Starting point is 00:02:05 Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Jubal Show on demand. First date follow up. Laura is on the phone for a first date follow up today. She apparently went out with a guy named Danny and now she's not getting a call back
Starting point is 00:02:21 and doesn't know why. And she said she injured her knee or something on her date that in a second but first Laura thank you for your email how long has it been since you saw Danny it's been about two weeks about two weeks all right and how many times have you tried to reach out to him in that two weeks well I texted him afterwards like the day after the date and he didn't respond. Yeah, it's been a while now. All right.
Starting point is 00:02:47 And that was it? That was it. Okay. And I'm so confused because I feel like the date went so good. Okay. Well, tell us a little bit about it. You said that you hurt your knee. Did you knee your date?
Starting point is 00:02:58 That would be a bad thing to do. Oh, were you doing something naughty? Was it one or two? No. I didn't knee him. I fell, go go up some stairs and I scraped my knee like I don't worry I didn't I didn't physically uh attack him or anything okay but you were okay like did you have to get a band-aid and stuff for it well yeah here's what happened like so we met on tinder or whatever you know how like how everybody meets. And then we go on this date. And the day of the date, we have to go up these huge stairs. And I just tripped. I don't know what happened, but
Starting point is 00:03:31 I ripped my pants. I totally scraped my knee and it started to bleed. And he actually had us turn around and go to a drugstore across the street to clean it. Well, that's nice. Yeah. That's very thoughtful. Yeah. That's nice of him. He nerfed me back to health. It was really sweet. That's charming. Did he trip you on purpose, you think, so that he could do that?
Starting point is 00:03:53 So he could be like, I'll take care of you. I mean, it sounds like he liked you if he wanted to go through all that effort to make sure your knee was taken care of. I mean, how bad was it bleeding? It was pretty bad. I mean, it was maybe only like an inch, like the cut, but it was kind of gross. What?
Starting point is 00:04:12 Just the whole experience. It was so tender and cute, and it kind of made him seem really special to me. Yeah, he's like a knight in shining armor for you. Yeah. So after we patched up my leg, then we went for dinner. We did like dinner and a movie and dinner was super fun. The conversation flowed really nicely. You know, we had a lot of laughs and we went to the movies and we got like a little snuggly in the movie theater. That's nice. But was
Starting point is 00:04:44 it one of those nice movie theaters with couches and stuff? It definitely had the, like the reclining seats where you could like, you could recline. But we each kind of had our own seat. So we kind of had to like reach over to kind of hold hands or like rub legs and stuff. That was nice. That was perfect too because you could rest your knee on the recliner. I mean, it was really great. I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:05:06 I don't know why this guy hasn't called back. I'm very confused. So why do you think he's not getting back to you? Well, I don't know. Obviously, since I fell on the date, he knows I'm very clumsy. And maybe that's, like, not attractive. Also, because of the rip in my pants and him, you know, bandaging up my knee, he totally saw how hairy my legs are. You don't shave?
Starting point is 00:05:29 I mean, not really. Like, maybe like once a week. Okay, that's not actually too terrible. We're talking like Georgia the Jungle, though. Like, how hairy are they? I mean, they're definitely at the prickle stage. My leg hair grows so fast. Yeah, Alex is the only woman I've ever met Who shaves her legs
Starting point is 00:05:45 Literally every day I have to I just don't like it Like the prickly Like it feels weird I don't like it And I've seen Alex Tell other women
Starting point is 00:05:51 That they're like Yeah right you're lying No she actually does Legit every single day Shaves her legs That's good genetics honestly Because I guess If you didn't within a week
Starting point is 00:05:57 You would have a head of hair On your legs So your legs were pretty hairy And you think maybe That turned them off Or something I mean maybe Even when I do shave my legs I'm pretty sure my razors are so old in my shower, I don't even know if they work.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Girl, does Amazon prime some? Yeah. Yeah. The Venus one's really good. Oh, those are dope. The five blade. Dude, and guys out there, you can also use the Venus ones. Women's razors for body shaving are the best.
Starting point is 00:06:23 They make some men's products and they're terrible. Men's facial shavers, the ones, nice ones, are really good for shaving for women. Because they have like five blades.
Starting point is 00:06:31 They're just like super sharp. Did you guys, did you get a kiss or anything at the end of the date? How did it end? I totally got a kiss. Oh. You're just joining us
Starting point is 00:06:40 for today's first day follow-up. Laura is on the phone and she wants to call a guy named Danny. Because Danny's not getting back to her after their date. They met on Tinder. They went to dinner and a movie.
Starting point is 00:06:49 She said it was fantastic. There was a moment, though, where she fell up the stairs, skinned her knee up, and Danny, like the gentleman that he is, took her to the drugstore, bought a Band-Aid. Did he put any antiseptic on it? Yes. Did he blow on iteptic on it? Yes. Did he blow on it? You know what? He actually did. Sounds like you guys really connected.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Yeah, so he patched her knee up. They ended up having a good time at the movie and dinner. They even kissed a little bit after and now he's not getting back to her. It's been two weeks and she reached out to him right after the date and nothing. So we're about to call him and see if we can figure it out and figure out why he's not calling her back. The only reason that Laura can think is that her legs were pretty hairy and he saw her legs because, you know, again, he had to nurse her back to health after she skinned her knees.
Starting point is 00:07:38 So, all right, Laura, I'm going to dial this one right now. OK. OK. All right. Here we go. Who's this? Danny. Whoa. You sound stressed out. This is the Jubal Show. My name's Jubal. Who is this? Danny. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:08:06 You sound stressed out. This is the Jubal Show. My name's Jubal. Who is this? And mine's Alex. Are you okay? Do you need some help? And mine's Evan.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Good. Are you okay? Is this Danny? Yeah. Are you okay? What are you doing? Yeah. I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Who is this? Are you crying? You don't sound fine. This is the Jubal Show. It's a radio show. We're trying to get a hold of you, Danny. And the way you answered the phone sounds like you might be in distress or something. I'm fine. You're literally heavy breathing and you don't sound fine.
Starting point is 00:08:37 You're either really bad or really good. I'm sorry. What is happening? What is this about? I'll just get to the point then, because I don't know what's going on, but this is about a woman named Laura that you went on a date with.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Do you remember that? Laura! Yes. No, okay. Listen, no, this is real. I was about to text her because I'm leaving a police station right now because after our date I was kidnapped.
Starting point is 00:09:04 What? And I just escaped and finished talking to the police about it. Sorry. What do you mean you got kidnapped? Yeah, I mean it was it was really scary and really the only thing that got
Starting point is 00:09:17 me through the two weeks was the thought of kind of being reunited with Laura. I really think she might be the one. Are you for real? What? I'm for real, guys. I was kidnapped. I mean, I have some info about some, like, high-profile people.
Starting point is 00:09:34 By who? And, like, how did you get kidnapped and where? I don't think it's smart to say because they could still be watching me right now. Okay, but, like, where did you, like, what are you talking about? Where did you get kidnapped? And were you thrown in a trunk? They took
Starting point is 00:09:50 me from my house, man. Were they trying to rob your house? Um, I don't know what they wanted from me. I mean, my stuff isn't even nice, so I don't know why they want me, really. I mean, I know the info, but...
Starting point is 00:10:06 You're... This is not for real. Okay. You cannot be... So, like, I just don't understand why someone would kidnap you and how... Do you have enemies? Because I have the keys, man, to the universe, and I know stuff that I'm not supposed to know, man, but they know that I know, and that's why they...
Starting point is 00:10:24 This has happened before. That's a big trick. You guys are not freaking being for real with us right now. You're messing with us. This has happened before. This is not real. This has happened before. Laura?
Starting point is 00:10:37 I was chained to a radiator, man. Oh, were you? Did you see that in a movie? Was Liam Neeson there? Wait, if he's not... I have to chew off my foot. I have one foot now because I chewed it off. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Yeah, you did. Laura. Danny, you are the worst actor ever. Oh, my God. I knew it. I freaking knew it. I knew it. Deal.
Starting point is 00:10:59 This has happened before. Sometimes people try to get over on us to get on the show. Is that what's going on? I thought so from the beginning. I always freaking know. I should just always trust my intuition. People try and do this all the time, you guys. I actually believed it. I was in for a second,
Starting point is 00:11:14 Danny, and then... Is that what's going on, though, for real? Look, we love you guys. We've been dating for five years. What? Are you serious? You're in a happy relationship? That's even worse. It's true.
Starting point is 00:11:29 You guys set this whole thing up. Yeah, we love your show, you guys. We just really wanted to be a part of it. We would have included you a different way. You didn't have to prank us. There's plenty of ways. You could call it Friday Feels. I mean, I did enjoy Danny's acting job, though.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Oh, thank you. I thought it was pretty fun, too. Way to go, Danny. Anything but War of the Roses. I mean, Danny, I think we could have gotten away with it if you had been a little bit of a better actor. Like, less dramatic a little bit. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:01 You've chewed your foot off. I've never been kidnapped before. I'm sorry. At first, I thought you were, like, literally, like, doing the dirty, honestly. I don't know. You've chewed your foot off. I've never been kidnapped before. I'm sorry. At first, I thought you were like literally like doing the dirty, honestly. Yeah, that's what you should have gone with. What is this guy doing? Instead of getting kidnapped, just leaving the police station when we call, being chained to a radiator and the chewing the foot off thing.
Starting point is 00:12:18 At that point, you had to have known that we already figured it out, right? I was just kind of talking there it just didn't sound normal like when you answered the phone you were like hello like and you just like it just wasn't normal like uh how it normally is i'm like what is going on yeah i don't know i was nervous i suck i'm sorry that's all right and no dude it was it was very entertaining yeah i enjoyed it yeah and um so you guys are actually together then already. Oh, yeah. No, we've been together for five years.
Starting point is 00:12:49 All right. Was anything about that true? You guys are so crazy. The hairy leg part definitely was. Well, at least it all wasn't a lie. Thanks for listening, you guys. And thanks for, I guess, a fun time setting us up. It's nice to meet you all. Good job.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Yeah. The Jubal Show on demand. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the homestretch right in time for a new season of my podcast, Next Question. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's to help me out, like Ezra
