First Date Follow Up - The Jubal Show - What did this person lie about on their First Date that is causing them to not have a second?

Episode Date: October 17, 2022

First Date Follow Up is when we get an email from someone who went on a date and the other person isn't calling back. We get that other person on the phone to see why they're "ghosting".Today's First ...Date Follow Up is a good example that if you say you know how to do something and say you are good at it, then you should at least know how to do that thing that you said before you do it or it will cost you a second date!Leave a rating and review wherever you listen. Zane is on the phone today for a first date follow-up, but he's not getting a call back from a dude named Trevor. What's up, Zane?
Starting point is 00:02:02 Hey, hey, how are you guys? All right, how are you? Well, probably not that good because you guys? All right, how are you? Well, probably not that good because you're getting ghosted, huh? Well, yeah, I could be much better, but you know. Okay. I don't know, we'll figure it out. Well, before we get into your date and try to figure out why you're getting, why you think you're getting ghosted, tell us how long it's been since your date. I mean, it's been about maybe like a week and a half. And how many times have you tried to reach out to Trevor since your date? Well,
Starting point is 00:02:27 about four or five times. I mean, you know, I, I texted him like three times last week and I didn't want to spook him. So like, I just text like casually this week, but it's frustrating. Did you at least switch it up?
Starting point is 00:02:38 Maybe hit him on like text message, social media. Yeah, I've done all of that, but I don't want to appear like a stalker. So, you know, I mean, this was my last resort. We'll try to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Tell us a little bit about your date with Zane. We met on Hinge, and it was awesome. You know, we did a wine tasting. It was cool. You know, we were paired up at dinner at the event. So it was so awesome. Our first hour together, it was magical. I mean, the energy and the synergy, it was so awesome our first hour together it was magical i mean the energy and the synergy it was just awesome what was so awesome about it the the dialogue i mean i will admit you know i was i was drinking a little bit and we progressed as the night went further and we you progressed
Starting point is 00:03:22 as the night went on what does that mean okay okay we hooked up oh that's my type of first date i mean and exactly we both felt it was i know he enjoyed himself like i enjoyed myself it was pleasurable it was it was great why do you think he's not calling you back then did anything go weird on the date at any point? I don't know, guys. There was like this awkward time. Like, I have long hair, and I sweat a lot. And when we were hooking up, the sweat landed on his forehead and then like went down into his eye. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Oh, it dripped into his eye? That's disgusting. Yeah. He was like freaking out and, you know, felt it was gross. And, you know, I calmed him down. Well, yeah, it is gross. Yeah, like we laughed it off. I mean, and it was kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:04:14 But if you get somebody else's sweat in your eye, do you really laugh it off, though? It's probably going to make you feel better. Well, I hope so, because I really like him. So I don't know i i hope after you guys hooked up like what was his response like after it was all said and done was he like oh that was a good time or was it more like uh like did he say he wants to do it again yeah it was like you know he left we embrace before he left and it was like okay i'll call you soon he's like yeah i look forward to it that's what he he said at least that's what i you know that's what i took from it that's what he said so
Starting point is 00:04:48 and you haven't heard anything since your date yeah like it wasn't a negative vibe when he left but you haven't heard from him since no i haven't okay so yeah everything was great and i i don't know he he was so awesome i i really if there's ever a time I could see myself spending a long time and really want to get to know someone, it's him. And this happened, it's like hadn't been this way in years. So, like, it's very frustrating to finally meet someone. And I just feel there's so much potential. Okay. Well, let's see if we can figure it out for you then.
Starting point is 00:05:22 We'll play a song, come back, and call him and get your first date follow-up right after this. Zane is on the phone today for a first date follow-up, and if you're just joining us, he's not getting a call back from Trevor. They went on a little wine tasting. He said they had a great time. They even hooked up after, and now Trevor's not calling him back. It's been about a week and a half. We've tried to reach out to him four or five times, which is kind of a lot, but he's heard nothing back from Trevor. So we're going to get Trevor on the phone and see if we can figure out what happened and why he's been ghosting Zane.
Starting point is 00:05:48 The only thing that Zane could think of is that when they hooked up, they were a little sweaty, and some of Zane's sweat dripped into Trevor's eye, which can be an awkward moment. And maybe it just kind of grossed Trevor out, and now he doesn't want to date him anymore. But we'll see if we can figure out right now when we give him a call. All right, Zane, is there anything that you want to say before we call Trevor? No, I'm okay. I'm just a little nervous. Well, it can't be any worse than dropping sweat in his eyes, so don't be too nervous. All right, cool.
Starting point is 00:06:16 I'm going to dial the phone number right now. Here we go. uh hello hey what's up is this trevor uh yes this is he hey what's up trevor this is the jubile show it's a radio show my name's jubile my name's alex my name's bennett uh okay uh how can i help you well we're calling you today because we got an email My name's Alex. My name's Bennett. Okay. How can I help you? Well, we're calling you today because we got an email from somebody who listens to our show. And they asked us to give you a call. Oh, is that cute?
Starting point is 00:06:55 That's a good question. You might think they are because you went on a date with them, actually. Oh, really? Yes. We do a segment on our show called The First Date Follow-Up. It's where if you go out on a date with someone and then end up ghosting them, that person can email us to get you on the phone and figure out what happened. And we got an email about you from Zane. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Zane? Yes. Oh, my God. What happened with Zane? What happened with Zane? Yeah. We had a date. And, I mean, look, we had a good time at the end of it.
Starting point is 00:07:28 And that was that. OK, well, why aren't you calling Zane back? Well, I mean, first of all, can I just say that I'm a little weirded out by that? He called a radio station, get in touch with me to find out why I'm like the guy won't take a hint. Well, instead of ghosting him, you could have just told him that you weren't interested for whatever reason you are, which we want to know. Oh, God. OK. Take a hint, buddy.
Starting point is 00:07:51 OK. So, I mean, it's I it was going OK. But, you know, I was just it was just weird that he just in the middle of it starts talking in this drunken Spanish out of nowhere. And it's like, OK, the first second was, it was funny, cute, but then he just kept going on and on. He started speaking in Spanish? Is that what you said? Yeah, like this drunken, weird Spanish. I'm like, what are you, Kristen Wiig and Bridesmaids? Come on. Is he Spanish?
Starting point is 00:08:21 No. Okay. Was he drunk? A little tipsy, but I've seen seen tipsy people and they don't break out into another language i mean you don't like the bilingual was does he speak spanish or was he just like making up trying to was he trying to speak spanish and be sexy or something i it just sounded like he was trying to this drunken spanish he was trying to do something drunk in Spanish. He was trying to do something. And I'm like, dude, it's not working. So stop.
Starting point is 00:08:46 But he kept going on. That's the reason you're not calling him back. Yeah. I mean, look, it was just kind of weird and annoying. And I was weirded out. So if I felt like that, then that was it. Okay. Find that annoyed with somebody in the first day.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Imagine after five or six days of our relationship. Right. Right. Okay. So it was basically that he was just kind of annoying to you yeah it was annoying and we had a good time look ultimately we had a good time and uh you know boys are boys uh he got what he wanted i got what i wanted and we move on cool we can move on after you talk to him because he's actually on the other line listening and wants to talk to you. Yeah. Wow. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Oh, my God. Yes. There goes the day. Yes. No. Yes. I mean, whatever. My friends love.
Starting point is 00:09:32 If I had a little bit to drink and I'm a little tipsy, my friends love when I speak Spanish. So it's funny to them. Please tell me. Please tell me this is not happening. Wake me up. Wake me up. No. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Let me ask you something. Let me ask you something. Let me ask you something, Mr. Man. No, if you were so annoyed, why did you come back to my place and hook up with me then? Not that annoying. Just boys are boys, right? Exactly. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Boys are boys. Oh, so you were that annoyed. So you were that annoyed annoyed but you still could take time to come back and do what you had to do with me it's kind of messed up you know what you did what you had to do okay look we're not no but i know no but i was looking forward to getting to know you even more so right but i don't speak drunken spanish. I was just letting loose. That's no big deal. That's not who I am. I mean, who are you?
Starting point is 00:10:31 I'm not like you. Well, I'm the person you laid up with. That's who I am. I mean, why don't you get to know me further? I'm done. I mean, we're... You know what? We won't be done yet.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Would you guys like to go on another date? We'll pay for it. trevor would you like to go out with zane again we'll pay for it um uh really no what is it does it sound like listen to him oh my god would i really really oh my god are you just right now wow okay that's. So that's a no. I guess. Yeah, I think this is an abusive situation now. I'm held by the anger, okay? Jesus. It really is. I mean. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:11:13 Jesus. Really? Yes. How many times are you going to say really? Okay? Jesus. But Jesus has nothing to do with this, okay? This is you and I.
Starting point is 00:11:21 This is you and I. Stop talking about Jesus. He has nothing to do with this. Okay? Oh, boy. Well, Trevor, thank you for being honest. Come back. Zane, I'm sorry. It doesn't look like you're going to get another date.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Oh, my gosh. Well, apparently not. There's lithium and Viagra, okay? I suggest you look into it. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Hang up with him, guys. Wow.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Get rid of him. Okay. Lith, my God. Hang up with him, guys. Wow. Get rid of him. Okay. Look, he called me. Actually, I didn't even need to hang up on him, Zane. Looks like Trevor hung up himself. Adios. Oh, my gosh. I am so sorry that I even got you guys into this.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Oh, my gosh. I'm so over it. I'm sorry you didn't get another date. There'll be people. There's people. There's guys out there that love guys who speak in Spanish, especially in the bedroom. So go find one of those. Yeah, even if you don't know what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Hola, porquito. There you go. Does porquito mean small? Yeah, it does. Don't use that word. Mucho grande. Okay. That's more like it, buddy.
