Ugh, we're so done with New Year, New You.
This year, it's more you on Bumble.
More of you shamelessly sending playlists, especially that one filled with show tunes.
More of you finding Gemini's because you know you always like them.
More of you dating with intention because you know what you want.
And you know what? We love that for you.
Someone else will too.
Be more you this year and We love that for you. Someone else will, too. Be more you this year.
And find them on Bumble.

Hey, everyone.
It's Katie Couric.
Well, the election is in the homestretch, right in time for a new season of
my podcast, Next Question. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's, to help me out, like
Ezra Klein, Jen Psaki, Astead Herndon. But we're also going to have some fun, thanks to some of my
friends like Samantha Bee and Charlemagne the God. We're going to take some viewer questions as well.
I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about?

The Jubal Show on demand.
First date follow-up.
Lisa is on the phone today for a first date follow-up,
and apparently she met a dude named Mitch at the gas station.
And now Mitch isn't calling her back.
Hopefully she didn't buy him gas.
He just used her for the money.
Hey, good morning.
I love this show.
I love your show so much.
You guys are awesome.
I love your show.
Thank you.
You went out with this dude named Mitch and now you're're getting ghosted how long has it been since your date um well it's been
a couple weeks and honestly like i met him i just like him so so much it was such a joy to
be able to you know spend our time together i like him much. How many times have you tried to reach out to him since your date?
Oh gosh. You know, I waited like a few hours after I got home and you know, I sent him a message with some emojis and then I messaged him a few more times the next day. And then I was like,
okay, Lisa, be cool. Be cool. You know, I don't want to come on too strong. But so then I was like okay Lisa be cool be cool you know I don't want to come on too strong but so then I messaged him like the next day and I've just been sending him like really cute posts
since then and like funny little things I noticed and you don't care that he's not responding but
you just keep on trying well he was the one who pursued me really but then you guys went on a
date and then he didn't he's ghosting you so like if I go on a date and the guy doesn't hit me back, I'm definitely not going to hit him back.
Well, I'm hoping that won't be the case with you guys.
I'm hoping that, you know, we'll get to the bottom of this.
Okay.
Well, tell us about your date.
I was actually at the gas station.
This guy just pulled up.
He was, you know, pumping gas at the same time I was.
And we had this just great conversation.
And he was like, hey, you know, do you want to get a drink?
I was like, well, yeah.
I was like, yeah.
At first I was just like, you know, I slowly started to like wash my my windshield to stay there longer to find out if he was like serious, you know.
And he was just like such a sweet guy.
And my guard was just so down.
And so we went.
We got drinks nearby.
You went from the gas station straight to your date?
Yeah, straight to the date.
It was like so informal and casual and fun.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, we had so much fun
and we connected on so many levels.
Okay, so I'm guessing that drinks was awesome too then.
Oh my gosh, it was just great.
But since then, honestly,
I have been really, really just spiraling a little bit
because it's like, I'm such a
happy go lucky person.
But since then, I've just been like, well, was it something I said?
I mean, I wasn't looking my best.
Obviously, I was just pumping gas, but I, you know, judged up in the car.
I like I put on my concealer, my mascara, like Just freshened up a little bit.
Gotcha.
I mean, what do you think could have gone wrong then?
He's ghosting you.
Yeah, like something during the date.
Yeah.
I mean, really, the only thing I could even think of that maybe I did wrong during the date
was that I just mentioned that, you know, I'm looking for something kind of serious.
And, yeah, I want kids.
I want a husband.
I want the whole thing.
And I do.
And it seemed like that's kind of something
that he would be looking for as well.
So I was like, yes, maybe I found my dude at a gas station.
Like who would have ever thought it, right?
Okay, so what are the things though?
So you think maybe he's not ready to settle down and you sound like you are?
Is there anything else that happened on your date that would make you think?
I mean, I don't really know.
What else do you think it could be?
I mean, we had a great time, great conversation.
Are you not leaving out any details of something that happened happened that could be awkward or or a turnoff i mean there's people don't tell us things sometimes and then we find out later that oh they um set
fire to the restaurant and you're like why didn't you tell us you're an arsonist they set fire to
the restaurant that's probably it you know nothing that i can think of you didn't talk about your ex
the whole time no i talked about the future past. You know, if he asked me out
when I wasn't looking my best,
I figured that he'd like
my look enough
to, you know,
want to see me again.
So I'm just waiting.
I need your help
to get to the bottom of it.
All right.
All right.
Let's do it.
We'll figure it out.
We'll play a song,
come back,
and then call him
to get your first date
follow-up right after this.
Right in the middle
of your first date follow-up,
if you're just joining us,
Lisa is on the phone, and Lisa
met a dude named Mitch at the gas
station. Excuse me.
Lisa met Mitch at the gas station. They literally
met at the gas station. They started
talking, and then he said, let's go get
a drink, and she said, sure. So
they went to go get a drink. She said everything
was fabulous. She really liked Mitch a lot,
but now he's ghosting her, and
she has no idea
why. So we're going to call him and see if we can figure it out. And Lisa, you promised
that you're not leaving out any details. No, I'm not. I'm really not leaving out any
details. It was just fun. It was casual. I mean, maybe I over texted a little after,
but I don't think that, well, I don't think so, but it was just so much fun. We had a
blast. All had a blast.
All right, cool.
Well, we'll call him and see if we can figure out
if he also had a blast and why he's not calling you back.
Okay, here we go.
I'm going to dial this one right now. Hello?
Hey, may I speak to Mitch, please?
This is.
Hey, what's up, Mitch?
This is the Jubal Show.
It's a radio show, and my name is Jubal.
And my name is Alex.
And I'm Christian Gray Snow.
I'm Bennett.
Yeah, I know who you guys are.
What's going on?
What's up?
Not much.
Kind of shocked, though, why are you guys calling me?
We're calling you because we do a segment on the show.
If you know the show, you might have heard it.
First day follow-up.
That's where if you go out on a date with somebody and end up ghosting them,
they can email us to get you on the phone and ask what happened.
That's why we're calling.
Somebody, we got an email about you from?
Mona Lisa?
Ah, gas station Lisa, yes.
Yeah, gas station Lisa.
She emailed us and said you're not calling her back
and she's confused.
She wants to know why, so.
Um, no, she's cool.
She's very upbeat.
A lot of energy
she's a nice person
she said that she had a blast
and thought that you guys had an awesome date
and she's confused why you're not calling her back
now
yeah no we did we had fun
we had fun
I think it's more on my side
um I'm seeing somebody oh yeah i think i just i really
got it i kind of got caught up in the moment at the gas station and i really didn't expect it to
go that way what you asked somebody out when you're in a relationship he said it's not serious
not yet we just started talking it's not like my girlfriend it's just
somebody that we just started getting you know in that conversation and stuff and a couple dates
here and there so nothing but i i do have to say i felt bad i ghosted lisa i wasn't i just i thought
it was the right thing to do to not pursue if I'm going to pursue the other.
I just, I got caught up in the moment with her.
We had a good time, and I was kind of conflicted, but I had already started with the other girl.
So, yeah, I swear I felt bad.
What a mess.
Okay.
It's on me.
Does the other girl, would she be upset if she knew that you went on a date?
Well, it's still, I don't know how she would react you know you know i don't know
if you guys have been there where you you start talking to somebody and then you meet somebody
else and you kind of have to make that decision of which way do i lean or go towards and that's
i you know i had already started talking to her and i was like i don't if i pursue this then i
wouldn't be having two issues then it would just grow larger and become bigger and it just more
they just texted her.
Like, I feel like that's kind of understandable.
Like last week I was dating this week.
I'm not.
Yeah.
Change of plans.
I think I think it was just one of those.
Like, I just didn't text her and figure maybe, you know, we just kind of not get the hint.
You know, he's not texting me.
I'm just going to kind of let it go.
Not get the hint, but get the hint.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
Well, I don't think she got the hint because she's actually on the other line listening and wants to talk to you.
She's on the line.
Hey, Mitch.
Hey, you guys.
I just want to let you know I heard about what you said, and I'm happy to know that you have love already
and I am an upbeat person.
I'm just a little sad,
but, you know, I'll get over it
and I want you to have the best happiness
and it's really great to hear from you guys
and I'm going to let you guys go, okay?
I've got to go.
Okay.
Lisa? Okay, bye, you guys. Well'm going to let you guys go. Okay? I've got to go. Okay. Bye, you guys.
Well, hold on, Lisa.
Are you okay? For real?
Yeah, I'll be fine. I need to go. Okay?
I need to go. Bye-bye.
Okay. Mitch?
Alright, she hung up. Mitch.
What the hell?
So do you want to go on a second date with Lisa?
We'll pay for it. Just kidding.
If we can find her again.
Right.
Well, no, I mean, now I feel kind of bad.
I didn't, you know, there was no malice in me not texting her back.
I just, you know.
I wouldn't say that.
You guys, there's nothing that you really owe her.
Yeah, you guys went on one spontaneous date, and you're dating.
It's not like you cheated on anybody.
You're not official with anybody yet.
You're not committed.
You can do that.
She doesn't sound like she was taking it well,
but you shouldn't feel bad about that.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, you have to generally feel bad.
Hold on a second, hold on.
Holy.
What?
What?
She just texted me.
What'd she say?
Well, she says, F you.
Oh.
Whoa.
Cheaters always be cheaters.
Oh.
Wow.
Okay.
It looks like you dodged a bullet, actually.
Yeah.
I think I made the right choice.
Yeah.
And she's saying, she says, if i see you at the gas station again
your car is going up in flames
wow it sounds like okay it does sound like she took that very well watch your back yeah
wow all right well i was gonna get rid of this car anyway so she won't know.
There you go. Go trip in today.
All right. Well, good luck on your actual other relationship. Good luck in life.
Yeah. Yeah. Thank you, guys.
