Starting point is 00:01:51 who's on the phone for a first date follow-up today, I want to ask Alex a question. Would this be considered a good date to you? The guy picks you up, and then you go sit in an abandoned parking lot for an hour or two, staring at a wall. Okay, that sounds scary.
Starting point is 00:02:10 It sounds scary to me, but the dude on the phone, his name's Ricardo. Ricardo, how are you? Hey, what's going on guys? Ricardo might've actually found a way to make that date enjoyable. Really? Yeah. I actually, I read your email, Ricardo, and you had a very creative first date idea for the girl that you want to call today. And I'm curious, just like you are, why she's not calling you back. First of all, before we get into what you did on your date, what's her name? Alessandra. Alessandra. All right. And how did you meet her? I actually met her on Instagram. Okay. True love story.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Yeah. I mean, that's how Alex and I met on the gram. That's how me and my girlfriend met. That's how everybody meets now. So did you message her first or did she message you first? I messaged her first. Okay. All right. So you messaged her and or did she message you first? I messaged her first. Okay. So you messaged her and you were like, hey, you're hot. Hot.
Starting point is 00:02:52 With seven O's in hot. That's exactly how it went down. I mean, obviously it went down okay because you guys did go out on a date, right? Yeah, it went down pretty smooth, I think. Okay, where did you guys go for your date? So, how Jubal said about the abandoned parking lot, that's
Starting point is 00:03:07 what we did, but it was a way more creative idea. How can you make that creative? So, like, there's not a lot of things open right now. Like, there's only a few restaurants open, but everything has, you know, the social distancing stuff, so movie theaters aren't really open.
Starting point is 00:03:23 So what I did was I created my own little drive-in theater. I brought a projector. Oh, that's sweet. Yeah, a super kit. See, that is the way you can take a woman on a first date to an abandoned parking lot and not have her go, you're trying to kill me, sir. That's a good idea, actually.
Starting point is 00:03:40 You made your own drive-in movie. Yeah, so we watched Netflix and hung out. I brought her some snacks and, you know, kind of made a night of it. So you Netflixed and parking lotted. I guess you would call it. Yeah. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea for a date. I mean, did she seem to like it?
Starting point is 00:03:56 From everything I could tell, she seemed like she was really into it. We both laughed and she liked the snacks that I brought, so I thought it went well. joint of souls, you know, she liked the snacks that I brought. So, yeah, I thought it went well. Well, it's always good if they like the snacks that you brought. Like, if you had a bad choice in snacks, I'd be like, that's definitely the reason she's not calling you back. Yeah, you bring a Kit Kat to my date?
Starting point is 00:04:14 Yeah. It's a no-go. You don't bring real Oreos? Yeah. You don't bring real Oreos? You bring some of those Xerox ones or whatever they're called? You know, the generic one that starts with an X in the store? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Like, that's a deal-breaker for a lot of people. No, no. I definitely brought Top Shelf X in the store. Yeah. I guess a deal breaker for a lot of people. No, no, I definitely bought the top shelf snacks for sure. Okay. So how long has it been since your date? About a week and a half. All right. So it's been about a week and a half.
Starting point is 00:04:32 And how did it end? Was that the whole date? You guys watching TV shows and movies in the parking lot? Sounds really unromantic when I say it that way. Well, yeah. And then she, she kissed me on my cheek at the end.
Starting point is 00:04:43 You know, I thought I went well. And, you know, she, she, I, like I said, she seemed into it. You know, I didn't pick up anything, like, that she would want to go on a second date. Told her, I was like, yo, I'll text you later. And she was like, yeah, definitely.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Should be a text, whatever. Well, in our experience with these first date follow-ups, people often say that and don't mean it. So has she not talked to you at all since your self-made drive-in movie date? No, I haven't heard from her at all. And there's nothing, like, because usually people leave out if they've done something super creepy on the date. There's nothing that you did that was weird, was there? No. No, I mean, the creepiest thing was the parking lot, and I still made that cool.
Starting point is 00:05:21 All right, yeah. You're definitely not creepy if you can make an abandoned parking lot fun. Did you tell her beforehand that you were going to take her to an abandoned parking lot? Or did you just show up there and then she thought she was going to get murdered? No, no, no. I definitely told her beforehand that. But that was the deal that I was going to like. She probably was still scared she was going to be murdered.
Starting point is 00:05:39 I would be. No, no, no. I definitely think she was into it and had a good time. So I really don't know what it is. Okay. Well, we'll play a song. Come back, call her, and see if we can figure it out on your first date follow-up, right? Sounds good.
Starting point is 00:05:53 All right, man. Hang on. First date follow-up. Because of today's first date follow-up, there are going to be a lot of dates in abandoned parking lots, I think. That's weird. I hope not. Because Ricardo's on the phone. And if you missed the first part of the first date follow-up, he told us about a girl that's not calling him back. Her name is Alessandra, but he did have a very creative first date idea.
Starting point is 00:06:14 It sounds creepy because it wasn't an abandoned parking lot, but because of the pandemic, you can't go many places. So he actually took her to an abandoned parking lot with a projector and made his own drive-in movie. I guess they hung out and watched Netflix for a while. According to Ricardo, they had a great time, but now she's not calling him back and he has no idea why. All right. You've had a second to think about it before we call her, Ricardo. You can't think of anything?
Starting point is 00:06:38 No, I can't. You didn't put on like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, did you? No, no, no, I didn't. You didn't say something like, hey, it's fine, I take all my dates to this abandoned parking lot on your way there? No, we didn't watch the creepy movie. I didn't put on cuties or anything like that. Cuties?
Starting point is 00:06:55 That is creepy. Yeah, that would be creepy. If you put on cuties in an abandoned parking lot, no, you should be locked up for that no matter what, even if it's innocent. All right, well, I'm going to dial her phone number right now and see if we can figure out why she's not calling you back, okay? Cool. Alright, here we go.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Hello? Hi, may I speak to Alessandra, please? Um, that's me. Hey, Alessandra, how are you? This is Jubal from The Jubal Show. What's that? It's a radio show. It's called The Jub, Alessandra. How are you? This is Jubal from The Jubal Show. What's that? It's a radio show. It's called The Jubal Show.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Oh. Oh. I'm sorry. I don't know what that is. Why are you calling me? That's a good question. I'm calling you because somebody emailed us about you. And by the way, on the phone right now, it's more than just me.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Mahara's wife, Alex Freyash is here. Hi. Oh, hi. And English Evan is here. Good morning. Okay. Weird. We got an email about you into the show and that's why I'm calling. An email?
Starting point is 00:08:02 Yes. We do a segment on the show. It's called the first date follow-up. So basically, this is what it is. Not even basically. This is just, this is what it is. Not even basically. This is what it is. Not even basically. Sorry, that's bad use of the English language right there. And I apologize for that. I'm a broadcast professional. I should know better. You talk for a living, Google.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Yes, sorry. Now I'm ranting and you're probably like, what the hell is going on? Anyway, if you go out on a date with somebody and then ghost them, they can email us to call you and figure out what happened. So we got an email about you and it said some very nice things and it was from a dude named Ricardo. Oh. Okay. Makes sense
Starting point is 00:08:34 now? Kind of making sense? Yeah. What did he say in the email? Well, he said that you guys met on Instagram. He said that he really liked you and wanted to take you out. He did say that he took you to an abandoned parking lot. At first we were like, that's
Starting point is 00:08:49 creepy, Ricardo. And then he told us what the date was and we actually thought it was kind of cool. He said he planned sort of a self-made drive-in movie experience for you guys. Took snacks, a little projector since there's no movie theaters open and you guys hung out in the car and watched movies and ate snacks. He thought you had a great time,
Starting point is 00:09:06 but apparently you feel the opposite because you haven't responded to any of his phone calls or text messages. So we're calling to find out why. Exactly. Yeah, no, the date was actually really cute and really fun. And, you know, he had me cracking up. We did have a good time, but this is, like, one thing that I couldn't get past.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Okay. Was it the kind of car that he drove? No. Was it the movie selection that he picked? No. It was the snacks. Was it the snacks? No, it wasn't.
Starting point is 00:09:37 All of that was fine. All right. So why aren't you calling him back? Okay. Well, oh, God. I'm going to feel really bad saying this, but you know how life is right now, and when you go somewhere, you have to, like, show up with a mask on.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Well, when he pulled the mask down, I saw what his teeth looked like, and he has, like, really fugly teeth. Oh, No way. Sad. Yeah. His teeth is the reason? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:09 It's like, I can't help it. I find, I know that there's a British guy listening right now, but I feel bad. I'm not attracted to that. He actually has pretty good teeth. He's a dual citizen, so his teeth are fine. Yeah, he probably had braces. I did. My mom's American. She
Starting point is 00:10:25 fools me. I know it sounds shallow, but I don't even know how this got past me. I went back onto Instagram and I looked at his pictures and then I was like, oh my god, he's not showing teeth in any of his photos. That's what people do.
Starting point is 00:10:42 He was a really cool person and I could maybe hang out with him as a friend, but i don't think i could put my lips on his lip oh my gosh was it was it like the order of the teeth or was it the the color were they super yellow it was like the whole package dude it was like they're all going different directions like little jigsaw puzzle pieces that just didn't fit together do you know what i mean they're all like different color and different shapes and all different sizes i speak I talk now? Can I speak? Are you serious? What? Who's that? Oh, yes, you can talk now,
Starting point is 00:11:09 Ricardo. By the way, Alessandro Ricardo is actually on the other line listening and he wanted to talk to you and he just heard what you think of his mouthpiece. Oh my God, I'm so sorry. Yeah, wow. Yeah, he sounded like you're really apologetic the way you were laughing your ass off just now.
Starting point is 00:11:25 I'll crack it by my mouth. I did. I sounded really, really, really sorry about it. Sounds like it. I did not know you were listening. I mean, yeah, she didn't know you were listening. Also, Ricardo, we do tell everybody, you know how it is. We say, hey, if you want to do this, you've got to be prepared to hear something you might not want to hear.
Starting point is 00:11:41 I haven't seen you. Sound like a nice dude. I don't know if your girl's messed up. My teeth were horrible until I had braces for like seven years as a kid. And now he just has a gap. And now I have a huge gap in the middle of my teeth, but I actually
Starting point is 00:11:56 embrace my teeth. They're not the best. Yeah, I mean, I know how my teeth look. I just thought maybe she'd be able to look past that if she actually was into me and liked me. Yeah, there's always Invisalign. You know, women get judged on tons of different things in our appearance. And I can't help it when I'm not attracted to the teeth.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Ricardo, that's not a bad point. Everybody's got something that they could get judged on. You know, I mean, except for me. You know, perfection. You're gorgeous. Yes, thank you very much. I have beautiful pug-like good looks, and I know that. But anybody could get judged on something, and some people have deal breakers.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Especially women have to deal with it all the time. I mean, you know, she's not like she said it to you on the date. She said it to us when she didn't think you were listening. I don't know. I just figured she'd be able to look past it. Ricardo, the pandemic must have been pretty good for you after having to wear a mask around. Yeah, I mean, I know how my teeth look, and I'm actually working on getting them fixed.
Starting point is 00:12:50 But yeah, the pandemic has been all right for me. My face is my worst feature, so it's been great for me. Oh, wow. Okay, well, I'm really sorry, Ricardo. I hope that at least, I don't know, answers your question and gives you closure. And maybe there's other girls out there that it doesn't bother them. You say sorry weird. I was thinking the same thing.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Sounds Canadian. Yeah, are you Canadian or something? Yes, I am. Oh, all right. Yeah, I have messed or something? Yes, I am. Oh, all right. Yeah, I have messed up teeth and you say sorry weird. So I guess I'm good, guys. All right. Well, I still have to ask no matter what, even though I know what the answer is going
Starting point is 00:13:34 to be. Hey, Alessandra, would you like to go out on another date with Ricardo? We will pay for it. Maybe after he gets braces. Okay. Ricardo, I'm assuming you don't want another date with Alessandra? Nah, not until she learns how to say sorry, right?
Starting point is 00:13:48 All right. Well, I feel like this was a very successful first date follow-up. I mean, you know, both you guys found things you don't like about each other. You don't like his teeth
Starting point is 00:13:55 and he doesn't like the way you say sorry. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the homestretch right in time for a new season
