Zach is on the phone today for a first date follow-up. Zach is on the phone today for a first date follow-up, and I'm really hoping, really hoping that he did something super awkward on his date,
Starting point is 00:01:52 but I'm not sure. He's not getting a call back from a woman named Jenny. He said that they met at a tattoo shop. Zach, please tell me that you got her name tattooed on you for your date. Now you're like, she won't even call me back. Now I might have to get this thing removed. I wish I could say that's the reason because that would be more obvious. But no, I actually got fun tattooed on my knee.
Starting point is 00:02:13 No. Fun tattooed on your knee. Fun knee. Yeah, so now I have a fun knee. Okay. Oh my God. That's really good. Do you have a lot of tattoos?
Starting point is 00:02:23 No, that was my first tattoo actually. That's your first tattoo? Normally when you get a tattoo like that, it's someone who's got a bunch. And you're just like, now you don't care, right? I have quite a few tattoos. I would pretty much get almost anything tattooed on me now. I should probably just get important dates tattooed on me so I don't forget things. To get a tattoo like fun on your knee for funny as your first tattoo, that's a big leap.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Yep. Okay. So you met her at the tattoo place? I did, yeah. She was getting tattooed right next to me. What did she think about your tattoo? She liked it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:52 She liked it. She thought it was funny and all. Funny, hold on. It's got to be her number. So it worked. Exactly. Yeah, that's only the seventh time I've used that. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Who was she there with? She was there by herself just getting tattooed as well. Okay. And you got her number there at the tattoo place. Yeah. Yeah. We were chatting up a little bit while we were getting tatted up. Um, and I, I got done first and asked for her number, uh, before I left and she gave it to me. So that was a sign. She must've liked the tattoo. What was she getting tattooed? She was, uh, she was just starting a sleeve actually. So that was a sign she must have liked the tattoo. What was she getting tattooed? She was, uh, she was just starting a sleeve actually. So it was like, you know, design some like floral pattern, um, kind of drawn into her, drawn into her arm. It was pretty cool. How did your actual date go? The date went well. I mean, we were, we were talking good. We were,
Starting point is 00:03:41 you know, it was seamless. I was learning about her. Where did you guys go for your date? We went to a bar. Oh, lovely. Easy. Very good conversation. Yeah, it's easy, right? I'm not much of a drinker, but I know most people are. Is she?
Starting point is 00:03:58 I always just suggest bars. Yeah. I mean, she got a drink. And then, honestly, this is, so I haven't received a call back, right? And this is the reason I think is because I suggested a bar. She got a drink first or right away. I didn't get a drink. And I feel like she, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:04:18 The only thing I can imagine is that she's weirded out that she got a drink and I didn't. And I was the one who suggested a bar. Yeah. It's a bit weird to suggest a bar if you don't drink. But it's still kind of a bit weird to have that conclusion. I don't know. I don't know. But, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Because, honestly, I just suggest a bar because that's, like, where you get a first, you know, date. Yeah, it's pretty common. I don't know. I find it hard to believe that if you went to a bar and you just didn't have a drink, that would be the reason she's not calling you back. Yeah, it's pretty common. I don't know. I find it hard to believe that if you went to a bar and you just didn't have a drink, that would be the reason she's not calling you back. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:04:49 I'm right on board with you. I don't know what's going on. Did it seem like she liked you? It did seem like she liked me. We were connecting. You sound pretty normal, and I feel like you kind of have a good head on your shoulders, and it sounds like if she wasn't into it, you would know. I think so too
Starting point is 00:05:05 thank you that means a lot yeah and it sounds like she's not into you because how long has it been since you talked to her uh it's been like a week so right and how many times have you reached out to her in that week i mean i reached out to her twice you know once right away no answer then i reached out again after not too long. And then I may have also reached out a third time, like two days ago. Okay. And then I might be thinking about reaching out for a fourth. And then you emailed her. I already have a draft typed up. Well, we'll see if we can figure it out for you. Did you guys kiss or anything at the end of your
Starting point is 00:05:41 date? We did not. I, you know, I was hoping it went well. So I was hoping I would get another opportunity. And that was kind of weird at the end. So I don't know. The opportunity, I don't know. I was nervous. I was nervous because it was going well.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I didn't want to mess it up. It didn't present itself. Well, we'll play a song and then come back and call her and see if we can figure out why she's not getting back to you. All right. Right in the middle of your first date follow up. And if you're just joining us, Zach is on the phone. He's not getting a call back from a woman named Jenny. They met at a tattoo shop.
Starting point is 00:06:15 He was getting the word fun tattooed on his knee. Funny. And she was starting on a tattoo sleeve and they started a conversation he asked her for a phone number they went out to a bar he thinks everything went great and at the end of the date it was kind of awkward because the uber driver was there and it was like a rushed goodbye and that's the last he heard from her it's been about a week he's reached out to her three times and gotten nothing in return so we're gonna call her in just a second and figure out why she's ghosting Zach. All right, Zach, you ready to go? Yeah, I think I'm ready. Okay. Let's do this. I have high hopes for you. Yeah, Zach. Good luck. um hello hi may i speak to jenny please um yeah this is jenny who's this jenny how are you my
Starting point is 00:07:14 name is jubal from the radio show the jubal show my name is alex fresh my name is igla chevin and it's from the radio show the jubal show. The Jubal Show. Have you heard of the Jubal Show? Oh my God. The Golden Spiel. Yes? Yes. Yes, queen. All right. Thank you guys.
Starting point is 00:07:30 I'm sorry. Oh my God, we're famous. Oh my God, what is happening? Well, we do a thing on the show called the First Date Follow-Up.
Starting point is 00:07:39 That's where if you go out with someone and then end up ghosting them, they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened. You may have heard one of those before.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Yeah, yeah. I have it listened to all the phone and find out what happened. You may have heard one of those before. Yeah. Yeah. I have. I listen to it all the time. Okay, great. Well, we got an email from this dude named Zach about going on a date with you. Oh my God. No, this is not happening.
Starting point is 00:07:57 It is happening. Best believe it, girl. We rarely ever get like anybody who actually knows the show one and then actually knows a segment too oh no oh my god oh no i'm so sorry you're sorry why no because okay i have to tell you what happened okay but yeah that's fine no i know it's just the reason like why you want to know like why I didn't call him back, right? That's correct. It is exactly what we want to know. Oh my, and I know he's on the phone too, isn't he? He's listening in.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Zach? Zach? Yeah. Hi, Jenny. How's it going? Yes. Zach is listening, wants to talk to you. And now you're both on the phone together. And Zach, I'll just let you ask it, Zach, since. Yeah. Oh, my God. Well, yeah, I mean, I suppose it needs to be asked.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Yeah, Jenny, I was wondering why you didn't call me back or text me back. Oh, you know what? You are such a great guy, and we had, it was a great time. And my koi fish is still not even finished. And all that stuff was great. I thought she was going to say her koi fish died. I thought she was going to blame it on her fish. Me too.
Starting point is 00:09:19 I thought you were going to say the koi fish told you not to go out with him again. I was like, she talks to a koi fish, dude, don't. I was so confused. Guys, I'm not an insane person. My arm doesn't talk to me. Okay, so Zach, I'm going to try not to get choked up as I talk about this, but my Brussels griffin poodle mix,
Starting point is 00:09:41 his name was Zach and he died like a month ago. And every time I saw your name come up in my phone, I don't know. I guess it just jogs so many memories for me because it wasn't like he didn't just die. He got run over by a car. So it was very abrupt.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Yeah. Yeah. sorry to hear that. I'm sorry that I had to share it with you. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, that sucks. Yeah. So that's why you're not calling Zach back. What if he renamed Zach? For the rest of this phone call, let's retire his name and just call him Z so we don't say the name again.
Starting point is 00:10:27 So hearing that name and seeing that name, which is a reminder of your dog that died. And so that's why you don't think you can date him. Exactly. I mean, how can I get turned on or even like excited about him calling if I just see like Zach calling? I just think of like, Zach calling. I just think of, like, my poor brew poo. Uh-huh. Yeah, I mean,
Starting point is 00:10:49 my mom gave me that name anyway, so we can change it. Yeah, of course your mom gave it to you. What's your middle name, Zach? Greg. Greg.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Okay, well, let's not do Greg, either. Let's do... Why not Greg? I mean, Greg. Greg's a good name. No, well, actually,
Starting point is 00:11:04 Greg was my grandfather's name. There we go. Exactly. Is your grandfather still alive? I don't want you to... No, but that's okay. He died, like, a long time ago. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Okay, Jenny, you liked going on a date with Zach. You like Zach. Yeah, I had a great time. I just, like, cried myself to sleep that Zach. Yeah, I had a great time. I just like cried myself to sleep that night. Okay, so Zach obviously he liked you a lot. So would you be willing to go
Starting point is 00:11:33 on another date with Zach? We'll pay for it if he changes his name. I feel like since we talked about it, like it's like no longer an elephant in the room but Zach if you wouldn't mind going by a different name for a little while until I get over Zach my dog what do you want to call me I will go by whatever you are comfortable calling me will you actually okay hold on though
Starting point is 00:11:58 she said that I think she was going to go out with you again as long as you go by a different name but will you actually legally change your name if you guys end up getting married? I will legally add that to the doctrine of our marriage. No way. Whatever you want to say. These two are so sweet. That's a lot of commitment.
Starting point is 00:12:18 So Jenny, whatever your name is, I'm excited for you guys, but you got to choose a name. I think Kevin Hart's really funny so let's just go by Kevin for now Kevin Hart would be my first name Kevin Hart the whole thing Kevin Hart
Starting point is 00:12:31 exactly the real Kevin Hart yeah Kevin Hart so Jenny and Kevin Hart yeah dude I love it oh my gosh awesome
Starting point is 00:12:39 so second date so you guys are gonna go on a second date yay yes alright congratulations congratulations Jenny and Kevin Hart it's nice to meet you man thank you yes thank you guys are going to run a second date? Yay. Yes. All right. Congratulations. Congratulations, Jenny and Kevin Hart. It's nice to meet you, man.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Yes. Thank you guys so much. Nice to meet me, too. Jenny, thank you for making this happen and putting me on the spot and making me talk about it, because I already feel like my trauma is bleeding. Oh. So thank you. And I can't wait to see you again, Kevin Hart.
Starting point is 00:13:05 I can't wait to see you again, Kevin Hart. I can't wait to see you too, Jenny. Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric.
