First date follow-up.
Today, Russ is on the phone for a first date follow-up.
Apparently, he's not getting a call back from a woman named Lisa that he met on Tinder.
That was me looking at my notes.
Yeah, they met on Tinder.
I saw that, actually.
I'm looking at my notes here, Russ, and it says you met Lisa on Tinder.
Yeah, I met Lisa on Tinder.
We started chatting, and I thought things were going pretty well.
But now she's been ghosting me.
Well, what did you guys do for your date? Well, we went out and set up a little
outdoor picnic.
Okay.
Kind of a fun little thing. We both
like the outdoors and I thought it would be a great
way to kind of connect without too much pressure.
Right. And a picnic's
cool. Yeah, it is fun. You can
make a picnic super fun. Yeah, you can.
Yeah, I thought I did a pretty good job getting it all set up and I thought everything went well, but
I haven't heard anything from her since. So that was the, is that the only date you guys
had to? Yeah, yeah. We had been talking on Tinder for a while and then we got each other's
numbers and we're talking and that like every single day we're sending multiple messages
and then it's just been dead silence.
And I don't know if I said something wrong
or like, I don't know, smelled.
Like, I don't know.
It just...
What did you have to eat on your picnic?
Yeah, it could have been what you chose.
Did you make the food?
Because if you made the food,
it could have been that.
I just did like a charcuterie thing,
like sliced meats, salami, cheeseami cheese yeah how do you think she
like enjoyed the day was she into it did she seem like she liked you back
yeah i mean it started off going really really well and then i don't know uh kind of got cold
by the end of it and i don't mean the weather wise mean, it just seemed like she became super uninterested.
We didn't kiss at the end of it.
It was I thought things were going well when we were chatting, but I don't know.
It just seemed weird to me that she hasn't reached back out yet.
OK, but by the end of the date, you could tell that her mood had turned.
Yeah.
So I'm going to say it's safe to say that you guys didn't share a kiss.
Yes.
No,
we did not share a kiss.
Okay.
So replay your date,
not the whole thing.
Like we don't have time for you to replay every single moment of the date,
but at what moment did her mood change?
Do you know?
I don't know.
We were,
uh, we were kind of leaning in close and I thought like we were going to kiss and
I don't know,
it seemed like she pulled away and then spent the rest of the time at the other side of the
picnic blanket. So there wasn't anything that like you talked about that maybe
rubbed her the wrong way. It wasn't something that you can like pinpoint.
I can't think of anything. I mean, I joked about a few things that we talked about in messages,
but it was never anything that was like controversial.
Well, when you said it was like, felt like you guys were about to kiss,
who was the one leaning in? Was it one of those where you both kind of went in for it or
you got close and then you're like, you know what, I'm going to shoot my shot right now.
And you started to go in.
Yeah, I started going in.
I thought everything had been going super, super well.
And I was going in and she pulled back.
Okay.
The mood was kind of off after that.
Maybe that was it.
Maybe you tried to go in for a kiss too soon.
Yeah, yeah, maybe it is that.
Was it right after she sat down for the picnic?
You're like, let's just get it out of the way and kiss right now?
Or was it further into the date?
No, it was definitely further into the date.
Like, it seemed like it had been going really, really well.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have cried, you know?
Okay.
Yeah.
But maybe that's it, though.
I mean, if it happened right after that, it's probably something with the kiss, I would guess.
Do you lean in for a kiss tongue out already?
Or do you wait until the lips touch?
Yeah,
that's disgusting to even think about.
I'm definitely a waiter and usually no tongue on the first date kind of guy.
Yeah.
Cause if you lead with the tongue,
usually that's a turnoff.
All right.
Well,
we'll try to figure it out for you,
man.
We'll play a song,
come back and then call her and see if we can find out why she's not,
why she's been ghosting you.
Okay.
All right,
guys.
Thank you.
All right.
We'll get your first day follow up right after this.
It's a jewel show. If you're just right. We'll get your first date follow-up right after this. It's The Jubal Show.
If you're just joining us for today's first date follow-up,
Russ is on the phone,
and Russ met a girl named Lisa on Tinder.
He really liked her.
They went out for a picnic,
which is a good idea for a date.
He made a charcuterie board,
which how do you not get a call back
if you've made a charcuterie board?
I don't know.
But he said that he's not getting a call back from Lisa
after their date at the park,
and he really liked her, and he can't figure out why. The only thing that he can think of is that he tried not getting a call back from Lisa after their date at the park. And he really liked her and he can't figure out why.
The only thing that he can think of is that he tried to go in for a kiss kind of middle-ish to the end of the date.
And she pulled away.
And then her mood sort of changed.
So we think it's the fact that Russ, when he goes in for a first kiss, he shared with us this in case you missed it.
When he goes in for a first date, he likes to lead with his tongue and it's really weird.
So he thinks that might be what happened.
He didn't say that.
No, thank you, Alex.
I did not lead with the tongue.
All right.
It might've been just too soon to try and kiss.
Yeah, yeah, that's possible.
I don't know.
It seemed like the vibes were there.
All right, we're about to call her and see if we can figure it out for you.
Are you ready to go?
Yeah, guys, thank you.
All right, good luck.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Lisa, please?
This is her.
Hey, Lisa.
How are you?
This is The Jubal Show.
My name is Jubal.
Mine's Alex Fresh.
Okay.
So, I've never heard of you guys.
Why are you calling me? We're calling you because we do a
segment on the jubile show with jubile fresh and alex fresh they called the first the first day
follow-up where if you go out on a date with someone and then you end up not calling them
back after they can email us to get you on the phone and ask what happened and you recently went out on a date with a guy named Russ.
Oh yeah.
Russ.
Russ is the dude that emailed us.
Okay.
You're not entertained by that one bit and that's fine.
Why are you not calling Russ back?
What happened?
Um,
I really liked Russ,
but like,
well,
what did,
what did he tell you?
This is so weird.
He said that you guys met on Tinder and that he took you to a park, like had a picnic for
a date.
Charcuterie boarded it up for you, which is cool.
Not a lot of dudes doing charcoots for dates, you know?
Yeah, that was sweet.
He said there was a moment in the date though, where your mood kind of changed.
And he said he went in for a kiss and then your mood kind of changed.
And that's the last he heard from you.
So he really liked you.
And he thought things were going well until that moment.
And he's wondering if he went in for a kiss too soon or if it's the fact that he leads with his tongue.
No.
Well, yeah.
I mean, I really liked him and he was very sweet.
And that is about the moment that it broke for me because when he leaned in, I could
smell one of my favorite perfumes on him.
What?
And that just, yeah.
He was wearing one of your perfumes?
One of my favorite perfumes.
I told him about like the perfumes I like.
I told him what my favorite was.
I mean, I could really tell when I was
leaning in that he had this same perfume on. Like, it was like he went and bought it because
when we were talking about it, he had never heard of the perfume before. And I, it's,
yeah, okay. It's the unisex fresh scent one. It's not like super flowery, but I just thought
it was really, really weird.
So let me just make sure that I'm keeping track. You guys, before you went on your date, were talking about what perfume you wear.
And he must have gone and bought the same perfume and was also wearing it on your date.
That's what I was guessing.
Why would he do that, though?
That is like a strange flex.
Yeah, it is.
Like, hey, why would you buy the same perfume as the person you're on a date with your first date?
And that is strange.
Yeah, I thought so, too.
So I took like 20 different routes home.
That's funny.
I would like to know why he did that or if he did that.
It's even hard for me to believe that somebody would do that.
I mean, it doesn't surprise me.
No? No.
No. Why?
Because people do weird things like that. Yeah, I guess you're right.
There are a lot of weird people out there. I don't know if Russ
is weird or not. He didn't sound weird when we talked to him.
He didn't. Russ, say hi to Lisa.
What? Hi, Lisa. Say hi to Russ.
Yeah.
Oh my God. Hi, Russ. Say hi to Russ. Yeah. Oh, my God. Hi, Russ.
Hi.
I really can't explain the perfume thing.
I'm sorry.
I thought it was going to be kind of funny, but then you kind of pulled away,
and there didn't really seem to be a good point to bring it up to you.
I thought it would get a laugh, but I'm sorry it creeped you out.
But at what point was I supposed to laugh?
Well, we had talked and we had been talking about what perfume you wore. And so I went out and bought it.
And I thought that as soon as you smelled it, you'd remember those conversations and think it was kind of a funny, I don't know, quirky thing.
And I don't know, we'd laugh about it and it would be funny. But I guess it really didn't go that way.
No, it was kind of creepy.
I mean, at no point did I think that that would be a joke and it was not brought up.
And you're obviously not a woman, which is good because, you know, but like that's just
creepy.
Russ, you could see how that would just creepy. Russ,
you could see how that would be creepy if you didn't explain that it was a joke.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was a lot funnier in my head.
And then,
uh,
yeah,
I didn't really see a good time to bring it up.
I know a good time that you could have brought it up.
You could have brought it up like on a message instead of a radio show. Just saying.
Yeah. But I didn't know that wasn't why you were calling me back.
Well, Lisa, now that you know it was a joke and he wasn't just being a creep buying the
same perfume as you, he was actually trying to make you laugh, which I hear women like
dudes that can make them laugh. Would you like to go out with, well, he didn't make
you laugh, but still, would you like to go out with Russ again on another date?
We'll pay for it.
Chops? Steakhouse?
Let's do it.
You want to go to a steakhouse?
Yeah, we'll send you to a steakhouse.
You want some lamb chops?
Sure.
Is that what I heard?
Yeah.
So will you do it if we send you to a steakhouse?
You know what?
If Russ can work on communication
and not
pull things like that again, I did really
like him. So is that a yes?
And I'm willing to give him another shot, yeah.
Yay! Alright, awesome.
Russ, congratulations.
Even though you creeped her out by wearing the same
perfume as her, you got another day.
Yeah, good. I'll wear my
own cologne this time.
Thank you. And Lisa, I have a whole my own cologne this time. Thank you.
And Lisa, I have a whole bunch of that perfume left if you want it.
Sure.
Bring it with you.
That stuff's expensive.
