First date follow-up, powered by the advocates injury attorneys, online at advocateslaw.com. John is on the phone today for a first date follow-up, and he's getting ghosted by a woman named Kirsten.
Starting point is 00:02:22 So in a second, we're going to call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him a second date. But first, John, how long has it been since you talked to Kirsten? It's been a couple weeks. Or like one week, I guess. It seems like more than that. But, yeah, it's just one week. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Yeah. Maybe it's too early. I don't think so. Well, I mean, you usually kind of get a feeling. Have you been trying to hit her up and she's just not responding? I've been hitting her up. And, yeah, we had a great date. And then, you know, she replied right away after.
Starting point is 00:02:55 words and then yeah it's been ghosting so i know you guys do this so but get her getting taller and find out what happened okay well tell us about the date sure uh so it matters for mutual friends and i like her immediately like she's focused and she's ambitious like she's like a i don't working girl, a working woman. Maybe rephrase that, John. You look like a working girl. You look like a working girl.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Well, actually, we watched that. I don't know. Anyway, we did end up watching that Working Girl, the Sigourney Reaver movie. Oh, from the 80s? I was like, huh? Yeah, from the 80s, yeah. Oh, fun. We both like old movies.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Anyway, sorry, I'm rambling here. I like her style. She's like, I mean, yeah, she's no, like, oh, yeah, you're right. I hear it now, working girl. Oh, okay, it's a working girl style? I mean, I heard like, I hear myself.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I didn't follow her that, so I don't think it's bad. Okay. Oh, man. So, but instead of going out, we kind of did like a cozy movie night, which for a first date feels very kind of, you know. Intimate? It's not a first date thing. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:04:13 It felt intimate because we both like classic films. Like, you know. Something might be on Turner Classic or like from the 80s. And we did watch Work and Girl. She suggested it actually. Okay. So, uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:04:27 But we did a whole thing of it as if we were already dating, like blankets, you know, lithium lighting and all that stuff. Oh, that's fun. And we shared a giant, yeah, it was fun.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I had a great time. We shared a giant bowl of popcorn. And we were like quoting lines from the movie. Oh. Like I have a mind for body. Or excuse me. I have a mind for business. and a body for sin.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Wow. All right. It felt like it was sweet. It was like intimate. But there was like one maybe awkward thing which I keep replaying in my mind which is the only thing that she hasn't
Starting point is 00:05:05 responded to me. But basically at one point we both reached her the popcorn at the same time and I kind of panic and I held on maybe for like a second too long. I was like are we holding hands? or to pull away. And then I tried to play it off like I was just like checking her pulse or something.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Oh. Yeah, I don't know if I, I don't know if that was her. She laughed though. So I thought it was in the moment I thought it was like charming and not weird. But, but, and this is the big butt for me. I know her phone was buzzing the whole night. She didn't have it on music. She had it on buzz.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Anytime someone texts, the phone goes on and the name shows up and it's Kenneth. Kenneth. Okay. Okay. It's the first date, so I ignored it. But, you know, it did happen the whole night. After the date, she said that she had a great time. You know, I replied back.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Of course, I did too. And then communication slowed so, so much. But I have a theory. And, may I hope you guys can see if this is right. I think she's ghosting me because there's another guy in the picture. his name is Kenneth, and that's who she was texting with the whole night. Okay. So that's what you think?
Starting point is 00:06:21 That's what I think has happened. Yeah. All right. Because she has not responded to me now, except for that one text after the day. Okay. John is on the phone and John is getting ghosted by Kirsten. So in a second, we're going to call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him a second date.
Starting point is 00:06:36 But first, John, why don't you break down your date again for us real quick? Sure. I met Kirsten's your mutual friends. like we hit it off immediately. Our first day was like a cozy movie night in, which was really fun. But the whole night, she's basically texting with a guy named,
Starting point is 00:06:57 or excuse me, a person named Kenneth on the phone. I don't know who that is. And she's basically been in communicato since then. She hasn't responded to me. Okay. Not I do. Is that a good summary?
Starting point is 00:07:09 I think so. It was pretty good, John. She's texting with another dude while you were there. Yeah, that does something. All right. Are you ready for us to call her? Oh, I don't know. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Okay. Here we go. Yeah. We'll see it. Hi, may I speak to Kirsten, please? This is Kirsten. Hey, Kirsten, how are you? This is a radio show.
Starting point is 00:07:39 It's called The Jubal Show. Hi, Kirsten. Hi, I'm Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. And my name's Jubal. What? This is a radio show? Hey, wow.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Yeah. Have you ever heard of the Jubel show before? I have, yes. Sweet. That's so weird. Okay. Well, we're calling you today because we got an email about you. Oh, about me.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Okay. We do a segment on the show that's called the first date follow-up. That's where if you go out on a date with somebody and you end up ghosting them, that person can email us to get you on the phone and ask why are ghosting them. Okay. Okay. Have any idea who would have emailed us? Is it cool?
Starting point is 00:08:27 No. No? No, that's not it. You want to try again? Is it Kevin? No, it's not Kenneth. You want to take a shout at number three? Okay, then it's got to be John.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Yes, it is John. John emailed us. Apparently you're doing quite a bit of ghosting, but John is the one. Where are you meeting that? And emailed us. Would you mind telling us why you're ghosting John? He didn't think I was ghosting John at all. No?
Starting point is 00:09:08 I mean, I texted him after a movie night and I left town for work. And I told him about this. Like, I travel a lot with my job. I had, like, you know, I did with a lot of high pressure investments and super long days. And so I wasn't like ghosting him. I told him, like, I had to leave for work. And so, but honestly, he started to me a lot. Hey.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Hey. Hey, yeah, yeah, I'm here. Hi, Kirsten. Kirsten, that's John. He's actually on the phone and wants to talk to you. Yeah. Oh, shit. Oh, crap.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Okay. Hi. Yeah. Hi. Hi. How are you? John. Hey, I'm doing okay.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Wow. So, so. Yeah. I felt like you did ghost me. I mean, you know, texted you once and then you sort of stopped. I know you said for work, but, you know. No, I did not ghost you. I told you that I was traveling for work.
Starting point is 00:10:19 I texted you right after a date. No, you never texted me. Yes, I did. I texted you that I was going out. I texted you that I was going out of town for work. And I told you that my days were super busy. I can just be texting back and forth. And I was hoping you understood that.
Starting point is 00:10:42 I mean, we just had one date. And then I said, hey, I'm leaving out of town. And then you were, like, texting me, like, three texts a day. I mean, I did not text you three times a day. But also, you did not text me that you were going out of town for work. You didn't tell me that. You have been texting me three times today, and I did text you that I was going out for work. I can't believe you're just lying about this.
Starting point is 00:11:11 This is really strange. I just, no, this doesn't make any sense. I would not text three times today. I text you once. You know, I can send you back your text so you can read them. Do you want to send you those texts? Sure, yeah, because I want to know. I want to know, too.
Starting point is 00:11:27 All right, here we go. Yeah. John, you're sure you haven't been texting her three times a day. Yes, I'm sure. Yeah, sorry. I just send him the screenshots, by the way. Okay. Do you just sent it?
Starting point is 00:11:43 Because I don't have a text right now. I did. I just sent them. Are you sending to the right person? I don't have any of it. It is. Oh, my gosh. I don't have a text room.
Starting point is 00:11:59 You just text up me back. Oh, finally you respond. Hi. What, dude. No, I didn't. Seriously. I don't know who that is. That's not me.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I don't know who that is. That's not me. Who are you texting? Okay. How do you spell John? I mean, how do I spell John? J-O-N. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Okay. I've been texting a different John. What? Oh, no. What? That's the guy that I actually wanted to go. And you just sent him a screenshot. He made his day.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Oh, my God. What? Girl. Oh, my God. How many people are you ghosting? I'm not trying to coast you. I'm not trying to ghost you. I'm not trying to cause the other job.
Starting point is 00:12:52 I'm not trying to ghost you. I just told you I just went out of town. My gosh. That's good news. Oh, my God. I thought I was losing my mom. So I'm the better John. Hey.
Starting point is 00:13:05 That's a good thing. Oh my gosh. I guess yes. All right, sweet. Well, then Kirsten, would you like to go on a second date with the right John? We'll pay for it. Oh, my goodness. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:21 We can go out on a second date. Make sure everybody's labeled in your phone correctly first and then, you know, watch your back, girl. We'd label me better John. Yes. The better John without a good. Okay, thank you. Jubil's first date follow up. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast.
