Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the homestretch, right in time
for a new season of my podcast, Next Question. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's,
to help me out, like Ezra Klein, Jen Psaki, Astead Herndon. But we're also going to have
some fun, thanks to some of my friends like Samantha Bee and Charlemagne the God. We're
going to take some viewer questions as well.
I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about?
Check out our new season of Next Question with me, Katie Couric,
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Jon Stewart is back in the host chair at The Daily Show,
which means he's also back in our ears on The Daily Show, Ears Edition podcast. Join late night legend Jon Stewart and the best news team for today's
biggest headlines, exclusive extended interviews and more. Now this is a second term we can all
get behind. Listen to The Daily Show, Ears Edition on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever

The forces shaping markets and the economy are often hiding behind a blur of numbers.
So that's why we created The Big Take from Bloomberg Podcasts, to give you the context you need to make sense of it all.
Every day in just 15 minutes, we dive into one global business story that matters.

Madison is on the phone today for our first day follow-up
and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Daniel that she really likes. So in a few minutes,
we'll call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe get her another date. But
first, Madison, how long has it been since you heard from Daniel? It's been a week. A week. Okay.
Yeah. Okay. Have you tried to reach out to him in the week? I have. I texted.
And so we met at the gym.
And I've been hitting the gym same time we always did.
And he's not been there.
And I finally asked one of my girls at the desk.
I was like, hey.
And she's like, yeah, he's been coming in real early lately.
I just don't get it.
Do you think it's to avoid you?
It's got to be right.
Like, and I don't understand why.
Because, like, we met there, obviously.
Right.
And worked out together. Like, I was filming one day and I was like, is that dude watching me?
But he was he was so hot.
I was like, so I did the thing.
I was like, hey, do you know how, like, can you help me with my form?
So he came over, and we started working out together.
And then he finally asked me if I wanted to go out, like, outside the gym.
And I was like, yes.
He went all out.
It was an amazing night.
Took me to this rooftop rooftop place it was beautiful like
oyster champagne the whole night wow yeah like super vibing everything
what it was just unreal i've never never had it like that with a dude before so we moved from the table to the bar and we're throwing back
cocktails and getting handsy and i mean it was it was the night and then we were trying to figure
out like neither one of us wanted to leave and he finally was like hey you want to go back to my
place and i was i was glad he asked because i was about to ask uh
okay but yeah i'm not usually like that but like oh my gosh everything was just perfect this night
we hooked up like okay all over everywhere kitchen counter couch wow and yeah, it was amazing. He's like butterflies, dude. So that's why I'm so I'm like,
what? What happened? I texted him. I had to leave after he fell asleep. And I get to the car and,
you know, I sent him this hot text, included a picture and was like, hey, I can't wait to see you again.
And I haven't heard from him since.
So how was so he was super into it, too.
Did anything weird happen on the date like that would have made it awkward or would have changed anything?
The only thing I can think of is like, you know, I threw my phone on the floor when we got into his bedroom and it was kind of like on the side where he was.
And after midnight, I got this like I got a reminder, like a calendar reminder.
And it said date with Chris.
OK.
And I was like, oh, that's not, you know, he picked it up and I know he saw it.
And I was like, oh, I canceled that, you know.
And then we got right back to things and that's the only thing i can think of like i've been racking my brain
because i'm like it was a perfect night like everything was just perfect so i don't know
how i'm getting ghosted a reminder about another person is kind of awkward. Yeah. So you might be onto something there, but, or did he just like get it?
And then it was like, yeah, I don't know.
Yeah.
It was, I thought it was just like a, you know, like a one and done thing with the phone
and, you know, tossed it back down and then we got back to it.
So I don't, you know, he didn't act weird in the moment.
Okay.
I don't know what I did or said or what.
I just, I really love to see him again.
Like, would I love to see him again?
Okay.
Well, we'll try to figure it out for you.
Then we'll play a song, come back and then call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting you and maybe get you another date.
Okay.
Thank you guys.
Yep.

But we'll do that thanks to some of my friends like Samantha Bee, Roy Wood Jr. and Charlemagne the God.
We're going to take some viewer questions as well.
I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about?

We're the hosts of How to Do Everything from NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me.
Each week, we take your questions and find someone much smarter than us to answer them.
Questions like, how do you survive the Bermuda Triangle?
How do you find a date inside the Bermuda Triangle?
We can't help you, but we will find someone who can.

Right in the middle of today's first day follow-up,
if you're just joining us,
Madison is on the phone,
and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Daniel,
so we're about to call him
and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her
and maybe get her another date.
But before we do that,
Madison, why don't you refresh our memory on your date?
Yeah, Daniel and I met at the gym.
We were getting along super well he planned this
like amazing night for us uh oyster champagne we hooked up multiple times sent him a hot text
after i left and i haven't heard from him since okay you ready for us to call him? I am. All right, here we go.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Daniel, please?
This is him.
Hey, Daniel, how are you? My name is Jubal. I'm calling from a radio show. It's called The Jubal Show.
Hi, Daniel. I'm Nina, also on the show.
Hi, and I'm Victoria.
Cool.
Have you ever listened to The Jubal Show before?
I've heard of you guys, I think a couple times, but yeah, I don't listen to you all the time.
Okay. I'm calling you today because one of our listeners actually emailed us about you.
Okay.
So we do a segment on the show. It's called The First Date Follow-Up.
That's where if you go out on a date with somebody and then you ghost them,
that person can email us to call you and ask why you're ghosting them.
All right.
So we got an email about you from somebody.
That's pretty weird.
Are you ghosting anybody?
I don't know what classifies as ghosting, but is her name Madison by chance?
Yes, it is.
Well, that's hilarious.
She'd be calling you guys.
Okay, why?
She's a cheater, to say the least.
Oh, what?
Yeah, she was over at my house.
Her little phone dinged off, and it said, date with Chris or whatever.
She told me it was some other guy.
She was dating and she was going to cancel it or something like that.
And when she left, I went on her social media accounts and looked up if she was seeing somebody.
Yeah.
She's married to a dude named Chris.
What?
Yeah.
That was with her husband.
She's married.
I'm not really about that kind of thing.
So I don't know why she's calling you back.
That's kind of hilarious okay yeah i mean i guess that would be reason to go somebody if you find out they're married yeah unless she's in an open relationship oh oh well
you would tell me about that right shouldn't i be aware of that so i'm not this side piece
look i've been cheated on before i'm not really about that kind of life i don't like women
who cheat on their men and uh yeah that's kind of where i'm at on the whole situation she should
have told me if i'm some kind of like weird piece in their uh you know triangle relationship i should
have been aware of that okay well thanks for telling us i'll also tell you that madison is
on the phone and wants to talk to you. She's been listening.
Okay.
Why would you go on my social media and dig?
Everything was great. That's a weird question to ask.
You're being pretty sloppy about the whole thing.
You're lucky I didn't just text message Chris and just let him know what the hell is going on
or send him a message on whatever.
I mean, that's pretty sloppy on your part.
You know, you didn't even tell me what was going on.
I should have probably known, right?
Why?
Why are you bringing Chris into this?
He doesn't need to know any of this.
So you are married.
So you are cheating.
I'm not cheating.
I'm enjoying my life.
Like, why? cheating i'm enjoying my life like why do it tell me you didn't have an amazing night
i okay that is completely not the damn point does your husband know you're out here banging other
dudes why does that matter like it's not about him this This is about you and me. Well, when you're seeing somebody, you care about their integrity and their willingness to just turn around and screw on somebody.
That shows who they are on the inside.
You know what I'm saying?
So, yeah, that's why.
That's why it's important.
You're getting so deep.
Like, I'm not trying to, like, have you pay my bills.
I just want to
hook up like that
I thought that's what we were doing
there's another
guy on the end of this and I've been
that other guy before and I don't
want to hurt somebody like that
and if I'm participating in it then
I'm equally a part of it and I'm not
going to do that that's what I'm trying to say
how's he going to hurt if he doesn't know?
Nothing to do with this.
This is an A B situation.
Not like I'll ask the question.
Daniel,
would you like to go out with Madison again on another date?
We'll pay for it. No, I think she's nuts absolutely not we're good we we hung out together one time did a few
squats that's it let's call it we're good we're good i yeah that's it sorry madison you don't
get an another date there i guess at least now I know. Stabbed, stooped your husband, Madison.
But like, can we still like work out together?
No.
