First day follow up.
After one relationship ends,
it takes a while for some people to dive back into that disgusting public pool of dating.
And Mandy, who's on the phone right now, apparently plugged her nose and decided to jump back in to the gross...
The deep end.
The deep end of the dating pool that's full of urine from strangers that she doesn't know.
Yeah.
Mandy is on the phone for a first date follow-up.
She sent us an email that said that she decided to jump back in the dating pool after her divorce was finalized, which is probably
good, Mandy, that you waited until you were divorced to jump back into the dating pool.
Yeah. I figured that was the turning point of the situation.
Yeah. Yeah. Definitely. You want that divorce to be finalized before you start dating again.
Of course.
And was this your first date since you got divorced?
Yes, it was.
And I mean, honestly, I felt like I wasn't really looking yet.
And I wasn't really, you know, I wasn't on the prowl yet.
But this person, you know, struck a little extra interest in me that I thought that I would give it a try.
Was it one of those situations, you know, we've all been in relationships that have ended.
And a lot of times you're like, I'm never dating anybody again, ever.
Like, somebody sees you, you're just like, I'm done with people.
I'm going to be just solo from here on out.
No relationships, no nothing.
Is that what you were like when you went through your divorce?
Yeah, the divorce was not so pleasant, as divorces usually are. So I took some time to myself, and like I said, it was kind of this, you know, just chance,
you know, met through mutual friends. It seemed like he was the, you know, type of person that I
could see myself with. So I took a chance, even though I, you know, I'm kind of hating people
right now. But he seemed different. He seemed different. Who asked who out? We kind of just
met through mutual friends. So they were kind of putting us together.
I gotcha.
So what did you do for the date?
We ended up having like a little lunch date by the lake.
And we sat around and people watched.
Yeah.
And kind of chatted for a while.
People watching is fun.
Especially if you can role play and like have conversations with other people.
Like what do you think they're talking about right now?
And then pretend to be them.
That's always fun to do.
Yeah.
So how did the people watching date go?
It was fun. Like, we were both kind of creative in that way.
Just like you were just saying, you kind of make, like, conversations that those people are having.
We saw a couple arguing, and we were like, oh, I'm pretty sure that he did not take the trash out yesterday.
Funny.
So we had a good time. Like, I thought everything was going well.
Even after I got home that night, later in the day, he was still texting me.
And we were chatting over text that evening.
And then all of a sudden, just nothing.
And I'm not trying to hunt anybody down or anything, but I kind of want to know what happened.
Well, yeah.
I mean, especially since this is the first date you've been on since you've been divorced.
And it sounds like you guys had a really good time.
Yeah, I thought everything had gone well, and then just nothing,
and I'm not sure if something happened or I did something wrong.
Was there anything that you can think of, maybe?
I mean, I can't really think of it.
I've been replaying it in my head, and I just kept thinking it was great this whole time.
Well, I don't want to make you feel worse, but it must suck,
because, like, you opened yourself up for the first time in so long.
And then to not hear back.
I mean,
yeah,
that must be terrible.
Yeah.
I mean,
I kind of took a chance again,
you know,
what I would think was my better judgment of dating already.
What English seven just did there though.
I was like,
I don't want to bring up old ones,
but let me slowly pry this one open for you.
How does that feel?
Yeah. I mean, thanks for that, but I'm over pry this one open for you. How does that feel? Yeah, I mean,
thanks for that, but I'm over my
past relationship, and
you know, I just wanted to see if, like,
I did anything wrong, and
he seemed like a really great guy,
and I would love to go on more dates with him.
Okay, well, we'll play a song, come back,
and then call him and get your first date follow-up, alright?
Okay.
First date follow-up!
I am so bad at my job sometimes. No, you're not. Yeah, right in the middle get your first date follow-up, all right? Okay. First date follow-up. I am so bad at my job sometimes.
No, you're not.
Yeah, right in the middle of a first date follow-up,
and I'll tell you why,
because I always forget to do something.
I've done segments like this for a long time.
I've had a long career in radio.
Are you gloating now?
Yes, I'm bragging.
I'm bragging.
My career has gone nowhere, but radio.
No, but I've been doing this a long time,
and I always forget to ask people what the names of the people they're dating are.
And I realized I didn't do that in the first part.
If you're just joining us for today's First Date Follow-Up, Mandy is on the phone.
Surprise, I even got her name.
She's on the phone, and she went out with a dude named something.
Named? We don't know.
Mandy, what's his name?
JC.
JC.
That would have been a great question to start with.
Yes, it would have.
Yeah. So Mandy said that
she met JC through mutual friends. She went through a divorce recently. It was finally ready
to date again. And her friends are all like, Oh my God, you should totally meet JC. They did. They
just went to a park on a date. Kind of people watched, said she had a really good time and she
thought everything was great. And she can't figure out a reason why he's not calling her back though.
You said that you texted a little bit that night.
Yeah.
So after the date, again, I thought everything was going well because we continued to talk and we were chatting a little bit that night.
And then the next day it was like, MIA.
And I don't know what happened.
Okay, cool.
So I'm going to call him right now and see if we can figure out why he just disappeared.
All right.
Okay, here we go.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to JC, please?
Yep, this is JC.
Hey, what's up, man? How are you? This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
What?
Yeah, this is Jubal from The Jubal Show. Do you know what that is?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I listen to you guys.
Oh, you do?
Yeah.
Oh, well, thank you. So everybody's here. Me, Mahana's wife, Alex Frash.
Hey.
Hey.
English Evan.
Good morning.
What's going on?
How are you?
I'm good. I'm confused.
I bet.
I bet.
Do you have any idea why we're calling?
You guys are doing a prank call on me.
Not quite. He doesn't tell them that it's Juval at the beginning, though.
Usually, prank calls don't start with, like, hey, it's the Juval show.
Oh, yeah, that was stupid.
It's a first date follow-up.
Oh.
So you know what that is, then?
Yeah, yeah, I do.
All right, so you recently went out on a date,
and now you're not calling them back.
Have you been on a bunch of dates,
or do you know who would email us about you?
Yeah, I think I have an idea,
and I know how these work,
so she's on the other line, right?
Ding, ding, ding.
She is.
But I'm not going to let you talk to her just yet.
Okay, so who do you think it is? First of all? Um, is it Mandy? Yeah. Another right answer. Wow.
Ding, ding, ding. Wow, dude. You're killing it. You're knocking it out of the park right now.
Yeah. Yes. It's Mandy. She is on the other line, but I don't want to connect you two yet because
you know how it works. Why don't you want to go on another date with Mandy? Well, the date was great.
I'm sure she, you know, told you how it is.
I've heard these before.
Yes.
She told us all about your date.
She said that you guys went to like a park.
People watched, made fun of people and judged people, which is always fun to do.
Uh-huh.
You know, and she thought that you guys were laughing and having a great time.
We were.
We were.
We were having fun. And then after the date, you know, so you guys were laughing and having a great time we were we were we legit had a like
we were having fun and then after the date you know so i don't you guys know that she just got
divorced yes she mentioned it she did yes and then i found out that i was the first guy after
that all that stuff and you know just i'm looking for something serious and i think
that when you get out of something that is the most serious you know i just don't think you
could be ready to get into something that's real right after that oh okay i guess that's kind of a
good point you know she might not be in the best mental space to date again necessarily or she might be
she might be yeah yeah i mean i just for me it's it feels like i i'm not looking to be a rebound
you know so being a rebound can be fun sometimes though if you're just looking for a little fun
a little i mean i you know honestly i'm i'm not really just looking for fun anymore. I'm getting older.
Fun is great, but I want something that's a little more real.
That's what I'm looking for.
You guys didn't have any conversations about the future?
Not together, but just your goals and what you guys like to do or want to do in life?
No, not really.
I think that it was mostly just kind of like
this feeling out period.
But I also, you know, we were just having fun.
So it kind of felt like maybe that's what she was looking for.
Okay.
So you think she's just looking to get over her past relationship
by getting under you?
Yeah, and maybe not those words.
Well, let's just ask her.
You already know she's on the phone.
Mandy?
Yes?
Say hi to JC.
Hi, JC.
Hey, Mandy.
What's up?
Well, I mean, I guess that's not what I was expecting to hear at all,
and it makes me a little sad, honestly.
I actually think it's kind of like one of the better responses, you know?
Yeah, good point. I mean, how could that
be better? He said he just
doesn't want to go out with me.
Well, it's better because it's not anything wrong with you
specifically. It's just because you just got out of a marriage.
Yeah, and if you think about it,
he's a dude that wants to
have something more than just be a booty call, like most
men, right? Right, JC?
Most of us men don't want to just be a piece of meat.
You know, I just, I want to be here for a long time, not just a good time.
Yeah.
Wow. Okay. I just...
I think what he's saying, Mandy, is JC would like to marry you right now.
If you're ready for that. I mean, I'm not ready to be married again,
but I'm not just looking for a booty call either.
Like, that is not where I was going with that one.
I mean, also, Mandy, JC is saying that you were too fun.
So that's a good thing.
I've never been turned down because I was too fun.
You were a lot of fun.
JC, you're hearing from her that she's not just looking to hook up with you to get over her last relationship. Would you like to go out with Mandy again on
another date? We'll pay for it. No, no. Look, Mandy, you're great, but it's, you know, it's
just not in the cards. Really? Wow. Yeah. I mean, really, I'm honestly not looking for a hookup. I was married
because I like being married. That's like what I would like to have is a partner that's there for
the long haul. So it's just very odd that you don't believe me on that one. I don't know. I
honestly just think that you're trying to hit it and quit it.
I've never heard a man say that.
Neither have I.
Wow, you've never heard a guy say that one either.
A lot of firsts.
Well, Mandy, I hope you're okay. I'm sorry you didn't get another date with JC.
Yeah, don't take it too hard, Mandy. You did nothing wrong.
I mean, at least it clarifies it.
