First date follow up. Oliver is on the phone today for a first date
follow-up he's getting ghosted by katie bummer oliver how you doing man i'm doing okay i guess
all right katie isn't calling you back well i mean yeah i mean i thought i went on a great date
i thought i thought it was anyways.
And, you know, I've never really been, I guess, ghosted before until now.
And it just sucks.
Well, how long has it been since you heard from Katie?
A couple of days at least.
Okay.
Yeah.
So I don't know if she's really ghosting me or if she's just been busy or if it's something else. Maybe she has another boyfriend.
I don't know.
Wow, okay.
Well, tell us a little bit about it then.
How was your date with Katie?
Well, I thought it went great.
I mean, basically we met on, you know, dating app like everyone does now.
And you set up the date and everything.
And we went out to dinner.
I mean, I thought we had a good time, you know.
And it seemed like she was, like, you know, vibing me a little bit and everything.
And then so I kind of was like, hey, let's let's keep going with this.
And, you know, maybe we can go back to, you know, my place or your place and hang out more, watch a movie.
And she agreed.
So, right.
That's a good sign.
Yeah.
So we went back, we actually wound up going back to her place and just hanging out on the couch,
kind of watching a movie. And then, um, you know,
I felt like it was going good.
So kind of made a move and we wound up making out.
Okay. That's good. I mean, that usually means someone's into you.
Right. Right. Right. So we, we, we made out and then, then um it was like kind of getting a little late
and stuff so i didn't want to like push things further and then basically she gave me a ride
home what and so what do you think happened why do you think you're getting ghosted
uh i don't know you know it's been a while since i've been dating kind of like i'm reading
signals wrong or um i mean maybe i don't think I'm a bad kisser
but like I don't know I can't kiss myself so well maybe it is just something with her then and
nothing to do with you yeah first kiss can kind of be a little awkward I mean I I kind of made a
move in and she didn't really like meet me halfway, but I just kept going forward anyways.
Yeah.
That's awkward.
Was there that weird little,
like you're going in,
she's not moving forward.
And then you stop for a second.
Cause you're like,
wait,
she's not moving forward.
And then you pause and then you kind of like do a little stutter step and
then back in toward it.
And then she finally kind of comes towards you.
Pretty much exactly.
You committed to making a move and then you can't back out,
but like,
she's not,
you know,
but I don't know.
It was,
it was still,
I don't know.
It seemed like she was cool.
Like maybe she was nervous.
I don't know.
Right.
Maybe when she dropped you off did she say anything
did you guys kiss again by the way no actually i didn't even really think about that so now you
have a whole new thing to think about no kiss goodbye did she say anything well i said like
hey that was fun you know we should hang out again sometime and she kind of was fun, you know, we should hang out again sometime, and she kind of was like, yeah, you know.
Well, now that I think about it, I think she did say
we'll see. She said we'll
see? Yeah, she kind of,
she's like, yeah, yeah, we'll see. Alright, well,
something definitely happened then. Yeah, because
anytime someone says we'll see,
that means we're not going to see.
We'll see means we'll not see each other
again, unfortunately. Sure.
Sure. Hey, we'll go, want to go again each other again, unfortunately. Sure. Sure.
Hey, we'll go.
Want to go again?
Sure.
I got hit with a hmm.
Yeah.
All right.
I don't know, man.
I guess I'm optimistic, you know, a hopeless romance.
Dude, don't ever stop having that, all right?
I mean, you'll get burned a lot.
Trust me, I am too.
You'll get burned a lot, but eventually you won't get burned. And hopefully with whatever the reason is you're getting ghosted for, you can get another date, okay?
Oh, yeah, thanks.
All right, we'll play a song, come back, and get your first date follow-up next.
Right in the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Oliver is on the phone.
He's getting ghosted by Katie.
Katie wants another date, so we're about to call her in a minute, see if we can find out why she's ghosting him,
and see if we can get Oliver another date if he still wants one after he hears why. Oliver, before we call her, give a real quick recap of your date with Katie.
Yeah. So met on a dating app, went out to dinner, had a good time or so I thought,
went back to her place, watched a movie, had a little makeout session, and then she dropped me off at home. You forgetting one important part, Oliver?
Well, the make-out was maybe a tiny bit awkward, but it was, you know.
Two important parts.
It was the first one.
It was the first kiss.
What do you want?
Well, what did she say when she got out of the car, though?
That is like the biggest sign to me that something happened.
Well, yeah. So I had a good time, so I said, we should do this again sometime. That is like the biggest sign to me that she was, that something happened. Well, yeah.
So I had a good time.
So I said,
we should do this again sometime.
Like that was fun.
And she was like,
yeah, you know,
I think so.
We'll see.
We'll see.
Yeah, that's what.
That's the thing right there.
That would have hurt.
Okay.
We're going to call her
and see if we can figure it out.
You ready, man?
Yeah.
Okay, here we go hello hi may i speak to katie please this is she who it says hi katie
this is jubal i host a radio show called the jubal, and I have four other people here with me. Hello. What's up?
Okay, why are you all calling me?
Well, we do a segment on our show,
and it's called First Date Follow-Up.
What that is is if somebody goes out on a date
and they get ghosted,
they can email us to get that person,
the person they went out with on the phone,
to ask them why they got ghosted.
It's sort of an educational thing
for people to learn about themselves in the dating world.
Oh my gosh, this is so awkward.
So we got an email about you from Oliver.
Oh, okay.
Oliver told us about your date.
He said he really liked you and he thought you guys were going to go out again, but you
haven't been talking to him and he wants to know why you're ghosting him.
Do you mind telling us?
Oh, I mean, okay, I guess.
I mean, if he asks, I'll get him one to know.
So, I mean, like, I guess the date itself was okay at best.
Okay at best?
Yeah, it wasn't great.
Like, it wasn't sparked or exciting.
Like, he wasn't like, I don't sparked or exciting like he wasn't like i don't know it
was okay it was mediocre and so then he's like well let's go do a movie night at one of our
places and i kind of got excited you thought the day was mediocre but when he said let's do a movie
night at you know one of your houses or whatever you actually liked that yeah like i thought it'd
be fun and maybe like you know sometimes dates are just awkward because like, you know, first date can be uncomfortable.
So maybe like being back, sitting on the couch, watching a movie, chilling.
Like I just figured, you know, it might be like fun.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah.
Maybe you could take it from mediocre to pretty okay.
Yeah, exactly.
But then he like, you know, he goes to make out with me, if you can even call it that.
And it was horrible.
Oh, no.
So, Katie, he did tell us about your date and he did say that the kiss was kind of awkward, the first kiss.
It was terrible.
Like, I do not ever want to kiss this guy again.
Whoa.
And I like had to stop it.
I just put a stop to it.
It was that bad?
Yeah.
Why?
And then on top of that, like, he's a bad kisser.
It was, like, too much tongue, and it was really wet, and it was just, like, it was not.
I don't want to kiss a dog.
Like, I want to kiss a man.
It was not good.
That's rough.
I just felt like I was kissing a frog like he was trying to catch flies in my mouth or something we've all heard that story about kissing the frog that turns
into a friend I'm just saying so we so he's like a like a hard tongue kisser it was like no okay
that was weird too because I know what you're talking about.
I'm not that.
But like it wasn't.
It was like soft but like flicking.
Like I'm telling you.
It was like that was it.
He was trying to catch a fly.
Like in and out thing.
Like it was bad.
I don't want to be in that.
Wait, wait, wait.
Wait a second.
Hold on.
Can I say something please here?
Oh my God.
Yes, you can.
Hey, Katie, Oliver's on the phone and has been listening this whole time.
Sorry I didn't tell you that.
I don't know about that. I don't know you're listening.
Wait. Oh, now you're – okay.
First of all, all right, how do you know what a frog kiss is like?
I mean, what are you doing on your spare time here, okay?
I mean, you're comparing me to frogs.
What's up
with that where are you getting this information from it felt like you were trying to catch
something in my mouth with whatever you were doing with your tongue i'm sorry but you just
need to work on that before you try to take somebody else on a date yeah okay all right
look i don't know what the deal with your history is, but I'm a good kisser.
I mean, I've never heard no girl has ever said anything to me about the way I kiss.
I've never had a complaint, not once.
What does that say?
Have you ever kissed those girls again?
Of course.
Okay, look, I hear what you're saying, but I wasn't going to tell you.
I wasn't going to call you up and tell you how bad of a kiss you were,
but you put me on a radio show, and so you had to listen to me say it.
Like, these girls aren't going to call you back and tell you how bad of a kisser you are.
Hold on a second.
I've been kissing girls since the third grade, okay?
There's been plenty of kisses.
I mean, maybe, well mean like seventh grade ish
i guess whatever so what you're saying is you got experience absolutely yeah i don't think your
seventh grade girlfriend probably like knew what good kissing was so you know like i'm sorry it's
not a contest or anything like but you're not a good kisser. Like, facts.
Okay, fine.
If you think I'm a bad kisser, then I guess I'm a bad kisser.
But you know what?
I'm open to learning some new tips and tricks, so maybe you could teach me a little bit.
Oh, you know what?
Touche.
Turn that around.
That's some game right there.
Katie, would you like to go on another date with Oliver?
We'll pay for it.
I mean, it's your chance to teach someone to kiss your way the katie way no no no no no no
not no not gonna happen sorry bud no oh come on look i want to learn the katie technique
how about that come on just just why not they'll pay for it. It's not the Katie technique.
It's normal kissing.
Just like maybe try not kissing somebody like a frog.
You'll be a little closer.
Oh, my God.
Okay, fine.
I really did like you.
And I guess if you ever want to teach me a little something, just let me know.
I'll be here.
You know what?
I appreciate his commitment to giving another chance.
