The new hits 106.1 first day follow up.
I really hope that the guy on the phone for first date follow-up today gets a second date.
Because his name is Ken, and the girl that he emailed us about, her name is Lynn.
Ken and Lynn.
Ken and Lynn. It rhymes.
So I think that the universe wants you to be with Lynn. Ken?
Yeah, I hope she wants to be with me, but I don't know. It doesn't seem like it.
Yeah, your email said, before we get into how you met her and everything else, your email said that she totally changed
on you. Yeah. It was like night and day from texting to then meeting up. It was, it was really
weird. What do you like? What, what was different about it? The, the tone or was it, you know,
she didn't seem interested anymore. No. So, okay. So here's the deal. We met on the dating app and, you know, we really kind of hit it off immediately.
We agreed to meet up for coffee like 10 minutes after we matched.
It was kind of crazy.
She's like really mean.
She's mean?
Yeah, but in a good way.
Okay.
Like making fun of other people
Like that's kind of what I think is fun and funny
So she's mean and judgmental
I like that about people too
Love that, love that
That's great, that's a good quality
We need more of those type of people in the world
Yeah, yeah
But then, you know, once we met up
You know, I arrived first
She came in second
And it was just weird Right right off the bat. It was
like I was talking to a completely different person from who I was texting with. It was just,
you know, it was just odd. So give us an example. Like, what do you mean by that?
So when we were texting, she had already said that she was telling her friends about me and,
you know, was really excited. and then once we got to the
coffee place and she sat down it was just complete coldness like there was just not really weird it
wasn't the same it was just it was just weird and i don't know what happened if it was something
i said i don't know but okay but you're not one of those dudes who's like five eight but then goes i'm five ten no right no i am i'm six foot i said it in the profile i i am she wants to bring a tape measure
out okay you never know though on the date she could have been nervous i mean myself i i get
nervous on that kind of situation so you don't know that's true but then you know i texted her
after the date then i had a great time there she just you know said me too but there was just no
real conversation after that just the conversation completely died so the date wasn't very good then
no the date wasn't good it was like kind of pulling teeth trying to get her to talk
oh maybe i missed okay maybe she was on her period men can't say that alex you can say that i can
yeah we can't say that the struggle's real you guys i yeah no matter how freaking excited we
are for a date she's still gonna be angry exactly and the texting was so good that I kind of just overlooked that first date.
I wanted to have a second date to kind of see if Lynn was who she was on text.
If it was PMS or not.
You think maybe she was just nervous?
No, she could have been, you know, nervous.
She could have not been feeling great.
But I wanted to have that second date to really see, like, is it her personality?
Because some people are just better at text than meeting up.
But it was just weird that it was on a dime like that.
You could always just message back and forth with her and never meet her in person again.
I mean, it sounds like she was fabulous when you guys are texting.
What kind of relationship is that?
Well, personally, I mean, for me,
I'm really introvert and shy and nervous on dates.
And I remember I used to be a way better texter
than in person.
It's like, you know, I would text and it'd be great
and everything.
And then I'd meet up and I was very quiet and reserved
and then literally would leave each other
right after the date
and then I'd just be texting great again.
They probably were so confused, like, what the heck?
Texting too, you have have all the time in the world
to think about what you want to say,
whereas in the moment, it's a little harder.
I'm the same way, too.
Text is fine or other things that I do is fine,
and then when anybody meets me in person,
they're like, wow, that guy's a dud.
So maybe that's what it was.
Out of everybody I've ever matched with on Tinder,
that was the best conversation I've ever had.
Best conversation until you met in person and then worse conversation.
Yeah. I mean, I feel like, I feel like just the date wasn't her.
How did the date end?
Assuming a passionate makeout.
No, I wish, I wish there was, but no, we kind of just went our separate ways. And, um, I, you know,
like I said, I texted her later that day and got like a one-word response.
And then the conversation just kind of ended.
It sounds like there's something else going on than just her being nervous.
It sounds like you may have done something to piss her off.
First date follow-up.
Hey, Ken.
Hey.
Yeah, I don't know what it is about you, but I don't want to talk to you anymore.
Well, you wouldn't be the only one.
If you're just joining us for the first day of follow-up, we're on the phone with Ken,
and he went out with a girl named Lynn.
He said they met on Tinder, and everything was great.
They were texting back and forth.
She was really funny.
She was mean, and he liked that about her.
Which is strange.
Yeah, mean and judgmental.
I think he more just meant playful. But they got got along really well and then when they actually met in person
from the get she just seemed kind of cold barely talked to him on the date and then they went their
separate ways and he hasn't talked to her since but he really wants to see if he can get another
date because he swears that her conversation before they actually met in person was some of
the best conversation that he's ever had and so we're about to call her and see what
happened all right Ken you ready to go any last words before I get her on the
phone no I just all right here we go Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Lynn, please?
This is her.
Hey, Lynn, how are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
The Jubal Show?
Yes.
It's a radio show.
Um, okay.
I'll introduce you to who's on the phone. It me my name is jubile my hot ass wife alex
fresh good morning and english evan hi lynn good morning good morning how are you today
i'm okay what's this in reference to all right it's a good question lynn you don't normally
just receive phone calls from random radio shows? Not usually.
Okay.
I'm calling you because we do a segment on our show called The First Date Follow-Up. It's where if you go out on a date
with someone, right, and then you don't call them back
after, they can email us to get you on the phone
and find out what happened. And you recently
went out with a dude named
Ken.
Ken, yes.
Do you remember going out with Ken?
I do remember going out with Ken.
He beard fished me.
What?
He did what?
I don't know exactly what that means, but from the sounds of things, your date didn't go very well.
But beard fishing sounds like something cool happened.
Listen, it's kind of like catfish, but when we were texting and i saw his picture he had this nice full thick lush
beard i was like wow i was so into that okay so when i walk into the coffee shop i'm looking around
for this big beard and i think i see him but he's all clean shaven
okay he has this baby face.
I mean, it is a deal-breaker for some women.
Some people.
So you are a chick that likes
a big, healthy beard on a guy?
Yeah, total deal-breaker.
So Ken's face was actually
the deal-breaker.
His real face.
Well, I guess you could say that.
Yeah, I guess.
You know, he had this baby face.
It just totally threw me off.
Jubal, do you remember
when you shaved your face at one time
and you walked in and I was like, don't ever do that again?
Yeah, that's true.
It does make a big difference.
It does.
He looked totally different.
Yeah.
Okay, so he beard fished you.
I've never heard the term beard fishing before.
It makes sense.
When a guy wears a hat and he looks bomb wearing a hat
and he takes it off and it's like, oh.
Hat fished.
Wow. Yeah, because they're like either like, you know, it off, and it's like, oh. Hat fished. Wow.
Yeah, because they're either a cul-de-sac balding.
Just who knows what's going on underneath there.
But hat fished is a thing.
It's a huge thing.
I never knew men were so deviant.
I've been hat fished before, too.
We all have.
I've been beard fished.
Yeah, I've been pants fished on dates before.
Just like, you know, they show up and they're wearing pants.
You're just like, what's wrong with you?
Yeah.
In your picture, you had none.
Yeah.
Right?
Come on.
That's got to be really messed up for you guys.
It's really weird.
Okay.
So you were beard fished.
Exactly.
You didn't like his smooth baby face.
No.
You know what?
I really prefer the beard.
Okay.
He also said, though, that you were like really cold to him.
What?
Did it make you that mad that he shaved his beard off before your date?
Well, I don't know if I was mad.
I was just kind of disappointed.
Yeah, you want to go out with a 35-year-old, not a 25-year-old.
Yeah, he had such a baby face.
Oh, okay.
But looking young is usually quite a good thing as well.
His face was okay, but it was way better with a beard.
Okay, so he's got an okay face without the beard.
Well, thanks for being honest with us.
I appreciate that.
Thank you.
Now I just have to be honest with you and tell you that Ken is actually on the other line listening and wants to talk to you.
What?
Yeah, unless he hung up because he's embarrassed about his beard.
Are you still there, Ken?
No, I'm still here.
Yeah, I'm still here.
Really, Lynn? That's the reason that you were...
Actually, that was the reason.
I felt beard fished.
Right.
Well, I like my beard, too.
What if she had really long hair and you like long hair and then she came with a bob?
What's a bob?
A bob is like a really short haircut.
Really short.
Oh.
So what she's saying, yeah.
How would you like that, Ken?
I mean, I would realize that you just cut your hair.
I would still like you.
I liked your personality over tech when all I really knew was.
You wouldn't feel hair fished?
No, because also I would know that it grows back.
That's a good point.
But Ken, I didn't really say I didn't like you.
It just kind of threw me off.
Well, the actions told me that you didn't.
You weren't even talking.
It was like pulling teeth.
Well, I apologize.
But what else was I supposed to do?
You showed up with a clean-shaven face
and I was expecting this big, luscious beard.
That is true.
I mean, you could end up dating someone know, dating someone completely different when you show
up with a no beard.
Yeah.
And I'm aware that I didn't have a beard.
You know, it was an accident.
I nicked myself.
I couldn't show up with half of a beard.
Well, I would have probably preferred half a beard.
You just like facial hair a lot, don't you, Lynn?
I really do like facial hair.
I really do.
I do, too.
That's why I grew it for two years.
I mean, I'm growing it back as we speak.
Well, you know what?
I'm glad you're growing it back.
I think it's really good on you.
All right.
Well, if he grows his beard back, would you be willing to go on another
date with him? We'll pay for it. Yeah, we'll
pay for you guys to go out again.
So, Ken,
are you really going to grow it back?
Yeah. Yes, I have
a five o'clock show. I promise
you I'm growing it back.
If you show me a picture,
I'll think about going out with you again.
Picture proof that he's getting a beard.
Okay.
I will send you a beard pic.
A beard pic.
A beard pic.
That's really funny.
Okay.
So basically that's a yes.
You'll go out with him again.
Yeah.
If he shows me proof.
Okay.
Do you have to wait until the beard's all grown out or will you go out with him anyway,
just knowing that eventually the beard's going to be fully grown back?
No, I'll go out with him again. just knowing that eventually the beard is going to be fully grown back. No, I'll go out with him again.
Well, thank you for understanding.
And I'm super excited to go out with you again.
And, you know, I promise I won't shave for the foreseeable future.
Yeah.
You know what?
I'm super excited about it too, I have to tell you.
Grow that beard out big and beautiful, Ken.
You grow it, Ken.
Yeah.
It will be bushy before you know it, Lynn.
Yeah.
I want to see so much food stuck in that thing and birds to make a nest in it.
You know, like, make that the biggest, nastiest.
No, well, I don't want that.
I like a groomed beard.
There's no pleasing you, Lynn, at all.
I know.
I'm sorry.
Well, congratulations, Ken.
You got Lynn.
Yeah.
Hey, thanks, guys, for your help.
Call that a win.
God, I hate myself.
