The Jubal Show on demand.
First day follow-up.
I'm always interested about what apps people meet each other on.
You know, like there's the normal ones like Tinder and Farmers Only and Vegetable Lovers Only.
Christian Mingle.
Whatever, but there's, you know, there's all the kind, but sometimes they meet in places where you don't really expect it.
And Kelly, who's on the phone for our first date follow-up today,
isn't getting a call back from a guy named Trayvon,
and apparently they met kind of in a weird place.
Anyway, I'll let her tell it.
Kelly, before we find out about how you met Trayvon
and more about your date and try to speculate on why he's not calling you back,
how long has it been since you went out with him?
It's been about three weeks.
Three weeks?
Why are you just trying to reach out to him now?
Well, I would have done it like two weeks ago, but apparently you guys have so many
requests for these things that your producers told me that I couldn't do it until now.
We do get a lot of requests for these and sometimes it takes a while to get to them,
but at least we called you back.
Unlike Trayvon, that was rude.
I didn't mean it that way.
But anyway, how many times have you tried to get a hold of him since your date?
Probably about like five times because I texted him and then I messaged him on LinkedIn and Instagram.
LinkedIn.
I feel like it's a little weird to reach out on LinkedIn.
I don't know.
Yeah, I agree.
You know, I know it's kind of like a weird place to meet a guy for a date, but you can see similar interests.
Like we both work in the tech industry,
and I actually don't really even know how he saw my profile,
but he reached out to me and asked me out.
And I think, you know, like you guys at first, I was a little confused.
And I thought it was strange, but he was a really nice guy.
Well, what did you guys do for the date?
We ended up kind of meeting up
and talking
and we had dinner
and we actually went to this bar
and there was a trivia night.
So all my friends were there.
That's fun.
It was nice.
I mean, to bring around your friends
on a first date, that's a bold move.
I wanted it to be casual, you know,
and it was still fun.
Like, I feel like you get to know people pretty well.
Like, I found out he is really, really smart
and he's cute and he's well off.
Which isn't bad.
Yeah, so it was like, yeah, my friends were around,
but it was still a date.
We still got to know each other a little bit.
Okay, and did your friends approve of him?
I think my friends thought
he was a little awkward.
He is just a little awkward.
But he's adorable.
Like, he's really, really smart.
So that was pretty attractive.
And it was cool.
It was nice to hang out with someone who, yeah, knew all the trivia, but he was also
legit sweet.
And after the trivia, he walked me to my car and I gave him a little kiss on the cheek
and he did this little giggle thing that was adorable.
So it was cute.
Well, why do you think he's not calling you back?
You know, I
I don't know. I
answered a lot of the trivia wrong
and I'm
not stupid, but maybe he
I don't know, thinks I'm not that smart.
So you think that maybe Trayvon,
the guy you went out with, isn't calling you back because
he wasn't impressed by your knowledge
at trivia night and he maybe
thinks that you're not smart enough to date him. Yeah yeah i just think maybe he thinks that i'm not on his level that's rude
that is very if that's what he thinks but we don't know that so we'll give him a call all right um
hopefully it's not that though i mean i couldn't see that being a reason but there are judgy people
like that so maybe if that's the only thing that went wrong then hopefully it's not that because
i'm not gonna like him very much if that's the case that's went wrong, then hopefully it's not that. Cause I'm not going to like him very much.
If that's the case,
that's rude.
But anyway,
well,
I mean,
you know,
if you,
I guess if you think someone's not on your level and can't talk to you about
stuff,
it makes sense.
But like,
it just seems judgy.
Yeah.
It's a stupid trivia night.
It's cooling someone down.
Yeah,
it is.
All right.
Well,
we're going to play a song,
come back and then call him and see if we can figure it out for you with
your first day followup.
Okay.
All right.
Thank you. Yep. We'll do it next. It's a Jubal show. out for you with your first day follow-up. Okay. All right. Thank you.
Yep.
We'll do it next.
It's a Jubal show.
In the middle of your first day follow-up,
if you're just joining us,
Kelly is on the phone and Kelly is real dumb.
Isn't that right,
Kelly?
I mean,
I hope not.
Why are the pretty ones always so dumb?
No.
Oh,
I hope not.
Yeah.
Kelly isn't getting a call back
From a dude named Trayvon
They actually met on LinkedIn
Because
He found her profile somehow
They work in the same tech industry
And they agreed to go out
They went to dinner
And then they hung out
With some friends of hers
And played trivia
And she liked him a lot
Said he was cute
Really smart
A little bit on the shy side
You say he's kind of like
A little awkward
A little socially awkward But ended the night With a kiss on the cheek And he giggled a little bit on the shy side. You say he's kind of like a little awkward. A little socially awkward.
But ended the night with a kiss on the cheek
and he giggled a little bit,
like a little school girl.
Happy about that.
And since then she hasn't heard from him.
She thinks maybe she was bad at trivia
and Trayvon seems like a smart guy.
So maybe he was judging her based on that.
And we don't know.
We're about to call him right now
and see if we can find out anything else
you want to add before we do that.
I don't think so.
I think I'm ready. Okay, here we go. I'm going're about to call him right now and see if we can find out anything else you want to add before we do that? I don't think so. I think I'm ready.
Okay, here we go. I'm going to dial the phone number right now.
Hello? I'm looking for Trayvon.
Yeah, this is Trayvon.
Who is this?
Hey, man, how are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
And it's Alex Ruff from The Jubal Show.
And this is English Evan from The Jubal Show.
It sounds like you're busy.
We'll keep this quick if you have a moment to talk to us.
Yeah, sorry.
Let me just give me a us. Yeah, sorry. Give me a second.
Okay, sorry.
Yeah, I'm at work.
Go ahead.
We do a segment on this show called the First Date Follow-Up.
Have you ever heard of that before?
I'm not sure.
Is it on like Fox?
I really don't watch network TV.
I'm sorry.
No, this is a radio show, not a TV show.
Oh. Network TV. I'm sorry. No, this is not. This is a radio show, not a TV show. Oh, is it like terrestrial radio
or satellite or like a podcast?
It's like regular radio.
The first one.
Just regular old fashioned radio
that I guess you don't listen to.
No, sorry.
I usually like only listen to
binaural beats in my headphones.
Oh, okay.
While I work.
Wow.
Sweet.
All right.
Well, we are not that for sure.
Those things are good for your brain, I hear.
Well, there's also this like other couple podcasts that I like.
Wait, I'm sorry.
Why are you calling me again?
Yeah, that's right.
You a f***ing nerd.
Because you're not calling someone back That you went on a date with
Do you know who we're talking about?
Are you talking about Kelly?
Yes we are
And we do a segment
Where if you go on a date with someone
And don't call them back
They can email us
To get you on the phone
And ask why
So Kelly emailed us
And told us about your date
And she said that she's sad because
she could use some more Trayvon in her life and you haven't called her back and we're calling to
see what's up with that this is interesting so you do this often too much actually we do it a lot
you mind sharing it with us though because she really wants to know
uh yeah I kind of do mine.
I mean, that's kind of personal.
If you're feeling iffy about telling us,
I'll tell you what she said.
She said she really liked you,
enjoyed the date, thought it was awesome.
You went to trivia night.
She feels like she did a bad job at trivia
and you were really good at it.
So maybe you don't think she's smart enough to date you.
Oh, no, I don't think that at all i was actually very like
impressed by her i mean really she's really smart and very charismatic you know i don't go out much
so it was you know it was nice to cut loose with her on the trivia court you know what i mean okay
but we're like all really dying to know why you won't go out with her again. I realized something that night about dating.
What about it?
Well, I just realized that for me, dating is, I don't know how to put this, but basically dreadful.
Oh, I mean, dating is dreadful.
I thought you said Kelly didn't suck though. She was cool.
Yeah, she was cool. I mean mean she's smart, like I said,
and very beautiful and charismatic.
I just realized how much I hate dating, you know,
it's been a few years since I went on a date,
and so I thought I'd give it a try again,
and it just reconfirmed for me that I just hate dating.
Yeah, that's pretty terrible.
Like I just don't wanna date anyone, ever.
But don't you think like sometimes
you might wanna do something else?
Yes, I get it
And that sounds like a good idea in theory
But I don't know how to say this
But I don't really need that
And if I do need something intimate
I know how to handle it
I just prefer to be alone and work
You're completely self-sufficient even in the bedroom department.
Do you just hate people, Trayvon?
No, I'm not saying that at all.
I like people, but I just love my work more.
You know, I love my computer and my work.
And it's not fair to continue a relationship with someone, you know, knowing that there's not going to be a future for that person.
So I just don't feel comfortable.
Yeah, but you could also tell her, text her back.
Yeah, you don't have to ghost someone.
You could even tell her right now because she's on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
Hi, Trayvon.
Trayvon?
I'm here.
Hi.
Hi.
This has now gotten really strange.
Kelly, you just heard why he's not calling you back.
Yeah.
I mean, is that true?
You don't want to have a relationship with anybody?
Well, yeah.
I'm sorry I didn't tell you that when we were out.
I wanted to try.
I just, I really did.
It's just not, I'm sorry.
I'm just, it's not going to work.
Okay. That's really it. You just, you don't want to date.
Yeah. I mean, I, I'm sorry. You're really smart and cool. And I had a great time. I just,
I, I, it's very awkward for me and I just don't feel right leading someone on.
And I apologize. Listen, Kelly, you deserve to be with a man who's a dater.
And I'm just not a dater.
You deserve to be with a dater.
Well, wait, before we end this, I do have to ask a question, Trayvon.
It's not that I wasn't paying attention to what you were saying.
I just don't really care what you said because I still have to ask the question no matter what.
But would you like to go on another date with Kelly?
We'll pay for it.
I just really don't think.
Actually, I have an idea.
Oh, you know what?
I got it.
I'll pay you to come with me to these work events.
So, you know, because you're so outgoing and fun,
and I do enjoy being around you.
You come with me to these.
So this way you can, like, way you can be outgoing and talk to people
and then we'll still get to actually go out and do things.
Kelly, what do you think about that, Kelly?
So you're gonna pay her to be your girlfriend
to go to these things to talk to people?
Well yeah, just to pretend to be my girlfriend
for the time that we go out.
That is definitely an escort,
is what you're describing.
Yeah, definitely. Kelly, are you above being an escort no i don't want anything anything else
other than just the company and and her to be you know a block against me having to talk to people
uh wow okay um well for like you don't have to pay me.
That's,
that's weird.
I don't want to be paid.
Kelly,
will you go out with Trayvon,
but be paid to talk to people?
So he doesn't have to,
well,
you said,
Nope,
not paid,
but we'll hang out with him so you can talk to him.
So he doesn't have to.
I mean,
I,
I have to be honest with you,
Trayvon,
I'll do it.
Um,
but like, you don't have to pay me with you, Trayvon, I'll do it.
But, like, you don't have to pay me or anything.
Just, you know, if you want to date for something, let me know.
I'll go with you. But I've noticed something about you that I really like,
and I'm going to do it because eventually, like, just full disclosure,
I want you to date me.
So I'm going to try to sleep with you next time.
Okay.
Oh,
transparency.
There you go.
It's all out there now.
You okay with that?
Oh my God.
Yeah,
I guess I am.
