Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric. Well, the election is in the homestretch, right in time
for a new season of my podcast, Next Question. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's,
to help me out, like Ezra Klein, Jen Psaki, Astead Herndon. But we're also going to have
some fun, thanks to some of my friends like Samantha Bee and Charlemagne the God. We're
going to take some viewer questions as well.
I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about?

First date follow-up.
I'll take this first date follow-up with mayonnaise and mustard on it, please.
Why?
Is it a hot dog?
No.
That sounds delicious, too.
Because Dan is on the phone for a first date follow-up,
and he met the woman that he wants to call today at a sandwich shop.
Oh.
A very well-known sandwich shop.
Yum.
Delicious.
Is it where you eat fresh and there's only one way to go?
I think it might be.
Anyway, before we find out about the date
and why Dan thinks he's not getting a call back from CeCe, let's find out a little bit more, shall we?
We shall.
Dan, what's up, man? How are you? So, how long has it been since your last date with CeCe?
It's been like two weeks.
Two weeks, alright. And how many times have you tried to reach out to her since then?
A few times. I mean, I don't want to be creepy or anything, but I've reached out maybe a couple times
in the last couple of weeks each week.
A few or a couple.
Yeah.
It's very different.
Maybe six times.
That's a lot.
That's a lot.
That's called a couple.
That's a little bit much.
Might not be too much to do you in, though,
if she's not blowing you off,
but it sounds like she's ghosting you.
Has she responded to any of that?
No, she hasn't, and I don't know why. She's definitely ghosting you. So tell us about your date. What'd you guys end up doing? All right. So, uh, I thought it would
be fun, you know, in light of everything that had been going on in the world, I thought
it'd be cool to go to a drive-in theater cause the drive-in theater, you know, where it was
open. Uh, so it was kind of nostalgic. I thought it'd be fun. I don't even know where you can find one of those.
They're around.
They are.
They're very hard to find.
I guess I don't look.
Yeah.
Because I don't want to go.
And so how was it?
Did she seem to enjoy it?
You know, that's the thing.
It seemed like it went really well.
She seemed like she was having a good time.
I kind of pulled that yawn thing about, you know,
three-quarters of the way and got my arm around her.
She didn't seem to, you know, to pull away or anything like that.
So I thought everything was going really well.
Did you guys neck in the car?
No, I wouldn't say it went that far.
I mean, we weren't like, you know, swap and spit or anything like that.
No.
Okay.
So you didn't kiss?
I mean, at the end of the night, it was a small kiss, but it wasn't like a romantic, impassionate kiss.
Okay.
That's a good sign, though, still.
Why do you think she's not calling you back?
You know, I really don't know.
That's the thing.
It seemed to go really well. And there wasn't, like, any point during the date or during the movie where you thought it was, like, uncomfortable or something?
You know, she got nervous?
I mean, it was hot a little bit, you know, like sexy hot or temperature hot. It doesn't sound like it was that sexy. No, I would say it was temperature hot
really more than anything. Okay. And so you think cause it's hot, you might not be getting a call
back. Um, well, you know, everything seemed really fine on the date.
I didn't notice anything that seemed strange or anything.
I do know that at the end of the date, even though we did have a nice small kiss,
I kind of felt like maybe she was a little bit more, maybe expecting more.
Maybe driving was kind of cheap and my car really
isn't all that fancy or anything.
So I was kind of thinking that maybe, if anything, that could be it.
Maybe she felt I was cheap for going to a drive-in and not really having anything fancy
and my car being kind of old. So you're thinking maybe she thinks you're a drive-in and not really having anything fancy and my car being kind of old, you know.
So you're thinking maybe she thinks you're a bro-co.
Well, I don't live with my mom or anything.
I didn't say you were.
I was saying maybe she thinks you're a bro-co.
And as we all know, some ladies don't like a bro-co.
Also, I live with my grandma,
so nothing wrong if you did live with your mom.
And nothing wrong with being a bro-co.
Do you think she's a bro wrong with being a bro-co. Yeah.
Do you think she's a bro-co?
A bro-co.
Yeah, you know, I mean, maybe she thought I didn't make a lot of money or something like that.
I mean, that definitely, I mean, I suppose that could be it.
All right, well, we'll play a song, come back, and then call her and find out if the reason she's not calling you back is for something else or because she thinks you're a broke-out.
We'll do it right after this.
It's the Jubal Show.
In the middle of today's first date follow-up, and if you're just joining us, Dan is on the
phone, and Dan is not getting a call back from a woman named Cece.
They met at a sandwich shop that has Subway in the title of it, and he asked her out on
a date.
They went to a drive-in theater.
He thought it was a great idea
for a date, you know, something a little different. And he said the night went well. She seemed really
into it. They kind of like had like a little bit of a kiss at the end of the date. But since then,
it's been two weeks and he's heard nothing from her. The only reason that Dan thinks he might not
be getting a callback is because the date was kind of cheap. Also, he drives an older car and he thinks that maybe
she wants someone who's got more money and Dan might be a bro-co. So we'll give her a call right
now and we'll see if we can find out the real reason she's not calling Dan back. All right,
Dan, you ready to go? Yeah, I'm ready. And again, I'm not a bro-co. I'm not. Okay. All right. Dan
is not a bro-co. All right, here we go. I'm dial a broke hoe. I'm not. Okay. All right. Dan is not a broke hoe.
All right, here we go.
I'm dialing the phone number.
Hello?
May I speak to Cece, please?
This is she. Who is this?
Hi, Cece. This is Jubal from the radio show The Jubal Show.
And this is Oxfresh.
And this is English Evan.
And we're all from The Radio Show called The Jubal Show.
Okay. Why are y'all calling me?
We're calling you because you went on a date with someone.
Okay.
We do a segment on the show called the First Date
Follow-Up. It's where if you go out on a date
with someone and end up
not calling them back, they can email us
to get you on the phone and ask why.
And we got an email
about you.
Email from who? His name is
Dan. Yeah, I remember
Dan. Alright, what do you remember about Dan?
I mean, Dan,
he was really nice. He's a nice
guy. I mean,
we went to a drive-in movie and he even did
the cute little, you know, yawn
and put his arm around me. I thought it was really
cute and corny.
Why are you not calling
him back?
Well, so everything was great on the day. He's a really
sweet guy.
It was just too awkward.
I feel weird to call him
back. The ending was just
kind of
uncomfortable. The ending?
I mean, I asked him
what he thought might be the reason why you're not
calling him back and he didn't really have anything that I thought would be the reason why so what happened at the end?
So like he he's really nice. He was great. Like he didn't do like anything wrong
um, but when he hugged me
he was like
really really sweaty like
his pits were completely like covered in wet and like
literally made
like my shoulders wet
wow so and I'm guessing
that's not a turn on for you
no it's like it's just
gross I was embarrassed for the guy
like did he know
I mean I don't
know I would think he must know I mean
I know I know when I'm like sweating.
If it's the amount.
If it's that bad.
Yeah.
Maybe he has hyperhidrosis.
That's a real thing.
That is a real thing.
That's where your armpit's just like.
I don't know.
If he doesn't know, he probably knows now.
He definitely knows now because he's on the phone listening.
What?
Oh, yeah.
Dan is on the phone listening to this conversation and wants to talk to you.
Uh,
hi CC.
Yeah,
I'm on the phone.
I listened to the whole thing.
I,
uh,
I didn't realize that was a problem.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I didn't know that you were listening.
You know,
it's fine.
I,
you know,
I didn't really,
uh,
realize about all,
all the sweat stuff.
I'm,
I'm sorry about that. Uh, you know, I didn't know that it was, sweat stuff. I'm sorry about that.
I didn't know that it was so obvious.
I mean, I got those old seats in the car, so they're kind of sticky.
And I apologize for that, and I'm sorry that that happened.
And I would certainly love another chance if I can have it.
Did you know you were sweating that much?
I mean, I do sweat a lot,
but I didn't realize it was so much that I was getting all over her.
It's quite a cut-off. It literally stained my sweater.
And I just felt really uncomfortable and it was awkward and weird.
And I didn't know what to say to you after,
so I just didn't want to call.
So his pit stains stained your sweater when he hugged you?
It was, like, I guess stain's the wrong word, but it was, like, he got his sweat all over my sweater.
Like, there was literally a wet spot on my shoulder.
Like, it was gross.
Dan, was it just, like, nerves, or do you just sweat a lot?
I mean, I sweat a lot. I suppose I sweat a lot, maybe more when I'm a little nervous.
I mean, she's an attractive woman.
Oh, that's kind of cute.
I mean, Dan, that is gross, but I'm sorry that you have to deal with that.
Yeah. So Dan's a sweaty guy. He also sweats a lot when he's nervous and he was nervous
around you. That's kind of nice. That's cute.
That's endearing.
Yeah.
So, Cece, is it endearing enough to go on another date with Dan?
We'll pay for it.
Would you let him sweat on you one more time to see if you really like him enough to look past the sweat?
We'll pay for it.
Well, I mean, I guess I could go on one more date with you and give you another chance.
Oh, yay.
Whoa.
It worked out.
Okay.
Maybe I'll just drive this time since my car is air conditioning.
All right.
Hey, cool them down.
Congratulations, Dan.
Yay.
Dan, you got another date.
All right.
That sounds good to me.
Thank you, guys.
Anti-perspirant.
Yes.
Thank you, Cece.
Thank y'all. Dan, make sure you try the roll-on, not the me. Thank you, guys. Anti-perspirant. Yes. Thank you, Cece. Thank y'all.
Dan, make sure you try the roll-on, not the spray.
That'll do better.
Or do you even use it?
I definitely do use it.
Okay.
Anti-perspirant deodorant.
Yes.
All right, congratulations.
Dan, you live to sweat another day.
