Starting point is 00:02:05 Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First date follow-up. Powered by the Advocates Injury Attorneys. Online at advocateslaw.com. Gabe is on the phone today for a first date follow-up and he's getting ghosted by a girl named Nikki. So in a few minutes, we'll call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him another date. But first, Gabe, how long has it been since you heard from Nikki?
Starting point is 00:02:30 Oh, it's been like two weeks. And have you tried to reach out to her? Yeah, I've tried. I don't know why she won't reach out to me. What was your last interaction with her like? Why don't you just tell us about the date and then we'll get to that part. I thought the date went really well.
Starting point is 00:02:42 She might've been a little intimidated by my wealth. I did wear my Gucci suit. Oh, okay. Right out the gate. But it didn't have like a logo on it. You know, she would have, she would have had to have known that there was no logo, but I also drive a black T wagon and she did see that. You don't really hear of that being a turnoff too often. No. Yeah. Usually that's a turnoff. Yeah. Yeah usually that's a turn off yeah yeah i guess so but i don't know maybe it maybe i was too much well what parts of the date did you like like what about her is making you want to see her again i mean i mean she was beautiful we had a lot in common it was a fun date wasn't cheap either i took her out to a nice place you know and had
Starting point is 00:03:21 good water views incredible food okay definitely wasn't cheap um you know it's been a while since i've actually been interested in pursuing someone you know but we laughed a lot she seemed to have this like nervous energy that i found kind of endearing and attractive like nervous to be on a date you think i mean it is a kind of nerve-wracking honestly though like nervous to be on a date with me you know I mean, it is kind of nerve-wracking, honestly, though. Like, nervous to be on a date with me. You know what I mean? So it was more you, not just the fact that she was on a date for the first time with a new person. Yeah, you know, I mean, I guess I'm a little confident, you know?
Starting point is 00:03:55 Yeah. I have a lot of money, so, yeah. Well, if you make, yeah, maybe. I mean, maybe if you make that much money, maybe she was nervous. And that's why you think she's ghosting you? Maybe, right? Were you flaunting it, Gabe? Maybe she was nervous. And that's why you think she's ghosting you? Maybe, right? Were you flaunting it, Gabe? No, definitely not.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I mean, I was wearing the Gucci suit and I had the black G-Wagon, but no. But you weren't just like dropping thousands of dollars on the floor being like, oops, sorry. Drop some change. I mean, you know, when you have money, right? Doesn't matter to me. Did y'all end the night with a kiss, a hug, a handshake? I mean, yeah, there was a little
Starting point is 00:04:34 action. What are we talking action-wise? You don't have to go into great detail, but is it just a kiss or did you go back to your place? She definitely installed the backseat of my G-Wagon. Oh! okay. Well, I'm glad she was able to experience the G-Wagon. Did she feel like she wanted to see you and your G-Wagon again?
Starting point is 00:04:57 Yeah, she did want to see me again. It would have been great. She gave me a kiss and she was like, I can't wait to do it again. Okay. And so that's why I thought she was going to call me back, right? Yeah, that would give you that idea for sure. But you haven't heard anything from her since?
Starting point is 00:05:12 No. Okay. I think I'm getting ghosted. All right. Sounds like it. We'll try to figure it out for you, okay? We'll play a song, come back and then call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting you, okay? All right. Thanks, guys. All right. We'll play a song, come back, and get your first day follow-up next. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Well, the election is in the homestretch, and I'm exhausted. But turns out the end is near, right in time for a new season of my podcast, Next Question. This podcast is for people like me who need a little perspective and insight. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's, to help me out, like Ezra Klein, Van Jones, Jen Psaki, Astead Herndon. But we're also going to have some fun, even though these days fun and politics seems like an oxymoron. But we'll do that thanks to some of my friends like Samantha Bee, Roy Wood Jr., and Charlemagne the God. We're going to take some viewer questions as well. I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about? Power to the podcast for the people. So whether you're

Don't go shopping to Target with khaki pants and a red shirt on. Don't go shopping to Target with khaki pants and a red polo shirt on. That's what you have.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Song right out of the book. An old lady came up to me. She said, how much for this cream of wheat? We're in the middle of the first eight. Follow up If you're just joining us, Gabe is on the phone and he's getting ghosted by Nikki. So we're about to call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him another date. But before we do that, why don't you give everybody another recap of your date, Gabe? Yeah, well, you know, I thought it
Starting point is 00:08:39 went really good. I took her to a nice restaurant. I was looking good. She was looking good. And, um, I just haven't heard back from her. So I think she's ghosting me. The only thing I can think is maybe she was intimidated by my wealth or how attractive I am. All right, well, let's see if we can figure it out for you. Here we go. hello hi may i speak to nikki please um who's calling hi nikki my name is jubel i host a radio show it's called the jubel show hi nikki i'm nina hi and i'm vict. Hello. Hi. Have you ever listened to the Jubal show before? I've heard you guys before. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Well, have you ever heard a first date follow up? No, but I can only imagine. Well, you don't even have to imagine because it's becoming a reality for you, Nikki. Surprise. So that's where if you go out on a date with someone and then you ghost them, they can email us to get you on the phone and ask why you're ghosting them. So we got an email about you from somebody. I'm kind of flattered.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Do you know who it is? That's my way to look at it. I like that. I mean, I have an idea, but I've been on a few dates. Okay. So take a guess and I'll tell you if you're right. Well, it was either Gabe or John. Are you ghosting two people?
Starting point is 00:10:17 I mean, they were just two dates that I went on fairly recently that I haven't spoken to. If you had to choose Gabe or John, which one do you think would email us? I'd probably rock with Gabe. Yeah? Well, guess what, Nikki? You're absolutely right. Gabe emailed us about you. He told us about your date and he wants to know why you're ghosting him. Really?
Starting point is 00:10:40 Gabe. Yes. Can you tell us why you're ghosting him? Well, I did have a good time with him. He seemed to be like really put together and, you know, successful. And, you know, most girls I'd say are looking for. But he really reminded me of this teacher I had in high school, Mr. Jeffries. Mr. Jeffries is a geometry teacher and used to have all these like cheesy jokes and he would tell us the jokes
Starting point is 00:11:11 to try to get us to remember what we were learning. Okay. And I really liked him as a teacher. Like Mr. Jeffries was great, but I wouldn't date Mr. Jeffries. So he reminds you of your high school teacher, Mr. Jeffries. Yeah. Did you make out of your high school teacher, Mr. Jeffries. Yeah. Did you make out with your high school teacher?
Starting point is 00:11:30 No. I did you know, like that respectful polite kiss on each cheek kind of thing before we left. Oh, that's it? Yeah, I told you. It's like Mr. Jeffries. He looks
Starting point is 00:11:44 just like Mr.ffries it's like we were in person i could show you pictures and you'd be like oh wow he said you quote unquote tell the back of his g-wagon my head kind of went somewhere different but uh what the back of his what yeah what did he say he made it sound like you guys did a little more than like have a kiss goodbye in his car. Yeah. Um, no. Maybe, you know, this is something that he
Starting point is 00:12:13 envisioned. I don't know. At any point were you in the back of his car? I mean, I got into his car to see his car. He was proud of his car. Come look at it. Take a look. Okay. Sure.
Starting point is 00:12:27 No problem. Okay. Well, thank you for telling us why you're ghosting him. I appreciate that. Thanks. Yep. And also, Nikki, Gabe is actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you. Wait, he's really on the phone with us?
Starting point is 00:12:41 Yes. Yep, I'm really on the phone. Oh. Well, hello. Hey. Hi. Kind of wondering why you didn't call me back, you know? Isn't this a little awkward?
Starting point is 00:13:01 It's a little, maybe on the childish side. But yeah, definitely awkward. I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have ghosted you, but it's just a lot for me. I had a good time with you. I also had a good time learning geometry in high school from Mr. Jeffries. But it was just too similar for me. We could be friends and hang out with you, but I couldn't date you. And by the way, why would you go off the impression that anything
Starting point is 00:13:28 physical happened in your car? It's alright. We'll just call that a fun mistake. No one has to know. What? You just let the whole city know. Oh. Well, I guess. See you later, Nikki?
Starting point is 00:13:49 No. No, no, no, no no no what what's she mean later what could be the idea that i i like was attracted to you no i don't know sorry just everything um it's okay no one has to know no one has to know. No one has to know what? No one's got it. How about the back of the G-Wagon? No, sweetheart. Nothing happened in the back of your G-Wagon other than you wanting to show me your G-Wagon. My lips didn't touch him. You know that side cheek to cheek? Yeah, there was a left and a right to that. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:14:22 You know, Dave, like I'm not trying to be disrespectful at all, but like you're giving off this illusion that something happened in your G-Wagon, nothing happened. And I don't want to be rude. You're a nice person. We had fun, but I'm not attracted to you to date you. I think what you're doing is kind of rude. Yeah, I guess. I guess so.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Man, Mr. Jeffries must have been a hot guy, huh? He actually was an attractive person, but again, my high school teacher. All right, well, I guess we'll never see each other again. That's fine with me. Peace. Well, he hung up, Nikki. I was going to ask if you wanted another date with him. I mean, like, another date?
Starting point is 00:15:03 You guys saw how awkward and weird he was. Like, what? He's got a ton of money, though, so if you need any of that, just ask him about it. Like, he'll tell you all about his money. Jubal's first date follow-up. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric.
