You know, the standards are pretty low when it comes to dating. We get a lot of emails in from
people who aren't getting a call back from someone they went out with for the first date follow-ups
and they usually, you know, sometimes they rave about the date, but most of the time it's comments
like this. We got a email in from a dude named Craig and his email says, I thought the date was great. There was no awkward silences or
anything. Wow. Setting the bar high. Craig, it sounds like you had an amazing date. I don't
know why you're not getting a call back. Yeah, I don't know either. That's pretty much all your
email said about your date.
But before we get into it, what's the girl whose name you want to call today?
Olivia is her name.
Olivia.
All right.
That's the number one girl name with you right now.
Did you know that?
Is it?
It is.
I just heard that this morning.
Where did you meet Olivia?
So we met on Hinge.
We were going back and forth on the dating app a little bit.
And Oh, hinge is a dating app. No. Yeah. I thought it was like a place to find people
to fix a door for you or something. That's all I'm on right now. Thumbtack and whatever. So,
all right. So you met on hinge and yeah, we messaged back and forth for a few days and then
we set up a date and we went out to get drinks.
And as soon as she walked in the door, I wasn't even sure it was her because she looked better than her pictures, which is unheard of.
Yeah, that's a shocker.
No wonder you want to call her back.
Yeah, I was so excited.
I was like, is that her?
And it was, and she was so down to earth, right off the bat, just
very cool. And we
talked about all kinds of stuff, but
to be honest, I was having trouble paying
attention just because I thought she was so beautiful.
I couldn't believe my
luck. That's really sweet.
So there was like no awkwardness? You don't
remember anything that went wrong?
Well, not that I can...
I don't think anything went wrong.
And we talked about getting together like two nights ago. I was texting her like the next day
and she's never responded. Complete ghosting. Okay. So how long has it been since the date?
A week. Okay. A week. And you can't think of anything that went wrong during the date,
something that you might have done that put her off?
There is one thing.
I mean, I've racked my brain about this because I haven't heard from her.
And like I said, I was having trouble listening because she was so beautiful.
And maybe she noticed.
Maybe there was a couple exchanges where I didn't respond with something that made sense.
Like she just finished talking and you're just and you're like, you're pretty.
That's how it felt.
I hope it wasn't that bad.
I'm assuming this is the most beautiful
girl you've ever been out on a date with.
Yeah, I'd say so.
Because you're in awe right now.
Yeah, I mean
I've never called in a radio station
to help me out. Yeah. How did the
date end? Did you say that you would call her or text her? Cause you mentioned that you said you,
you were talking about another date that you guys were going to go on. Yeah, no, I said,
I'll call you. And I texted her the next day and then I never heard back. And then I did call her
and I left a message and I've sent a few more texts since then
see if she was okay but I've never gotten one response and any uh kiss or anything at the end
of the date no I wish we just gave each other a hug okay and other than just thinking that she
was beautiful and drooling all over yourself during the date there's nothing else you can
think of that went wrong.
I mean, I thought about this.
I don't think it was much of a thing,
but I mean, I'm not the best drinker, like a masculine.
I mean, I ordered white wine.
Oh.
All right.
Do we even need to call her? We already know what it is.
Game over.
I mean, really?
No.
I'm not really a drinker.
It's easy to drink.
I would find that hard to believe that it was the white wine, but who knows?
You never know.
I mean, people have all sorts of deal breakers.
All right, well, I'm going to play a song, come back, and then we'll call in and get
your first date follow-up, all right?
All right, drink a white wine spritzer and hang on a second.
We'll do it when we get back, all right?
Picks up.
Okay.
The new hits, 106..1 first date follow-up in the middle of a first date
follow-up and if you missed the first part craig is on the phone and he thinks that his date was
so pretty that it ruined things for him isn't that right craig yeah i think that might have
been the case uh he went out with a girl named Olivia.
They met online and went out for drinks.
He said the conversation was amazing.
She actually showed up looking better than she did online.
And the only thing he can think of that's causing her not to call him back is the fact
that he thought she was so beautiful.
At times he couldn't pay attention to what she was saying.
And it might have looked like he wasn't listening to her.
He also did order a white wine. That's true too.
He said he ordered white wine and that's
probably what, that's what we're going with. That's what did him in.
Alright, well we're about to give her a call
and see if we can figure it out. There's nothing you're
leaving out of the story.
Nah. I mean
I was going to leave the white wine out of the story.
You should have.
I can't think of anything else.
I've been thinking about it all week.
Okay.
If there is something else, we're about to find it.
Yeah, exactly.
All right.
I'm going to dial her phone number right now.
And here we go.
Okay?
Okay.
Okay.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Olivia?
This is Olivia. Who's this?
Olivia, how are you? This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
Uh, I'm... what?
It's a radio show.
Uh, okay.
Yeah, what's up? Well, I'll tell you in just just a second but first i want to introduce you to everybody my name is jubal like i said and then my hot ass wife alex fresh that's me and
english evan hello those are the three people on the phone with you right now oh hi we do a segment
on our show where if you go out on a date with someone and then don't call them back after they
can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened.
So we got an email about you from a dude that you went on a date with.
His name is Craig.
Oh, okay. Yeah.
You remember Craig?
Hey, Craig. Yes.
So how was the date that you guys went on?
Well, to be honest,
we had a really, we had a good time,
but there were definitely times
that he was like zoning out.
That was the first thing.
Like, I felt like he was staring through me.
I would be, he would like ask me a question,
I would answer him, and he just wouldn't answer.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, he wouldn't, he just, I don't know.
I don't know where his head was. He looked like he in space so we uh we talked to him about your date and he
admitted that he knew he was doing that you want to know why he was doing that uh i mean because
he's weird i don't know why he might he might be weird i don't know him that well but he said the
reason that he may have looked like he wasn't paying attention was because he thought you were so beautiful that it was hard to pay
attention sometimes to what you were saying.
Yeah.
Still rude.
Still rude.
Nice compliment, though.
I mean, I'll take it.
It doesn't change how I feel about him.
So basically, I, of course, I'm super close with my sister.
So, of course, I called her the next day and I was like, you know, this date with Craig
and, you know, I was thinking about maybe going out with him again and she's like I want to see a
picture of this guy what does he look like right and so dish girl send a pic yeah she was like
it's hot I was like you know he's cute you know I sent her over a picture and she she called me
and she's like you'll never believe who this is and I was like who and she's
like it's Laura's teacher and I'm like so Laura's my niece okay okay I was about
to ask who Laura is. Laura is your niece and this dude is her teacher? He is a horror show.
What do you mean a horror show? He's just a jerk. Like he has sent my niece home crying. He gives the kids a ton of work. He's just a really bad teacher.
Wow.
Oh, okay. Well, that's not what I thought I'd hear.
Yeah.
And to make matters worse, he didn't even tell me he was a teacher. He actually told me he was in marketing.
Oh, so he lied about his job, and apparently he's a terrible, I'm assuming elementary school? Yeah. So, you know, needless to say,
he seems like a liar. He's a liar.
He's a jerk. I definitely don't want to call him back.
Okay. That's a good reason
if you think someone's a liar and a jerk.
You know what? I feel like
a liar and a jerk now because
he's actually on the other line listening and wants to
talk to you.
Okay. He's on
the phone? Yeah. unless he hung up.
Hey, Olivia.
I'm here.
My God.
Hi.
A liar and a jerk, huh?
Well, now that we're being open and honest, yeah.
You totally lied to me blatantly about your job,
and from the way I hear you treat my niece,
yeah, you're a jerk.
Craig, why did you lie? And why are you a jerk? Yeah, I didn't lie. But you told me you work in
marketing and you're a teacher. So how did you not lie? You're a marketing teacher? Because,
no, I left my job in teaching. I wasn't a very good teacher.
A lot of parents were complaining and it was kind of embarrassing, so I quit.
Wow.
Well, that's good because, I mean, I've had some bad teachers and my kids have had some bad teachers.
I'm like, why are you working with kids?
Yeah.
So at least you recognize that and left.
Yeah, no, it was really frustrating.
I realized that I wasn't good at it.
I shouldn't have been teaching such young kids and none of the patience for it.
So I quit.
But I didn't lie to you, Olivia.
Okay.
So that's the truth at least, right?
Yeah.
But to be honest with you, you can't even be nice to a seven-year-old.
How do you think that I'm going to date you?
I just don't want to be part of that.
It wasn't about being nice to them. I was trying to teach them.
Look, you're a decent guy, but I just can't date someone who makes seven-year-olds cry about
how their handwriting is on homework. It's just...
Come on. I mean, I had the maturity to realize that I wasn't good at a job and I moved on from
it. That shows self-awareness. Did they tell you what i said about the beautiful thing and i was
zoning out well clutching at struals yeah yeah they told me why you were really awkward um and
i appreciate the compliment but that's i'm sorry it doesn't like when you brownie points or anything
are you sure?
Let me ask officially then.
Olivia, would you like to go on a second date with Craig?
We'll pay for it.
No.
Do you want to think about that a little longer at all?
No, I guess not.
All right.
Well, thanks for telling us at least why you weren't calling him back.
I mean, I guess I'm glad I could help with some clarity on the situation.
But I'm sorry to hurt your feelings, Craig.
But good luck and be careful not to make people cry.
Yeah.
And for yourself, maybe work on not being so judgy in the future or like respond to a text.
Wow.
Guys, can you hook me up with someone else?
Sure. I know some great elementary school teachers with a bit of a temper that we can probably find for you.
