Riley is on the phone today for our first date follow up and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Dominic. So in a few minutes, we're going to call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe get her another date if she still wants one. But first, Riley, how long has it been since you heard from Dominic? It's been about two weeks. OK, let's go backwards. Let's talk about how you guys met. Tell us about the date.
Starting point is 00:03:27 So we met on Hinge and I liked him immediately because he was engaging. He asked questions. He saw like one of my pictures had a big record collection in the background and so he was asking about that. Okay. It's actually my dad's collection
Starting point is 00:03:43 and it's like all the greats. So it's such a fun thing to talk about and okay it was it's actually my dad's collection and it's like all the greats so it's such a fun thing to talk about and he really was interested in the records too i think so it started off like that we ended up meeting for coffee like a day coffee and then we decided to drive to a spot that has like a really amazing view that I didn't even know about this spot that he knew of. So we go there, we sit for hours, we're just like chatting about everything. You know, one of those dates where it's like you don't even know how much time passed and you're just talking about everything, your life, you know, your dreams, everything.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And music, of course. Sounds pretty fantastic. Yeah, so we were there for a while, and I mean, I don't really want to kiss and tell, but we did actually kiss up there. I think we were like on the roof of his car. That's cute. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Dang. It's like the movies. Yeah. We were in the car at the view. It was awesome. And so then he took me back to my car. it's like the movies we took a car at the view and asked him and so then he took me back to my car I think we did kiss again and then he said
Starting point is 00:04:53 I'll call you so this guy legit took you to like a make out point and then said I'll call you yeah and you haven't heard anything no I mean I haven't and I didn't want to be that person like being annoying or reaching out when they said they'll call so i've just been hanging back but
Starting point is 00:05:10 i really did have a good time so i just i'm really stuck with me i've been wondering what happened is there anything awkward that happened or anything you can think of that would make him ghost you? The only thing could be, I do think that like when I was getting out of his car, I had my keys in my back pocket and I think I might have like scratched his car. Oh. And I probably should have said something at the time, but I was so embarrassed and I just hoped maybe he won't see that and I didn't say anything. But what if he did see it and he's mad at me for that? I don't know. I mean, if we talk again, like,
Starting point is 00:05:53 I would even offer to pay for it if it's really bad. I don't think it was that bad, but I feel bad. So you know for sure you scratched his car? Yeah, I could see something. Okay. Okay, but in your Yeah, I could see something. Okay. But in your defense, he could have parked somewhere and somebody else could have keyed his car and then maybe that's not
Starting point is 00:06:11 why. Yeah, I mean, I have beans on my car but I don't know where they came from. Okay. Well, we'll see if that is the reason. We'll play a song and come back, call him, and see if it tells why he's ghosting you and maybe get you another date okay okay awesome and if he turns you down for another date probably don't worry too much about that king's car
Starting point is 00:06:31 all right play a song come back get your first date follow up next we're so done with new year new you this. This year, it's more you on Bumble. More of you shamelessly sending playlists, especially that one filled with show tunes. More of you finding Gemini's because you know you always like them. More of you dating with intention because you know what you want.
Starting point is 00:06:58 And you know what? We love that for you. Someone else will too. Be more you this year and find them on Bumble. If you're just joining us for today's first day follow-up, Riley is on the phone. She's getting ghosted by Dominic, so we're about to call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe get her another date. But before we do that, Riley, why don't you catch us up on your situation? So we met on Hinge.
Starting point is 00:07:20 We talked a ton about music and my dad's record collection. We met up for coffee we drove out to a viewpoint after that and just had really nice conversation exchanged a couple of kisses and he said he would call me and it's been like two weeks okay and you think you might have keyed his car well you know you keyed his car. Well, you know you keyed his car. But on accident. I didn't keyed his car. That's excessive. Accidentally scratched. Okay, so you accidentally scratched his car
Starting point is 00:07:51 with your keys and you were hoping that he didn't see that and know it was you and then is mad at you and not calling you because of that. Correct. All right, well, are you ready for us to call him? I'm ready. Okay, here we go. This is Dominic. Hey, Dominic,
Starting point is 00:08:18 how are you? My name is Jubal. I'm calling from the radio show. It's called The Jubal Show. Hi, Dominic. I'm Nina, also on the show. Hi, and I'm Victoria. Hi. Hi. You ever listen to the show? Yeah, yeah. I love the show. Sweet. the show. Hi, and I'm Victoria. Hi. Hi. You ever listen to the show? Yeah, yeah. I love the show. Sweet. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Well, I don't know if you've heard a first date follow-up before, but that's a segment where if you go out on a date with somebody and then you ghost them, we call you to ask why you're ghosting somebody. I've heard that, yeah. You sound like a smart guy, Dominic, so I'm guessing you know why I'm saying that. I do.
Starting point is 00:08:48 I do, yes. I can guess. Do you know who you're ghosting? Yes. So he's a super smart guy? Yeah. Yeah, well, it's not something I do, like, every day or very frequently. So, yeah, I'm guessing Riley is how this is about.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Yes. Riley emailed us, said it's been two weeks since your date and she hasn't heard from you and she thought you guys had a great time. So she wanted us to ask you if you'd tell us why you're ghosting her. I don't know how to start. She, she seemed great.
Starting point is 00:09:22 She seemed a little, a little maybe sheltered. I don't think she's dated. She seemed great. She seemed a little maybe sheltered. I don't think she's dated much, but getting together was nice. We had a good conversation. She had a really cool record collection in her photos, which I thought was cool. Music is my passion. And we went out for coffee, which was great. And then we took her to a spot that's really cool for a really cool view of the city and um we climbed up on the roof and we're just talking and it was it was
Starting point is 00:09:49 great um and then really nice but i asked her what music she likes and and she said she liked nirvana which is great uh sabrina carpenter so really classic and then little drake i i she was talking about she said little drake and okay and she was serious about it and i i'm like Lil Drake. Lil Drake? She said Lil Drake. And she was serious about it. And I'm like, how out of touch are you that you don't know the name of one of the biggest artists of all time?
Starting point is 00:10:15 Do you think she meant Drake? She meant Drake, I assume. Yes, she meant Drake. And she just kept calling him Lil Drake and she wanted to go see him in concert and she was so excited about met Drake and she just kept calling him Lil Drake. And she wanted to go see him in concert. And she was so excited about Lil Drake and the new track that came out and everything. And maybe it sounds silly to you, but to me, if you don't even know the name of a music artist like that,
Starting point is 00:10:39 and it's a level of just, I don't know, maybe ignorance or something that I can't, I can't, I can't. So it was just bugging you that she kept saying Lil Drake when she meant Drake. Well, yeah, it's just Drake. Like, it's just Drake. Who says Lil Drake? I've never heard of that before. It's just Drake. Well, what if she was like trying to minimize him by being like, I'm a fan of Kendrick Lamar, so that's like
Starting point is 00:11:06 Lil Drake. I don't know, dude. That was a stretch on my part. It was just a thought. It was a big stretch. It was a thought. I don't think so. She just kept going on and on about Lil Drake. I'm not the type who likes to stop someone
Starting point is 00:11:21 when they're talking about something and be like in man's plane and correct her. I'm actually. It's just not me um and i just decided maybe she's just not the person for me i want someone who's passionate about music and she obviously isn't if she's calling him little dregs dominic thank you for being honest because riley is actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you you know i i should have known that because obviously i'm listening to the show hey dominic hi riley um i'm sorry um and i'm sorry but yeah i mean i mean what i said but um you know maybe uh listen listen to music for a while and then we can always touch face later yeah Yeah. Yeah, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Why are you being so harsh about this? I mean, it seems like a little much, especially because I really did think we were having a great time. It was good, but this is important to me. Knowing the names of artists that you like, music is so important to me. And being, you know, I don't know. I think maybe I thought you were more passionate about music. I still don't understand what the problem is i mean he does go by little drake he does not go by a little drink he never got my little drink even when he
Starting point is 00:12:35 was young nobody called him little drake he's always just been drake and i yeah see that's why this could never no no i i don't know who you're thinking of, but it's not Drake. Are you sure? I mean, I love listening to music. And like you said, I like all the different types. We go from Nirvana to Sabrina Carpenter. Like, I was just listening to Lil Drake this morning. It does sound weird.
Starting point is 00:12:58 I don't really know what you're talking about. I think it sounds cute. It does. Yeah, I mean, that's a good name. I don't know what you're trashing her for. That could be your rap name, then, but I cannot do this. No, absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Absolutely, this would just drive me crazy. I'm sorry. I just... That level of ignorance is not for me. Maybe it's just her nickname for him, you know? That's just how she identifies him. Like, some people are like, hey, Queen B, Tay-Tay.
Starting point is 00:13:26 You know what I'm saying? So Lil Drake. I don't want to date anybody that's going to give nicknames, little anything to anyone, to be honest. We're going to talk about that. I appreciate you guys trying to come to my defense, but it's not even a nickname. Like that is his name. It's Lil Drake. You guys are wrong.
Starting point is 00:13:44 I don't think it is riley thank you would you want to date her i don't i just don't understand how like no i mean i i can't i'm not i'm not it's not my job to educate you on this level of ignorance i can't take this this is so but i don't appreciate you calling me like ignorant or shelter whatever like i'm just saying a fact here. This is the very definition of the word ignorant. I think it's just weird, Dominic, that you're ghosting somebody over just not liking the same artist they like. Like, Lil Drake is great, and I don't know why you're doing that.
Starting point is 00:14:15 It's pretty rude. Thank you. Finally, somebody understands and knows what they're talking about. I got you, Riley. Dominic, would you like to go out with Riley again? We'll pay for it. No, I don't want to see her ever again. That does feel really harsh, though.
Starting point is 00:14:34 You guys made things worse, I want to say, in this case. Okay. I don't feel like you're the president of Drake's fan club, but that's fine. Yeah, after this conversation with her, no. I'm sorry, Riley. Good luck with the world. Go listen to a little Kurt Cobain and a little Sabrina Carpenter and a little Drake. Live in your own world and leave me alone.
