First date follow-up.
I'm really glad that I don't have to date anymore.
Mm-hmm.
What's that?
Time for your first date follow-up.
And Lacey is on the phone
because a guy named Darius isn't calling her back.
Dating is stressful enough,
but dating right now, even worse,
because there's virtual dating.
Mm-hmm, can't be fun. And Lacey apparently went on a virtual date with Darius. Now she's not getting a call back. Dating is stressful enough, but dating right now, even worse because there's virtual dating. Can't be fun.
And Lacey apparently went on a virtual date with Darius. Now she's not getting a call back and virtual
dating has to be so difficult because you probably
spend most of your time going like, am I
frozen? Can you see me?
No, I can hear you, but I can't
hear. The video's not, now it's just a video
and no audio. I can't
I'm going to log off and log back on. Yeah, that's what
dating is now, I guess.
You always argue, too, about whose Wi-Fi is worse.
No, it's got to be my Wi-Fi.
I don't know.
Lacey, is that how your first date was with Darius?
A little bit.
I mean, there's always those technical glitches,
but I'm pretty used to that
because I've been working remotely for a while.
It was actually not bad, to be honest.
And that's why I'm here.
Yeah, you said you had a virtual date.
So how did you even meet Darius?
Yeah, so we actually met through a friend, like a friend set us up.
I've never met him in, you know, in person.
And we had this, you know, Zoom date set up.
And we, you know, we tried to make it fun. Like I had a glass of
wine and we made it as fun as we could. But yeah, it was, you know, there was a little bit of
awkwardness, you know, just like how you can assume like anything like that is. But I felt
like it went pretty well, to be honest. Like we clicked, we had things in common. and basically what happened at the end of the
date like I was like okay well should we set up another one of these or what and he was kind of
tentative and he was like well I'm gonna check my schedule and then I haven't heard back and I just
don't know I mean I don't know him well enough to be like what's going on so I don't know I don't
know what to do in this situation because I've never been in this situation. Yeah.
And you haven't heard anything from him
since your virtual date?
No.
Like, after I had, like, texted him
and I was like, let's set it up again.
Like, you know, like, just kind of following up.
And he was like, yo, I'll get back to you.
You know, just kind of vague.
And the date, like, went well?
You can't think of anything that went wrong?
Nothing wrong. I mean, like I said, a little bit of awkwardness like you would expect with anything.
I felt like we were excited to keep talking and learn more about each other.
You don't live with your boyfriend or your husband, do you?
That would be a big...
No.
Because I was saying, maybe you're on a Zoom date and he sees your husband in the background watching TV, drinking a beer.
That would be awkward.
Maybe he lives with his girlfriend or his wife.
Oh, I didn't see anything like that.
Now I'm getting nervous.
So there's nothing awkward that you can think of at all?
So no, but now I'm freaking myself out, losing sleep but like now I'm like freaking myself out,
like losing sleep over this.
I'm like, did I not turn off the camera?
Like my mind is like, you know,
thinking of all these like things
like after we hung up,
did I not turn off the camera?
And like I went to the bathroom,
like honestly, I have no idea.
Now I'm like thinking
of like worst case scenarios.
So now I just need to know.
That's how it is
when somebody ghosts you though.
Is it?
You start thinking about everything.
You've never been ghosted before?
Never been ghosted.
Oh,
that's right.
You just lost your virginity two days ago.
Had one girlfriend.
That's true.
But you start thinking of every single reason,
like what could I have possibly done on the date?
What didn't they like?
Maybe.
Well,
if you like the person,
if you don't care and they ghosted you,
then fine.
But if you want them to call you back,
at least for me,
I've always been like,
what did I do?
Like,
what didn't they like about me? Especially if they
seemed into you at first. Maybe
you reminded him of one of his exes
in a bad way.
Maybe
I'm just too pretty.
Maybe you're just too perfect. Let's go with that. Maybe that's it.
Too gorgeous. You just can't.
Alright. Well, we'll try to figure it out
for you. We'll play a song, come back
and then call him and get your first date follow up.
OK. Oh, my gosh. OK. We'll do it next. It's a Jubal show.
First date follow up. You know what would be the worst part about virtual dating?
What would that be? It's time for your first date follow up if you're just joining us.
Lacey is on the phone and she went on a virtual date with a guy named Darius who's not calling her back.
The worst part about a virtual meeting over Zoom though
would be if you're waiting
before if you've never used Zoom before
before you're getting on
sometimes it says
waiting for the host
to start the meeting
and then they click start
and then you're added
into the meeting on Zoom.
So getting ghosted is one thing
but what if
they just left you on that
for an hour
just waiting for the host to start a meeting and then they just if they just left you on that for an hour?
Just waiting for the host to start a meeting and then they just don't even let you in.
You know what?
Is it like ladies first too?
Like who hosts the meeting?
Yeah, who does host the meeting?
Or the date?
These are such important questions.
Yes, this is like definitely why Jubal and I
are glad that we're married to each other
because we don't have to date anymore.
We're not worried about this kind of stuff.
Especially now with pandemic dating and
virtual dates being a thing,
I'd be so
lost. I would have no idea how
to handle that. That's right, Grandpa.
I think you could figure it out.
Lacey is on the phone and
yes, she doesn't know why Darius has ghosted her after
their virtual date. She can't think of any reason why.
Alright, Lacey, we're going to call him right now
and try to figure it out. You sure you can't think
of anything that could have went wrong?
No. Now I'm like racking my
brain even more. I just need to know.
Okay. Alright, well. Let's do it. Let's try
to figure it out then. Yeah.
Hello?
Hi, may I speak to Darius, please?
Yeah, this is him.
Who is this?
Darius, how are you?
This is The Jubal Show.
My name is Jubal.
My name is Alex Fresh.
My name is English Evan.
And The Jubal Show is a radio show. And you met on a date recently.
What are you talking about?
I don't understand.
What is this?
You went on a date recently.
And on our show, we do a segment called the First Date Follow-Up.
It's where if you go out on a date with someone and then end up ghosting them,
they can email us to get you on the phone to try to figure out what happened.
So the person you went on a date with emailed us
because they can't figure out why you're blowing them off any idea who would have contacted us about you
well is her name lacy yes you're correct it's lacy congratulations so we're calling you to find
out why you ghosted her and not talking to her anymore oh i'll just be up front okay um i just felt like she didn't really care that much about
the date like her room was a mess like there was clothes everywhere there was like trash on the
floor her bed wasn't made that's the thing if she's just a messy person i don't want to date
a messy person okay perfect did she look like she got herself together at all, like her hair and makeup?
She looked fine.
She was hot.
She was hot.
Yeah, but she wasn't, she can have a messy room hot.
I mean, I guess she was, but I just, you know, I just felt like she didn't really care about
the date.
Is that what you really care about or do you care that she's a messy person?
Like you wouldn't want to live with that.
I mean, it's kind of both,
but it's more so that like,
I feel like she didn't put the time and effort into the date.
It's kind of more so that than the other.
If you're hopping on Zoom
or whatever you used for a virtual date,
I would, I'm not even that clean of a person.
I'm pretty messy.
You can ask my wife, Alex Fresh,
we're married if you didn't know that, by the way.
She's not even saying anything. And actually, I guess you are. I'm, you know, I ask my wife, Alex Fresh. We're married if you didn't know that, by the way. She's not even saying anything.
I'm actually like, yes, you are.
I can be kind of cluttery, right?
But if I was going on a virtual date, I would make
sure at least behind me was cleaned
up so it looked like it was clean.
When you're single and you go out on real life
dates, you clean up your place before you have someone
come over, usually.
Yeah, but if you're going on a date, you should clean up
no matter what, even if it is off date.
It doesn't take long to clean the area
that the camera's in. I have to agree
with him. I kind of agree with you too,
Darius. Yeah.
It wouldn't bother me. I mean, I more so care about
the actual date. Like, if the date was going
well, I wouldn't care about the clothes.
Makes sense from you. And I was going to ask you, Darius,
does she seem
engaged during the date, totally?
Like, all the way through?
I mean, yeah, more or less, I think so,
yeah. But I just couldn't get over the fact that
the room was so messy while she was supposed to be
on this date with me. Alright. Well, thank you for being
honest, man. I appreciate it. I also want to be honest with you now
and let you know that Lacey is
actually on the other line listening and wants to talk to you.
Oh. Hey.
That would have been nice to know.
Yeah, sorry about that.
I forgot telling you.
Yeah, now you know, though, so it's cool.
Wait, before we go any further, I need to stick up for myself.
I have things to say, because this has been like...
Pritch, go ahead.
First of all, okay, I understand what you're saying. And here's the deal. I have a little where
I was set up. I'm looking at it now. I have a little like cat tower in my office room thing.
And there were clothes hanging off of it because I was trying to figure out what to wear. And these
were like my discards. And I was worried about what I was going to look like. So obviously,
like you were talking about hair and makeup, I spent probably
a solid, I will tell you this, a solid hour on hair and makeup. And I couldn't find the right
top. I'm throwing clothes all over the place. So by the time I get to the call, it might have
looked like a crazy person. But I promise you, like, if you came to my house, it is very neat.
I just have a problem throwing clothes all over the place. And I'm getting ready for a date.
That's nice.
I mean,
it's not hard to like
move the stuff
out of the way real quick,
you know?
So I was scrambling
to get ready
and so by the time
I'm like,
oh,
it's time for the call.
So I wasn't just like,
oh,
everything's perfect.
You know,
I was scrambling.
Okay,
so you're rushing.
I mean,
honestly,
I get that.
I didn't take that
into consideration
that you had to do
all the extra stuff
to get ready.
I don't know. I just kind of felt that you didn't care all the extra stuff to get ready. I don't know.
I just kind of felt that you didn't care.
But now hearing your side, I guess I was wrong.
I've got a question for everybody in the studio and everybody on the phone.
Jubal in the back.
Real quick.
Go for it.
Rapid fire, okay?
What's worse?
Messy room on a virtual date or being late for the virtual date because you were cleaning your messy room before you started it?
How late?
10 minutes. 10 minutes late is what it was.
I would just say,
hey, I'm just running 10 minutes late.
I mean, they're not doing anything
else. They're just hanging out.
I think if they told you about the latest
and the reason behind it, I'd rather it that
than the messy room. Oh my gosh.
Okay, I think that too. Lacey, what do you think?
Because you're the one with the messy room
who said that you were frantic
and that's why it was messy.
I think this is all a good learning experience
because here's the deal.
When you went on a date before at a restaurant,
no one cares what your house looks like
because it's going to be a few dates before they see it.
So this is things that I have to think about now
and I am glad that I'm learning this
because I wasn't even thinking. I was just
like, okay, I'm here. I look good and like
there was too many things going on. So now I need
like a checklist. So this is good.
And honestly, I
have to say I've changed my opinion after hearing
what a slob I am. I would rather
be late and be like labeled like the messy
girl. Okay. For sure. Alright.
So learn a lesson and now I have to ask another
question. I got a question. Ask it away. This question For sure. All right. So learn a lesson. And now I have to ask another question. I got a question.
Ask it away.
This question is only for Darius.
Darius, would you like to go on another date with Lacey?
We will pay for it.
You know what?
Sure.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Oh, that's exciting.
I wasn't expecting that.
Once I heard her like reasoning behind it, I'm like, you know what?
Those are fair points,
and we should try again.
I think it's a good idea.
Okay, I got one more question.
Oh, jeez.
Sorry, I don't know why I'm doing that right now,
but this one's for Lacey.
Lacey, are you excited to go out with Darius again?
I am.
I can laugh at myself.
I feel like Darius,
we could have a good connection.
I don't know.
We don't know each other that well.
But yeah, yeah.
And I'll make sure it's spotless wherever I am.
Got another question.
Oh, my gosh.
No, I don't.
All right.
Thanks, guys.
