impressed when people are bold.
Yeah.
You know, and they'll ask somebody for a number in public that they don't know.
Oh, that's crazy.
Yeah, like normally someone smiles at me, whoever it is, and I usually shudder and then run off screaming because people scare me.
Yeah.
But not Grady, who's on the phone right now for a first date follow-up.
Apparently he met a girl with a very bold move.
That's what he said in his email.
Grady, what's up?
How are you? I'm doing all right. How's it how's it going okay yeah you sound like a bold dude right away well actually man yeah bold but i don't sound as timid as you that's true anyway what's the
girl's name that you want to call today um yeah her name is uh kelsey kelsey okay how did you
and kelsey meet um we met at a starbucks and i met her at the counter like working you were Yeah, her name is Kelsey. Kelsey, okay. How did you and Kelsey meet?
We met at a Starbucks, and I met her at the counter.
Like working?
You were working, and you hit on the employee?
Or you hit on the customer?
No, man, I was getting a coffee.
Okay, so you were getting a coffee, and she was the employee.
Maybe I'm trying to figure this out too much.
Was she getting coffee as well?
Yeah, she was getting coffee as well.
Okay.
Okay, so what made you feel so bold to go up to her and, you know, initiate the conversation?
Well, I mean, she was gorge.
I mean, I was looking at her and I was like, wow, that's a fine woman.
All right.
And is that what you told her right away? No, I didn't tell her right away.
I just, well, so you know how they call out your name to come get your order?
Yeah.
So when she came up to the counter, I was like, wow, Kelsey's my grandmother's name.
Was that your, hold on, was that your opening line to this girl?
Yeah, it was.
Okay.
Wow.
Is Kelsey really your grandmother's name?
Because you, how old is your grandmother, 18?
She was like, really?
And I was like, no.
That's funny.
I mean, obviously that went well because you guys ended up going on a date, right?
Well, yeah, it was cool.
I got her number.
Then we talked for a second and then went out to dinner.
Where'd you guys end up going to dinner?
I actually took her to a nice restaurant. You know, it wasn't like top
shelf, but it was, you know, like middle
class. It was nice. Okay. How was your vibe during
the date? Well,
I thought the vibe was great.
We talked, we laughed,
good conversation pretty much from the time
that we sat down.
She seemed to be feeling me until
the waiter basically walked up
and spilled the drink on her.
Oh.
Oh, man, that sucks.
That sucks.
That's not a good first date, getting a drink spilled on you.
At least you didn't spill it on her.
Yeah.
No, I didn't spill it on her, no.
A little bit got on me, but I didn't spill it on her.
Okay, so how did she react after that?
Well, crazy enough, things kind of went downhill after that.
She, attitude kind of changed. She was ready to that. She, uh, attitude kind of changed.
She was ready to go.
She didn't want to be there anymore, which, you know, I understood.
Yeah.
But then at the same time, I was like, wow.
And right after that, she was ready to go.
She said it.
So I was like, okay.
Well, I'm assuming she didn't have the chance to really dry off or carry another set of clothes with her because no one sane does that.
I mean, well, I personally was ready to give her my shirt.
You know, I would have sit there without a shirt on, you know, because I really liked her.
I was like, I can do that.
But, you know, at that point, it seemed like that she was ready to go.
Is that how the date ended?
And did you guys meet there at the restaurant?
Yeah, actually, yeah, we there at the restaurant? Yeah.
Actually, yeah. We met at the restaurant. The date pretty much ended after that. I was
kind of disappointed. So have you talked to her
since? No.
Actually, I haven't. That's why I was calling you guys
because I haven't talked to her. Have you tried?
Yeah. Text,
call, left messages.
And she hasn't responded once?
And she has not responded once.
I mean,
I find it hard to believe that just
getting a drink spilled on you would be
something to not go out with someone again or talk to them
again if you liked them. Yeah, especially seeing as
she didn't get it spilled on by you.
Like if you dumped it on her head, that's
one thing, but the waiter spilled it on her,
not you.
No, I didn't dump it over here, man.
I'm trying to find out what's up.
You know, a lot of the time people don't say everything that went wrong on the date.
So there's nothing else that you can think of as to why she's not calling you back.
No, I really don't.
I thought about it a few times.
I was like, no, it was pretty good.
First date follow-up. Right in the middle of a first date follow-up. And before we get into things, real no, it was pretty good. First date follow-up!
Right in the middle of a first date follow-up, and before we get into things,
real quick, a question for Alex.
Yeah, what's up? The only official
female in the room. Both Evan and I have a lot
of tendencies, but anyway, the only official female
in the room. If the server were to spill a drink
on you while you were out on a date with a dude,
would that ruin the date for you?
No, probably not. Okay.
Well, there you go go bad news for you on
the phone there grady uh if you're just tuning in grady is on the phone and he met a girl named
kelsey they went out to dinner he thought everything was going great until the waiter
accidentally spilled a drink on her and then her whole mood changed and they ended the date for
obvious reasons i mean i would want to end the date too if like my top was wet exactly yeah if
i called up my top that'd be strange but if my shirt was wet i'd probably
want to go home too so they ended the date no kiss nothing and she hasn't talked to him since
and he can't figure out what went wrong all right man you ready to call her and see if we can figure
out why she isn't calling you back yeah man let's get to it. I want to hear this. All right, here we go. I'm going to call her right now.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Kelsey, please?
Yes, this is Kelsey.
Hey, Kelsey, how are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
I'm sorry?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
There's three people on the phone right now.
Me, my name is Jubal, my hot ass wife, Alex Freyash.
Hey.
And English Evan.
Hello.
Hello. I'm sorry, Why are you calling me?
Well, we do a segment on our show called the First Date Follow-Up. That's where if you go out on a date with someone and then end up not calling them back after, they can email us to get you on the phone to try to figure out what happened.
So you went out on a date with a guy named Grady recently.
Yeah.
Can you talk to us for a second? Can you tell us why you don't want to talk to Grady again?
He thought everything was great.
He had nothing but nice things to say.
Even, you have the same name as his grandma, which is also the same name as my grandma, which is strange.
Whoa.
Yeah, crazy.
Oh, he told you about the grandma thing?
Yeah, he told us how he met you at the coffee shop, and they called out your name for your drink,
and he said, that's my grandma's name, just playing, I want to go out on a date with you.
But he did tell us about your date and how you had dinner.
He thought everything was perfect, actually.
Okay.
That sounds like it isn't.
Or wasn't.
No, he's
a really nice guy.
This is a lot that he called you about me.
But he didn't
do anything wrong or anything like that.
Okay.
But if he seems really nice and he's a really nice guy,
usually you would think you might want to go out with that person again.
Uh huh.
Yeah,
no,
I just,
I wasn't really into the date and just because somebody is nice and he doesn't
mean you have like a romantic connection to him.
Okay.
So what,
like you just weren't feeling it?
That's it?
It wasn't anything he did.
I just didn't feel like any romantic connection,
you know?
And I wanted to try,
like I went on the date,
but sometimes you don't feel that.
Right.
And I also like,
it's kind of stupid,
but I didn't really like the way he dressed.
Like it bothered me.
What was he wearing?
Like this old t-shirt. it had a hole in the bottom and it's it's not that i don't mind that but it was a first date
and we went to like a kind of nice restaurant so like try to dress up a little i wore a dress you
know okay so you just weren't feeling him so you just just ignore him? You couldn't tell him? Yeah.
I wanted to talk to him about it, but then I feel bad about what I did.
What do you mean?
What did you do?
What you did?
Like after the date or during the date?
No, it was during the date.
Okay.
He didn't say that you did anything weird. Well, no, he doesn't know.
Okay. What did you do?
Oh, God. I acted like
I had to go to the bathroom at one point and when I got up, I
talked to our waiter and I gave him 20 bucks to spill a
drink on me. Oh, my gosh.
Okay, that's why the drink fell on you.
Wow.
So you could leave the date?
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
That's how cool.
Damn, you really weren't having fun, huh?
No, again, it's not that he ruined it.
I just wanted to get out of there.
I'd had a long day, and I didn't want to be mean and say, oh, I don't like you. And then
just get up and leave. And I, I don't know. So you gave the waiter 20 bucks to spill a drink on you.
Talk to us about the spilled drink. And he actually said that when the drink got spilled on you,
your mood seemed to change, but I guess we know why it wasn't your mood changed. Your plan came
together. Yeah. I mean, it's better than just dipping out. I've done it. Well, I'm glad to hear that because I've been feeling very guilty about it.
There you go.
Creative.
I'll give you that.
Style points for sure.
Why was that the first situation you chose?
You couldn't have thought of anything else to get out of the day?
It's not a bad idea.
You know, it really wasn't a bad idea.
I mean, it worked, so I might use it again in the future.
All right.
Well, thanks for telling us that and being honest.
I appreciate it.
Now I have to be honest with you
and let you know that Grady
is actually on the line listening
and wants to talk to you.
Dude.
What?
Yep.
And hopefully there's no waiter
around to spill a drink on you
so you can talk to him for a second.
Grady, are you there?
Yeah.
That's f***ed up, Kelsey.
A little bit. Sorry a little little bit sorry you know I have to admit I didn't think
I was such a bad date until you had to have someone spill a drink on you to end the date
I mean you could have just said that yeah yeah yeah that's more of a me not liking confrontation
problem than you like being a bad like date or anything.
No, it's OK. It's OK. It's OK. Fine.
You know, I mean, it happened. You know, we can we can I can get past that.
But I have to say, like, I want to do over after hearing that.
Oh, oh, I'm sorry
I don't want to waste your time
And I just really don't think
It's going to work
But thank you
Well hang on, hold on a second
I still have to ask
Kelsey would you like to go out on another date with Grady
We will pay for it
We will pay for the drink that you might spill on yourself
On that date
I mean yeah, this time of day another date with Grady, we will pay for it. We will pay for the drink that you might spill on yourself on that date.
I mean, yeah.
I mean, you know, this time of day and stuff, you know,
I won't have a hole in my shirt or, you know,
laugh absurdly or something like that.
Yeah.
I feel like I just said no. And then I also said no by leaving and not talking to you.
Okay.
Okay.
So check it out.
I'm not taking no for an answer unless you tell me no three times.
No.
All right.
So she said no, I think, twice earlier, and that was the third no.
So now, Grady, are you good?
All right.
Well, okay, Kelsey, maybe four times?
No.
