so you went to see that show and and then you went to dinner, and did it seem like she enjoyed herself?
Yeah, I mean, she seemed very good.
She was just a little uncomfortable.
It just kind of threw the whole thing through the play,
and then even afterwards, it just felt like there was something that was off.
She seemed to like the show, and we talked to people afterwards.
I just get it in my head about it all.
But there was, you know, before we went to eat, things got even a little weirder.
I was, you know, I had to park in front of the restaurant.
And I parked in front of the theater, too.
And I think she, I think she got a big old new SUV, right?
Like, I don't know the best kind of parallel park downtown.
It's a lot different than where I live.
And I might not have had
the best version of myself
in those moments.
What does that mean?
Yeah, I just had to pull out of the spot
probably like five times
and readjust.
Oh, no.
I had cameras on the thing.
The guy said the cameras were going to work
and the cameras were pointing these weird angles.
I should have, I don't know.
That is so embarrassing.
That really is so embarrassing.
And it sucks so bad because the hard part about it is
I'm sure normally you're pretty decent at parallel parking.
Yeah, I mean, in a normal situation.
And when you're with somebody,
and then all of a sudden you're struggling,
you find yourself just making excuses.
Normally, I'm really good at this.
I don't know what's wrong with you.
It's like if you tell somebody you're good at basketball and they show up and you miss a shot, you're like, dude, you should see me normally, though.
I make every shot.
Right, right, right.
How did you react?
Well, I mean, those are all too hitting all too close to home.
I was pretty sure that I'm usually a good parker
and driver in general.
The more I talked, the worse it got,
and the more I just rambled.
But I didn't think, you know,
once we got out of the car, I was like,
okay, moving on, everything's fine.
But, you know, just, I don't know,
it was kind of, there's a lot of small talk after that.
I really do like her, you know,
I was really looking forward to this whole thing.
So I'm guessing the date didn't end with you going,
hey, normally I'm way better than that, if you know what I mean.
That doesn't happen all the time.
You should have seen me last week with someone else.
It was way better.
Last date I had gangbusters.
This one was just a fluke.
It was a fluke.
Won't happen again. I think I did enough explainingusters. This one was just a fluke. It was a fluke. Won't happen again.
I think I did enough explaining for myself when I was parking,
so I didn't want to hammer down too much.
I just meant, did you sleep with her and then have to make an excuse about how bad it was?
And it doesn't sound like you had a good enough date to sleep with her.
How did it end?
I pulled her up to her place, and she said goodnight almost as quick as I put it in park,
and a hug and then gone. quick as I put in park and hugged and
gone. Wow. I don't know. The parallel parking is the only awkward part of the date you think of,
huh? Maybe I wasn't as well versed in Munchkin land as she wanted, but I don't know. I seemed
to enjoy my, I enjoyed the show. I think she enjoyed the show. Okay. Good food afterwards.
Well, we'll try to figure it out for you. We'll play a song, come back and then call her and get I enjoyed the show. I think she enjoyed the show. Okay. Good food afterwards. Yeah.
Well, we'll try to figure it out for you.
We'll play a song, come back, and then call her and get your first date follow-up next, okay?
Okay.
If you're just joining us for today's first date follow-up,
Josh is on the phone, and Josh isn't getting a call back from a woman he went on a date with named Savannah.
And he thinks it might be because of his parallel parking that night.
He went out with Savannah.
He took her to a local production of Wizard of oz and then they went to dinner after he thought that she
was having a really good time until they got to the restaurant and he tried to parallel park and
was having a lot of trouble doing that and it was very embarrassing and he's not sure if something
in that moment caused her to be over the date but after that she's kind of like wasn't answering him
the same as she was before he got a hug at the end of the night that, she just kind of wasn't answering him the same as she was before. He got a hug at the end of
the night, and then she left, and she hasn't talked to him
since, and he doesn't know why, so we're going to try to figure that out for him
right now. You ready to call her,
Josh? Yeah, let's do it.
All right. Let's do it.
Here we go.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Savannah, please?
This is she.
Hey, what's up, Savannah?
How are you?
This is the Jubal Show, and that is a radio show.
And my name is Jubal.
Mine's Alex.
I'm Christian Gray Snow.
Mine is Bennett.
Nice to meet you.
Hello.
Hi.
Nice to meet you guys.
You ever listen to the show before? I that sounds like a lie super caught off guard right now i listen a lot all right oh sure thank you a lot
well we do a segment on our show called the first date follow-up that's where if you go out on a
date with somebody and then you end up ghosting them they can email us to get you on the phone
and ask what happened and recently you went on a date with a dude named Josh.
Oh no.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yes,
I did.
Josh emailed us and said,
it's been a few weeks and you haven't talked to him.
He's texted you a couple of times and hasn't gotten a response.
And Josh wanted us to ask you why.
I,
okay.
I had a very nice time with Josh.
We've known each other through our trips for a while in the singles group.
And he had finally asked me to go out.
And it was very sweet.
He knows I like theater.
And so he wanted to take me to a play.
And I was very excited.
And we got to the playhouse, and he started to sound so petty, and I'm so sorry.
But he started trying to park, parallel park.
Right.
And he had no idea what he was doing he was backing in backing
out backing in backing out and i looked over at one point and there were two couples from our
church i don't know if they were going to the play or what but they were watching us. And I finally, I was so embarrassed for him. I was like, why don't you just let me park?
Okay.
Because I don't see this happening.
In front of everybody, we traded spots
and I parked, parallel parked the SUV
and then we went inside for the show.
And there were other little things,
like he didn't hold the door open when we walked in,
but I was so mortified by the parallel parking.
I honestly couldn't stop thinking about that.
Really?
It was that bad, huh?
Yeah.
It was that bad.
And then I don't, he barely got us out of the parallel spot after the show.
Oh my gosh.
How'd this guy get a license?
I have no idea.
Then we got to the restaurant.
And it would be one thing if I had had a problem parking it.
But I didn't.
I just backed it right in.
And we were good to go.
Well, thank God you were there.
So there was literally like y'all like you got out and swapped seats?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Did he get in the passenger seat with you or just watch you do it?
No, he did get in the passenger seat.
Oh, thanks.
So weird. There were people honking like i'm it's not
oh no it was very embarrassing and i know it had to be embarrassing for him and i felt bad
he's a nice guy oh so you're not literally you're not calling him back because he can't parallel
park right it's not bad dude yeah i get being embarrassed but i don't think i could not like go back to someone
because of that honestly thank thankfully you were there to help him out you know like i tried
yeah he couldn't park in the straight spot at the restaurant maybe you could teach him how to park
there you go match made in heaven, girl. Second date.
It was other things, like not holding the door for me.
I want a man who does all that.
Who can park and open a door?
Park and hold a door and pull out a chair.
I know you might be asking too much.
You know what?
You might be asking too much.
I think that's entirely possible.
Well, either way, I do know that Josh is on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
You said you listen a lot.
I forgot about that part.
I almost did, too.
Josh, you're still there, right?
Yeah, yeah, I'm here.
Hi, Josh.
Hi.
Yeah, I was hoping to ask for another date, but it doesn't sound like that's in the cards. Don't give up yet, Josh.
Well, this might be a little weird, but I wasn't really down for another date.
But I do have a friend who I think would be perfect for Josh.
What?
Can she not park either?
Maybe a little less petty than me.
No, there were a couple of things he talked about that night that made me think of her.
And I, I think he might like my friend Melody.
What do you think, Josh?
You want to, instead of a date with Savannah, cause she doesn't want to go out with you
again.
Do you want to go out with her?
That sounded really too blunt.
I'm sorry about that.
She's, um, she, yeah.
Do you want to go out with her friend Melody?
Uh, yeah. You know, why not?
We'll still pay for it.
Really?
Sure.
I mean, why not?
I'm not getting another date with Savannah, right?
Doesn't sound like it.
Savannah, is he getting another date with you?
I will enjoy seeing him at church.
But yeah, I don't think we're meant for another date.
Yeah, that's just a no there.
You're pretty sure that he'd like Melody, your friend.
I do.
I do think that he would like her.
Well, then I think this is a successful first date follow up then.
Yeah.
Josh?
Yeah, I guess so.
You might not be leaving the first date follow up with a date with a woman that you wanted a date with,
but you got a date out of the woman, right?
Yeah, it's true.
If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with, right?
That's what they say.
That's a song, right?
That's a song.
Yeah, this is awesome.
Thank you.
Thank you so much, Savannah.
I guess, can I call you and get her information information or how do you want to work that out?
OK, I will email it to you and I will see you at church on Sunday.
OK, I'll see you then. She's still like, don't call me.
