phone today for a first date follow up, and he's not getting a call back from a woman he went on a date with.
Her name is Jennifer.
And the reason that Mark thinks he's not getting a call back is,
I think actually very understandable, Mark.
If that's the reason you're not getting a call back,
I get why she's not calling you back.
We'll get to that in a second.
But first, Mark, how long has it been since you've heard from Jennifer?
It's been four days since we went on our date.
Okay.
Four days.
And how many times have you reached out to her
in that four days?
Just twice.
Nothing crazy, you know.
I usually come in pretty hot after a date
and communicate way too much right away,
but I feel like I turned over a new leaf for this one
and like played it a little bit cool.
Okay.
Okay, nothing back at all?
Nothing, no.
Okay.
Now, I mean, you could have played it too cool.
Do you get ghosted a lot?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
It's kind of ridiculous.
I was joking.
I didn't know that.
That just made me feel bad.
That's sad.
I mean, is there a reason you think
you're being ghosted this time?
I have a feeling it's because I can't swim very good.
Oh.
And you guys, I'm assuming, went swimming?
Yeah, well, I mean, you know, at the time, I didn't think it would be weird.
We went on a date down by the water, so I brought my life vest.
And just in case we went in.
Oh, your own life vest.
Yeah. Oh, it fits perfectly. It's like, you know, you can get a custom one. Actually,
it's very good.
You went to the water and you can't swim. So you took your life vest with you.
Yeah. Well, yeah. Just in case we got in, you know, okay, look, was it a dorky move?
Yes. Would it savey move? Yes.
Would it save my life?
Yes.
Also, yes.
She was laughing super hard and I thought it was like,
hey, we're both laughing together,
but I guess maybe
she was kind of laughing at me.
I don't know.
I can't dive
and that's gotten me
countless hours of time
with my wife.
It's the most hilarious thing
to watch.
She likes to try to teach me to dive. I don't anymore. I tried once gotten me countless hours of time with my wife. It's the most hilarious thing to watch. Because she likes to try to teach me to dive.
I don't anymore.
I tried once.
That's true.
She gets frustrated because I can't learn.
I don't learn.
I don't learn.
She gave up.
But at least we spent some time together doing that.
You know, it could be a way for you guys to spend time.
She could teach you to swim.
So what did you do before you went swimming?
Well, we were just kind of hanging out.
I had a couple drinks.
You know, I was drinking. She was drinking. And we're, you know, just honestly having a good time.
Just like at a bar or just.
Yeah, we were drinking Mad Dog 2020 down by the train tracks. Yes, we were at a bar.
When you said the first thing, I was like, that's cool.
Well, maybe, yeah, I guess I am a dork.
Maybe I should do that more often, I guess.
I really think maybe the reason she didn't get back in touch with me
is because I told her, like, I haven't had a good date in a long time,
and, like, I have a lot of bad dates.
And I told her that.
Did you open with that?
So, I don't know,
maybe she thought I was kind of pathetic
or something.
Yeah,
that could be a red flag.
If you go with someone
and they're like,
oh my God,
you're the best date ever,
all of my dates
end with fighting.
You're like,
wait a second.
I'm seeing a common
denominator here.
Maybe.
All right.
Well,
I guess that's the reason.
Yeah,
maybe I sabotaged
my own date.
It could have been
the life vest that you brought because you can't swim.
And it could have been the fact that you told her that you have a lot of bad dates and she's actually a good one for once.
That might have been what did it for you.
We'll try to find out, though.
OK, we'll play a song, come back, and then we'll call Jennifer and see if one of those is the reason she's not calling you back.
And if it isn't, we'll try to get the real reason out of her and see if we can get you another date if you still want one after you hear the reason.
OK?
Awesome. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. We'll play a song, come reason out of her and see if we can get you another date. If you still want one after you hear the reason. Okay. Awesome.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Thank you.
We'll play a song.
Come back and get your first date follow up next.
It's a Jubal show.
You're still looking for the video of you.
I'm watching it.
You're watching the video of me learning to dive.
I can't wait.
Trying.
Trying.
Trying.
To learn how to dive.
It's right in the middle of a first date follow up.
You lost some weight.
You look good now.
Now?
I mean.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
You look good.
That's what I was going for.
Thank you.
Alex and I were married, if you didn't know that.
We're right in the middle of a first date follow up.
And we talked to Mark, who's not getting a call back from a woman named Jennifer.
He said one of the reasons he thinks he's not getting a call back is because he doesn't know how to swim.
And they went swimming together and he brought a life vest
he says that he was good spirited about it though
and it was kind of a joke and I shared with him
that I can't dive and Alex tried to teach me
to dive one time so she's been watching the video ever since
it is pretty bad
it's pathetic
I mean I was crying out of laughter
the other reason that Mark thinks he's not getting a call back
from Jennifer is also the fact
that he shared with her that this is the
first good date he's been on in a while. Most of his dates
are bad, so maybe he sounds like a problem.
Either way, we're going to call her,
see if we can find out the real reason, and then
see if we can get him another date. All right, Mark, are you ready?
I'm ready. I'm ready.
Also, I've got to see that video.
I mean, if you're pathetic and you're married,
then maybe I have a chance.
All right.
Yeah.
We'll put it up.
It'll be on at the Jubal show.
We'll put it up after this first day follow-up.
So anyway, all right.
Here we go.
I'm going to dial Jennifer's phone number right now.
Hello?
Hi.
May I speak to Jennifer, please?
Yeah, this is Jennifer.
Hey, Jennifer, how are you?
My name is Jubal, and this is a radio show called The Jubal Show.
And my name is Alex from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show called The Jubal Show.
And my name is English Evan from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show called The Jubal Show.
And I'm Christian Gray Snow.
It's a radio show.
Wait, I messed up.
How are you, Jennifer?
Fine.
Why?
Can I help you guys?
Like, I guess I'm a little confused.
We're calling you today because you went on a date with a guy named Craig.
Is that right?
Mark.
Mark.
You went on a date with a guy named Mark.
And Mark emailed us because you haven't been calling him back and he wants to know why.
Oh, okay. So Mark, okay. Mark called you and wants to know why I'm not calling him.
Yes. It's a thing we do on the show. That's called the first date follow-up. If you go
out on a date with someone, end up ghosting them, they can email us to get you on the phone and go,
what happened? And that's why we're on the phone
with you right now. So what happened?
Um,
I mean, he's
an asshole is what happened.
We went
out, he took me on this date, like
kind of down by the water.
Yeah, he told us that you guys went down to the
water and went swimming. He didn't
describe it like he was an a-hole, though.
He seemed kind of nice when we spoke to him.
He did.
Oh, so he must not have told you that he was just checking out literally every single girl who walked by.
Oh, no.
Oh, no, he didn't.
Are you serious?
That's so cringy.
It's literally every single one.
What?
How old is he?
Yeah, also, speaking of how old is he, he also brought a life jacket to go swimming.
Oh.
Well, he did tell us that.
He told us that.
At first I thought it was like, yeah, okay, well, personally, you're like, okay, that's kind of cute.
And like, okay, you can't swim.
I'm not going to judge you.
But then after I just saw him like floating there, checking out literally every woman on the beach, It was just like, okay, this is actually really creepy.
Like how bad was he checking them out?
He could not look me in the eyes.
Like we, I would be talking to him and he would be looking everywhere but me.
Wow.
That's a no-no.
That's insane.
That is.
I mean, did you say anything about it?
I mean, that would be weird to say.
Um, no.
I mean, I kind of made a joke like you know i if i said something he didn't hear
me or wasn't paying attention i would be like hello are you who are you on a date with here
haha and he was like oh yeah haha sorry and but after a while it's just it's awkward you know
having to be like okay i'm basically forcing you to pay attention to me right yeah but it is super
creepy though and i could see how that'd be a turnoff if I was out on a date and the person I was with
was constantly checking everybody else out.
I'd be like, are you even interested in me?
Like people, people check other people out.
Like that's fine.
But Mark was like, oh, I haven't been on such, you know, I haven't been on a good date in
such a long time.
Blah, blah, blah.
You know?
And meanwhile, he is acting so desperate
checking out all these women when i'm like you are literally on a date right now with me like i'm
i'm your only hope here buddy like why are you not paying attention to me at one point on the
date like i told him this like kind of long story and he wasn't even looking at me and i was like
are you listening he looks back at me he goes oh'm sorry. I didn't hear what you said. I've been talking for like five minutes. Okay. That's understandable.
I guess he thought it was maybe that he thought it was the life vest or the fact that he said
he had had a lot of bad dates before. He thought those were the reasons, but apparently it's the
fact that he's looking for another date while he's on one. We've all had a lot of bad dates.
That's fine. And like I said, him not knowing how to swim, whatever.
It's totally fine.
But him just like basically floating in the middle of water and checking out every single
person on the beach was just, it's too much.
It is.
A floating creeper is too much.
I understand that.
Yep.
You know what else is interesting about him?
What?
He's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
Yeah. Oh, you. Yeah.
Oh, no.
No.
I can't even believe this.
I was not just like
gawking at other women.
That's crazy.
Come on.
I don't even know.
I don't even know what to say right now.
I don't know.
I mean, well, I mean,
what do you expect?
Everyone's wearing bikinis, okay?
You're wearing almost nothing.
Your eyes are going to peek over there.
You're not going to look at a guy with washboard abs, right?
Come on.
It's like you're just going to peek.
Your eyes just dart from one place to another.
I wasn't trying to slight you.
You know, I was just looking around. There was a lot of deceit. There was a lot going on.
I'm going to take a quick peek.
I'm not going to stare at it for five minutes straight.
Like, no.
And I'm not going to do it while you were actively talking to me.
Absolutely not. Like, no,
you need to learn to be more like fly because like, yeah, okay. Maybe I'll take a few peeks here or there, but not like, no, you need to learn to be more like fly because like,
yeah,
okay,
maybe I'll take a few peeks here or there,
but not like so obviously you are just doing it.
You're doing it all wrong.
No wonder you've had trouble dating in the past.
I mean,
I can't,
I can't,
this is how you treat people.
I can't believe you're being so mean to me about like something like so,
so simple.
Yeah.
It's not simple. You didn't even try to disguise it. It's all just a misunderstanding and you're just being so mean to me about something so simple. It's not simple.
You didn't even try to disguise it.
It's all just a misunderstanding.
I understand. You
wanted to be with everyone but me, and that's
why I didn't call you back. Obviously,
I'm wasting your time.
You didn't even know to disguise it, Mark.
You'd be like, ew, look at that bikini she's
wearing over there. That thing is disgusting, isn't it?
Let's look at that for a while and talk about it.
That's terrible, that thing.
Let's see the back of it.
That's got to be horrible, too.
I don't want to look at or talk about other women's bodies, period.
Like, you should be interested in my body.
You're on a date with me, and that's it, okay?
I forgave the fact that you were literally in a life vest.
You should be able to focus on me and make me feel good for,
you know, at least 10 minutes.
You may as well have been wearing a life vest, you know.
What is that?
Oh, that was rude.
That's harsh.
All right, well, I'm going to ask the question now.
This is a perfect time to ask it.
Would you like to go on another date with Mark?
Jennifer will pay for it.
No, absolutely.
You literally cannot pay me to hang out with him again.
Absolutely.
Oh, man. You literally cannot pay me to hang out with him again. Oh, man.
All right.
Well, that makes two of us.
Yeah.
I'll check out some other chicks that actually look good.
Look hot.
Good luck with that.
You're a mean.
You're mean.
You're a butt head.
You're a butt face. You're a butt face.
You're mean.
And now we know why you're single.
Okay, Mark.
That reminds me of my childhood.
I'm triggered.
Me too.
A butt face?
I couldn't say butt face when I was a kid, but I can say butt head.
Why couldn't you say butt face?
Because my parents wouldn't let me.
So is this a face?
Right?
That's what I thought.
I was like, what's the difference? That is weird.
Okay, butt face.
Well, you know what? You're an adult now. You can say butt face whenever you want.
I just don't want to.
