But now Joel is gone. What happened? He's no longer with us. Oh. That sounded way too dramatic. He's ghosted her, and she hasn't heard from him, and she doesn't know why. So we're going to see if we can figure it out for her.

Taylor, how are you? I'm okay. How are you guys? Pretty good. So you said you went out with a dude named Joel, and he's not calling you back. How long has it been since your date? It has been like a month. I mean, I've texted him.

Oh, wow. I've called him. I mean, I even slid into his DMs. Like, nothing. Like he hasn't gotten back with me. That's a long time. Very long time. I know. The date was so cute.

It was so good. He picked me up and we went to this bar arcade place. It was so cool. A barcade. What a name. So did you guys just go to that place and or was that it yeah yeah yeah we had dinner we played some games i mean it was really cool how did the actual date go like it was really like really well like we were both very interested in like dolphins and marine life which is like, like, so cool.

Oh, okay. I liked them a lot. Like, everything went well. Okay, so you guys talked about dolphins, and that's really kind of what you bonded over? Right, and everything was great until I got my hand stuck. Then everything just went wrong from there. Yes, I got my hand stuck. And what?

Well, so we were like playing one of those machines where you have to use the claw thing, you know, to get the stuffed animal. Oh, yeah. I'm a beast at those.

Yeah, I mean, I won and my hand got stuck in the hole where the stuffed animal falls. Ouch. Like I was trying to reach. Right. Yeah, I tried to reach up

in there one time to get one to see if you could reach up and grab one and steal it out. The difference there, Jubal, she won one and you were trying to steal reach. Right. Yeah. Also, she's, yeah, she's an adult and I was a kid.

So anyway, did I have to call like emergency services or something? Yeah. Like I don't even know like how I got it. But like the staff at the arcade had to, like, help me get my hand out. Like, it was 15 minutes. Like, people were, like, gathered around. It was so super embarrassing. Did it ruin the date, though?

Or, like, was he able to laugh at what was happening? Well, after my hand was removed from the machine, like, my wrist, like, super sore. I bet. But it gave me, like, some ice. Mm-hmm. And so he offered to walk me to my car because the ice started melting and leaking all over the arcade. So it kind of ended our date. Oh, so it ended early.

But, I mean, he was, like, laughing at me, like, the whole time. And, I mean, just, like, funny, you know, like, not laughing at me, but, you know, just thinking it was funny and it mean just like funny you know like not laughing at me but you know just thinking it was funny and it was like no big deal. Like he was trying to lighten the mood and make it not like a huge deal maybe help you not be embarrassed. Trying to make it not as horrible. He wasn't shaming you.

Yeah. Like he was trying to help me because I was so mortified. I was embarrassed but I mean I would have thought I was funny if it wasn't me, you know what I'm saying? Um, but, um,

he gave me a hug and he said he talked to me later. And so that's how it ended. And nothing. All right. And I'm assuming you like the guy a lot since it's been such a long time and you haven't, you know, heard from him.

and that's why he can't answer the phone. We figured it out. That might be it, too. Well, no, because if you're motivated enough, he'll learn to do it with his feet. He could have told Siri to call for him. Yeah, exactly. We got Siri now, too, yeah.

and she was playing the claw game where they have the stuffed animals in it and the claw goes down and then it goes on top of the stuffed animal's head and you get super excited because there's no way that it would let go.

And she reached up and she won an animal and she went to go reach up in and grab it because it didn't fall all the way down and her arm got stuck and it was like a big thing and they had to have the staff help her out of it. But the dude that she went on a date with

seemed to like, was like trying to lighten the mood and she said that she had a really fun time still and that didn't ruin anything, but her date did have to end right after that because her arm was hurt. So now she's not getting a call back from him. It's been over a month and we're going to get him on the phone

and see if we can figure out what happened. Okay. Taylor, are you ready? Yeah. I mean, my hand and arm is better now, so that's good. I think I'm ready. Here we go. I'm dialing his phone right now. Hello? Hi, may I speak to Joel, please? Speaking. Hey, Joel, how are you? My name is Jubal.

That's where if you go out on a date with someone and don't call them back, they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened.

And one of our listeners emailed us about you, Joel. I'm assuming it's a girl named Taylor. Yes, it is. It is Taylor. Correct. She wants to know why you're ghosting her. Oh, my gosh. This girl is a hot mess.

Hot mess express? Hot mess so hot that she gets her hand locked in a machine? Hand thing? What? Yeah, she told us about how she had this horrible experience of getting her arms stuck in one of those machines, you know, like the claw machines where you go to get one of the stuffed animals. Is that why you're not talking to her? Hilarious.

No, but no, that's not the reason I'm avoiding her. She's just a mess. Like, first of all, she showed up to the date like nearly an hour late. Oh. Hour late, yeah. That's disrespectful. Yeah, I mean, I stuck around, had a few drinks while I waited, and then she

just stormed in super late, saying she was late because of L.A. traffic. L.A. traffic? Yeah, L.A. traffic. She just moved here from L.A., so everything she talked about was just L.A., L.A. this, L.A. that. It's ridiculous. So is it only because she was late? Why else was she a hot mess? Well, everything.

She would say, oh, back in L.A., that's L.A. L.A., we do this back in L.A. Like, what are you, like Los Angeles ambassador? It was really annoying. Influencer? Yeah, influencer.

Yeah, did she just move here or something? Yeah, she just moved from L.A. to here. So that's the only reason that you're not like calling her back or anything because it's been a month and she said she tried to contact you pretty much everywhere except LinkedIn. Like she tried everything else though.

Why would you not just want to like, you know, tell her I'm not interested rather than having her keep it. Let her know what's up. I mean, I would, if she would even let me get a word in without, you know,

talking, comparing it to LA, LA, this, LA, that. Like, so I just didn't want to talk to her.

All right. Well, it's too bad you don't want to talk to her because she had her people call your people, which is you. That's pretty LA. She's actually on the other line listening and wants to talk to you.

It's not, it's not your hand getting stuck. It's all you do is talk about, you know, like you're not even from there

and she's obsessed with it. Yeah, I know, right? Those people are so annoying, like me. Um, okay.

And that's the only reason you don't want to go out with her though. I mean, like you can't get past that. I think it was super annoying and coming to a date an hour late, are you kidding me?

Yeah, an hour late is bad. It was the traffic. I mean, it was horrible. It was just like LA. Oh my God. It was bad traffic.

Yeah, you got to plan for traffic. Yeah. It's like LA. You should know that if you're from LA except that people in LA think everything's 20 minutes

and then they're late. I know that because I... I don't know if it's an LA thing but 20 minutes and then they're late. I know that because I... alright well I'm sorry I'm not even interested anyway yeah you've got other options huh yeah I do have a lot of options I have a lot of guys asking me out I just thought we had a real connection so I really wanted to explore this but I have two dates of guys asking me out.
