The Jubal Show on demand.
First day follow-up.
Eva is on the phone today for a first date follow-up,
and she's not getting a call back from a dude named Scott.
Sounds like a very Scott thing to do.
It does. Classic Scott.
Apparently, they went to play laser tag for their date,
which is a lot of fun. Laser tag is fun.
And now she's not getting a call back.
Before we talk about your date, Eva,
how long has it been since
you talked, since your date?
It's been like a week and a half.
Week and a half, alright. And in that time, how
many times have you reached out to Scott?
Once, and then
well, twice.
Twice I reached out to him. Once was just
like, hey, I had a nice time.
And then the second was
like, I can't wait to do it again.
Like, we were making jokes about, like, because we did laser tag.
So we were talking about like, oh, maybe bowling next time.
So I kind of was like, I can't wait to bowl.
It was like some kind of bowling joke I made.
So, and did he respond at all to you?
No, like nothing.
Okay.
Yikes.
So how was the actual date?
Uh, it was really fun. We went to laser tag and it was a blast and, um, like he's funny
and we laughed a lot. I like how you did that. You did that on purpose.
We got along and like, we just like laughed a lot and, um's like handsome and uh we just like i thought we
had a really great time did you guys do anything after after laser tag or did you end it there
afterward like and he had to like other plans or something so he was like oh i gotta go
okay and how did you guys part ways well we'd like a hug i mean it was like you know there's
like kids around and stuff,
so it felt weird to like,
you know,
have a first kiss
in an environment like that,
but we hugged.
Did his vibe seem
to match yours?
Yeah.
I mean, it seemed like,
I mean, I don't know.
I think it was like
towards the end,
it's like we were
kind of exhausted,
so he seemed to be like
tired.
I mean, I'm just meeting him for the first time.
You do get sweaty.
But it is.
I've gotten sweaty out of breath after.
So maybe he was just tired.
Yeah, it was on a Friday.
So it was the end of a long work week.
So we were both tired, getting up early and all that.
And obviously you're upset by the fact that he's not calling you back.
Can you tell us what you love about Scott?
Yeah, he was very handsome.
Well, why do you think he's not calling you back then?
I got a little stoned before the date.
That happens.
You know, I was nervous and it's just like,
you know, sometimes it's like, oh, it gets me like in
this zen place. Especially
I thought it would be cool with like the laser.
That's a very good point.
I just
feel like maybe he could
smell weed on me
and that's like maybe not his thing.
Maybe it was a deal breaker for him.
I don't know. I just feel like
he would have noticed in the beginning. I don't know.
I'm like racking my brain because I
normally don't have like such a fun time and then
like you don't hear anything. Right.
It's just like what happened.
Also like I
because I'm actually hungry so I like the munchies
so I was like snacking a lot So I was snacking a lot.
You're snacking a lot.
You're like, we can't play laser tag right now.
I'm hungry.
I need to eat.
All right.
Snack break.
So he might have known that you were a little bit stoned.
Yeah.
I mean, it didn't come up in conversation, but I feel like he'd probably tell maybe.
You sound like you're stoned right now.
I think you are.
Well, anyway, we'll
see if we can figure it out, okay? Maybe that is the reason,
maybe not. We'll see if we can figure it out. So, you guys,
he just, you played laser tag,
that was it. He hugged, he got in his car
and left, and that's the last you heard from him.
Yeah.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
Alright, well, we'll play a song,
come back, call him, and then find out
why he's not calling you back in your first date follow-up next,
okay? Alright.
I'm going to get stoned. I feel so nervous.
Enjoy your snack break. And the couch.
Yeah, yeah. Go get a snack,
okay? We need you to stay awake
for this next part, okay?
I'm going to try my best to stay awake.
We'll do it next.
It's a Jubal show.
In the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Ava, I think, is still on the phone.
She might have fallen asleep.
I think Ava had a little bit to smoke before the phone call.
In the couch.
She also had a little bit to smoke before her date, and that's the reason she thinks she's not getting a call back.
But she went to laser tag with a dude named Scott
she said she had a great time she thought
Scott was really hot that rhymed
she also thought he had a lot of fun
and she doesn't know why
after they played laser tag he's not
calling her back the only thing that she can think of is
she said that she decided
she decided to smoke a little bit before their
date she had the munchies big time and
also maybe smelled like it and maybe that turned Scott off.
She's not sure.
Also, I'm pretty sure she smoked before the phone call.
So we've got to hurry this up so she doesn't fall asleep on it.
All right, Ava.
Anything else to add before we call them or pretty much got it?
I think that's it.
Yeah, you guys.
Yeah, you got it.
Hit all the nails in the head.
Here we go.
I'm going to dial this phone right now and see if we can figure it out.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Scott, please?
Yeah, this is Scott.
Hey, Scott, how are you?
My name is Jubal, and I'm calling from a radio show, and that radio show is called The Jubal Show.
And I'm Alex, and I'm calling from the same show.
And I'm English Evan, and I'm calling from the same show.
And I'm Christian Gray Snow, and shocker, I'm calling from the same show.
So, Scott, are you still there?
Yeah, that's quite a bit, but yeah.
Have you heard of this show called The Jubal Show before?
I have, yes.
Thank you. Have you ever heard a segment that we do called The First Date Follow-Up?
No, no, I have not heard of that.
First Date Follow-Up is where if you go out on a date with someone and then you end up ghosting them,
they can email us to get you on the phone and find out what happened.
And we got an email about you from a listener named Ava.
Oh, all right. Okay.
Ava told us about your date.
She said that you guys went to Lasertag and had a really fun time,
and Ava is wondering why you've been ghosting her for a week and a half.
Okay, I gotcha.
Okay.
So Ava thinks that the reason that you've been ghosting her
is because she smoked a little bit before your date, not cigarettes.
I could tell.
I could tell that she
smoked up a little bit, but no, I didn't
care about that. I popped a couple gummies myself.
I didn't care.
Alright.
Well,
we had a good time
and all, but
she's not really my type after all.
Well, what happened?
It just, it didn't seem like our personalities really meshed terribly well.
We just don't seem to, I don't think we.
She said that you guys, it seemed like you had fun.
She had fun.
I'm not really sure that she was having all that much fun.
Why?
She definitely developed
an attitude.
She became, during
the course of the laser tag, very
competitive. Very kind
of aggressively so.
Oh.
I saw her do something
and I really didn't like it so much.
What did she do?
So I went to I went to go recharge.
And as I was coming back into the arena, I saw her trip a kid.
You saw her trip a kid.
Is that what you said?
Yeah, I saw her trip a kid.
She was she was behind a barrier the kid was coming around
here and she accidentally stuck her foot out and put this 12 year old on his face
i mean there's a lot going on like what if she was getting up to run yeah no no no no no
accidentally was in quotes there she absolutely did it on purpose. It was not getting up. It wasn't an accidental bump
into. She stuck her foot out and tripped
the kid. Wow. She
stuck her head around to scout out, saw
this kid coming. Kid wasn't looking. Kid
was running with his head turned backwards.
She squats down and right as
the kid was getting around the corner of the barrier,
out comes her foot
and tangles the kid up and splat
right on his face
and you're sure she tripped
this kid on purpose
that's hateful
I am sure
I am sure is the day I was born
that she did that on purpose
so kid falls down he's holding his leg
he's crying he's like rocking
on the floor he's hurt
obviously hurt she She gets up.
She turns around, shoots him, and then runs off.
Are you serious?
I drive by.
Sounds like a good strategy to me.
All right.
Well, I mean.
So you don't want to date a savage.
Honestly, I'm pretty good at it.
It's a game.
It's kids.
I like to think that I'm kind of laid back.
That just seemed like a little much for me.
And you know,
someday I might want to have kids and I certainly don't want to have a woman
around who's going to shove them to the ground.
You might want,
you might on certain days.
Well,
that's crazy.
Thank you for telling us why you're not calling her back.
I appreciate the honesty there.
And when we talked to her about your date, she didn't mention anything about tripping a kid.
Not at all.
So I'm really curious to find out if she did do that on purpose or for some weird kind of misunderstanding.
And let's ask her about it because guess what, Scott?
She's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
Oh, boy.
Yeah.
First of all, that kid was a punk.
He was mean to all the other kids.
Also, Scott, I was defending your honor because that kid stubbed you.
Hang on.
So you did trip that kid on purpose?
I mean, cast out of the bag, right?
I'm not going to deny it.
Okay, I did it.
Oh, wow.
But he had it coming. Yeah, he did it. But he had it coming.
Yeah, he did.
Why did he have it coming?
I felt like the kid was a cheater
because he was definitely the best one at laser tag
and he just was like, ha!
And then every time he'd shoot someone and get a kill,
he would gloat.
Oh, all right.
I get it now.
Okay, yeah.
So you were annoyed that he was good?
Yeah.
That kid was a punk and he killed Scott twice.
So I was defending Scott.
She was taking up for you.
That's just the way the game goes.
I shot back, whatever.
It's just a game.
Who cares?
I didn't know that you saw me and I wish you'd said something because I would have explained
that kid was being a punk.
Well, yeah, yeah. I saw you tripping, but I also heard you call him a pigeon too,
so that didn't really help out either.
The adrenaline was rushing through me, you know. I get competitive.
And I guess now's a good time to ask the question though. Would you like,
Scott, would you like to go on another date with Ava? We'll pay for it.
You know, even if I did hear the explanation as to why all this happened,
I still don't think that I would like to.
I think I'm good, thanks.
You sure?
Yeah, yeah, nope.
Maybe next time.
I mean, Scott, come on.
We had a good time.
I think we should give it another shot.
No, thank you.
No, thank you.
Good luck.
Oh, Scott, come on.
Like, I really liked you.
I'd love to do that one more time.
Nah, I just don't think it's for me.
All right.
What if I promise that I'm not going to trip any other kids?
I said other kids,
because if that kid shows up,
I would trip him again.
Him only, though.
Oh, my God.
