Starting point is 00:01:41 First date follow-up. The guy on the phone for a first date follow up today Really into the girl that's not calling him back I bet His email even called her an angel An angel? I met an angel and they're not calling me back What do I do?
Starting point is 00:01:57 I don't know what her name is but he did say That he went out with an angel Like a Angelica or Angelina Oh I didn't think the angel might actually be her name. Maybe I'm reading his email wrong. You were thinking someone who flew down from heaven? I think I had a romantic comedy in my head and the dude was like, I met an angel from the skies above who came down and we went out on a date and now she's not calling me back. Maybe she's back up in the skies watching over me, protecting me. Hey, Troy, was her name Angel
Starting point is 00:02:23 or was she an actual angel uh hey no she her name was angel got it makes a lot more sense i need to work on reading comprehension okay so you went out with a girl named angel but now she's not getting back to you uh yeah it uh it sucks because i i was really into this girl yeah okay how Okay. How did you meet her? Were you just praying? Okay, I got to stop with the answers. Yeah, no, actually, I met her through a friend right before quarantine hit. That was right before everything went crazy. That's cool. We're seeing a lot of that, too.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Yeah. Like, a lot of people that met before quarantine and then the lockdown happened. Right. And then now the person's gone because everybody's like, well, we can't date anymore. Yeah. Is that kind of what happened? I mean, yeah, that's pretty much exactly how it happened. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:03:06 So what did you guys do on your date and how was the vibe going? So she and I, we actually went to a restaurant. We had dinner. And this was before quarantine. So no masks, no social distancing, none of that? No, I actually hugged her the second I met her. Oh. So did you guys have good chemistry?
Starting point is 00:03:25 I mean, it was a really great hug, I'll be honest. But for you or for both? Yeah. I mean, I thought both. I really felt both. I was getting good vibes the whole time. She didn't seem hesitant or anything. She just seemed very welcoming and open. And we even bonded over the fact that people think that
Starting point is 00:03:39 Die Hard is a Christmas movie when it's clearly not. What? It's not a Christmas... You and I could never date. That's ridiculous. It's absolutely a Christmas movie. No, it's not. I've never seen it. Yeah, I just honestly thought the whole thing went great. There was never any awkwardness or anything. It was really
Starting point is 00:03:55 a nice dinner. So, how did the date end? Was there a, you know, a kiss? You know, I was feeling pretty confident. I was honestly feeling very confident after this date. So, I did go and... Yeah, you opened it up with a hug. I would think feeling very confident after this date. So I did go. Yeah, you opened it up with a hug. I would think by the end of that, you're thinking she's probably going to be pregnant. That's what I would be thinking.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Oh, my God. No, but I did land a kiss. And she, again, wasn't hesitant towards that. She didn't run away? No, she didn't. She didn't run away, smack me, leave. No, it was really nice. So you shared a kiss, and did you make plans to go out later? I asked her after the kiss, I just, do you think I can get another date with you? And then she was like, yeah, totally. Okay. So then
Starting point is 00:04:34 after quarantine happened, she just ghosted you and stopped texting you? So yeah, once the quarantine all hit, I had a work trip and I was gone for like a month, but we texted occasionally just, I wasn't able to talk to her really at all. And then when I came back, I gave her a call thinking it's been like a month. I haven't really talked to her that much. Like I doubt she'll pick up, but she did. And she was like, yeah, I'm still down for another date. Oh, cool. Okay. So that's great. So when did her mind change? I don't, I don't know. So like I, we, we, I called her, she said, cool, let's do another date. And I was texting her about planning the date and she, she like, we kind of had a date set in mind
Starting point is 00:05:12 and then nothing. She just completely ghosted. I sent her a text and I got nothing back. Just completely gone. Completely gone. And I have no idea why. Can you think of like any reason, maybe something that happened at the date? Um, I mean, I've just been rethinking it. I can't pinpoint exactly, but I mean, now I'm thinking maybe I was a bit aggressive like with the kiss and maybe I seemed too eager with wanting another date. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Do you think too much tongue? I was wondering. I wasn't going to ask, but I do have a question though. Do girls kiss on the first date a lot? Because I don't know. I don't know. I'm not a girl. Oh yeah, you were a virgin before'm not a girl. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:45 You were a virgin before your girlfriend, so. Oh, wow. And I think, yeah, I think so. Anytime I've gone for it on a first date, they have. Okay. Yeah, yeah. I mean, they usually do, I think. I mean, not my date in that way, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Oh, okay, Troy. Fine. I mean, I never met a woman who didn't want to kiss my lips because my name's Troy. Maybe they feel obligated, you guys. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. But I mean, honestly, she could have, like, I don't know, found another guy. She could be in a relationship with someone. I have no idea. Yeah, that's true. I mean, it could have
Starting point is 00:06:16 happened. She could have had a male roommate and they've been locked down for quarantine and all of a sudden they're like, you know what? We might be. We might never meet another person, so we might as well start dating now. First date follow-up excuse me does anybody know the phone number to heaven because we're about to call what are we about to call troy we're about to call angel we're about to call an angel no no angel angelica if you're just tuning in for the second part of today's First Date Follow-Up.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Troy is on the phone, and he went out with a woman named Angel. They actually met before quarantine through a friend. And on their date, they had dinner. He thought everything went great. Even ended with a kiss and plans to go out later. And then he left to go on a business trip for a while, came back. They texted a little bit more, and she just disappeared. No good reason.
Starting point is 00:07:04 He can't think of anything. I know what would have got him a second date. What? The pickup line if he had said, oh, did you fall? Oh, wait, no. How did it go? You mean, did it hurt? Yeah, that's it.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Sorry. You say, did it hurt? And then they go, what? And then you say... When you fell from heaven. Yes. Right, that's it. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:07:24 You're an angel not very good at the whole dating thing yeah no okay well we're about to call her right now and and hopefully we won't use a line like that on her to get you a second date troy are you ready okay thanks yep there's absolutely nothing you can think of that you did wrong besides breathe no there's nothing i there's nothing i can think of now okay cool i cool. I'm kind of nervous, actually. All right, well, here we go. Hello? Hi, may I speak to Angel, please? This is she.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Angel, how are you? This is Jubal from The Jubal Show. I'm good. I'm good, Jubal. How are you? How are you doing, Alex good how are you oh you know the show yeah i know the show is english heaven there too you know it english heaven in the house all of us it's the entire jubile show okay cool but um like why are you calling me
Starting point is 00:08:21 i'm calling you today because somebody emailed us about you. Oh, shit. Yeah. You went out on a date with somebody recently and aren't calling them. Well, I shouldn't say recently, but you went out on a date with a dude and now you're not calling him back. And he wants to know why. Do you know him? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I might know. I don't know. What's the first name that comes to mind when you think of someone that you went on a date with and then you ghosted them? Uh, David? No, it's not David. It's actually a dude named Troy who you met before lockdown. Oh, that's not a good response. Yeah, no. Troy had nice things to say about you.
Starting point is 00:09:06 He even called you an angel. Well, that is my name. Yeah, yeah. Said he got a kiss. Oh, yeah. It was, yeah. Was it a forced kiss? Oh, don't say that.
Starting point is 00:09:19 No, no, no. It's just what happened after that wiped all that away. Really? So the kiss wasn't bad, and you enjoyed your date with him? Yeah, no. It's just what happened after that wiped all that away. Really? So the kiss wasn't bad, and you enjoyed your date with him? Yeah. Yeah, up until, you know, a couple comments he made. A couple comments? What did he say? Well, we were talking. We were talking about his parents.
Starting point is 00:09:37 And he, first he said his parents were, like, sick, and he wanted to know if he could come and stay with me. Okay, that's weird. What do you mean, like, sick? and he wanted to know if he could come and stay with me. Okay, that's weird. What do you mean, like, sick? Because he lives with his parents? Yeah. I don't know. It was already weird enough for him to say, you know, like, my parents are sick and asked to stay with me. I mean, we just met, pretty much.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Yeah, you went on one date, so it's kind of weird to ask someone if you can move in with them. Seems like intrusion. Yeah. And also, he sounds... Yeah, but it got worse. Oh, worse. Yeah. And also he sounds... Yeah, but it got worse. Oh, worse. Okay. What else?
Starting point is 00:10:07 Yeah. He said that, you know, his parents were kind of already goners. I mean, and that was... What? Yeah, what does that mean? So his text said... Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I saved it, actually. Wait a minute. Oh, you still have his text? I mean, yeah, because it's crazy. Yeah, as women, we don't delete crazy texts. Keep them forever. He uses ammunition.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Wait, I found it. Okay, what does it say? It says, my parents are pretty much goners. LOL. LOL. That is so disturbing. Does that mean like he's going to leave them to die by themselves? Or he's happy about it?
Starting point is 00:10:43 What? Is that something you love? I don't know. It sounds really sick to me. themselves or he's happy about it what is that something you love i don't know it's it sounds really sick to me i mean did he explain it or no i don't want to talk to him anymore you just didn't respond to it so you don't know the context of what that meant the context is that it's not funny that's true if your parents are like really sick, like, I don't know, like why would a normal person like joke about that? And it just rubbed me wrong. And I just felt like sick in my stomach and I just couldn't. I said, no, that's a sign.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Yeah, that is a weird text. So was there anything after that that he texted you or was that the last time that he texted? That was it. He didn't like toss a picture of him out there in the hospital bed, like, being like, check this out. Oh, my gosh. That sounds like something he would do, but he didn't respond after that. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Well, thanks for telling us. I mean, that is kind of weird that he would say that. Yeah. I don't want to have anything to do with something like that. Well, unfortunately, you're going to have to right now because... Oh, my gosh. Wait a minute. He's on the phone, isn't he?
Starting point is 00:11:45 Yes, he is. And do you want to talk to him? Well, you already heard what I had to say. I don't want to add salt to the wound. Hey, Troy, you there or you got a funeral to go to or something? No, I'm here. What's up, Angel?
Starting point is 00:12:03 Hi. Hi. That is a warm greeting. That is a warm greeting. That's a warm greeting, Troy. I can sense the fireworks. So, Troy. Are your parents still doing okay? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Do they recover? Let me explain to everybody, okay? Okay. I made a joke because that's kind of ridiculous. Anyone to ever say like, oh yeah, my parents are goners. Like that was not at all the intention whatsoever. My parents are fine. I was just trying to make a joke, make the whole situation lighthearted.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And I thought that that would be funny. That's weird. So your parents were or were not dying? Daughters. My parents were never even sick. So you just thought it would be funny to make up this joke and get a response from her? It was, look, it was quarantine, and it was just such, like, a weird time, and I just wanted to try to make light of this crazy situation,
Starting point is 00:13:00 and I was like, oh, I'll try to, you know, see if I can go to her place or whatever. I'll make a joke out of it. Oh, this was a way to, like, oh, I'll try to, you know, get like, see if I can go to her place or whatever. I'll make a joke out of it. And I wanted to. Oh, this was a way to like get with her. Oh, so you just made that up about your parents being sick and come over to my house? Yeah, that's what it sounds like, Troy. Look, I just wanted to see her again.
Starting point is 00:13:20 There wasn't any other thing you could say. I mean, what else am I supposed to say? Hey, I really like you. Can I come over? Yeah, that would have been way better than my parents are dying. I think that's a way better way to ask if you can stay at somebody's house or if you can go over and see them is just to be direct and ask. I was just
Starting point is 00:13:39 trying to be funny. That was all I was trying to do. Okay. Women like men with a sense of humor. That's what they always say. A good sense of humor. Okay, I mean, yeah, okay, I see how that can be, yeah, that can be misinterpreted. Or just not fucking misinterpreted.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Well, I don't know if there's any way to misinterpret this, but Angel, would you like to go out with Troy on another date? We will pay for it. Now that you know his parents are alive and kicking. No, thank you. I mean, look, we established that that was a joke. My parents are alive.
Starting point is 00:14:12 They're fine. They're great. And so if you could just let this go and we could try. I mean, I thought it was fun. We can have fun. Troy, you made up that your parents were dying just so you could spend the night at my house. Uh, no.
Starting point is 00:14:27 When you say it like that, it does sound bad. It does. Pretty bad. It was funny. Come on, guys. Yeah, and you know it's funny because he said it's funny. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric.
