First day follow-up.
I am so glad that I wore my knee pads and my elbow pads today.
And also underneath these jeans, short spandex shorts.
Wow.
That's right.
Packing some heat.
It's appropriate because on the phone is another fellow rollerblader.
We always have to wear our gear underneath our regular clothes.
Isn't that right, Reed?
Yeah.
You never know when you're going to just get the urge to take off.
That's right, man.
Life is tough being a big rollerblader, isn't it?
It really is.
I don't think people that don't do it, they don't understand.
Yeah.
It's a whole thing.
It's a whole mentality.
Yeah, I've actually never rollerbladed.
I hate it.
I can't do any kind of skating.
I fall down, whatever kind of rollerblading, roller skating, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding,
anything that involves balance in that way, I cannot do it.
So you're a better man than I am, Reed. But it's not about me and my old traumatic memories
right now. It's about you and your current traumatic memories of not getting a call back
from a date that you went on. So you went rollerblading.
Yeah, seriously.
First.
I need some help.
What's the girl's name that you want to call?
Lexi is her name.
Lexi. Okay. And how did you meet her?
We met on Tinder. And so I thought, I don't know,
maybe I have for thinking this, but you know, things seem easier on Tinder sometimes.
What do you mean easy? Pretty easy. You're saying the girls seem easier? Yeah.
It's just, yeah, an easier, you know, you just swipe. That's so easy. That's what I mean.
Okay. So you don't have to go talk to them in person first. So you met her on
Tinder and you guys, your email said that you guys went rollerblading.
Yes, rollerblading is a big part of my life.
I have not had embarrassing moments, at least not in, I don't know, maybe 20 years.
I'm pretty good, if I do say so myself.
So I thought it would be something sweet.
And after talking for about a week,
I got the courage enough to tell her,
hey, did you want to come do this?
I thought maybe I could impress her,
but also be kind of romantic,
like helping her along
because she did have some apprehension.
She was, you know, I'm not the best rollerblader.
It's been a long time since I've done,
you know, since I was a kid.
And I don't know if she had a falling down story,
but I told her, you know, it'd be great.
I'll help you along.
Don't worry.
You know, I figured in my head we'd be holding hands
and just going along.
So you had a big rollerblading movie scene in your head,
like a romantic comedy based around rollerblading in your head
when you asked her out.
Yeah, hopefully with only the cute parts.. Rollerblading off into the sunset. But
sounds like that didn't happen because she's not calling you back now.
The only thing I can think of as to why she's not calling me back is like I own my own pair
of rollerblades. So I had that stuff and I had my compression suit going. And I don't know if
she thought that that was weird or maybe I looked funny.
I really don't know.
But that's the only thing I could think of because she didn't fall or anything else.
Okay.
So, and I didn't, I don't know.
So that's why I need, I need your guys' help to figure this out.
Maybe she just really wasn't impressed by your compression shorts, if you know what I mean.
No, it was a warm day.
It was good.
Oh.
Okay.
All right.
So it wasn't that she looked at that and was like, oh boy, I can see everything and I'm not impressed.
You don't think it was that?
I mean, would you wear a compression bodysuit if you were not looking good in it?
I would never wear it in the first place.
At all. But you did. And that's the only reason you can think of why she might not be calling you. I really can't think of anything
else. Maybe she thought it was weird. All right. And how did you end things? I gave her a kiss on
the cheek and walked her back to her car. And I thought I would try to reach out in a few days
and set something else up. I didn't want to do anything there in the moment. And yeah, since I've reached out, I haven't heard back. So were you getting the vibe that she liked
you during the date? Like, was she having a good time? Yeah, I think so. I mean, she looked like
she was having fun. She was laughing, had a smile on her face, looked like she was having a good
time. Okay. All right. Okay. Well, we'll see what went wrong. Then we'll play a song, come back,
and then we'll get our rollerblades on and find out why she's not calling you back all right perfect okay we'll do it next the new hits 106.1
first day follow-up i don't know why but right now i just have the urge to wear some tight
neon pink spandex really yeah and get like an old walkman out the kind that takes tapes if you don't
know what tapes are hi you're not in your 40s.
Anyway, I say that because Reed is on the phone
and Reed isn't getting a call back
from a girl he went out with named Lexi.
And they went rollerblading together
and he can't figure out why.
He said they had a great time.
She was laughing a lot.
They bonded.
And at the end of the date,
he even kissed her on the cheek
and they made plans to go out again,
but she stopped responding to him.
And he thinks the only thing that could have gone wrong is the fact that he has all sorts of rollerblading gear.
And he decided to wear his compression clothing.
And he thought maybe that weirded her out because I'm guessing Reed, she wasn't wearing like hardcore rollerblading gear like you were.
No, I don't think she has any of that stuff.
But I just want to let you know, mine's not pink.
It's like a cool blue. All let you know, mine's not pink. No?
It's like a cool blue.
All right.
Well, real men wear pink.
Yeah.
And I'm questioning if you're a real true rollerblader or not, because I feel, I thought,
in my mind, rollerbladers only wear pink and like purple sometimes.
No, we wear all colors.
Yeah.
Right.
Okay.
Maybe that's why she's not calling you back.
You were faking being a hardcore rollerblader.
We're on to you.
But that's the only thing that you can think of, huh? The clothing.
Yeah, because like I said before, she looked like she was having a good time.
You can't think of anything else?
Like what about the end of the date?
You said you gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Like, I mean, it's COVID right now.
I didn't feel her like pull away.
Did you go for the lips and then she offered the cheek?
Yeah.
No, no, no.
I went straight for the cheek and she gave me a hug when we first showed up.
All right, cool.
Yeah, she was willing to meet up with a dude who's into rollerblading, which means she
must have liked something about you.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, I'm going to dial her phone number right now and see if we can figure out why she's
not getting back to you, okay?
Yep.
All right.
Here we go.
Hello? Hi, may I speak Here we go. Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Lexi, please?
Yeah, this is Lexi.
Lexi, how are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
Wait, the radio guy?
Yes.
The same.
That is the only thing I have ever done in my life that I would like to be known for
is the radio guy.
But yes, you got it right.
Oh, well, hi.
How's it going?
It's going well.
How's it going?
Better now, I guess.
Have you listened to the show?
Do you know the show or you just heard the name before?
No, I mean, I've listened a little bit less than normal because I don't like drive to work as much.
But yeah, I listen.
Okay.
Well, everybody's here.
Me, Hannah's wife, Alex Freyash.
Good morning.
And English Evan.
Hello.
And do you have any idea why we might be calling you?
Not really.
Would you like us to give you an idea of why we might be calling you?
Yeah, that would be nice.
Okay.
Well, you know, we do a segment on the show
where if you go out on a date with someone
and don't call them back,
they can email us to get you on the phone
and find out what happened.
You know that?
I do know that.
Okay.
People that, yeah.
So we got an email about you
from a guy named Reed.
Yeah, I remember Reed.
Okay.
That was an interesting date. Okay. Can you tell us
why it was an interesting date? Um, I don't know if you've talked to him yet, but it was just like
super intense for a date. What do you mean by that? We went rollerblading and I don't think
I've gone rollerblading since I was like nine or ten like I would never get it
even when I was a kid but it's still like a fun like date idea you know right now like during
the times you can't really do a ton of stuff so it's just kind of like a different idea and if
he likes it it's nice to be outside and everything I mean I I do do outdoor activities and stuff but
I had told him like leading up to it that I wasn't really good.
I wasn't really sure.
Like I didn't own blades, stuff like that to try to kind of leave the hit without trying
to be a birdie pooper or a blade pooper.
So you didn't want to go rollerblading, but you still did it?
Yeah.
I thought maybe it's not as bad.
I didn't remember it so much.
And I thought it was like, you know, maybe it's just like riding a bike. You kind of don't forget how to do it. So we went, but it was just super intense. He was like all in his compression, everything told us a little bit about your date, and he said that he thinks the reason you're not calling him back
has to do with his outfit.
You know, he said that he's big into rollerblading,
which I don't know a lot of people that are big into rollerblading anymore,
but, hey, do you.
And he also has the clothes that go along with it,
so he thought maybe his compression gear and his spandex.
And I didn't know he had lightning on his rollerblades,
but it sounds appropriate.
Just step.
Yeah.
He said that he thought the clothes might've turned you off and that's why
you're not calling him back.
Well,
I mean,
that's the least of it.
That's just the cherry on top.
But like,
it's the whole,
I didn't know it was like this rollerblading culture kind of a thing.
And he,
you would think you're going on a date a first date with somebody and
so you kind of want to be with them and help them and stuff like that but he was like hardcore like
at it rollerblading it was a full workout and i could barely even saw him he was like
blading up a storm like wow ahead of me while I was still trying to like balance.
Oh my God. So he didn't help you at all? Like learn how to rollerblade?
No, like before I could even lace up, which I didn't even know how to do that. He was like out there doing spins and just gone. Doing spins? You can spin?
Yeah, there's a lot of tricks that you can do on rollerblading. And he was like all about that.
He was just trying to show off maybe or impress me, but it was too much.
Yeah, sounds it.
It was like going out with an eight-year-old.
It was like, look what I can do.
Look what I can do.
And it's like so much energy for me.
Really?
So someone that can really work the blades doesn't get you going, huh?
Turns out it does not.
At least you gave it a chance.
It is confirmed.
Yeah.
At least you gave it a shot though.
And also I should let you know one thing.
Reed is actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
I forgot you guys have them on the other line.
I got so into it.
Yep.
Hi Lexi.
Hi Reed.
Sorry. Like I really had no idea that it was that bad. Yeah. Well,
the next time you want to go on another date with somebody and you want to take them rollerblading,
like maybe try not to show off so much. It's just not hot. It says a lot more about your personality when you're all about you.
You know what, Lexi?
I've taken a lot of girls out rollerblading,
and they've all been impressed with my moves.
All of them, huh?
Well, you're still single, so.
More impressed than her, apparently.
Yeah.
I think I might know the answer, but Lexi,
would you like to go out with Reed again on another date?
We'll pay for it.
No, I'm good. Thanks. You know what, Lexi? would you like to go out with Reed again on another date? We'll pay for it. No, I'm good.
Thanks.
You know what, Lexi?
That's fine.
I'll find another girl that can appreciate these blade skills.
Oh, wow.
Blade skills.
I didn't expect this to get so heavy.
What are blade skills?
You probably should find someone who appreciates your skill of ruler blading.
Yeah, I will.
Okay, you do that then.
