First date follow-up.
You know what I love about the First Date Follow-Up?
Is that a lot of times people will have a bad date, someone will ghost them,
but it's very hard for people to go, like, maybe I did something wrong,
unless they absolutely know they did something wrong.
Because we got an email in from this dude named Tony,
who wants us to call our girl named Clarissa.
He said he wants to know why she stopped responding to him,
and he thinks there might be something wrong with her.
Of course.
I mean, how could she not want to go out with the Tone Meister?
Look at this hunk.
How could you not want, Tony?
Something's got to be clearly wrong in her dome, but I still want to see if she'll go
out with me again.
Tony, how are you?
Good.
How are you, man?
Good.
Why do you want to go out with this maniac?
She doesn't want to go out with you?
Nah, she should want to go out with me.
I mean, come on.
I'm Tony.
Wouldn't you want to give me a second chance here?
Way to sell yourself right out of the gate, Tony.
Tony the tiger.
Yeah, you do sound like a force to be reckoned with, Tony.
So tell us about Clarissa.
Your email said that you really liked her.
Why do you think she's not calling you back?
Well, no, I mean, I really do like her,
and I thought the date itself, you know, went pretty well, man.
Where did you guys go on the date?
Like, tell us about the date.
Yeah.
Yeah, we went out, you know, had a picnic, you know, and I thought it went pretty well, you know, went pretty well, man. Where did you guys go on the date? Like, tell us about the date. Yeah. Yeah, we went out,
you know, had a picnic, you know, and I thought it went pretty well, you know.
A lot of people right now are having picnic dates.
Picnic at the park. Not much you can do
except go to a park these days.
Sounds like Mary Poppins. Yeah.
So, did you... Yeah, I mean, it's a little more one-on-one
with each other, you know, rather than going to, you know,
trying to go into a restaurant. Yeah, that's a nice date.
It's actually kind of nice, you know. But it used to be like a romantic thing. If you're
in a relationship for a while and you go out to dinner all the time, it's like a romantic
thing to be like, I made us a little picnic basket. But now it's just like, we have no
choice. Now it's going to be romantic when you go out for an actual dinner.
Yeah.
So how do you think the date went?
I thought it was nice. You know, I mean, we just, you know, talked a lot, got to kind a lot, got to know a lot about each other and
stuff, a little one-on-one. I packed a really nice lunch for us, and she seemed to be really
happy with it. I thought it went really nice. I had a little bottle of champagne. Of course,
I didn't drink too much because I didn't want the full Tony to come out yet.
The full Tony? What does that mean?
Kind of a party, kind of wild and crazy guy
and I guess I just didn't want her to see that side of me
yet because she doesn't really know me
too well yet. You know, any party guy
who describes themselves as a party guy
is not a party guy.
Well, I mean, you didn't give her the full
Tony and maybe that's why she's not giving
you a call back. Maybe you didn't show her
all the personality that you have to offer, Tony.
That could have been some of it. Maybe I acted somewhat shy, but you
know, I, I guess it was a chance I kind of took. I wasn't really too open with her yet. Okay. Was
there anything that you thought went wrong or that was awkward during the date? Well, you know,
not really. I mean, I've, I've never really been on a bad date. You know, I, I, you know, never,
you know, not really. I mean, I've always've always seemed to have you know some pretty good dates in the past I've never really had you know any
problems you know for them not responding like she hasn't you feel like
you need to have a seminar for other dudes on how to date called the full
Tony that's pretty good you've never had a bad date so what do you think it is
then why isn't she calling you back if you've never had a bad date you sound
like a nice guy well unfortunately um the drive home, my car broke down,
and we weren't really anywhere close to home, you know,
but those kind of things do happen.
And I felt like I was a gentleman.
I actually got an Uber, and I actually, you know, Ubered back to her home with her
and actually, you know, went back out there later and had my car fixed.
Okay.
You know, I hope that wasn't the reason.
I mean, because those kind of things happen. I mean mean was that an issue for her that your car broke down
well i mean she seemed fine with it i mean those kind of things happen i don't i don't you know i
would hope that wouldn't be the reason why she wouldn't want to go out with me again i thought
the data itself went pretty well you know okay okay when you got back to her house you know like
it's cool that you didn't also go,
hey, my car's broke down, I'm gonna wait here, you can kick rocks if you want.
Yeah.
Like, that's also nice that you did that, but when you got to her house,
did the full Tony come out and you try to, you know, see if you can come in and hang out?
Well, no, I, you know, actually, that's when I, you know, kind of thought something might have been kind of wrong,
because she even told me that she was pretty tired, you know, and I asked her, you know, if I could call her again and, you know, definitely she would, you know, would like to go out again.
And that's what's kind of strange because she just has not, you know, returned my phone call.
Okay. Well, we'll figure it out. So how long has it been since you talked to her?
It's been like a month.
A month. All right.
Yeah, it's been, and then I've, you know, I've tried to respond. I didn't want to overdo it.
You know, I don't want to keep calling. I got you guys in on it because I, you know, I really like this girl and I'd like to go out with her again. And I didn't want to overdo it. I don't want to keep calling. I got you guys in on it because I really like this girl.
I'd like to go out with her again.
I don't want to be like a stalker and keep calling her over and over.
You want to be able to have the opportunity to show her the full Tony, right?
Exactly.
The new hits, 106.1.
First date follow-up.
Felt like it was only appropriate to start the second part of today's first date follow-up
with a little EDM.
Get a little hype because Tony's on the phone.
Yeah, buddy.
The full Tony.
Self-proclaimed party boy.
Who went out on a first date to a picnic.
This is not matching up with the music at all, is it?
To a picnic with a girl named Clarissa.
And he says he thinks one of his downfalls on the date was not giving her the full Tony.
Which is him when he gets a little wild.
And he definitely sounds like a wild man.
Also, his car broke down.
Tony, are you about ready to give her a call?
I am.
Yeah, see?
The voice matches up perfectly.
Can you say, put your hands up, I am?
Put your hands up.
Put your hands up.
Yes.
Put your hands up.
That's the full Tony we were looking for.
That's the full Tony. The full Tony has come out.
Yes, he has.
All right, we're about to call Clarissa right now and see why she's not calling you back.
Tony also mentioned that his car broke down on the date, and he thinks that actually might
be the reason that he's not getting a call back.
Although I don't know why your car breaking down
would be a reason for someone not to call you back,
but who knows.
All right, Tony, are you ready to give her a call?
I am.
Okay, here we go.
Hello?
Hi, is this Clarissa?
This is she.
Hey, Clarissa, how are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
All right.
Why are you calling me?
Well, I'm calling you because we do a segment on our show called The First Date Follow-Up.
What it is is it's where if you go out on a date with someone and then you end up ghosting them,
they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened. And you
recently went out on a date with a dude named Tony. Oh yeah. He wants to know why you're not
calling him back. He said that he thought your date went really well. He liked you a lot and
he has no clue. Do you mind telling us why you don't want to go out with Tony again? Okay. Yeah,
yeah, yeah. I didn't realize that he thought it went well.
Well, did you talk to him by any chance? Yes, we did. And he told us all about your date. Yeah. He told us about the picnic. He told us about the car breaking down. He said he might've felt a
little bit too reserved, but other than that, he didn't really say there was anything that he can
really think of. There was a few things. There was a few things. Okay.
So we go on this picnic, which I thought was very charming to plan a picnic.
And he forgot the main course of the meal, so it just ended up being like cookies and crackers.
Oh.
That kind of sucks if you're hungry.
It just kind of, yeah.
Tony couldn't even give you full Tony or a full meal.
Yeah. No, yeah. Pretty just kind of, yeah. Tony couldn't even give you full Tony or a full meal. Yeah.
No.
Yeah.
Pretty half-assed to me.
But then he brought champagne also, thoughtful.
Couldn't get it open and he spilled it all over he and I.
He spilled it all over you guys?
Oh, no.
This just sounds like a train wreck now.
Yeah.
Well, he kept referring to like partying gays and how he's such a party guy and like, oh, really like him when he cuts loose.
And I don't I don't know.
Then the car thing and the car thing happens.
People's cars break down.
He was nice.
He Ubered me home.
He did mention that he has terrible luck, but I don't know.
I don't I don't know if he's cursed.
So the reason you don't want to go back out with him is because there was just like random issues or you think he's cursed or somehow?
Yeah, I think he is definitely cursed.
You think he's cursed?
He just has bad luck all the time?
I don't understand what you mean by that.
Nothing worked out in his favor. I mean, from the car to the picnic to the champagne, it just overall is a disaster.
And I don't need that in my daily life.
So you feel like dating this dude
will bring you bad
luck. That's what you're saying?
Yeah, it's already 2020.
I don't need extra bad stuff.
He seems like a nice enough guy, but
I don't want to go
on a hike with him and then break
my leg and then have to be carried out by a helicopter.
I don't need any more
bad luck around me in 2020.
And he very much
is bad luck.
Well, thank you for being honest. I appreciate it.
Of course. Speaking of bad luck,
I should let you know that Tony is actually
on the other line listening and wants to talk to you, though.
Wait, what? He's on the phone?
Yes, he is.
You guys didn't tell me that. Oh, my God.
Were you on the phone the whole time?
I've been on the phone.
I am so sorry.
And you're right. I was. I was cursed that day.
I don't know what everything went wrong for me.
I know that night, man, I was really pretty down.
But I don't know.
I thought it seemed like we had a pretty good chemistry there.
I mean, I had a good time, and I was only half Tony.
And I heard you saying that you were sick of hearing that, too.
I know the half Tony, but it's the truth.
I mean, the full Tony, I think if you got to know me as the full me, you would have had a better time.
And I don't really have bad luck.
It was just a bad day, a really bad day.
Right.
It was a bad day?
So all of your days aren't like that?
No, no, no, of course not.
And I'm sorry I forgot the full meal.
I just brought some snacks.
I did have a little more food I was going to bring, and I do feel bad about that.
And I promise there's really no bad juju.
There's just some really good juju with me.
You've got to give me a second chance.
All right, Clarissa, would you go out with Tony again on another date?
We'll pay for it if he brings his good juju with him and maybe tries to go full Tony on you.
Would you do it?
I don't know if I want to date full Tony.
I don't.
I'm sorry.
I'm just not convinced that he's not bad luck.
And I don't want that or need that in my life. I'm so sorry.
OK, well, that sounds like a no.
Thanks for having me on. And best of luck to you, Tony.
I am sure that the next girl that you date is going to love full Tony.
You should always be full Tony.
Yeah.
Just go full Tony.
Go full Tony all the time, Tony.
All right, Clarissa, you know, it's your loss.
Some girl out there is going to meet the real Tony,
and it's your loss.
That's, you know.
All right, well, thank you very much, guys.
Hey, Tony, would you just give us a hype ending to this?
You know, be like, yeah, I'm full Tony,
and that was my first date follow-up.
I'll give you the music.
Take us out.
Yeah, this is Tony, and that was my first date follow-up.
And ladies, Tony is a free man in the house.
Hit me up.
Yeah, all right, Tony.
In the house.
I'm pumped up.
You guys pumped up?
Yeah.
Tony, you pumped up?
I am pumped up.
Yes, you are.
